There are lots of great meditations in this app, well worth the money.
However, the big problem is that on first open (and random opens after that) the app goes to a spinning circle with “downloading media” and absolutely no progress bar. This can take 10-30 minutes (I’m on a fast internet connection!) and naturally it can’t do this in the background so if the phone is locked or the app isn’t in the foreground it seems to make no progress at all. There’s a “skip update” button that’s apparently just for show because it doesn’t do anything.
Basically, on first install and at random times after that, you have to turn off your auto lock and dedicate your entire phone to waiting on this massive update that doesn’t even tell you if it’s making progress.

This app didn’t provide as much guidance with breathing and meditation for every category as I wished. Since I paid for this app, I tried it out whenever I could. However, I noticed that I kept going back to the free guided meditations on the Calm app and Aware app. When I realized that I hadn’t been using this app at all (and even avoiding it), I thought I should write this review.
It gets 3 stars because the layout and the amount of content is impressive. However, the guided meditations in this app are just not my thing. There isn’t enough focus on breathing I think. My mind keeps wandering and I realize halfway through that I’m not even listening to the audio at all. I feel like the other apps give constant gentle reminders (regardless of category) to bring me back into focus. This feels more like an app for those who simply want a friend to make them aware of their surroundings as they do daily tasks... rather than themed sit-down guided breathing meditations.

After searching in vain for an *affordable* and easy-to-use meditation app, I found buddhify. I love the customizability of the wheel. However, I would love to see its iPad version receive some love. Most meditation apps skip this. Headspace and all the others have a universal app, but, like buddhify, they only function in portrait mode. Many users are ditching their MacBooks and use iPads in landscape with a keyboard, or with split screen or slide-over. I’d love to see buddhify be one of the first mindfulness apps to accommodate these features, especially when there are sessions for being online or at work.
Anyway, I love the affordability, the family-led company, and everything else. Please keep up the good work!
