My fav free water app so far

I’m surprised this isn’t a bit higher rated tbh. Ads are always annoying but it’s a free app&am able to close them out&log my drink,I have no issue using Drinkwater. It has a good selection of drinks, you’re able to set up notifications(I leave myself a nice message, you can write whatever you want),get as many or little notifications as you want,I don’t drink but like that it has alcoholic drinks so you can see how it dehydrated you,I also like that it has what other apps I’ve come across don’t which is how much you actually absorb so you can have a 12oz glass of something but will only count 10oz because that’s how much you actually get(not that I know if it’s accurate or not) of course plain water you get the full amount. This is the only free app I’ve come across that is actually free, every other app you have to pay to unlock majority of drinks. I also like that it takes your gender, age, weight into consideration&you can also change your goal if you want to however I don’t see an option for activity level which I would like because I’m sure an athlete&someone sedentary would be different.

Very basic... updated, great app

Just got it so I don’t have much to say yet but the ads don’t seem to be too invasive and it does the basics well so far.

Update: been using Drinkwater for awhile now and I’ve been using more and more of the available features and it’s improved on tools since then. I do like it a lot. There are some features that could work better Ava some features it could use but I’ve noticed others requesting these Ava the developer institutes some of them so I’ve been content to wait for them to come down the pipes. I did upgrade to a paid subscription and I feel it was worth it. But I will said it would only be worth it for someone who intends to use the full features on a daily basis.

One feature I will mention as it caused me some trouble is setting your daily goal. It kept changing on me and I even uninstalled Drinkwater (and lost several months of data) to see if I could reset the goal. It was then I discovered it is auto set by your weight. It would be nice to be able to choose whether it does that or you could set your own static goal.

Feeling hydrated! Needs tweaks

Keeps me accountable, better esthetically than other app’s I’ve tried. Helpful reminder on Apple Watch. The award badges are fun.
Interesting options in Drinkwater , no grape juice, from the picture I assume there’s a grapefruit juice option but it’s called Graper Juice. There’s also strawberry juice which I’ve never seen before. Would be nice to be able to log a beverage that you drink normally (that isn’t already an option in Drinkwater ). There’s no vegetable juice option, only fruit juices. Would be cool to have popular drinks integrated like V8 low sodium, V8. Would really love it if there was a barcode scanner option for beverage to add in where it can pull in the nutritional value and determine based on the sugar and sodium content what portion what portion of water would be absorbed. Would be good to have an herbal tea option and caffeinated tea option (currently there’s just a tea option). I could be wrong but I believe more water is absorbed from herbal tea than caffeinated given that caffeine is a diuretic.
Would also be nice to be able to alter a day I missed or add another drink to a previous day if I forgot to add it in the moment.

Great way to track water intake!

I’m 57 years old and always thought I drank enough water until my Doctor, bloodwork and other health issues told me otherwise. A coworker told me about Drinkwater that he was using. Wow, as it turns out, I wasn’t drinking half of the water that I should’ve been drinking for my size.

All my life I had followed the old 8-10 glasses of water rule and never really even drank that much. I now drink 183 oz a day and I can’t believe the difference it has made in just the five days since I downloaded Drinkwater . I have met my goal every day easily because I can plan how much I need to drink within a certain timeframe so that I can meet my goal by 8pm. This gives me enough time before bed so I’m not up all night running to the bathroom.

Give it a try, you will see how easy it is to track your intake too.

Ok could use some updates

I’ve had Drinkwater for about two days now and it’s really helped my overall water intake. the design is pretty good, like how I can see my history and statistics, I also quite like how u can customize ur own notification to help really motivate u, it’s also nice how u can add many other drinks. There’s just a few things you that I think could make Drinkwater work a bit better. First of all there’s only military time and if there was an option for the twelve hour clock system that would help a whole lot. Secondly if this could be a widget that would be helpful so I don’t have to open Drinkwater every time I need to log a bit of water. It would also be nice if I could add water the day after if say I was out and forgot to log it also if u could subtract water in case u accidentally added to much that would help. Also if I could customize notifications to say different thing for different notifications that would be a nice perk. Overall a good app that I’ll continue to use a few of these updates (especially the clocks one) could be extremely helpful though!

App is fine, but doesn’t respect my “no thanks” decision to do a review

I’m not one for doing app reviews. When prompted by an app to review it, I usually say “no thanks”. Drinkwater was no different. Unlike other apps, Drinkwater continues to bug you every time you start Drinkwater to review it and doesn’t respect your choice to say “no thanks”. This is extremely annoying and the reason I’m giving Drinkwater 1 star. Otherwise it’s a 3-4 star app.

It’s also not clear how to turn off ads even by paying for it.

