Quik - GoPro Video Editor Reviews

I have no idea where to start. I recently had my GoPro Hero 3 die and I have tried everything I know to do to fix it but it would not film videos right. Granted this GoPro is over 6 years and I filmed tons and tons and tons with it. It was my main camera for everything so I took it everywhere. I did not want to get a new GoPro because I was afraid that it might not work or fail at an extraordinary moment that I could never again see. I have bought a GP Hero 7 Black and I can seriously not say enough. It has blown me away as a camera all the things that they have improved, fixed, made easier, more fun, interactive etc. The stabilization is amazing and I love it. It is one of those things you don’t know about until you have it then you always want to have it. The software (this app, GoPro software, Splice, this app Desktop, GoPro app for iPhone) is fast and able to keep up with me. The joining (through Quik by joining the wifi feature on the new GoPro through Quik ) is truly awesome and helpful. Another one of those things you have and you don’t know you have it but then you don’t want to leave it. GoPro is really one of my favorite new companies.

Literally just googled “editing software for vertical iPhone videos. Got an article that suggested a few. This one was described as simple. Got it. Opened it. It had pics from different days/locations in my library bunched together with a title “An Afternoon in Sausalito” was some pics from a cool hike I took with my family over Thanksgiving. I didn’t need it but figured I’d see what they’d do: they had a title page and music and they edited the whole thing and slapped it together. I tried a different template and got the same thing with a different title page and guitar strumming which matches the mood better (but it looks like there’s an option to pull songs in from my music library too). Holy crap. It’s kind of awesome! Can’t wait to use it for what I actually got it for. I’m impressed!! Thank you to whom ever built this thing!!! Just saved me tons of time and energy.

I really want to like Quik. It is great. But you came to the reviews for the truth. Here it is:
-You can’t export in 4K :( what’s the point of a 4K camera!? (videos are LOW quality)
-it produces an amazing video but there’s just that one part they cut out that you can’t easily change/add
-make one tiny change or add a photo or video and it changes the entire video. This is a really big bummer. My biggest problem. I love the video but I want to add a photo or something and it recreates the video and it’s different. Cutting good parts out :(
-adding in to the last point you can’t really edit what parts are included or not. You can use highlights or trim but it’s not the same nor easy. Kind of a big issue since this is supposed to be a video EDITOR.
-Quik crashes. A LOT!
-why is this not just part of the GoPro app? I have to have two apps on my phone taking up precious space.
**overall a great app but the developers really need to work harder on these points.
**Now for the good stuff. the reason why it still gets the 4 stars.
-this app is Quick! Very fast
-it does a really good job on selecting the scenes to include. (Just a bummer that they change if you edit it)
-provides music so you don’t need licensing
-edit everything right from your phone
-connects over WiFi to the cam
-convenient and easy to use
*Worth the download I just hope the developers fix those issues I pointed out!

Quik is incredible! I love it! There is a bit of a learning curve in learning how to use it, but once you play around with it, you find that it’s really quite easy. I love that you can choose a theme for your presentation and that some are simple and then some are just plain fun! Very refreshing! My only complaint is that not all of my pictures show up when I go to choose from my photo library. Some appear as if they are just plain black boxes (don’t know how else to describe it). I could not figure out where all of my pictures were, but once I started tapping on the black squares where pictures should be, I could see the pictures that were located there. Not sure why they were hidden. I found this to simply be a nuisance and not worth a less than perfect rating for Quik. Get it! You won’t regret it!

Wow, the best video app I have ever used and definitely my favorite one out of any apps out there! My favorite part about this video is that I have so many pictures and when I get to put them together they pick a song for the length of the video and having all of the pictures together with a song just just warms your heart seeing all the memories put in one video! My boyfriend and I did one of our pups and it’s just wonderful! You can choose different layouts and music & they just make it super easy for you. if you have a lot of pictures of your dogs, kids, family and want to put it all together-this is the best app for you! I promise you, you’re going to keep it for the rest of your life! Thank you GoPro for making it so easy & having it out here for free for us because I wouldn’t want to use any other app! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT ♥️

So many things that are great about Quik. (1) easy selection of highlights that you want to appear in the vid, just tap. (2) you can include media captured within our outside of your GoPro device (3) tons of well thought out templates, (4) a good selection of music for different moods, (5) this is the best part - scenes transition automatically to the rhythm of the music your select. Even if you’ve opted to import your own soundtrack Quik will analyze that music and “find the beat” amazing! Pretty customizable and the result is a beautiful, engaging video without have to have “expert” video editing know-how.

So glad I downloaded this.

Quik is easy to use and makes some good short videos really fast. It has a good selection of effects and music (wouldn't mind if they added more!). It is super easy to use! I also really like that it uses old photos from your library and create a new video!

