Worse App I’ve used to date 2018

I put 4 star to maybe have people stop and think twice before making the mistake I’ve made! I purchased the lifetime subscription as it came strongly recommend from a blog site I trust! Well as soon I installed it; it worked fine but if the iPhone goes to sleep it will disconnect and it will re-connect only if I unlock phone (and yes I contacted support and they said change setting to WiFi and cellular) which means it should stay connected allll the time right? Nope not this service it won’t! Plus like many other users I’ve to always delete and re-install KeepSolidVPNUnlimited to get connected again due to random issue such as not being able to get the little switch icon to switch to connect. It’s a very stressful vpn that I advice new users to not get it. I hate writing reviews bc am I am a father and have two full time jobs but I knew I had to stop and share my experience for others to know.

Be Careful what you click

So I initially subscribed to VPN only, thinking I would also receive up to five devices with the account. When my trial period ended I attempted to add VPN to my iPad, at which point I was taken to this company‘s website and that when things got confusing. At that point a Mono Defense account was added to my subscriptions and I was charged again even though I clicked the “I already have one” option when asked if I had an account. I would assume that would mean I would not be charged again so I continued with the process. Checking today I see I now have two accounts and when I reached out to the company personally I was told that I added account that was not connected to my Apple ID and they cannot do anything about refunding the money that I spent on the additional account and I would have to jump through hoops in order to get things squared away. They were very nice, however the whole experience is a bit tedious that they are suggesting. Sadly I like the VPN which is all I really wanted but this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth and I am looking at other VPN options to see if there’s anybody better.

Total Frustration

I bought a lifetime subscription because the price was right and it came recommended from various sources. It won't stay connected and prevents me from using my iPhone 6S+ as I'd like. I have continuously contacted Support and have done everything they've asked/suggested yet the problem continues. I've tried using various locations and get the same issues. I can't use connections outside the US because I use Pandora and it's not available out the US. I shut off my phone constantly or reinstall KeepSolidVPNUnlimited constantly in order to be able to use FB/email/internet/Pandora but I shouldn't have to do this. From reading the reviews it's obvious I'm not the only one with this issue. It seems 9/10 people have this problem so I don't understand why it's not a high priority to resolve it. I don't use wifi specifically so that my phone isn't trying to connect whenever I pass by a wifi spot. I have unlimited data so using LTE is not an issue. It seems that people using Apple products are having the issue more than others based on comments. Maybe that should be an indication that's an area that needs special focus on resolution. I just want KeepSolidVPNUnlimited to work the way any app should work...it should WORK AT ALL TIMES

5 stars if VPN toggle switch in Settings worked

I love VPN Unlimited, and the customer service has been 5-star to me. I have found only a few websites that won't run while I am using it (e.g., Ticketmaster). However, that's Ticketmaster's fault and not VPN Unlimited. The primary reason for downgrading VPN Unlimited to 4-stars is that I have to log into KeepSolidVPNUnlimited to turn VPN Unlimited on/off instead of using the vpn switch in the Settings (both on the iPhone and iPad). It's not too bad as touch log in makes it simpler. However, if you're at a site where you need to turn VPN off, IMO, it would be easier to just go to Settings than to find KeepSolidVPNUnlimited . Other than that, I really like having anonymity with VPN Unlimited. I tested internet speeds and thus far have seen no difference with VPN on/off. I definitely am glad I purchased the infinity subscription.

Update: Support did tell me how to use the iOS switch (vpn setting in Setting>General). Locks up on iPad every once in awhile though, or mysteriously turns off. When it locks up I have to delete and reinstall.

It's a great app!

Secure your Internet connection from prying eyes the easy way and make it safer to use free public WiFI where it's available! KeepSolidVPNUnlimited automatically locates the server closest to you with the least latency which means you'll get the best performing server no matter where you live.

I live so close to Canada that the best server for me is physically located there but switching to a US based server so I can use services only available in the US is easy. Just open KeepSolidVPNUnlimited , look at the list of close servers and tap the one you want.

KeepSolidVPNUnlimited will configure the connection for you taking most of the setup out of it. I work in IT so I know how to manually configure the connection on my own if necessary but my wife does not and KeepSolidVPNUnlimited makes it incredibly easy. Just give it permission to allow it to configure your VPN connection when automatically promoted the first time you open KeepSolidVPNUnlimited and it does it for you!

Love the Unlimited VPN...but the software is buggy and fatally flawed

I purchased the lifetime Unlimited VPN service with 10 seats and it has worked well (for the most part) other that the fatally flawed bug that freezes your system and blocks all access to WiFi every couple of days or so.