One feature I like is that Drinkwater gives you “credit” for drinking water proportionally based on what you drink. For example, if you drink a 16 oz hard cider, Drinkwater will actually take away 8oz from your water total (-0.5 factor) which reflects that drinking alcohol will dehydrate you. The only issue I have with this is it’s not stated where this data comes from? How does Drinkwater know drinking a cider has a hydration factor of -0.5 (meaning multiply the amount drank by -0.5 to get the amount of hydration gained or lost)? Although none stand out as blatantly wrong, I would like to dive deeper on the source of this to see if it’s based on actual science or just a good guess.

Suggestions:

1. Should have option for user to input type of beverage themselves in case that beverage is not part of the ones included in Drinkwater

2. User should have option to input TIME in which they drank a beverage. Sometimes I do not have the opportunity to input that I drank something till significant amount of time has passed. App currently takes it that whenever user inputs drink is they time they have drunk, which leads to inaccuracy for those who are not always able to track a drink at the exact time they drink. Would be nice for users to be able to control input of both the amount they drink and the the time in which the drink was consumed.

3. Make Drinkwater more trans, non-binary, and intersex friendly. Some users may not identify strictly as male/female, and or may have physiological functions that place them between or outside of these identities. Suggestion is to do research to develop categories in Drinkwater that would cater to trans, no binary, and intersex folks -and or to figure out a way to make your algorithm not based on sex/gender binaries. As well, for the avatars in Drinkwater that gives a visual representation of water drinkage - a third avatar can be added that allows for a gender-fluid option. Or condense the two options into one where the gender markers are more nebulous so any gender chosen gets the same avatar.

My reminder notif makes me crack up

The animation showing how much water you’ve drank is really cool and it gives you a bunch of different drinks that calculates how much water you absorbed while drinking the aforementioned beverage, and it also gives you a recommended amount of water to drink every day depending on age, height, and body weight.

More importantly it allows you to customize the notification Drinkwater gives you to remind you to drink water and it will allow literally everything. My notification just says “WÕTÊR” every two hours and it makes me laugh really really hard every time.

The ads are a little annoying but you can exit out of them relatively fast so they’re manageable. Overall this is a really good app if you’re trying to drink more water so I highly recommend.

Good App, Could Use Updates

Drinkwater works great to track your water intake! It has a nice visual, and it even gives you a pie chart and a line graph of your ongoing progress. As far as usability, Drinkwater is great! Definitely try it out.

The improvements could come in a few different ways. 1) The ads pop up and are hard to get rid of. Sometimes they go away and pop up again until you click them off, which is annoying when you just need to add some water quickly. 2) There are a good number of options for liquid intake, but some of them have typos or are quite rare depending on your lifestyle. For example, there are options for "Peaches Juice" and "Lemonade Juice." Some updates to the names, options, and spellings would go a long way.

Overall, it is a great app! It could use a few improvements, but it is definitely helpful if you want to monitor your water intake. Try it out!

Love the format, options, features & reminders!

Drinkwater is fantastic! I’ve tried to use numerous other water apps and none of them seem to engage me & catch my attention to hydrate the way this one does! I also love that it shows my progress with a human body visual actually filling up with water-somehow it makes my goal seem more attainable. I also love all of the options of different kinds of beverages and that they include the % of water absorbed from those different drinks. The reminder/notifications are awesome & fun as well! I have them set to notify me frequently with a siren tone both on my phone & my watch-as I always forget to hydrate! The pop up ads can be a little annoying but they’re tolerable if it means keeping this awesome app free! Thank you Drink Water!!!👍🏽💦👏🏽

User friendly water app.

Knowing that it’s best to drink 1/2 of your body weight in ounces of water DAILY, I really like the “body outline” that visually shows the water level of an individual’s body type as to how much water is drunk each day. I like that Drinkwater . also knows how many ounces of water to record for my coffee, hot tea, & unsweetened tea...as the water is a specific % of those drinks. I also drink unsweetened almond &/or coconut milk and BAI, which is a sugar-free beverage, sweetened WITHOUT artificial sweeteners. I count beverages that are 2gr carbs or less, sweetened with stevia, erythritol, or monk fruit that I consume for my KETO lifestyle as part of my water intake as well. It would be great if there were a category for drinks such as that. I’m very pleased with this water app. & recommend it.

Great app

Great app, the visual is motivating for me and the people I’ve recommended it to. I like it better than other water apps I’ve tried. Only two things I don’t like: the full screen ads, which I sometimes can’t close (I quit & reopen Drinkwater ). I’d pay a dollar or two for a version without ads, but don’t see that option. Also, when I put it on my phone it automatically downloaded on my iPad. The two don’t communicate, so water entered on one doesn’t show up on the other. I emailed developer about this and if I could create an account and use on both. Didn’t hear back. So, good on one device only and must be patient with the ads and then it’s really great and helps me feel good & hydrated. 4 stars. Also annoying, it keeps asking me to rate app even after I did.

