Great idea initially, but…

2024-03-14

As one of the original “Spouters” who signed on when Spoutible first took flight, I originally thought Spoutible was a refreshing change from the bots and and negativity on Twitter/X. But the more the site grows, the clearer it becomes it is not much different than any other social media site.

The site feigns inclusivity at its core… but after spending 9 months there, I can assure you it is no different than other sites in that regard. The site is basically a Twitter/X inverse reality; where Twitter caters to the right, this app caters to the left... and is no more tolerant of opposing views than the site they patterned themselves after.

It also lacks “star power” - there is very little big-name social celebrity presence, which also limits the experience somewhat.

As a “first wave” Spouter, I tried… I really did. But after 9 months, I finally got sick of having to defend my views and my Christianity (they’re not big on religion either), so I hung up my surfboard and hopped off their “wave”.

If you are a hard-left political junkie that hates religion, you may find this site palatable. Unless this is you however, I would not recommend.
Sorry, Christopher Bouzy - you had a great idea. Unfortunately, you can’t control human nature. But thanks for trying.

Good concept, ruined by a lack of moderation

2024-09-07

I was really rooting for this app when I first signed up, tired of the endless political trolling, racism, misogyny, etc. at Twitter. Over time, however, this app has become stale without any kind of algorithm or any informative larger accounts to liven things up. They seem to do a good job of keeping the bots away, which is nice, but without a basic effort at moderation the site is devolving into groups that attack one another and bring the entire experience back to (just like Twitter) largely blocking accounts just to keep your feed from being a bunch of spats, raging, and bickering. Some accounts appear to have been given carte blanche to harass others without any sort of accountability, which is suspicious given the site’s supposed credo of being a safe space. It became tiresome to observe, and if you’re not into observing the most base, middle school behavior of adults on social media, I’d skip this one. this app is an interesting and noble concept, but human behavior and lack of coherent moderation keep it from achieving its stated goal. Last comment, Spoutible is a mirror of the browser version, so if you’re looking for a true app experience you won’t find it.

Dystopian nightmare

2024-08-31

I was so excited for a new kind of social media where you could express yourself freely and not live in fear of harassment and hate. Sadly, this app ain’t it. I used the website and then app for over a year and saw the true nature of the CEO. He micromanages every issue on the site and attacks users for any criticism or even for just questioning him, putting them on blast to his tens of thousands of followers. I have seen him hold pods, like Twitter spaces, just to badmouth and lie about users. He suspends or bans users for unknown reasons, never telling them or anyone what their infraction was. He is obsessed with the royal family so hope that is your jam. Also, he uses Twitter more than his own website so that tells you something. this app is good for some lols at its CEO, but not for free speech.

Absolute Betrayal

2024-06-27

Look, I tried to give this app a chance, I was even trying to promote it on other sites like Bluesky. However, apparently, me comparing this app to Bluesky & pointing out the sites shortcomings not only gets you dogpiled, you also get permanently suspended for cross platform harassment, which wasn’t at all what I was doing! Look, a bunch of features compared to other Twitter clones don’t mean anything when the community has a clique mindset that can’t take criticism well, making the site no different than Truth Social. I kinda wish the site has an appeal system. I also wish they can tell the difference between actual trolls and folks who genuinely want the site to succeed and are putting in constructive feedback. Folks there cannot distinguish the 2. No offense, but I had high hopes for the site & those hopes are just, gone!

A long way to go

2024-05-05

It’s a start, and the idea for the platform is positive. Twitter IS toxic, but its also got much more usefulness at the moment. The atmosphere at this app is definitely more relaxed, at least in the circles I’ve travelled, but there is a definite lean to the platform. I’m ok with all that, seeing where things go as a viable alternative to Twitter. I even donated towards the platform.

From a UI standpoint, Spoutible is very subpar. Things work, and it’s far snappier than the early days of this app. But, it’s clearly not an app built specifically for iOS users. Some basic UI consistency with iOS is missing, making it not natural to use for iPhone people. Beyond that, some of the other UI choices seem really strange. Tapping on a profile thumbnail of someone who liked your post takes you to the post instead of their profile, where you have to click on their thumbnail again, to open a list of people who interacted with your post, so you can click their profile avatar AGAIN to open their profile, for example. There is no swipe functionality and buttons are on the opposite sides of the screen from where iOS usually puts them.

