As much as I love my smart feeder, Birdfy leaves a lot to be desired.
- First. I feel like the fact that you cannot use the AI service on iOS should be better advertised or at least made clear somewhere. I received my first this app feeder as a gift and that was a main factor in them deciding on this one.
- the overall app layout is confusing in how you save the photos and collections and kind of a hot mess. You have to load and reload multiple pages to go back farther than 8 videos in the same day, and if you click on one and go back then than progress is lost. This could be a much cleaner video timeline/daily thumbnails setup.
- it is generally very slow to load live and my camera is set up very close to the wifi.
- I’d love to be able to save a still from the videos to the photo collection. You get a video and photo of each bird but the photo is usually them in motion, head down, etc. The videos have some good moments that should be able to be saved instead of a blurry photo of just their tail feather.
We have two Netvue, birdfeeders, and use Birdfy to manage both as well as view the captured videos and images. Birdfy is an improvement over the original Netvue app with more features related to the birdfeeders. It is easy to use and the ability to share access to the feeder viewing is great. Depending on the services of your feeder, you can filter the alerts and the captured moments.
One feature I would like to see added, is the ability to filter more granularly. It would be good if we could filter out previously identified species or be able to deselect collections from the alert process. This could reduce the number of alerts for heavy traffic areas without requiring turning them off. We often get alerted from the same birds, visiting over and over. If it only alerted on new ones or we could remove the regulars, the experience would be improved.
We have had a this app feeder for about 18 months using the Netvue app.
We just added the this app Bamboo and had to switch to Birdfy. So far, so good.
One of the cool features is sharing access. My wife has the primary account for the feeders, but shared access with me so I can see the bird feeding feed whenever I want.
Birdfy includes bird identity as well which is a nice feature.
You can share videos with the this app community through Birdfy . I am not likely to use this feature but it is there.
NETVUE has made a tremendous improvement to view, download, save, and share photos and videos from your this app Birdfeeder. The old app was designed for home security cameras but this new app is designed with bird lovers in mind. Birdfy displays the motion activated recording. You can download videos and pictures to your smartphone or label and save them in Birdfy for easy viewing. The recordings can be organized by breeds and dates. You can also easily share them with others on Birdfy . It’s great to see what other people around the country and the world are seeing. I have given this 4 stars because it sometimes crashes, but hopefully this will be fixed in future updates.
Birdfy has come a long way! It’s gotten much more stable and the interface is getting better with each release. Even without the AI subscription, users can tag photos with bird types, and tagged content is saved indefinitely, offering a nice way to organize and revisit sightings. The only limitation I found is in correcting mistakes; once a bird is mistakenly tagged, there's no apparent way to change it at this time. You can add your friend's feeders/nests and you can share yours as well!
A suggestion would be if we could search for a specific bird and see results even if we don’t have that bird tagged yet. Would be cool to see real examples of birds we haven’t gotten at the feeder yet.
We’ve had our feeder up for about two weeks. So far, it’s been great. We LOVE the fact Netvue’s new feeder is environmentally conscious and Earth friendly. It’s made of natural bamboo and is an excellent addition to the line of bird feeders they offer. You get the same features such as the live- streaming and a SD slot to give you more memory capability but you also get two very LARGE bird seed reservoirs and a complimentary artificial intelligence (AI) subscription which my Hummer feeder unfortunately did not come with. The bamboo feeder itself is heavy, so be aware. It’s heftier than the plastic Hummer or any of the other plastic feeders out there. Make sure you secure it well! Installation was fine as the directions are clear and self-explanatory. You have to attach the perch extension but that just gives your birds more room. It even came with the small screw driver, for convenience. The Bamboo feeder came well packaged so no damage during shipment and it arrived fairly quickly.
We use our feeders as added protection to our backyard for unwanted (human) intruders but seeing the animals come in at night is extremely cool! We would definitely recommend Netvue’s new Bamboo feeder to any avid birdwatcher or someone who loves nature in general. It is solidly built and very user friendly.
This bird feeder camera setup is great. Captures all the moments. Birdfy works very well. Have only lost wifi signal once and most probably it is my wifi not Birdfy . When you click on live shots it is instant. Birdfy provides instant notifications. Can sit out there and watch a bird land and get a notice on app at the same moment. App works well as a security camera also. App allows you to easily download videos and take screen shots. No complaints from me at all. My only wish is that it would become linked to Alexa so when I’m at the window and can see pesky starling land on the feeder I could ask Alexa to sound the alarm to scare them off.
Birdfy is a great companion to the this app feeders. I have 2 feeders and Birdfy keeps everything and all my pictures / videos in one place. Every once in a while the AI gets a bird wrong, but it’s easy to see why, as they are usually really close. The only thing that may help there would be to take geography into account. I had the AI identify a bird that only lives in Australia, and I’m in the Southern US. They looked close in appearance, but a quick territory check would have ruled out the one. Birdfy is great for customizing your alerts, and controlling the feeders directly. There is something very therapeutic about getting an alert and a picture of a new bird randomly in the middle of the day. As a side note, they also make great security cameras.