But it crashes alot. Haven't quite figured out why, I'm thinking it can't load large videos. I tried editing a large Quikstory, which caused it to crash. Now when I open Quik it immediately tries to edit that QuickStory and it would crash. So I can't even edit or download any existing videos. I have to delete and reinstall Quik to get it working again and all the videos I created are gone. Worked with customer support and we were not able to figure it out.

Good app, but just download your videos once you are finished in case Quik crashes infinitly.

I loved using Quik up until two weeks ago when it decided to never load any videos i add on anymore. I have made countless videos with Quik love how you can create so many different styles, everything worked well up until two weeks ago when i went to make a new video, uploaded around 8 clips ranging to the 1 minute and 48 seconds. I go and trim the videos and go to duration section and it’s stuck on 23 seconds. Nothing will change i change format from square to cinema and it stuck just loading and loading, i have deleted Quik completely reinstalled and still stuck on 23. I deleted all info from iCloud app and re downloaded it. Still stuck, i hope gopro resolves this issue fast if it’s an update on iPhone issue. Or a software issue on their end but i have been wanting to make a video for the past two weeks and can’t at all

Every once in awhile it will just freeze while saving. It gets to 100% then just stays there. I try to go back to restart editing and I can’t. Try to save in other ways and it gets to 100% then freezes. I tried shutting Quik down then restarting, but it takes me right back to the same screen. I ended up having to completely delete Quik and download it again. Lost all my previous videos!!!

Also I wish you could customize the text and edit where in the video it goes. I will sometimes have 2 minute clips and would like to be able to insert text later in the clip or have them on the clip longer than 1 second. Also would like to have some font choices!! Most all other video editors have these options and are much more difficult to use. I know this is possible!! Lets see it!!!

Ok app. What I don’t understand is that if an app is just simple like I have video shot in portrait mode and want it to crop in squat without any effects then that’s not possible with mute or default background music. I have got video which shows many effects which I don’t want but just want to turn it into squar view so that vertical long height view can be adjusted. Quik gives many options this and that but not simple minimalist one option that get your video chane to square mode and then mute or keep default sound. Problem is that even if I use raw format and then select squar it doesn’t crop right way as like we select other effect and then squar. I don’t know who designed such a forceful effects then only change to square mode. Just ok fancy app. Better than stupid iMovie app which is good for nothing complex confusing app in which one cant even no where file is what happening to it where is that going.

Just used for first time to make a video slideshow where I added music from my own library. I’m just an amateur & wanted to share more inviting videos for my baking on social media. The end result looked extremely professional thanks the the templates Quik provides. The 2 things I wish it did though was let me control the text a little easier for how & when it would appear (although I admit in the end Quik generated something that looked way better than what I would have done). I’ve tried about 7 different apps to create slideshows and the user friendly approach of this one with the cool templates is by far my favorite! Looking forward to using it more & getting more knowledgeable of the features.

Quik is AMAZING I have made so many edits on Quik I love it so so much for me this is a must have and it 100% free I haven’t paid a penny on Quik witch I love there are different editing modes witch is very handy when you make a lot of slides like I do, How did I find Quik you may be asking, I looked up slide show makers and I was desperately in need for a free,good working app I downloaded so many and then I downloaded this one and this was the only one I liked I worked on Quik and I started to love it more and more big thanks to Quik it has changed me so much ❤️

This is potentially a great app, BUT a project never survives long edits! I mean after some tweaking - adding/removing clips, trimming, etc. all of a sudden, my projects get corrupted every time, before I even can save it, because I have no idea when exactly the death of it is coming! It’s soo frustrating! I was almost done with my third project (the first two were brutally corrupted) and here it happened again - an error occurred, it said! And there’s nothing to be done, but to start all over again and hopefully be able to bring it to the finish line this time! Such a gamble! What a shame! Quik is not powerful enough for comfortable and sturdy edits! Please, work on it! Quik needs improvements!!! I hope these problems will be fixed soon! I like Quik a lot, but it’s hardly possible to use it! Please, fix it! Thanks!

Quik has the basics and for someone who needs to create quick, decent-looking product videos (for FREE), but Quik itself is just OK. Some of the features appear to be buggy, or are just weird. The duration feature is useless, it seems to set images to whatever duration it wants (long usually is OK, but regular and short, no). this app tells you you have to upload at least five images but if you upload five and then delete one later it’s fine... I noticed today that one of the templates was combining two of the images into one for whatever reason, but if I changed the order then all the images would be separate, it was just two specific images. I don’t get it. So yea, Quik is just OK.

Quik is one of the best “quick” video making, storytelling app out there period.
It’s easy to use and one of the very few apps out there which I personally believe is intuitive.
I answered an ominous survey by GoPro where I got the hint that they my retire Quik and have one GoPro app which most likely will be subscription based. I hate the idea of it and the subscription concept all together.
I hope they keep Quik and don’t mess with it, GoPro will definitely lose this long times customer and user if they do so.
