Great idea and execution; Responsive and kind developer

GIFwrapped such a fun, wonderful idea that I didn’t know I needed. GIFs remain one of the most enjoyable forms of digital self-expression, and this app makes it easier than ever. The few bugs I experienced at the recent new version’s launch were quickly addressed. It’s important to understand that software development isn’t necessarily easy, and changing one thing can easily introduce bugs that would have been impossible to anticipate sometimes. If you haven’t done your part as a user of GIFwrapped and contacted the developer for support and to report the issues you experienced, then it is unfair to leave a negative review based on those bugs. Give them a chance. And I can tell from my experience so far with GIFwrapped, that they will do their best to resolve the issue and probably kindly inform you what went wrong too. I’m impressed with the support and service. That is to say nothing of the excellent panel design that is becoming an important player on iPhone apps, and the ability to access your library from the Files app. Yeah there are some bugs but if you reach out to the developer or even just read the release notes, it will be apparent that they are working hard to make this product the best it can be. Thanks for making this! 🙏

Unreliable

UPDATE - after I’ve lost my entire gif library twice, I can no longer say this is an app I’d recommend. The first time was due to a confirmed bug in GIFwrapped . The second time was because GIFwrapped added a toggle for iCloud access a number of versions before it could actually back up to iCloud. I enabled access and thought it was backing up there, but it was not. When I asked the developer why they’d request access to a person’s iCloud and not use it for backups or anything else clearly stated, I got no response. So that’s both sketchy AND GIFwrapped has failed me twice at the one thing it’s supposed to do: store a collection of gifs.

Original review
Great app - there was a real need for this sort of thing when it first came out and this filled the void. Not over cluttered with unneeded functionality but has all the basics you'd want (store gifs, share sheets, import/sync functionality).

Great app, but lacking in some areas

Let me start by saying I really love GIFwrapped, however, there are some issues.
1. The feature that lets me save gifs from twitter by sharing them directly to this app only works about half the time. I usually have to end up manually doing it by copying the share link and opening the this app app itself.
2. After the recent update this month, I can no longer send gifs in iMessage via the iMessage app. It simply refuses to load any gifs. While I can still share them from GIFwrapped , this is inconvenient.

Other than these two issues GIFwrapped is great and enjoyable. Hopefully they will be fixed soon so I can rate GIFwrapped higher.

I paid full price for crashes.

When GIFwrapped works, it’s great. Easy access to all of my gifs for sharing on social media. But when GIFwrapped crashes, only a reboot of my phone will fix it and this is unacceptable.

Also (and this is a personal opinion), Dropbox sync is garbage. I have never had a good experience with Dropbox sync. iCloud sync has always worked better for me. I bought GIFwrapped as it was highly recommended for this sort of thing and it is great when it works. But when it crashes (which happens every couple of days or so), having to reboot my phone every time to fix it is unacceptable.

Used to be a great app but now....

I used to always use this to get twitter gifs fast, but within the last few updates it rescinded the ability to process NSFW gifs due to “””technical””” limitations which doesn’t make sense since it used to be able to download whatever gif you wanted as long as it was a Twitter gif. It still does it’s job in every other capacity it’s just this unnecessary censor due to the software being held back makes ZERO sense.

Best App For Extracting and Saving GIF’s

If you use Twitter, you’ve undoubtedly have come across a GIF that you just have to have for future use in your posts or texts. Problem is Twitter does everything in its power not to let you save it. Enter this app. Just copy the Twitter link, paste it into GIFwrapped search, and save it to your library. BAMM! Then easily access it when texting by using GIFwrapped in the iMessage tray. Sweet and simple solution. I don’t write app reviews often, but when I do it’s because it’s well deserved.

The (Unnecessary?) Update

GIFwrapped has worked great for me for the past 4-6 months I’ve had it. Then all of the sudden it didn’t work for 4-5 days this past week, and when it finally did start working, I have 12 copies of every gif I had in my library. Then today, I saved a .gif from Twitter and then looked in my library, and there’s 12-15 copies of the .gif! Why is it continuing to automatically make multiple copies of the .gifs in the library??? 🤨
I’m guessing updates are a necessary evil to keep things functioning, but that’s just a guess on my part! (But I generally have found GIFwrapped useful, so thank you for that).