Some basic bugs continue to persist since the release of Spoutible . Notifications are broken. There is always one notification shown on Spoutible thumbnail icon, whether there are 0 notifications, or 100. The iPad app won’t even load a splash screen.

TLDR: there is a lot of promise, but it’s got a LONG way to go.

Constructive feedback and happy as he!! W this app

2024-05-04

I couldn’t be happier with the civil and inclusive social environment at this app- have tried all the twotter alts and this is it for me. App and platform Still a little glitchy. My notification signal is not working in Spoutible and it’s hard to load photos sometimes. Wish I could see more of a comment thread without clicking f constantly. Can’t wait until it’s just as easy to spout articles from media sources- I’m sure we will see a whale on these sites soon. All of this is OK- may this app remain billionaire and big corporate free !!!

Spoutible Rocks. Period.

2024-04-21

The most important thing to note here: Spoutible was created by and is run by Christopher Bouzy-the same developer of Bot Sentinel! Therefore, I personally feel a lot safer here than in MuskMelon’s world where the owner is actually doing the same thing as the millions of bots dwelling throughout his platform-spewing nonsense and hatred. Then there’s Zuck’s data-mining and privacy hacking enterprise ’Threads’… both, now feeling threatened as their users are leaving in droves since Mr. Bouzy released his iOS version of Spoutible !

Now, they’re sending their minions here to attempt to destroy Mr. Bouzy’s platform by writing garbage reviews about this app. Hilarious really, given that it’s loaded with features such as:

-The ability to edit your post up to 15 minutes after publishing! Something MuskMelon charges 8 bucks a month for!

-A bot sentinel rating on each profile, which is indicative of the user’s behavior and reputation based on factual data that accumulates based upon their interactions with other users and post content.

-The ability to remove replies to one’s post should it be posted with nefarious intent/purpose. Screw the trolls and bots, right?

Trolling, harassment, spam, and hatefulness are not tolerated. Period.

This, and more, make the overall experience at this app an enjoyable and peaceful one, especially in contrast to the other options available.

Give it a shot! What do you have to lose? Even better, to gain?

Social media done right

2024-05-26

I have been on this app since day one using the web app. It is a wonderful community with straightforward rules and guardrails to contain 99.9 percent of unsavory users.
That said the web app is great even on mobile devices but it doesn’t feel as present and immediate like mobile apps. And now it is here and it doesn’t disappoint.
Spoutible itself is slippery fast and responsive. Organized like the web app but feels very much like a mobile app with all the bells and whistles we expect from a mobile app.
If you need a different social media experience on a state of the art mobile platform, this is an app that deserves a test drive.

Wonderful

2024-08-07

I’ve been here since the browser, the transition from that to Spoutible was flawless.
Bouzy and team have been on top of the important glitches and bugs since the apps release.
The atmosphere is great compared to others considering it’s only 7 months old. Bouzy spouts any new info himself, like the release of the apps or what bugs they’re working on and progress of features.
I spend more time exploring on Spoutible then I did the browser but if Spoutible is down for maintenance I just pop back to the browser.

Spoutible is off to a great start

2024-10-06

Spoutible works great, if a bit slowly at times. I’m still learning how everything works, but the community is supportive and helpful. It’s great to feel safe following just about everyone, without fear they’ll turn out to be a racist/misogynist troll, as even if they are, I’m confident they will be swiftly dealt with, unlike elsewhere. There’s a lot of excitement about the iOS app that just launched. It’s so new it’s hard to find on Spoutible Store, hopefully that will improve as more of us write reviews. The four stars are to acknowledge that there will be improvements to come, even in a very good app.

Guilt

2024-03-31

I’ve been there since last April, and have enjoyed the kinder gentler interaction. However, recently they have started putting in ads. There’s nothing wrong with that because there’s certainly isn’t as many as X.
But there are several people on there that try to make you feel guilty if you’re not giving a lot of money to the site.
Because I’m on a fixed income, I give what I can, but I don’t like the pressure of certain individuals who think they are better than everyone because they were there since the beginning.

Fairly stable

2024-09-07

Pull down to update seems to do nothing. Accounts that have been suspended for terms violations still show up in the followers list. Those accounts should DISAPPEAR. ETA Would like option to choose which browser opens external links. Muted and blocked accounts should not display anywhere to the users who have muted or blocked. The "firehose" of new posts (enjoy access to this) in the "compass" section of Spoutible is buggy; I often become trapped if I click on a post there and it opens a thread. The back arrow does not go all the way back to the real time list and then have to go back to the main menu and start over.

