i saw AmberDraw on instagram and i figured it could be a cool new way to do animated commissions. boy, was i wrong. there was no options for any still brushes, ALL OF THEM ARE ANIMATED, which was not said here nor on the ad on instagram. secondly, there are only a few brushes you actually CAN use, and the rest are hidden by a paywall. and lastly, you can only have such a big canvas. if it exceeds anything over 5000 pixels, AmberDraw seems like it’s going to combust. you’re better off using the animated features on ibis paint or procreate, or drawing something on an entirely different app and putting it into this one, then adding your animated affects. 2/10.
This definitely feels like a beta version instead of a real 'full' release. I assume you guys are scrambling to get things done so I'll try to focus on others thoughts I had during my time testing out AmberDraw .
Some ideas/changes that should be made:
・Select tool - What this will do, is select a specific line you have made and change the timing of it, length of it, speed, color and other options like in the brush menu. If you select mulpitle lines at a time (excluding gradients) you will be able to change them all at once to the same settings.
・Loopable lines (like the moving gradient ones) should be more seemless. If I want the line to keep going seemleesly into it's shape, I have to retrace it over and over without picking my pen up.
・Change the color picker, it's awkward to use because of how zoomed in it is. Also sometimes the color doesn't change to the picked color, not entirely sure why.
・Adding all the necessary tools such as, fill bucket (please god), move tool to simply move a group or layer of lines, local recolorization for recoloring all lines on one page, tutorial/guids. I saw you're already working on layers so that's good.
・Shape stamps to place around and trace over might be nice to map out stuff.
・Having more length options for the lines. By this I mean that, whever I draw a line it almost always gets cut off and its very difficult to use sometimes. It's also very bad with tight corners.
That's pretty much it, the concept overall is very neat, I've always loved the wiggle line aesthetic and this is perfect for that! Just needs a lot more touching up. Good luck with it :]
Hi, I love playing AmberDraw and have shared it to many different friends and I love the cool brushes and the nice easy layout the layer are great I’ve never had a bad bug except that my drawing disappeared but when I clicked the canvas it was there but soon it was back to normal! I have lots of fun with AmberDraw and so does my cat lol! Overall AmberDraw is good for self conscious beginner artists because of the brushes I think it can inspire them and show them that creativity is wacky not precise or perfect! Love AmberDraw reviews need to be better!
I love this concept and it is fun to just do it all but to make this more appealing to digital artists and graphic designers I would include the ability to edit the eraser size and only erase certain sections instead of erasing the entire line that was just drawn. I would also include more brushes or the ability to buy brushes and download them like in Procreate. and I would include a color wheel to make color selection more seamless instead of choosing the color from the brush settings. also consider allowing the artist to create their own brush, and their own form of animation on there to use as a brush.
I’m starting to use now. Interesting tool.
A couple observations and suggestions:
1- no subscription option. If compared to procreate, how about a one time purchase option?
2-export options would be great. I’d love an option to export png sequence w/ alpha channel. Also to be able to export to folders, not only to photo app.
3- layers. I see others have mentioned and you’ve said that’s in future plans
4-option to setup project dimensions etc.
5- I like scribble, color noise and jitter brushes best because of their more random analog ‘feel’. Is it possible to introduce a parameter for that sort of ‘random’ edge or shape to other brushes?
6-can you post a website link so we can know more about the developer? Who they are, where they’re based, other tools they may have worked on and any tips/instruction/info on this app app. W/out this I was hesitant to try app. Usually avoid apps without more info - could be virus/spam.
I can see using AmberDraw integrated into other projects. I tend to work across apps and then composite the footage from different apps together in after effects. That’s why the export options (point #2) are relevant and important to me.
Cheers and keep up the good work on AmberDraw.
First: I love the concept, and think this would be a great way to add some pop so artwork without too much effort. However, it is pretty basic and there isn’t much you can do. The image import doesn’t work for me, and I wish there was a smoke brush effect too for a quick ‘lofi’ animation effect. Just things of that nature.
I love AmberDraw, just downloaded it today chat. Although there are very few brushes it is amazing because I don’t want to keep tracing my art to make it look animated. In my opinion there’s only a lil problem, it’s the fact that when I try to erase it gets rid of the whole line. That line was so perfect.. 💔 BUUUUT ANYWAYYYY this is sososososoosososososoososososoososo goooood and gorgeous!!! Have a lovely day ;3
Probably one of the most interesting and fun drawing apps I’ve come across recently, however some things need to be ironed out. Like how the eraser has no outline, etc. but I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt since it’s a relatively new app and I’m guessing there’s more to come. Either way, it’s a pretty fine app for what it’s worth. I just hope that more will come.
This is honestly a genius idea, having your drawings animate itself in a sense. I wish they do more with it though because it very bare minimum, you can draw, erase, undo, and change the animation settings but that’s basically it. I’m sure dozens of people would want it if they just added some more drawing features and such.
I'm so glad that I finally found a drawing app that has a scribble brush like that!! The only reason why I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I think it would be nice to have multiple layers for a drawing instead of a singular one for each canvas. And I also am not a huge fan of the erase tool but I can live with that. Other than those two things, this is great!