The problem seems to be that on a regular basis, when it has been running for a while, if the iPad or iPhone goes to sleep with KeepSolidVPNUnlimited active, when you come back to resume your session, KeepSolidVPNUnlimited reports that there is no internet connection - and there isn’t (because the VPN App is blocking access. You cannot shut down KeepSolidVPNUnlimited at this point. A reboot - even a cold boot - reloads KeepSolidVPNUnlimited in its’ frozen state. The only way to recover from this lockout failure (the fatal flaw) is to delete KeepSolidVPNUnlimited . As soon as you delete KeepSolidVPNUnlimited, WiFi will be restored (without rebooting or restarting or otherwise reconnecting to your WiFi) proving that the problem lies in KeepSolidVPNUnlimited and its’ integration into the iOS system.

If you don’t mind this happening up to you, download and use now - otherwise I’d recommend waiting for an Update that fixes this fatal bug or use another App or secure browser instead.

Significantly impacts your browsing/phone experience

I’ve used VPN Unlimited sparingly over the past three years due to issues that impact my phone experience. As I’m trying once again to use KeepSolidVPNUnlimited in earnest, I continue to have these issues:
KeepSolidVPNUnlimited continues to slow down my Internet connection significantly, sometimes not loading websites at all.
KeepSolidVPNUnlimited does not appropriately identify when I’m on cellular vs. my local network. Settings say I’m on cellular when I’ve deactivated cellular on my device (for testing).
KeepSolidVPNUnlimited does not seem to respect or apply settings to the whitelisted networks I've identified, so I need to toggle protection on/off manually.
Overall not recommended due to performance of the VPN. It’s an unfortunate fact of life that VPNs are needed in our perilous world. This one seems to offer adequate protection and, when it works well, is barely noticeable, but too often it negatively impacts your device speed and misidentifies networks often enough that I’ve lost confidence in it. I’ll probably explore some other options for the sake of convenience.

(No longer) Locks up phone. Worse on iPad

Update: the updates seem to have helped and I’m rarely having issues with KeepSolidVPNUnlimited . It integrates well with my devices. Overall, a good VPN.

Previous: Just ok when it works. Has major issues with iPad. Logs me out of wifi connection consistently. When I try to log back on, KeepSolidVPNUnlimited inhibits it. Biggest problem is when it's preventing a website or app from connecting, I open KeepSolidVPNUnlimited to switch it off, however, every time KeepSolidVPNUnlimited is opened, it automatically tries to switch on and connect to VPN server. So half the time,I have to wait for it to connect so I can disconnect it. The other half of the time, it just locks up, thereby locking up my device's internet connection. And there's no way to disrupt it. Not closing KeepSolidVPNUnlimited . Not switching off VPN in iOS settings (KeepSolidVPNUnlimited has control and just switches it back on). So my only recourse is to delete KeepSolidVPNUnlimited and re-download it. I'm really regretting signing on for a one-year subscription.

Know what to expect

And what not to expect from a Service like this (or any product for that matter) before you purchase and subsequently trash talk a company or product because you don’t know how to use it. I will admit I’m highly advanced On the Microsoft side more so than iOS. This was also the first purchase I’ve ever made for a VPN I’ve used them in the corporate world but have never had to pay for one. I bought my unlimited membership during a Microsoft special during Black Friday 2016 (I believe don’t quote me on when I bought it LOL.) But I will tell you it was at a tremendous discount. There were some frustrations with in a Gratian and getting signed into my personal account through KeepSolidVPNUnlimited which is available at KeepSolidVPNUnlimited Store but once I got everything correct as far as credentials and being properly logged into my own account. I have had no issues or more correctly I haven’t had any issues LOL.

By

I haven’t seen better yet.

Actually I was already expecting that this is just another VPN app which works when it wants with an ugly interface. But i was wrong. It has a lovely interface with tons of options for a VPN app. If you want you can buy your own IP for instance, I believe it is very useful for business related usage.
Moreover, there are multiple VPN protocols to choose from (including wireguard)
Speed is very good. They even arranged tv and streaming service options therefore you can always watch hassle free. One more thing, the support. They are incredibly fast and they simply do whatever they can do to make you get most of the product.
I use the macOS, iOS & iPadOS versions and it is perfectly fine on all these platforms. I will give it a try on Windows box also.
I strongly recommend.

Great, functional, affordable VPN.

I’ve been using Keep Solid VPN for some time. A lifetime plan was purchased over a black Friday sale weekend. During the time of use this VPN has provided timely, courteous and effective customer service whenever problems arose. They make continuing efforts to improve the service and seek customer feedback to gauge their performance. The connection from many different points of origin has been strong and reliable. It’s performance doesn’t interfere with private online activity, VOIP service or other such online apps or websites where at least one reputable VPN I’ve accessed did. This VPN has been reviewed in reputable computing publications. The one issue I do have is the service doesn’t undergo a standard audit other reputable VPN’s submit to. This would be a big step forward in establishing their reputation among their competition. Other than that this is a great service worth considering.