This is just what I wanted. I always loved birding with my dad as a kid but life is busy and there isn't much time for things like birding. Birdfy (and camera) allows me to revisit the nostalgia of birding. The wifi part of it was a bit finicky to begin but after I got it ironed out it works great! I can add all the new birds to my collection and see all my old videos and pictures of birds. The only thing I wish it would do is tall you when a new species shows up. I get well over 100 visits a day and need to scroll though them to find new birds. Otherwise it has been great!
The updated app is a big improvement. Two iterations ago I found it to be confusing and difficult to navigate. The last update cleaned up a lot of this, and with the current version, Netvue has made it even more intuitive.
The AI feature has been great, and we love seeing the variety of birds that now visit our house.
I like I can have multiple feeders set up on the same app. This version of Birdfy allows me to easily find info from either feeder, as well as adjust alerts for each feeder invidually. I also like that I can adjust the alerts to only get alerts from birds, so I won't get notified every time my dog runs in the background!
Minor comment - I wish I could zoom in on the static images before I download them to my phone...Would be great to be able to do that right in Birdfy to save a bit of time.
I periodically look at the community collections and am always inspired by what others see, but I haven't spent too much time there.
Our this app feeder is awesome and our family couldn’t be more happy! So much that we purchased a second one with the humming bird feeder. We are all anxiously awaiting our little hummers to return this Spring. Birdfy has taken bird watching to a new level. For example, during dinner we put the phone out on the table for the family to enjoy the sights and sounds of our feathery friends. We never know who we will see or hear. I also frequently use Birdfy on my desk at work. It brings a little peace to the office environment. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed with this purchase!
Over the years I have researched multiple ways to have wildlife cameras in our backyard. I settled on Netvue and haven’t regretted it. We have been using our main feeder for almost a year and have had no issues. I do recommend adding the monthly plan for bird identification. I love being able to see what species are hitting our feeders, when, and being able to save pictures and videos to our collections.
We have recently gotten the hummingbird feeder, and it’s finally warm enough that we will be putting it in the yard this week. I’m so excited to get it up and running.
The only request I have to make things better is being able to share a link for live online viewing as well. I love having videos showing in a sidebar while I’m streaming on Twitch, and it would make things easier.
We plan to add another Netvue camera to our collection to film some of the ground wildlife as well. Obviously we recommend the company, products & app.
I have owned the Netvue regular bird feeder with camera for 2.5 years and I can’t say enough good things about it. The AI bird recognition has made significant improvements. When I learned that Netvue this app now had a hummingbird feeder, I knew I had to own one. I had a little trouble getting the camera set up at first. Their in-app Live Chat feature was tremendously helpful and got me up in running immediately. I am all set up now and I am already getting picture notifications. I love these products. It comes apart easily to clean and comes with extra parts. If you are a bird enthusiast, don’t hesitate, just buy these awesome feeders.
Birdfy and can come with a ton of features! It includes live cam, alerts, lab features, AI detection and more. The detection is incredible, but if you want to see more, you can view community posted videos of other birds detected in area and all over. You have a bunch of cam features, like live view, playback, option for SD card, night vision, siren, and more, making this not just a fun cam and app but actually rival some of my security cams/apps too. The cam boots up quickly in Birdfy and I’m able to see clips of past activity and access live view in seconds. I assumed this would be a fun hobby but I’ve learned to really enjoy visiting Birdfy multiple times a day. Great experience!
Our kids gave us a Netvue feeder last Christmas and we have greatly enjoyed watching all kinds of birds, and even hummingbirds this summer! But this new this app Bamboo is now our favorite. Its design and bamboo construction fits so much more discreetly and naturally on our wooded homesite than the original plastic feeder. It also will hold much more so less work keeping the feeder full. It also offers more protection to wires and the antenna which squirrels love to play with! Cleaning should also be a breeze with this new model. We have placed it outside a window where our cat can enjoy it as well, while we humans review the videos of our daily ( and sometimes nightly) visitors!
When we purchased our this app Feeder back in July, Birdfy wasn't available. So, we have been using the Netvue app to check on our feathered friends. It's been underwhelming, to say the least. The Netvue app isn't difficult to navigate, but it's not for birding. The this app app is clean, gives us timely notification of critters on our Feeder and I like that it shows you the last five clips from your feeder when you open Birdfy , rather than the Netvue app, where you have to click on the "notifications" option from the feed view. And my wife and I love that we can easily see what other "Community" members have posted for everyone to see. The addition of labels on the tabs at the bottom of the screen and withing the Live view are also a great addition as well as the "Screenshot" and "Record" options. Birdfy is really a step up from the Netvue app. Don't get me wrong, the Netvue app isn't all bad, I just think that this version of an app is more suited for birding. We're looking forward to putting our Hummee on in the Spring and really seeing what great videos we get and share with everyone.