Couple feedback: 1. The ending parts of brushes end rather abruptly and it gives the need to hide away the beginning and end of the brush, which may hinder with original design, smoothening it out would be much better. 2. When exporting, setting the default length of drawing to whenever it loops perfectly 3. Have an option to purchase AmberDraw forever like procreate does.
I would love to see more done with AmberDraw as it’s been my favorite thing to draw for weeks now. I wish there were layers. I wish there was an option to add in an existing photo/drawing and then being able to remove it. I also wish there was a feature to at least center your work. I would pay for this if it had a premium option or something.
I like how it's free with no ads and all the tools are easy to use. Also, I love the idea of animated brushes, I'm obsessed! However, I wish there could be brushes that were still for some contrast. I think it'd be nice to have animated details without it being the whole drawing, and I can think of many possibilities with that concept! Otherwise, I think AmberDraw is quite innovative and I can't wait to see all the things people do with it.
Would love more features for AmberDraw . For example i feel the popularity with totally explode if you allowed users to make and upload their own brushes. I have a great idea for a fish brush that would look so cool. Also I hate subscriptions. Even if its cheap I dont like continuously paying money to maintain access to brushes. If you want to make money I think brush packs are the way. Premium brushpacks that are regularly released I would love to buy. Maybe people can sell custom brushes on a marketplace you host and you get a cut of the profits. One last thing would love a slider to fade out the ends of the brush stroke
Being able to draw with animated lines and patterns opens up a lot of creative opportunity - what AmberDraw has so far is basic, Undo, redo, draw, erase, import a background, and some basic animated patterns that are free to use with a few locked behind a paywall - but it’s good start. I would, in the future, like to see functions added for layers, more options for brushes/patterns, and an option to export animated illustrations as transparent/with or without a background. Tools and functions like that would massively improve and expand upon what AmberDraw could do for artists. It’s a cool app so far
This is such a good app I and really hope there is more in the future for the development, because if the ability to add layers was added along with fixing /changing the eraser to working by pixel -I genuinely think AmberDraw could and will be the next big thing. I hope more people find this gem, I absolutely love it.
This is a super fun app for artists and I highly recommend! The main issue I have is that colors are kind of awkward due to having to open up a new menu for it rather than having a color wheel on the side like most drawing softwares. Additionally, color picking from the screen is even more awkward as it opens a magnifying glass that is difficult to aim and then opens up the menu again when it picks the color. I much prefer the color picking on procreate, where you can just hold down part of the screen and pick the color.
One other thing that is kind of a personal preference is that I think a one time purchase plan like procreate would be better than the monthly plan AmberDraw is currently on.
Overall though, I am very impressed by AmberDraw and amazed that no one has made something like this sooner??
To be honest, AmberDraw should be way more popular. The concept behind it is very unique, and I haven’t heard or seen anything else like it. There isn’t a large brush selection, but to be honest the appeal of AmberDraw is very strong with its current variety of brushes, and I have no doubts that the developers will add more in the future.
I would make some slight suggestions about changing things like the color-layout, or adding layers, except those questions have already been answered in previous reviews.
—one thing id like to mention is that I found AmberDraw from a post on tik-tok. I would really recommend that the devs try sponsoring some of the artists on tik-tok for advertising if possible, considering that the artist-community is very active/large on that platform.
(the post I found it from had around 71k likes, with a large majority of people asking if it was available on android/iphone)
(overall, it’s a great app, and I bet it will go far ♥️)
I Love the concept. It’s really fun and I enjoyed testing it out. But there really def a few features I recommend. As an art program it has the basics, but it would be super helpful to have a kind of laso and a resize tool. I dont know if its already in there (if it is then I honestly have no idea where its at) But as I was drawing I found myself needing a laso/resize tool. (laso Fill too could be an added bonus for blocking out shapes) Later down the line you could eventually add in a timeline for animation, The brushes give an already animatic feel and they could save a lot of time.
So I just did five stars for you to see this. K, so I saw AmberDraw and I was like oh this seems super fun!!!! I downloaded it. But when I drew…. Everything was moving! I mean, can’t you just have some brushes that don’t move. I just want to make Lloyd from ninjago with only his powers moving! I also have a few suggestions…. Such as can you make a thing we’re you can see other people’s drawings? Also, can you add some backgrounds you can choose from. And please, pleaseeeeee! Make it so you don’t need a subscription to add all the cool stuff. Pulse, I everyone agrees that it should be free so everyone can have fun. Have a nice day! 👋
Sincerely, Ninjago lover.

The wiggle line aesthetic, finally in an app If you've ever loved the hand-drawn, jittery motion style — in title sequences, illustrated reels, motion posters — AmberDraw is how you make that.
Each brush has its own character: Scribble shakes with nervous energy, Gradient flows like liquid, Particle explodes outward, Charcoal drifts like smoke.
Pick up your Apple Pencil, draw a line, and watch it wiggle, scatter, flow, or pulse — live, as you draw.
Export your animations as video and bring them straight into After Effects, CapCut, or anywhere else you work.
AmberDraw fits into your workflow, not the other way around.