Excellent service

This is top of the line for this price and man I can only imagine what a personal server would be like. Send there are frequent sales. Customer service is so good. If there's a problem it won't last and they are human. Protection is excellent. Norton for example only uses open VPN. That's fine for some but they give 4 options and deliver. A couple bucks more than a lot of the trash out there.

OK updated. So I went for the personal server and handed them most every challenge (different OS, my temper)as at first it would not connect. I am persistent and do not give up. I wanted this periodic now! So American. Anyway they patiently and meticulously ferreted out the problem.

And WOW. Did you know you could get this kind of protection at lightning speeds? My goodness. So...perfect deal products staff speed everything. And you can quote me on that

Two Thumbs Up!! Great VPN WorldWide Service!!

I never take the time to write a review but I'm going to now. Took advantage of a lifetime offer and was skeptical. I had a couple issues in the beginning but that most likely my fault using a Windows XP system, and have since upgraded to 7 Pro. When ever I had an issue I would email Support and I'm happy to inform you Support is very quick to respond and always resolved any problem I had. Currently use VPN on desktop, laptop and iPhone without any problems. The ability to easily change servers worldwide is incredibly easy on all devices. On iPhone I use fingerprint to sign on. I don't recall the service ever being down! You won't be disappointed using the Keep Solid VPN!! Best and quickest Tech Support of all my apps!!

Works Very Inconsistently

I have a lifetime subscription to vpn unlimited. It works very well on my desktop/laptop. But KeepSolidVPNUnlimited is too much of a hassle to bear, especially after the latest ui update. It has constant issues that require me to drop what I’m doing and address.

The biggest issues are the network whitelist and kill switch features. The whitelist will constantly malfunction, activating the vpn when I am on a trusted network or even not activating when on untrusted networks.

I will frequently have no internet access at all because the kill switch is active and the connection is hung. I’ve gotten used to re-installing the vpn profile to fix. This combines with the whitelist issue and leads to me having no internet inside my own home. Not fun!

HORRIBLE after update!!!!

I have been using Unlimited VPN for many many years. I’ve had a few glitches here and there but nothing major. After the last ear update, it is horrible!!! I may as well not even use this VPN because I have to keep turning it off I order to use my usually websites and apps. I never had this issue before the update. Periodically, I would have to switch locations but for some reason that no longer works. I also get “connecting” and it won’t connect. When it finally does I have to turn it back off because the website or app won’t let me get on anymore. Another thing, when I clear my profile, the older version whatever’s location I was using would change the IP address. It no longer does that, so I’m not sure what removing my profile even does anymore. Please fix, it’s pretty much worthless now!!!!

Outstanding Service All Around

VPN Unlimited is a service I strongly recommend for all. It was a service from a company I had never heard of and a risk that I took. I am so glad I did. Of course with something that is new, at least with me, I didn’t really understand how it worked. Every question or concern I had was answered in a timely manner and most of all, it was done in a very professional manner. VPN Unlimited has been there for me to resolve any and all issues that I have had. Although it is done through email, they are on top of it and will respond quickly. You definitely will get a response within 24 hours. Keep up the outstanding job! And thank you for being their for your customers.

Was pretty good.....Made Worse

Current review for version - 6.4 (Aug 2019)

I specifically updated to this version because it specifically mentioned being faster on Asia Servers. This is not my experience. I live in Bangkok and the only server that’s decent is the China server. The Bangkok server gave me (consistently) 1Mbps and China is giving me around 12Mbps. Korea and other servers are worthless for me, less than 1Mbps. Very disappointed. For what it’s worth, I git 12 connecting to West Coast USA servers.

****************************************
Version - 4.24.1

Keep Solid has managed to maintain a ”solid” application (pun intended). I’ve been a VPN subscriber for years and I’ve used different services. This service has had some ups and downs, but they have been on one of their ups for a while now and for the first time in a couple years, I’m not renewing my other subscription to a very well known (unmentioned uh-hmm, RED) competitor. Hopefully their priorities continue to align with my VPN needs.

****************************************
Previous Review:

I love this service and it has become much more stable and reliable over the past year. The UI is greatly improved as well.

I don't "always" want it connected, duh! Please remove the notifications telling me that I'm not protected (or at least give me the ability to turn them off)! Thanks

BLUF, it works great, but certainly drains your battery a bit quicker (as should probably be expected).

#MeToo

I had used this VPN app across multiple devices for about a year without issue. Then suddenly my iPad Pro lost the ability to connect to WiFi. It would say that it was connected, but would not retrieve email, use apps that need WiFi, and Safari would continually say that I’m not connected to the internet. It became a useless piece of tech about 4-6 months ago. Unusable.

