Been Looking for An App Like This!

ItemizeExpense is exactly what I need for keeping track of my expenses while traveling in multiple countries using multiple currencies. It keeps expenses separated and in different categories and totals them up for you by category. It puts everything into an awesome report too.

So many issues and very slow

ItemizeExpense is very slow and every time you attempt to upload more then one image a day it says error occurred and logs you out. Very frustrating and disappointing.

Life Saver

Itemize saves me SOOO MUCH time and hassle. ItemizeExpense has saved me from spending hours doing bank statement reconciliations. Expense reports. Tax time. Both business and personal is easy to track with TAGS. Exporting to excell with the images - automatic categorization is a life saver. I've had to contact customer service in the past for some glitches and they were responsive, timely, understanding, and stayed in constant communication with me. I was very impressed and continue to stay loyal to them because of their attention to detail and commitment to customer service. Get ItemizeExpense . You'll love it. Then, you'll buy the upgraded because it's awesome. The end.

Practical, but needs refining

I love the easy to use operating system and the fact that (when it works) it categorizes the expense, credit card used and the logo of the vendor auto populated, HOWEVER, the photo of receipt isn’t very clear. I thought perhaps it was my lack of Photograohy skills, but I read another’s review and they have confirmed the photo is in fact unclear. Also, it takes rather long for the system to “process” the information captured from receipt; certainly needs refining. I still love the concept and will continue to use ItemizeExpense as I’m a Real Estate professional so with that said keeping track of faded crinkly receipts is certainly more of a headache than using ItemizeExpense.

Itemize is excellent for recording expenses.

ItemizeExpense is easy to use and generally records all information accurately. Automatically selects pre set categories, but additional custom categories can be created. Common chain store merchants are identified and recorded. Custom merchants can be created when ItemizeExpense can’t identify the merchant. ItemizeExpense does have issues with long receipts and some information may need to be added or modified. Possibly a method to separate a long receipt into two photos might help. Individual expenses can be tagged for business purposes. Reports can be created and much of ItemizeExpense information can be reviewed through their website on a computer.

Nice design but still has bugs

They have a nice user interface and it seems pretty intuitive to me. This will be a great product but they need to eliminate some more bugs first. App crashed on my iPhone. Changing display settings doesn't work consistently. Interpreting receipts is pretty strong given the poor quality of some printed receipts. I would also like a way to split, prorate or otherwise itemize a receipt? I like ItemizeExpense but it won't be worth a subscription until some bugs are cleaned up imho.

A Definite Must for People watching their $$$$!

ItemizeExpense helps store and organize your receipts. It is intuitive about the category of the receipt as a general rule.

Will be definitely helpful in the assessment of your expenses as well as the formulation of a budget.

Just a tad annoying when it crashes as you need to sign in again or in a hard crash you have to delete and re-download ItemizeExpense . This situation happens every time there is an iOS update and it's becoming annoying already. Other apps don't have the same issues! And this is the reason I have downgraded the star rating.

Bait & Switch

I downloaded ItemizeExpense several months ago. At the time, the website said users could have free, but limited, access to ItemizeExpense which worked fine for my needs. Now today I got a notice that my "trial" ended (I had a full access trial that ended months ago) and now I can't access anything on my account without paying. Essentially it's ransomware at this point.

I tried messaging the company but no one was available and despite saying to leave a message, their website doesn't allow you to leave a message.

Even if you plan to pay (in my opinion way too much monthly!) for the membership, beware that they have lousy communications and may change the terms on you without any warning.

I bill I bill!

Finally I'm in the habit of taking good notes about expenses I have to bill for!! Itemize makes it easy- just a moment whenever I'm in line or at the end of the day and its all in there! Customer service was really good, kept my faith when I couldn't find my data - it's all there now!! Phew! Touch ID would be nice- and a slightly lower price would likely get them way more customers! (Like $2.99 (price less than a latte to sell more!)

Hi, I'm just starting learn ItemizeExpense.
People, these days, don't listen! They think they are, but their not. They can be rude, condescending and impatient, not knowing why the person on the other end of the phone, is having problem with understanding, I've been really sick. I find I have to explain my sickness and that's okay. The type of sickness I have affects, the way I decipher things.

Jason, your customer representative at itemize, has been kind enough to take the time to explain a few things. Jason's has been very patient with me. He listens and takes the time to explain back to me in great detail, exactly the questions, I just asked.

He has a gift, to simplify and was great with me.
So thanks, Jason for your help, Jason. I really think ItemizeExpense is great. I rate Jason a 10.

Great way to track my expenses

ItemizeExpense is easy, fast and accurate. It is a great way to track my expenses. Snap a picture and the copy of the receipt along with the total, tax, etc is right there in ItemizeExpense in a few seconds. I love the new Receipt Details feature. Even though it is in Beta, it is pretty good at capturing the details in most cases. I can add/change any of the details too.

ItemizeExpense stays on the main screen for me.

Doesn’t Work - Bait and Switch

I’ve deleted ItemizeExpense .