I like it

I really like using GIFwrapped as a dedicated gif library/search tool rather than trying to use a keyboard gif. I am having a strange problem where search results do not load any gifs when I am connected to my WiFi network. I think this issue definitely has something to do with my network, as I had just set up a new system and had not had a problem with this app on WiFi before. (It is a Linksys Velop setup.)

Great When It Works

GIFwrapped used to work great for me till a few months ago. Then I started to use it more by saving images to Dropbox on a PC but they never sync in GIFwrapped . This isn't able to handle a large library of Gifs. It constantly loads images and often crashes. I have tried to clear cache and data in-app and restart my device but it doesn't help. Hope this is able to be fixed soon.

GIFWrapped is magical

I really like being able to build my own library of GIFs to use for any occasion. My favorite feature is probably GIFwrapped extension for quickly scraping GIFs from online, social media, other apps, etc.

The new iCloud support is just what I wanted. I’m trying to move everything into there to save money with online storage, so that was perfect timing!

Down the drain

Paid subscriber. :( A formerly top 5 app of mine, even with some flaws (iCloud sync never worked). It has just quit working. You do the capture — I liked using the share sheet — and it appears to do something, but no gif is saved. Maybe one time in 10. very frequently it doesn’t find the gif to save. no apparent pattern or consistency in this behavior. It was great while it lasted. so snagged some sweet gifs. No more. Update: I just removed and reinstalled — won’t even successfully retrieve my paid subscription. Just a “cute” error message. Arrrrrrgh.

My favorite gif app

The ability to keep my favorites from anywhere I find them in one place is a must for me, as well as being able to save them from twitter easily just makes it even better. Pro sub worth it just for that imo.
I use Dropbox for syncing and haven’t had any issues like I see with the iCloud peoples.

not saving

It seems I can’t save directly from Twitter anymore. When I try to save something I either can’t (it tries to but doesn’t finish the task) or it “saves” but when I check this app it isn’t there. I have to manually copy the address and paste it on GIFwrapped to save gifs and that ruins it for me because I want the process to be quick and easy. Manually saving feels too long to do so I hope you look into this.

Still number one!

I had the 5th gen iPod Touch and it would crash often 😭 upgraded to the 6th and almost no crashing at all 😬👌 good thing cause I got like 2000 images on there! It loads up quick and easy after downloading all them to GIFwrapped itself- keep up the fantastic work and upgrades 👍

My favorite gif zone

This is my most used app. I use Twitter and Reddit a lot and can’t go in there without my buddy this app. Added it to my share sheet and just wait for that check sign, then we’re good to go. I love showing off my this app collection like I’m a reaction connoisseur. Browsing all my gifs I saved is zen.

New version isn’t an improvement

Really like GIFwrapped, but the new version doesn’t work too well... GIFwrapped now opens! However, why are all the gifs in my library showing each frame of each gif. It is better when it just shows one thumbnail of each gif so you can browse your library easier; like the way it used to be.

Great app, wish it worked with Tweetbot

This is a fantastic app for GIF management. It has stopped working with Tweetbot, however. Hardly makes me want to give it up, but an issue I wish was fixed. Leaving my rating at 5 ★ because I’m not sure if the issue with with GIFwrapped , Tweetbot, or Twitter.

Keeps getting better

Been using GIFwrapped for a while, and it's cool to see this new update to support live photos and bursts.

I'm having fun exploring my live photos and bursts, because I don't have to hold down on the screen to activate the animation, and it automatically loops. And for the ones I really like, I can export to gif.

Great app but lately has a bug

I’ve been using GIFwrapped for quite a while and love it but within past few weeks the search feature is only returning about 100 gifs when the result number is like 10,000. Any help would be appreciated so I can gettin back to fully enjoying GIFwrapped

Great app

Loved it till the most recent version caused it to no longer connect with Dropbox. Can’t access any of my gifs now. UPDATE—Suddenly things seem working today. See my tweets to you with more details
ONE MORE UPDATE: Great response to my bug report. Appreciated the fast email reply. This version fixed the bug!
