I was happy paying for the this app subscription when it started, but then one problem after another arose. They got an astounding number of subscribers but were clearly confused about their business model. They kept changing from this app to a useless transformation called Limitless, which removed all the useful features. Now, there is a promised hardware called Pendant for which you have to pay in advance to queue up, only to find that the costs have doubled because they imposed additional charges that were not indicated in advance. It's a completely nontransparent team that has lost its goals and is now solely focused on milking people through costly subscriptions rather than delivering a good product. This is a typical example of "too fast, too soon" and greed taking over their vision
Fails to record the activity about 60% of the time. Very high failure rate for an app that has gotten so much media attention.
Before buying their pendant I wanted to check their app, but it is completely useless. Anytime I try to record anything, it crashes instantly.
No matter what I do, Rewind crashes shortly after opening it. It seems to be capturing data but something in Rewind is breaking.
When it was working, the only command that did anything was summarize. It was great getting daily summaries of screenshots and web sites.
But it can’t really do anything else. Every prompt other than summarize returns:
I'm sorry, but there was an error when trying to interpret your question. Please rephrase your question, and try again.
Now it suddenly stopped being useful at all. Search doesn’t work and the only prompt that worked, summarize, now returns:
It can’t parse a time frame, claims there is nothing in a time frame or it can’t connect.
The other problem is that when it was working, it doesn’t keep a chat history like chatGPT. So you would go back to Rewind and you answer would be gone. You have to copy it immediately and paste it into another app. And that only works about 50% of the time. So you end up giving the same prompt over and over.
Pretty useless. Holding out hope that it gets fixed.
I’ve been using Rewind since the day it was released to the public. It has promise, but it’s really lacking at the moment.
1. There is no way to prune or delete any recording history. After just two months (plus a few days), it’s using 20 GB of storage space, and the only way I can find to clear that space is to delete Rewind entirely!
2. It often doesn’t record. I haven’t been able to figure out a pattern to this.
3. The “search” and “Ask this app” functions seem only to operate on screenshots, and not any of the 20 GB of recorded video from my browser, which kind of defeats the purpose. I’ve tried searching body text, website names, asking what I did today/this week, and nothing’s coming up at all.
So for now, I’ll be deleting Rewind , I suppose… hopefully it will improve soon, and then I’ll give it another shot.
I would love for this to work. However only a small portion of websites I visit in Safari or screenshots I take seem to get imported into Rewind . And there’s no way to manually import anything. It just decides not to work sometimes and doesn’t give you any feedback as to what’s going on under the hood. I even tried to manually activate the extension in safari but that doesn’t seem to do anything.
It also does not expose any extensions to iOS. Seems like it would be fairly obvious that after parsing the screenshots it would expose that to the iOS system search functionality.
this app is a cool idea, but it’s not particularly useful in its current form.
Yay for not requiring an account setup or subscription payments though, I do appreciate that it just does its thing without any of that hassle.
Great app. I’m using Chrome as the default browser tho. Would be nice if you could support Chrome.
Crashes whenever I try swiping through my photos
Updates aren’t being rolled out for this app mobile because of limitless, right?
Heidi, please make Rewind more user friendly to the average person. The timeline should not be where Rewind opens. I think you really need a UI polish. Please don’t give up on this, it really has a lot of potential.
There does not seem to be any way to delete part or all of the archive. This is a dealbreaker for me. I don’t need storage being hogged by history I no longer need.
I had also noticed my iPhone heating up and could not figure out why.
It crashes just after few seconds.
I really like the idea of Rewind. However, without the ability to delete sections of the timeline in the iOS app, some data such as credit card, birthdays, or secret questions is shown. Even if this app states that all the info stays private on the device, the AI feature having access to the data is discomforting. I’ve had to delete Rewind and reinstall every time I accidentally forget to disable the extension.
now it is only support eng?
Cool app with a generous free plan but need the ability to clear timeline history, selectively and entirely.
Rewind is amazing and I love its concept. I love being able to have screenshots taken of what I’m doing and then being able to have it reviewed later. It uses GPT-4 for most of the dialogue interactions, which is amazing to me, however, I do notice my battery getting hot with Rewind installed.
I have an iPhone 12 and I noticed that with Rewind installed my battery does get significantly hotter. Upon uninstalling it my battery has returned to normal temperature. I’ve tested this a few times.
I’ve taken screenshots to try and remember stuff for years, and now it’s actually useful thanks to Rewind. Super excited to be able to sync this with the Mac app.
I use this app on my Mac on a daily basis and rely on it heavily for various things. Having the same power on the iPhone now is a game changer. Keep up the great work!
I love this and the desktop app. But I don’t use it often enough to justify the cost. I really really wish there was a pay as you go tier for those of us who use it at most 2-4 times a month.
i need action button for start this app listen!
I use this app for Mac all the time. It helps me have perfect recall and multitask efficiently. Instead of berating myself for not remembering where I saw X or Y, I can search for it. There are so many additional features on top, like meeting transcripts and summarization, but the universal recall is the core and most useful proposition.
this app for iPhone extends your recall to all (the many) web pages you browse on your phone! Like its Mac companion, the integration is seamless. It is immediately useful to reca which article contained what, especially if like me you have 500 tabs opened, and every new tab closes an existing one!
6/5 to this app!
this app is a personalized AI powered by everything you've seen, said, or heard. Helpful tool for daily review.
Love this app, but would really love the ability to create a widget for “Record”. Seems much more valuable than other features… at least for iOS.
Save ideas with screenshots, summarize meeting audio, and a great Mac app as well. The monthly price is low and I use at least 5 times a day. It’s really a second memory!
I am constantly context switching throughout my day, especially when it comes to how I interact with my phone. this app is an innovative app that makes me feel less scattered. Now I have one place to quickly review everything I’ve ever seen in Safari, instead of spending time to retrace my steps, just to get back to content I’ve already seen. Amazing work to the whole team who created Rewind and keep it up!
