Downgrading a star because somehow this is still an issue, making this app completely useless if you’re looking to sell gear locally. Come on folks! Didn’t Etsy buy you?? They have this totally figured out. Could you get on the horn with their tech team to help you out?
If you’re looking to buy small gear through the mail, you’re gonna love Reverb. If, however, you’re looking for someone in your area that has what you need, sadly, Reverb is not your tool. Somehow they’ve decided Craigslist is still best for local searches. Yes, Reverb does have a button on their app to search locally. But, almost laughably, that feature doesn’t let you search for specific items. So, in other words, you’re welcome to browse EVERYTHING at once in your local area. But if you’re wanting to see who is selling, say, a piano in LA and not Tulsa? Nope. Craigslist is your best bet. It’s perplexing because Etsy is SO good at this, allowing you to easily search for items within an area. After they bought Reverb it looked as if they could bring their UX knowledge to the Reverb team. Alas, Craigslist continues as the undisputed winner in local search for music gear, despite Reverb having the ability to solve this in a weekend with a good UX designer. Oh well! Reverb, if you ever decide you wanna get into local search, I’ll be using this app constantly for my studio.

Awful! We would’ve made more money at guitar center and that’s sad. We listed a fender guitar for $50 with $50 shipping. Once the guitar was purchased the label calculator said the cost would be $22 to ship. Once we went to purchase the label (literally 5 minutes later) it said it would be 53 to ship! There was an option on the same page for $5 for reverb’s shipping label and protection. Based on the app, we were under the impression we would pay the $5 to ensure we had insurance on the guitar and pay for an actual label at the UPS store. We went ahead and purchased what we thought was a $5 protection plan under reverb. We verified that did not have a $53 on our account (to avoid buying two labels) and went to UPS to purchase a label. The woman told us it was a $29 charge and we thought that was the end of it. Well turns out we have to pay reverb $58 plus their seller fees and the $29 from UPS is just for a box! I called to speak to a Reverb representative to explain our confusion and ask why I didn’t have a $53 charge pending on my account. He said I will get a bill statement and then pay reverb! If the charge would have been there I guarantee we would NOT have kept the process going. We would have called to void that charge and canceled the order for the guitar on reverb. Protect yourself and don’t give your instruments away for nothing. Don’t sell on reverb.

Original: Had a good time buying and selling on Reverb. Now the company has blocked me for failing to pay a bill I am contesting. They are not working with me and refuse to call me to get things fixed. Sellers and buyers beware, what they claim to be isn’t how they treat their customers. If you like your money, go elsewhere, there is no respect for it from their company.
Update: had a surprise bill added on to my account for “shipping label update” for $1.08 six months ago. Now my account is suspended again for a surprise and now contested charge. They fixed the first one, now I get to see if they’ll fix this. I got the no hassle insurance both times. I am concerned with attaching another card to the account because they charge with no bill, email or contact. It’s only a dollar, but I bet they’d do it just as easily with $5k. I’m almost done with this shady business and lack of respect for time and money.