I didn’t realize that KeepSolidVPNUnlimited was the issue until I began having the same trouble with my iPhone X yesterday. After troubleshooting everything else an Apple technical support representative suggested that it must be one of my downloaded apps that was causing the issue. Recalling that the problem started happening on the iPad Pro around the time that I downloaded and started using the VPN app we deleted it from my iPhone X. INSTANTLY the phone became usable again. Thankfully I only had less than 30 days left on this one year subscription. I’ve cancelled the renewal, and won’t be using this again.

Not only they stopped blocking ads, they actually ad their own to your devices !!!

I choose it a year or two ago because they used to be the only VPN, that had an ad blocking feature, which worked great, after a couple of month and with no warning, they took that away with an upgrade and I lost that feature.

I have been extensively playing with options to block annoying ads, not only in browsers, but also in free apps, till I just discovered the shocking news now. When I open they apps when my VPN is not connected and running, I don't get those horrible flash/ java scrips like video ads, which drive my nuts for couple of years

This is not right and very unethical .... just because they are not making more money on you, specially if you choose lifetime subscription, that doesn't give them the right to inject horrible ads into your devices, instead of what they were supposed to do when you subscribed to their services... shame on them

Aggressive Ad Aggregate: Lifetime “Pro” Edition

Stop trying to sell me your products. At no point ever in my life has a full-screen popup initiated innocently enough through alternative action reminded, coerced or tricked me into compliance. After an increasingly annoying update frequency schedule made itself known I decided to start docking stars. If all it did was what it claims it would be a five-star app but if I knew I would be seen as nothing more than a resource to whom the development team can SELL SELL SELL I would not have subjected myself to their stupid little announcement board; I go out of my way to eliminate that stuff from my life and sooner than later you’ll irritate me to the point of cutting my losses and getting these needs met elsewhere, trashing you and my bought-and-paid-for experience with your company forevermore. Tone it down.

Hands down the best VPN out there.

They provide the best prices and offer awesome lifetime deals on private servers. I’m getting 325 megabytes up/down, I’m reaching out to them to see if I can get even faster speeds. $19 a month for a private server!??? $99 for a lifetime subscription. I found a deal on the net for $40. I did that a number of times and now I have 20 devices connected! For life. Also they have other great software m, a DNS service and a great little known browser that you know nobody has exploited because not many people
Use it. I also use there photo app aswell. Great stuff. This VPN does have its problems streaming on it is hot and cold sometimes but I know they are working to fix that. And customer support will not help be configured my router even though I spend $77 a month with them plus the $169 I spend last month. But they are a small company from Russia. I would like to see the Linux app run without crashing as much and also a Version that runs in the terminal b/c it is just easier to use and takes less resources. Best vpn hands down. Don’t forget to use DDWRT, DNS over TLS, day DNSSEC and encrypted SNI before you bit the VPN.

Awesome price; great service

Been using this vpn while testing others for few years now as an IT Admin.
The UI updates continue to get better yet from time to time, the updates cause connection issues with iOS. Something to do when iPhone sleeps then you wake it up and the vpn does not connect rendering me to manually force close app in settings and reconnect. Happens about 2 out of 10 times, not a dealbreaker but should be addressed better (yes, I’ve submitted many tickets and logs) as well as a “kill” switch like many other vpns have. If vpn is not connected, internet access should not be allowed otherwise you could be unprotected all night while your iPhone is transmitting sensitive dats from some backup apps as well as iPhone/ipad backup.
Windows and OS X app seems to work flawlessly.

By

No major issues

I like the application, it usually runs in the background without any intervention from me. A couple things though; the VPN doesn't always connect "on demand," especially when using an iPhone, something to do with 3-4g instead of a wireless router, maybe? Another minor issue is some sites do not play well with proxies, like Netflix for example. I have noticed though, that when online at home using my wireless router, my laptop notebook has no problem playing Netflix through a VPN, but my iPad will not play Netflix through a proxy, period. Apple vs PC perhaps? Either way, I feel much better using a VPN & this one works great. Actually, other than occasionally having to wait a few minutes, it does a fantastic job for me.

iPhone X; Battery; UI and my thoughts.

So I upgraded to iPhone X and loving it I decided to go stealth and look into VPN’s and most national reviews recommended KeepSolidVPNUnlimited (VPN Unlimited.) I have not been using very long so my experience is immature. UI is great, very simple that for me is a good thing. Currently I have two cellular bars and I haven’t notice any speed drops in fact it seems faster. However, only thing I do notice is a battery drain. I allowed KeepSolidVPNUnlimited to do its own thing in settings so, battery drainage could be a settings issue.

Personally I like apps that are cleanly design and easy to use. Developers also have other apps I am enjoying as well. Anyone into Cryptocurrency need to protect themselves and I recommend KeepSolidVPNUnlimited for protection.
