Use this thing daily because I love the Ticket. But SportsDayTALKwTheTicket is terrible! For the last month or so I have to restart it multiple times. It would just stop streaming and to get it going again I have to close app and restart. Not good if your on delay. I thought maybe it was bad reception in my office at work. But does it at the house with no reception issues.
Was once the greatest thing, not so much anymore. Hopefully they’ll resolve issues. Have to use IHeart radio I guess…
Along with the other reviewers, I have been having major problems with SportsDayTALKwTheTicket for the last 4 weeks. I have a few problems at home on Wifi, but I have major problems using cellular data. It will stop working at any moment. I have to ‘hard’ close SportsDayTALKwTheTicket and restart it, to get it to work again. Closing and restarting SportsDayTALKwTheTicket MULTIPLE times an hour is extremely frustrating. Please fix SportsDayTALKwTheTicket. I love The Ticket and I used to listen all day long, but not now.
I got SportsDayTALKwTheTicket to listen to the Ticket while driving. 2 problems with it:
1. I used SportsDayTALKwTheTicket sporadically over the course of the week. SportsDayTALKwTheTicket somehow consumed over 7 GB of data from streaming 2-3 hours of audio. So now my data has been completely used for the month and I don’t get internet. What in the world was SportsDayTALKwTheTicket doing in the background to consume 7 GB of data?
2. When I listen to SportsDayTALKwTheTicket via Bluetooth in my car, when I turn my car on SportsDayTALKwTheTicket automatically opens and starts playing audio and using data! Even if the sports day app is completely closed out. And when I turn my car off the audio continues playing on the speaker on my phone. The only work around I’ve found is to uninstall SportsDayTALKwTheTicket and re-download it when I want to listen to the ticket again.
Stealing people’s data like this is terrible, if that isn’t a violation of Apple’s Terms of Service it should be.
The way the developers configured SportsDayTALKwTheTicket to secretly open in the background and auto play is incredibly annoying and unethical.
I’ve used SportsDayTALKwTheTicket off and on for nearly a decade and it may be worse than when I started using it.
Scrub bar to go back doesn’t work sometimes, the stream does this weird laggy thing at least once an hour where it stops for about 10 seconds, then plays all the audio being buffered in one sped up ball of noise.
Why does SportsDayTALKwTheTicket play when after I have closed it? That’s weird and concerning. Example: I close SportsDayTALKwTheTicket entirely, then later on connect to CarPlay or headphones and it immediately starts playing the stream. How? I closed it.
Is it really that difficult to update images or names of segments? If so, why have images or names of segments?
Why do you have to tap play 3-4 times to resume playback after pausing?
The ticket should invest in a better app. I’d gladly pay monthly. Instead, I’m just going to stop listening.
If you’re not on Wi-Fi then SportsDayTALKwTheTicket struggles. My Wi-Fi I use at work is around 18d/18u so it’s nothing to write home about. My drive to work (between 35-60 minutes) I get 5G and at times is over 400d. SportsDayTALKwTheTicket still struggles when not on Wi-Fi. I’m guessing SportsDayTALKwTheTicket creator should find a better way to buffer the stream because when I’m paused or rewinding/fast forwarding SportsDayTALKwTheTicket struggles. I also use the XM app and it handles those situations much better. The Ticket will start to lose some listeners to The Freak if we get frustrated because we can’t stream The Ticket. Fix this %$!& Rich!
I suspect SportsDayTALKwTheTicket drains the battery unnecessarily compared to other streaming audio apps.
Also, the host pictures are awful. They look were clearly done as cheaply as possible. The Photoshopping is amateur-level, and the pictures haven’t been updated in years. Photoshop is supposed to make people look better, not worse.
The segment titles are frequently wrong. It will say “Dallas Stars vs. Team X” a week after that game was played. They should just give up on segment titles. The segment titles frequently have too much text to be properly displayed anyway.
Having said that- it looses its place when paused by other apps. Navigation programs, spoken text messages, phone calls. Just jumps to “live”. Nothing buffers the way this thing buffers. If I restart my phone, it seems to improve for a day, but it’s still not “good”. I’ve also tried deleting and reinstalling SportsDayTALKwTheTicket , and deleting SportsDayTALKwTheTicket , shutting off the phone for 20 minutes, and reinstalling. I have SportsDayTALKwTheTicket going 10-12 hours a day during the week, and it requires constant attention.
Two years ago I would review as a 5, best radio station locally and probably nationally. B it t it has changed. Lost Dan at middays and Donavan is starting to not be as good as he was with Norm. I have never been a huge fan of Norm but it worked with Donovan.
Musers are still the best and Hardline is doing great as well. But I can’t keep my radio on for Ticket all day for the two and I do my best to pick them up when I can.
Got Dan on podcast and he is super. Also I know the station is making money but the commercials are getting ridiculously long.
As a P1, it hurts me to write this, but SportsDayTALKwTheTicket has taken a sharp turn into becoming useless. The stream has become intermittent for no good reason at times — limited service or good service (all bars, wifi). This applies to the replay/rewind feature too. I’ve tried to replay or rewind to catch a segment numerous times in the past 3 months, and all it does is display “BUFFERING”… and never resumes the broadcast.
