worse than the original

iNaturalistNext feels less intuitive to use than the original app. the ui seems more cluttered. when i try and post an observation for some reason it tried posting two observations instead of one and then crashed. also i don’t like how you have to wait for one observation to upload in order to upload more observations, it just takes too much time. can someone tell me what features besides ai iNaturalistNext adds over the other one?

Still not good as the Android version

I was so excited when I saw the msg about the new version of the iNaturalist app, but got disappointed when I tested it. One of the things I miss the most once I convert to IPhone a couple of years ago, is my Android version of iNaturalist. Photographing and registering nature had become my favorite hobby because of iNaturalistNext . Apple version is awful. Not only the layout but also not being able to edit photos, etc. this current version is for sure better than the previous one, but still not good as the android version and not being able to select more than one photo at once should be fixed also. I still appreciate the platform and iNaturalistNext and hope this one will get close to the android version. ❤️

overwhelming auto-suggest

jumping in here immediately from the old inat app + web browser user to upload a picture of a bird i saw in a tree today and i'm immediately swarmed with different options for the tree's ID. I'm sure that it was plenty accurate if i was looking to ID the tree but i just wasn't! i could go back and finagle the ID but i did have to save it with a tree ID first. just a bit too much extra messing around if i wanted to upload something quickly. I do like the new UI changes otherwise though

This is my dream app

I’ve been using Seek and iNaturalist in tandem since they came out. As a wildlands manager, ethnobotanist, and backpacker I continue to try every species ID app out there and these have been far and away the best (though Cornell’s Merlin app combined with eBird is great for bird sound ID). iNaturalistNext takes it up a level by essentially combining the two. I can’t express how impressed I’ve been with the developers continue improvement over the years, really listening to the advice people offer, and I just want to express my gratitude. Thank You

Makes the best nature app out there even better!

I’ve been a dedicated iNaturalist user since 2018, and it is the one app I can’t live without. iNaturalist Next has really taken it to a whole new level! Love being able to see whether I’m getting a good read on a plant before I even take the picture. It takes a little getting used to, but overall I’m living it.

Significant improvement

As of Fall 2024, the developers are still working on iNaturalistNext , it I think this is a great improvement over the previous version.
iNaturalistNext is also a wonderful gateway to resources that help us learn about the living things around us, contribute to science, and connect to a community of people invested in spreading and sharing knowledge about biodiversity.

Awesome App!

I have used iNaturalist for the last 4 years! I have always used the original app for documenting organisms! However, iNaturalist Next is far superior! Download it today and begin enjoying documenting nature!

Be aware over time it becomes addictive! haha :)

A very helpful upgrade!

Love having iNat and Seek combined into one upgraded app. Also finally allows you to filter the map which I love :)

Incredible!

I love iNaturalistNext - it not only helps me identify species around me, but the fact that this also helps advance science, and is a nonprofit? The best!

breath of fresh air

im soo glad iNaturalistNext exists the old app was sooo bad it was nearly impossible to use and the ability to see the taxon now in iNaturalistNext is great i always used the web version instead of the old app super convenient

Awesome upgrade of iNaturalist!

It's finally a complete app with nowadays UI and usability!