The digital receipt function does not work. These are the issues:

1. Despite connecting my email, there is no way to add past receipts. The whole reason I got ItemizeExpense was to organize the jumble of invoices and such in my inbox, but despite moving them, reforwarding them to myself, and refreshing ItemizeExpense repeatedly; they do not add to ItemizeExpense .

2. For new orders, I get a receipt for the invoice, a receipt for the shipping notification, and a receipt for the delivery confirmation. This is confusing and requires too much work on my part to identify and delete duplicates.

3. Receipt details are often missing or just plain wrong; and there’s no way to go in and manually correct them, even if I were so inclined (I’m not).

Also, you have to pay a monthly fee to do more than a few paper receipts per month. I am getting really sick of “Free” apps that aren’t free at all.

Absolutely Fantastic app

After a few weeks of trying to keep up with entering my receipts into an online spreadsheet (or even just store pictures of receipts) I started seriously looking for a simple app that would read and log the text on the receipts for me. This is that app guys. I use it constantly to log receipts and purchases. Download it and give it a try! You will be glad you did

Needs serious work

For an app that has one job, it’s not very good at it.

I get that if a photo isn’t clear or a receipt is wrinkled/faded, that an algorithm can’t make out the details.

What I don’t understand is why ItemizeExpense algorithm argues with how I label expenses. I toggle work expense, it saves as verified, but when I double-check, I have to re-toggle and redo the expense category and in some other cases, I have to redo the date and the merchant..AGAIN. ‘Which was infuriating while going through a stack (from a box of) of receipts.

I like the filters for exporting and the options for doing so (pdf, excel, + receipt photos) but the filters are useless if they don’t stick.

If I get negatively audited due to any of this, I certainly won’t be a paying customer.

Works but to expensive

I was looking for a nice way to track personal expenses without too much hassle. I keep receipts for child support purposes. Yeah, ItemizeExpense works as stated, but it costs $150/year if I want to export ANY of the data. If this company were to close or I get locked out of my account (as another review stated) I would lose all the data. If I throw out my receipts, then I have no backup.

Also, it takes a while to process the photos/receipts. I think I'm going to buy a scanner from a reputable company that will do this for me for less than half the price.

Amazing app especially during Tax Season

This is the application that I have been looking for! I cannot throw out my receipts that have been stocking up in my wallet! Slightly pricey monthly fee, don't get me wrong $4.99 is not bad but adds up, I would totally subscribe for $2.99. But if you have it, like I said ItemizeExpense is a great app. Just take a snapshot of your receipt and all your information is there

Works pretty good

ItemizeExpense works well, doesn't always recognize dates on receipts, but that might be due to the many different places that they are on the receipts. When manually changing the date it's a bit buggy and the set date may change when you leave the screen. Apart from that, upload was pretty quick 1-2 minutes and they got most of the information correct. Not bad at all.

The best of its kind

I've tried several similar apps, like Billguard, Ziploop and few others that I are not even worth mentioning. Billguard is definitely my favorite, Ziploop is pretty awesome, but ItemizeExpense is definitely my favorite. You scan the receipt, and most of the time, the merchants logo appears, you can create and add the spending categories, and select an icon to go with it. Highly recommended.

So simple

I have reviewed all new versions of ItemizeExpense since paying for the Pro service.
ItemizeExpense just keeps getting better. I love the new love chat feature and instantly get an answer from a customer support agent.
The Pro service allows me to manage all of my expenses with a simple picture of a receipt and put into my QuickBooks account.
Itemize is a no brainer!!!

No support

Developer says to email support but they ignore your support email. ItemizeExpense itself works well, but I had issues with emailing receipts. I wrote to Support three times asking for help and never received a reply. Eventually I deleted ItemizeExpense and reinstalled it and my emailed receipts were there. It would’ve been nice if Support had answered any of my three requests for help.

Update reply to developer: I replied through ItemizeExpense itself through “support chat.”

I was trying to decide between Veryfi and Itemize, but unfortunately no one ever responded to my support requests. I figured the fastest response that I would get would be the response through ItemizeExpense . I do not know what happened to my questions, but they never did get answered.

Question as to if this ap tracks & sales your personal info?

ItemizeExpense has been developed to collect data "all" your spending habits. I attempted to read privacy policy of ItemizeExpense directly from ItemizeExpense Store but upon clicking link it says page can't be found. Saying all that to say I question if ItemizeExpense collects this data and then turns around and sales it to other business for profit. It's a humongous market that most are unaware of (collect & sale personal info to marketers). Not saying this is the case but most times it is. I encourage all to investigate and get facts before or continuing use of ItemizeExpense.

Simple. Effective. Best business app I have

As a freelance consultant traveling 4 days per week for multiple clients and projects, ItemizeExpense keep my expenses organized and easily billable at the end of the month. I have tested a large number of similar tools and this one is simply the best. It has made my life easier and saves me a lot of time! I truly recommend this to anyone in a similar situation.