ETA: Would love it if Spoutible worked like nearly every other for iOS and allowed gestures like pinch to zoom. It is incredibly frustrating that Spoutible still functions like a web page.

It’s really good

2024-09-07

The inly reason I didn’t give it a full five stars is because there are a few changes I’d like to see…
As for Spoutible itself, it’s pretty nice. I’ve been using the web browser since February, and Spoutible is seamless, and in some ways better. It’s shiny and new!
Also, this app was JUST started. For a social network less than a year old, it is nothing short of amazing.
If you are looking for a new home after the Bird all (soon to be X, I hear), or are just looking for a less toxic space, this is for you.

Fun and Easy to Use

2024-03-14

I’m having a great time using Spoutible . It’s very intuitive. The atmosphere is welcoming. The only stress I’ve had is deciding which photo of 2 photos to use for daily photo themes. And folks encouraged me to use both. So I did. 😄. If you like music #SpoutingClassics is great. Last week there was a collaborative music thread that was fantastic. I bookmarked it so I could easily find and continue to listen to the songs (and I have).
Finally I appreciate the privacy policy. Private info isn’t being sold or shared.

Hands down my favorite platform

2024-04-14

For as young as this social media platform is, this app has done an amazing job of making users feel safe from abuse and harassment, while creating a more positive space where people can have a respectful dialogue on current issues and events.
The platform is also implementing features at a record pace, including auto-threading, selective news by user preference, cross-platform posting, gifs, video, and much more (see website for more information).
I’ve been using this app since it first launched and it is my favorite platform. Congrats to Christopher Bouzy and his team. I’m excited to see how this develops in coming years.

Great new social media app

2024-04-14

I’ve been using the web based this app site from its launch. So I was really pleased when the iOS app was finally available as it meant it was much easier for me to access it in app form then the web.

this app took all the best parts of what Twitter had to offer and made a more inclusive platform, that doesn’t tolerate hate of any kind. It’s easy to navigate, links work exceptionally well and it’s easy to share media. All of the toxicity that had become commonplace on social media is gone. What is left is healthy and varied discourse with people who are not coming to social media to troll, argue in bad faith or spam.

What I loved was the fact that as users we were asked our input right from the start. We were allowed to vote on what we wanted to see, and how we wanted Spoutible to be. Even choosing the name and appearance.

It’s a welcome relief and a solid place to share viewpoints and connect with others in an easy to use format with great features. Excited to see how much further Spoutible can go.

Fantastic, only one complaint

2024-03-31

I absolutely love this app. It is a wonderful, diverse community of civil humans having fun and real conversations. Notebly it lacks the trolls and hate of most other platforms. People have heated debates, but it is not a free-for-all dumpster fire like some other social apps. And there are currently no ads and absolutely zero porn! The performance is great. The UI is superb. Bugs are fixed quickly considering the small team of devs doing the work. Spoutible is exceptional in most ways with new or improved features rolling out regularly.

My ONLY complaint is the font size. It is much too small for older users and probably some younger ones with vision impairments. There is currently no way to increase the font size. This absolutely needs to be fixed soon.

That's it. Enjoy the community and civil discourse.

The app is excellent the owner less so

2024-04-14

I was a usable of the this app app since before it was an app, when it was just a website. I enjoyed going on daily and interacting. The features were excellent and continually improving. However I use the past tense because even though I had been a member for more than a year with a solid A rating I am no longer able to access the platform. I have discovered that I was suspended with no notification or notice or anything because I made the unforgivable mistake of responding to a spout by the owner regarding the media publishing fake or doctored pictures about Kate Middleton. My response was not profane or offensive, here is what I posted approximately- “I’m sorry, I’m out. She is a woman fighting cancer. She is a woman with young children fighting cancer. Let it sink in” - that’s it. He deleted my response, suspended my account and kicked me off a platform on which I had been a member in good standing for over a year. So there you go

An evolution in social media companies.