If The Ticket is going to continue to pursue SportsDayTALKwTheTicket partnership, then they should put some decent engineers on this thing. Especially if they’re going to count on their stream numbers for ratings. SportsDayTALKwTheTicket has frustrated me so much recently that I’ve considered just not listening to my favorite station anymore. I’d like to listen to “Muse in the News” live, not just keep my fingers crossed that it shows up on Spotify’s Top Ten podcast list.
Running it on iPhone 12 with newest OS. Have it to hear 1310 the Ticket. I would give it 5 stars but Since installing the newest OS it crashes every 5 minutes or so, mainly while listening under 5G out on my bike. I have to back out of it and start over missing key information and punch lines. This didn’t happen before the OS update.
Tapped on app support on SportsDayTALKwTheTicket Store write up which takes you the Dallas Morning News website for some reason so no technical support available.
Ads in the stream and on the screen above the playback controls - do you really need to use those fullscreen ads that entirely block the player controls?!
And if you're going to force that garbage on us, at least moderate them. Half of them have fake Close Ad buttons that bait people into clicking something they're not interested in, and the other half aren't in English, even though the station SportsDayTALKwTheTicket is broadcasting is.
Do better. Please.
Recently I've been getting the full page ads in multiple languages and sometimes the audio will go silent then start up again like it's in fast forward. The ads don't have a close option in the top right, it's one of the boxes. I've learned this now but at first I was getting an ad in Chinese and had to close and open SportsDayTALKwTheTicket to get it off the screen. Currently on software 16.3.1.
I’m running iOS 13.x on an iPhone 11 Pro. App is okay for streaming the Ticket but isn’t polished and kinda buggy. The UI isn’t real good. An extra step or even two to start the stream. For me the play and rev/fwd buttons are shoved too far to the bottom. When you pause from outside SportsDayTALKwTheTicket and try to resume, it takes at least two attempts and even then sometimes doesn’t work. That’s been going on for multiple versions. When it does happen, I have to go into SportsDayTALKwTheTicket and about 20% of the time end up getting an error on resuming; I have to reboot SportsDayTALKwTheTicket . I would only recommend if you don’t have a 3rd party streaming app that you like.
This has started to happen lately, switch back to SportsDayTALKwTheTicket to fast forward and your hit with a full screen add, no biggie if you could exit out of it or wait for it to go away…but no the ad goes full screen with no way to get it off the screen other than restarting SportsDayTALKwTheTicket and loosing where you were at in the show. Hopefully they will address this.
Great way to listen to the little Ticket. I live in DFW and almost exclusively use SportsDayTALKwTheTicket instead of the radio dial.
Only bad thing : reading DMN articles is impossible due to small text size, at least with my old eyes.
Also needs an Apple Watch app so I can leave the phone in the house while mowing on Saturdays and still hear the latest e-break from the Teebox.
I am a long time P-1 now living in Austin. I have listened to The Ticket through SportsDayTALKwTheTicket for many years. I am also blind and a VoiceOver user on my iPhone. Thank you very much for the accessibility improvements in the latest update. Before, many of the buttons in the now-playing screen were not labeled properly and there was no way for me to close that screen except by closing and re-opening SportsDayTALKwTheTicket . I also appreciate the other improvements to the main app screen, since it takes half the number of swipes for me to navigate the Dallas Morning News sports headlines. I'm not sure how many other people with disabilities who use accessibility features contacted you, but coming from a dedicated Ticket listener, I'd like to express my appreciation for these updates. Please let me know if I can help in any way to make SportsDayTALKwTheTicket more usable by the blind. Thanks for your time.
My pig found itself smart enough to hop over the barrier from his pen to the next pen & eat all of that pigs food & then go to the next one & eat all of that pigs food & then the next one & eat all of that pigs food & make his way back in time for when it was my turn my time to feed him; he had already eaten three meals & would just be sitting there waiting for me & I would feed him & he would eat that. That’s why he gained so much weight & got sifted at the fat stock show.
Always get disconnected even with good cellular reception! I have to pause and then press play but usually get a “buffering” message. Super frustrating!
Update ! Changed review to 5 star. Received and reply from DMN and was told they found the issue and fixed it. I tried the updated app and it works great and the stream of 1310 The Ticket is flawless. Thanks for your attention and I will use it every day!
If you want an app without ads or tracking… use an FM radio. If you want to be provided a 1 hour time shift by two dying media, you’ll have to put up with it. They’re gonna track every little thing you do and serve ads as often as possible. And provide the analytics to their real customers… ad agencies. You’re a demographic and the ticket has always been upfront about that.
45 minutes of the Musers, 60 of the hardline. If your advertisers find out how much substandard content you’re selling them…. Everyone will be on a podcast. Shameful how this station treated their profit over talent.
This has been my single favorite app for years. I live in Florida and listen to The Ticket several hours a day. For the last few days I can’t listen but for a few minutes without SportsDayTALKwTheTicket crashing. My phone always has the latest updates. I’ve tried uninstalling/reinstalling SportsDayTALKwTheTicket . It’s just maddening. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