Helpful for me

I’ve been using for a week. The most useful features this has vs simply keeping track in your head is the water retention for non-water beverages as well as displaying the percentages of each liquid type you’re consuming.

It’d be more helpful if the notifications were linked to your hydration progress and if you’re behind schedule instead of fixed times every day, but it’s possible that this is a paid feature that I don’t have access to. I’ve still found the notifications to be a good reminder to drink.

I don’t find the ads for the free app to be too intrusive and am happy to endure them for the service provided.

Nice app but could use some small enhancements

I like Drinkwater , however, it could use a few instructions, such as how to adjust the number of ounces displayed to enter at a given time. I discovered how to do this trying to figure out something else. I used Drinkwater for five days before stumbling upon how to adjust. I do like the calendar showing the daily achievement. The reminder selection is simple also and has reminded me many times while involved in work tasks. My water intake is back on track. Overall, other than some instructions, maybe pop ups for first time users, rating would be a 5. Possibly, some things like this are ‘known’ to younger users, however, middle aged and older may not be so in tuned with some of these processes!

drink water

I was told by a close friend about Drinkwater and at first I didn’t know how to use it but I got the hang of quickly. it’s really easy and simple to use. there are many different drinks you can track like tea, coffee, protein shake, etc.. you can add the amount you drank and it fills up your little person to see a real visual of the water in your body! once you reach your daily goal your person should be filled up all the way! the only thing that bugs me about Drinkwater is that when your main page you can accidentally track the wrong amount of water and it took me a minute to find how to delete it from tracking. but overall this is app is very helpful and keeps me on track with drinking enough water!

By

Better than paid apps

I’ve downloaded and paid for a couple of water tracking apps, but they only measure water intake and don’t account for a variety of beverages. Drinkwater allows and compensates for multiple types of beverages, including some alcoholic beverages, to show you the actual water content. For example, 18 oz of a sports drink equals only 9 oz of water towards your daily intake. This is because drinks such as cola, sports drinks and energy drinks have additives that subtract from the amount of water in them. Alcohol and coffee can also dehydrate you, also subtracting from your total daily water intake. The Drink Water app will keep you on track more accurately.

Started out great...

Look, I don’t mind a few ads here and there—people gotta get paid one way or another. And it worked just fine, nagged next without being too obnoxious and really kept me on target, which is important because I have to drink a lot of water for medical reasons. Then all of a sudden, they have this ad for a stupid game that goes on and on. Okay whatever. I can wait a full minute or so and then exit out using the microscopic X in the corner. Yeah. Good luck with that. All it does is repeatedly take you to said stupid app. Basically, it appears they have taken this perfectly good app and turned it into a bait and switch for a stupid game.

What a shame. It would have been far more effective for them to charge like $1.99—which is more than reasonable and I’m sure most people wouldn’t have a problem with (I know I wouldn’t), but instead they have resorted to sleazy grifter tactics. Deleted.

Love this app !!!!!!

I have been drinking water for a long time.... my goal was to drink 8 glasses of water a day!!!! Some days I did well but the majority of the time....I was guzzling down water at once because I let too much time pass ! Drinkwater will notify you periodically thru your day.... depending on what your goal is ....to remind you! I get the reminder 8 times a day.... and when I do.... I drink my glass of water and I’m done.... until the next notification!!! It also will take into consideration coffee, tea, soda, fruit juice and alcohol drinks and lets you know if they are a positive or negative towards your intake. You need to try Drinkwater to feel better about your water intake.... so much better to drink it thru out the day instead of guzzling at the last minute or not meeting your goals !!!!!

Great App But Intrusive Ads

I recently almost died from a big kidney stone so I’m highly motivated to drink more and track what I drink. So far, this is the best app I’ve found. It gives flexibility to note how much, what & when you drink something. You can go back and look at what you’ve recorded. And it has a beautiful graphic. But I’m close to deleting it because the ads are so intrusive. Today, the ad that came up when I wanted to record something wouldn’t let me close it. Every time I touched the ad, trying to close it, Drinkwater Store plus a page on Safari (related to the product) opened. I finally had to close and reopen Drinkwater to record the coffee I’d just finished. PLEASE offer an option to purchase an ad-free version. Otherwise, I’m going to delete Drinkwater!