2024-03-14

Worth the wait. Functionality is familiar. Ease of use & transition to regular use is welcome. Spoutible defines a certain “Social Media 2.0.” The communities are welcoming, kind, intelligent and universally supportive. The grassroots buildout of the platform and App promises to improve weekly both in functioning as well as having a hands-on and responsive developer / owner to queries and issues. Backend management’s response to suspect and ill-willed users has been refreshingly swift and effective. This singular fact is most welcome since this app’s initial launch.

Spoutible

2024-03-31

i have been on this app since day 2 in february using the website.. yesterday i got Spoutible .. this app’s appearance (clean and attractive using ocean colors) and location of features (very easy to understand and learn) are the same on website and app, making transitions seamless .. the only thing i noticed that’s different is the website allows me to zoom in, which i use often, and app does not allow me to zoom in .. i create followers lists and need to copy handles onto the lists .. i zoom in to copy handles on the website and cannot zoom in to copy handles on Spoutible .. i am hoping this will be adjusted but in the meantime i will jump from website to app seamlessly as needed .. thank you for all the work CBouzy and developers team have done to make this app a reality and a platform to truly love.

Safe, Sane, Elegant, and Feature-Rich

2024-04-14

This is such a refreshing, aesthetically appealing social media start-up -- NOT CREATED BY A BILLIONAIRE, but by a guy who knows what he's doing when it comes to social media. Bouzy and his team solicited input from a large community in making policy and design decisions, and the current iteration is nothing short of spectacular when you compare it to everything else out there. The only thing it's lacking is instant scale, but hopefully now that all the apps are up and running, it'll only be a matter of time before "content creators" find out what they're missing and come on over to the light. I love the commitment to safety and anti-bullying and targeted harassment. The threads are super elegant, and ❗️you can even do collaborative threads! EDITS -- you can edit your posts AND your replies. What?!? Honestly, none of the other social media apps offer the features that this app does. You can't miss with this one. We just have to get the news outlets and volume creators to join up! Spread the word!

Safe and sane

2024-04-14

Spoutible has surpassed all my expectations. The platform is a safe place for all people. Trolls and jerks are promptly dismissed. The con is are friendly and the folks there really do engage. On top of all this, there are plenty of bells and whistles, with more on the way. For example, your messages are automatically numbered when you thread a string of spouts (messages). You can explore different profiles without an algorithm dictating your experience. None of your data is sold. This is user-supported, so new features are requested and vetted by us as users. I can see what is trending and check out the buzz, send direct messages, and invite others to comment on a thread jointly (as in an event or conference setting). This is such a breath of fresh air.

Superb in usage and lack of hate and fake

2024-03-14

When I first heard of this app I did believe in the idea of a social network to be rid of hate and fake news, but I thought it would be daunting to keep the promise.

To the joy of many people the promise has been kept and you do find different opinions, but not with hatred and not from people who benefit from attacks on others based on it or on fake news.

I had already stopped using Facebook and use Twitter for the occasional update from businesses. For all else this app is the one I go to since start.

A sane place for discussion, humor, debate & community

2024-03-31

UPDATE: one year in, and still satisfied, impressed even.// There’s no algorithm pushing anything at you, so your choices in who to follow, engage with, mute or block will create your experience, along with how you relate to people (in that i influences how they’ll respond). This means, you’ll want to start out on the “explore” section, where you can just see random “spouts” (posts) go by, look up accts, search by interests/topic and more. It’s entertaining but it’s a way of building out — the breadth of your experience will come from finding and following. This site is developing at a faster rate than Twitter did, and with far better safeguards against the skeeze now left on the bird. It’s growing and a worthier successor.

Great app and a fantastic community!

2024-03-31

I’ve been on this app since late February. I’ve not been on a similar social media app, so it was all new to me. The community is fantastic, people are friendly, fun, and supportive of each other. I appreciate this app is so active in keeping it a safe place. We get updates from the CEO himself about any issues, and he often asks for user feedback.

I downloaded the iOS app immediately on my iPhone and iPad. All the features are the same or better than the website. There are a ton of features, including alt text on photos. If there is any issue, it’s already been identified by the time I’m logging in for the day, and I know about it. My favorite thing is Spoutible is the full screen on the iPad, this is where I Spout from most. Download Spoutible and take the dive into this app! 🐳

100% Recommend

2024-03-14

I was totally addicted to the bird site, so when I hit my breaking point with the firehose of vitriol and disinformation it devolved to under the muskrat, I was looking for something that would be familiar but the exact opposite in terms of emotional upset. this app’s founder promised a troll-free experience and, for me, the platform delivers. Since joining, I’ve only used the block button once. Literally once. (For an unsolicited DM, something that happened almost daily on the bird).

