It doesn’t scan or take a pic of the food
To use the Pro version, you must first create an account with this version. However, on startup it goes to “getting started” where it gets your data. Enter it all and the continue button remains greyed out, so you can’t actually get into January . I would give it a zero if I could.
I forgot my password and when I change it all I get is a message that it timed out and try again later. I wait 5 minutes and get the same message.
Already deleted. Would not allow changing birthdate from displayed today’s date. Ethnicity? Ok, but would not allow an entry or offer a drop down.
Then blacked out. Then error messages. Who’s got time to struggle with an app??
After downloading, January wouldn’t open. It was stuck loading until it timed out. I deleted January , reinstalled and it loaded. That was when my bowl of steel cut oats with blueberries was recognized as black rice pudding. When I tried to open January later, nothing but timed out errors. Very disappointing.
It seem to not be obvious on what to do with this. I’m sure it works but it’s highly confusing.
Just found this, loves how it helps me determine the carbs in food for my diabetes insulin pump data.
Now it will be behind an expensive paywall so I will have to delete.
Sad that profits are more important than providing a much needed health service. It would be 5 stars without this change.
The data provided is wrong, it doesn’t match the nutritional information on the package. I can’t change the data provided nor can I enter it manually. A spinach wrap was 200 calories and this device only gave me one option of 234 calories. Your data is no good if your source data is wrong. What is the point? If you offered correct data or the option to enter data manually then your app might just be awesome. For now, it’s useless.
Just downloaded yesterday and I know this can’t be that difficult but I try and do certain task and January just closes. Several times this has happened.

Too bad after using January for a week they started FREEMIUM . Now it’s a pay to use
This is the only app I found that scans your food and gives a rough estimate of what it is.
It’s great for knowing what impact it’s going to have on my blood sugar before eating
Difficult to follow how to log food items is there a user guide available to download load love the concept of this application
Although it misidentifies some items and the search is a bit whacky I find this tool useful. Each update shows improvement. Would like to see the font size fit the screen better. Can’t see the details often because I need to use larger text due to low vision.
Stumbled upon January and installed and used it one evening. Next day, it tell me that I have reached my max of 10 photos a day for the camera. The scanner does not appear to work.
I thought January could be used to track what you are eating, but it’s only a database. The bar scanner works well, and I like being able to compare different choices. It would be a lot more powerful if I could use it as a nutritional tracker in addition to a lookup tool
The the calendar date does not move by itself. You have to manually move it from one day to the other, even though it still adds the food for that day, but it’s confusing when you’re view what has been eaten. Also, there are no instructions on how to put in a recipe and add the nutritional data to be added to the day’s value. For instance, I make a chia and flax seed smoothie, and wanted to add it to my day’s nutritional value, but didn’t know how.
Has been part of my daily routine to track my macros.
I downloaded January thinking it was yet another food app, but to my surprise, it exceeded all my expectations. Scanning the foods works almost all the time with great information about the ingredients and how it would effect my sugar level. This is an indispensable tool if you want to eat healthier and manage your sugar intake. Highly recommend it.

I’ve tried my fair share of health apps, but the this app app stands out. It’s not every day you find something that’s both easy to navigate and genuinely useful. Taking a quick photo of my meals and getting insights into my glucose levels helps me make better choices without fuss. Plus, it’s encouraging to see my progress. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to stay on top of their health without it feeling like a chore.
January helps me learn the impact that food has on my sugar levels….which helps me make better decisions on the type of and quantity of foods I should be taking in…..

I’m pre diabetic and I can see what foods will make my blood sugar spike.
It’s so easy and I use it to scan items when I’m grocery shopping. If I’m eating out then I take a photo of my food. It shows the ingredients and all the nutrition facts. I can see if my blood sugar will spike and also other options that are healthier
I’m very excited about January. It is nice to know you can track your food.

I have been searching for an app like this that provides glucose index information instead of googling everything, this is fast an easy to use.
I love the this app App so much because it allows me to find balance in my day and eat foods that make me feel good! The technology is so impressive and January is so easy to use!
This is like a miracle to look at food and with a picture give an approximate value of the food. It’s easy to figure out a banana or a piece of chicken but combination foods like a turkey club sandwich or a piece of pizza! I love it! Then to know the glucose implications too is just icing on the cake! (So to speak! ) and then to log what you have eaten for the day is also a big plus!!!
I’m trying to be more mindful of my sugar intake and this is a simple and fast way to see the impact of foods on your blood glucose. Super helpful for maintaining weight and energy levels! Highly recommend!
I stumbled across January from an advertisement on Instagram. As one that’s pre diabetic, I thought why not check it out.
To my surprise I have scanned various foods and it’s been 98% accurate on figuring out what’s on the plate!
For a relatively new app of this type, the developers have done a phenomenal job connecting pictures of food and connecting it to a database of foods that can trigger a spike in blood sugar levels.
Every diabetic or health conscious person should be using January!
I am using this to pick foods multiple times a day. I just used it at Proper Foods and changed from curry tofu with rice and broccoli to chicken cobb salad and spared myself 200 calories at a single meal.
Excellent App & I am very difficult to please w “health” apps! Explanations are ideal and is so appealing and appreciative! I usually use 3 or more solid apps to do the same, if/when
I do!