My water consumption skyrocketed

Drinkwater is excellent. It really helps me keep track of the amount of water I drink and has customizable reminders to keep me on track. With Drinkwater , on a bad day I drink 50% of what I’m supposed to drink whereas before I got Drinkwater I was drinking about a single glass of liquid on a bad day. There’s clearly been a major improvement on my water intake. Also you can select from a variety of drinks such as smoothies, soda, teas and so much more and it tells you the percentage that was absorbed. The only thing that Drinkwater doesn’t take into consideration is if you lead an active or sedentary lifestyle, but either way it paves the path to a healthier life.

Does what it needs to do

Drinkwater does what it claims to do: helps you track your daily water consumption. It lets you customize your daily water intake goal, amount of water in each serving, and reminder notification times. Setting up the serving amount and notifications took a few minutes (you have to set up each time individually rather than, say every hour on the hour) but once you do it, it’s effortless. It’s also pleasant to look at

Drink Water is perfect for me!

I’ve struggled all my life with drinking enough water. Drinkwater doesn’t end *all* the struggle, but it definitely helps! These are my favorite features: 1) Buttons that let you select what beverage you are drinking and how much water you really get from that particular one. 2) The graphic that shows the body filling up with water. It just feels more realistic to me than filling up bottles or something. Anyway, great job!

Great for water tracking and reminders

I don’t download many apps but this has been one of the most useful apps for me. I have kidney issues and my doc is constantly telling me to drink more water! This works absolutely wonderfully for me. The only reason for 4 starts is that I cannot see the clock when I am setting the times. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled and it’s still not visual. However, I’ve managed to set all the reminders allowed lol. Simple to use and keeps me on track.

By

Best water tracker I’ve used 👍🏼

I’ve tried a lot of water trackers and this is the best one I’ve found. It gives you a lot of choices as far as types of drinks. It’s easy to enter the data. And I like the visual of the person filling up with water. You can get a good idea of how much more water you need to drink. It’s motivating. You also have multiple choices on the types of alarms you want for reminders. You get a lot for a free app.

By

Nice app I get sassy notifications if I don’t drink enough tho

K so really nice app it’s easy to use and I’m well hydrated now but anytime when I don’t get enough water it gives me a little bit of sass 😂 it says “Warning you are not drinking enough water 🙄”
I love it it’s funny in a way I’m sorry this was a dorky review but I love how it adds that extra 🙄 to it and can you add hot chocolate as an option to add to my tracker thx k bye

By

Big help!!

I have a medical problem and can get dehydrated very easily, and often forget to drink water. When I downloaded Drinkwater I doubted that it would work but it is the first day that I have used Drinkwater and I have already achieved half my goal. I feel absolutely better and now I can be reminded to drink water, and watch how much I drink through the body diagram!

By

Great reminder to drink water

I love that I can choose to put in different drinks and it converts it to water consumed, and the notifications are nice reminders. Only thing I wish I could change is to pay for no ads, but they're usually less than 5 seconds. Otherwise definitely what I was looking for when I wanted an app for reminding me to drink more water!

By

Keeps me Hydrated

So I tell my friends you need an app to help you stay on top of your H2O intake. They all say they know when they need to drink.
You’ve never been more wrong though. Drinkwater will keep you hydrated, and will track more than just your water intake, I love that part. Thoroughly enjoying it and hope to unlock all the achievements to keep me motivated !!!

Get Drinkwater, do it NOW, RUN!

By

Great app, serves its purpose

Pretty basic and easy to use, and the graphics are aesthetically pleasing. My only irritation is when the ads pop up, the Xs in the corners to close the ad don’t respond until I push them several times and they’re so high up on the screen that if I’m using navigation they get covered up so I can’t close them.

By

Surprised!

I used to think of myself as a “water-aholic”—I really just love water and prefer it to soda or tea with meals. My family has always kidded me about all my water bottles here, there, and everywhere. I even carry one in my purse! So imagine my surprise when Drinkwater indicated I could use even more water! If I need to drink more, I’m sure you do too—give this a try and see!

Helping me start the year with a bang!

Downloaded Drinkwater to track my water in take as I begin to tiger in shape ahaead of my 35th birthday and it is great. The notifications keep me on track and it feels good seeing my avatar fill to the top.

While more customization options would be ideal, it’s great for a free app that helps keep me on track.

By

Blank screen.

The only issue i habe with Drinkwater is changing the notifications. I click to add a new one and it brings up a little white screen with nothing on it. When i touch it i can feel/hear it as if i am scrolling through a time wheel but i cant see what time i am selecting. I really need this feature to work because i work third shift and am asleep during the day so i need complete opposite time notifications.

By

Helps keep me on track

I’ve only used Drinkwater for a few days now. This seems to be helping me. It’s nice to have options on putting in what I’m drinking; and still make progress. I do see that I’m trying to drink more straight water; which is nice. I like how it has a reminder that sends to my watch; just wish I could also put in what I drank through it too; that’s why 4 stars.