So, no running battles over the outrage of the day, no hate speech, no constant policing of whether the offenders are humans or bots, no massive anxiety around follower counts and hashtags. In fact, when I visit this app, it’s something SM almost never is—relaxing. People share music and photos, create silly sharing games and themes. I hang out for a while and when I leave I feel … peaceful.

So, no trolls and this app actually has more features than X or any of the knockoffs? I don’t actually know what people are waiting for. Jump in. The water’s fine!

Sick of X, Y and T? Get Spoutible!

2024-04-14

I quit Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest because it all became one big life sucking blur. I've been on Twitter forever and really didn't do much on there. I was on there once in a blue moon and saw this app along with a couple of other options (an extinct elephant being one) since uncle Elmo bought the bird. Out of all of them, I have found Spoutible to be better than Twitter and all the other options. Now that they have the iOS app, I can't play with it enough! In fact I have to be careful and tie myself or else I will burn up a whole day. it's functions very well, very smooth and is visually appealing. No loose threads to pull here guys, No need to wait for the bird to take on one of Elmo's kid's names, No Tubes advertisements to drive you nuts, No wooly mammoths to try to sort out - just a cute little blue whale to entertain you and an app that works like a charm.

a social media with some dignity

2026-01-10

Spoutible is clear, intuitive, well-configured, and reliable. A pleasure to use.

The social media space is unlike many previous and current alternatives in that it prioritizes respectful interaction. That’s a powerful setting condition — many people who had become discouraged, harmed, or uninterested in other social media dynamics have felt encouraged to get engaged on this app. As the crowd there swells, there’s an increasing buzz of interesting, smart, funny people offering all kinds of content.

Long time Twitter user but it became too much of a cesspool. Tried most of the other Twitter replacements and have found them awkward to use or too complex or not in control of disinformation or porn . this app is a great site that has good control and quickly gets rid of trolls , disinformation and porn ( if I wanted to see people have sex I’d use a mirror. Just not my thing) and CBousey responds rapidly to site issues and constantly improves the site. It gets better daily. Highly recommend this app.

Spoutible is awesome!

2026-03-15

I pre-registered in December and joined in February via the web. It’s always been easy to navigate, but Spoutible has made it faster and more enjoyable which I didn’t think was possible. The community is large and varied enough to suit all tastes and interests. My obsession is nature and that subject is well-represented, but so are my other interests of politics and human rights. Our members are great…smart, funny, kind, serious, thoughtful, strong, and helpful. If you’re looking for the gamut of good this app is the place to be.

*chef's kiss*

2026-04-13

I've been enjoying this app mightily over Safari for 3 months, while both the community and the functioning have gotten better and better. Last night I put this shiny new this app app on my iphone 13 pro (running iOS 16.5.1), and it has been 100% smooth sailing. Even better than on the browser. I am so glad this app has come along. It provides everything I liked about that other short-form social media app, and none of the things that I wished would go away.

Amazing Social Media Experience

2026-06-28

I’ve been on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, & Tumblr. this app is truly the first Social Media App where I feel safe and listened to. I’ve been logged in since the website launch in February, & yet to have a bad experience. If there are issues, the team takes care of them within Days, and/or gives updates of where they are in the process of fixing them. And they actually listen to input from the users.

I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it!

2026-05-28

I think this may be the first time I have anticipated and waited for an app EVER. This is the iOS version of Spoutible that I moved over to escape the toxic and ad-riddled “bird app”. Once NY Times games comes over I won’t have to access that other app. Come on NY Times!!!

Not only do you have better and more meaningful engagements with others on this app, you also have increased protections from targeted harassment which is SO NEEDED.

Thank you for this!!! I’m off to spout … 🥰

Best place since Twitter was hijacked by sociopath billionaire

2026-11-03

this app is run by the developer of Bot Sentinel, Christopher Bouzy, someone who cares deeply about creating a safe user experience and minimizing outright lies and misinformation on social media. Great engagement and a nice place to find your new people. Brilliant features and they keep coming. I wish all my Twitter people were there with me, because I’d probably still see their posts and hat are being throttled out of my feed over on the dead bird app. this app is a gift.