I have been using the this app app that connects to my Netvue Hummingbird Feeder , and I must say, it has truly enhanced my birdwatching experience! Birdfy allows me to easily view live feeds of the birds/hummingbirds in my garden from anywhere. I love how I can capture photos and videos directly from Birdfy , making it easy to share these magical moments with friends and family. The notifications feature alerts me whenever there is activity at the feeder, ensuring that I never miss a chance to see these beautiful birds up close. Overall, Birdfy has brought a new level of excitement and convenience to my birdwatching hobby, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to elevate their backyard birdwatching experience!
So many options with Birdfy! It’s not just for viewing your own photos and videos, though that part is great. But now you can make “collections” for each kind of bird you see at your feeder(s) and even choose to share them with the this app community if you want to! Checking out other users posts in Birdfy is a great way to get tips and tricks for attracting more kinds of birds, which I love.
The additional feature of a compilation video created automatically for my this app Nest is so exciting and I can’t wait to see how that works after I get my first residents!
this app has GREAT customer service also. If you haven’t joined the Facebook groups, you definitely should! They’re monitored and this app pros are available to help with suggestions and support.
Birdfy made it very easy to connect the this app hummingbird feeder to my WiFi. I was able to use the support questions/answers in order to reboot the device because I initially could not power the unit on. All is working great now. Use of Birdfy is free, but I did purchase the basic AI subscription in order to filter unnecessary movement. So far, we’re having a very windy day and the unit is not filtering unwanted movement, but I’m hopeful that feature of Birdfy will pan out. All of your events are visible and you can download them if you want to save it offline. The only downfall is that you cannot manage any subscriptions, is you elected to have some, from the IOS version, but the company is aware of that. So far, I’m very pleased with the ease of use of Birdfy and the feeder.
I just received the this app Camera Lite and it is currently set up to capture hummingbirds on my hummingbird feeder. The camera was very easy to set up and install. The user manuals are easy to understand and so is the technical side to the camera. The camera will talk to you and I was very impressed when it asked me to format the SD card. The camera also has a siren/alarm feature (which is loud), night vision, sleep mode and a light. Everything is operated using this this app app.
I do not need the bird recognition feature as we only have the Ruby Throat hummers here or that’s because that’s all I’ve seen in my state. May add later, we’ll see.
I like the this app lite because I can move it around my yard and put it almost anywhere, as long as my wifi reaches. The camera comes with everything you need to install on a post or wooden post. Solar panel has been great! I charged camera up inside with the usb cord provided and the solar panel keeps it charged up.
This this app app is really easy to use and navigate. I can even format the SD card on app!
I see that Netvue also makes other this app camera products and I can’t wait to add the different bird feeders or the nesting box to my backyard.
I think every bird nerd needs a this app camera of some sort because birds just make me smile!
We have had the earlier model feeder with camera for several months and have been very pleased with it. We have that one mounted on a pole some distance from the house, with a solar panel for charging. WiFi connectivity is always solid and we are entertained by the pictures of the many bird visitors and the software identification. The new bamboo version we recently purchased as an additional unit. But, it is so nice looking, we put it closer to the house so we can see the feeder from the back windows also. The bamboo version is larger and holds more feed so it needs filling less often also. Birdfy integrates the alerts and video feeds from both feeder cameras in one place. I installed both feeders using my iPhone and account, then was able to share it to my wife so she also gets the alerts, pictures and videos on her iPhone as well.
I first bought this for my home to share birding with my grandkids. They were so excited to see the different kinds of birds that were right in our garden. The bird ID feature of Birdfy helped the kids learn that there were different names for birds based on their appearances.
I recently bought another camera for our community garden. Although there is a slot for an SD card, we were fortunate enough to be able to access wifi from a member who lives nearby. I am looking forward to discovering what birds we have in our woodlands section of our garden. At some point, we are hoping to post not only pictures on our community website, but also a live link.
This company also has cameras with night vision. I bought one for my raccoon and possum feeder. I can now share the comic nighttime interactions with my grandkids with a morning "from Florida" video.
I’m on my 2nd this app product. I’ve had the blue top feeder with solar panel for over a year, and just purchased the camera with solar panel to focus on my birdbath. Overall, I’m pleased with their products and customer support has been responsive. The close up shots of birds being, well…, birds is so entertaining. I often will have it playing on my phone while I’m doing computer work. I have noticed a difference in distance focus between my two products, could be due to improved optics on my newer camera. But as I said before, the close ups are fantastic! Thanks, this app, for great products! Look forward to trying the birdhouse next!!
