Has potential but app is not ready for use

I was very excited for this insulin pump due to its small size and ability to be worn in different ways compared to the tslim x2. Unfortunately I think tandem has released this pump before it was ready to be used by people. While the small size of the pump is great, TandemMobi is not reliable which brings constant headaches to managing my diabetes. Connection will be lost between TandemMobi and the pump at least once a day, sometimes up to 10 times a day. The notifications are glitchy and inconsistent (sometimes they will not let you dismiss them or they will vibrate on the pump and not show on TandemMobi ). The graph which shows blood sugars and daily time in range will only show and update ~20% of the time (sometimes closing and reopening TandemMobi will resolve this issue but sometimes it doesn’t). Tandem should not have released this pump before properly testing out TandemMobi . Due to the headaches of TandemMobi my time in range and A1c have both gotten worse compared to when I was on the tslim x2. I will probably switch back to injections over using this pump until tandem can resolve all of the issues with TandemMobi . But the small size of the pump is fantastic and that is the reason I will not consider switching back to the tslim x2.

Haven’t slept since getting this pump

There’s no way to turn off the alarm, and it’s constantly going off because it can’t connect to the CGM or the phone. God forbid you live in a place where you need a jacket, because the pump can’t connect to your phone. Least you toss and turn when you sleep and face the opposite direction of your phone, because the pump can’t connect to your phone and wakes you up the whole night. I haven’t gotten a decent sleep since getting this forsaken thing. I’m terrified of going to a movie and eating popcorn because it’ll buzz and disturb people the entire 2 hours because it senses your blood sugar going up. I just straight up stopped connecting my cgm to this pump so it’ll give me some peace, which completely negates the control IQ. I hate this thing,

No support for t:slim X2

TandemMobi does not support full control of the t:slim X2 from the phone app, nor does the t:connect app. If you guys are considering not giving us FULL control of OUR pumps (we own them, not you or the FDA) I suggest rethinking things.

While I’m at it, why don’t you guys work with the DIY community and make it easier for us to send commands to OUR pumps as we see fit, using whichever app whether DIY or slowly FDA approved, that we choose?

The t:slim X2 is my preferred pump (hardware-wise) to close the loop with via DIY APS apps, but it will not be possible until you guys release full control to the T1D community via an app update or share the communication protocols needed. My old Medtronic pump that gives me better glucose control thanks to having full radio control from DIY APS apps ain’t getting any younger while my X2 collects dust while I’m waiting for it to be unlocked. Please make our diabetic dreams come true by unlocking the full potential of out X2s before our old Medtronic pumps bite the dust! ❤️

Was so excited for this pump, but app does not work well

We got this pump for our young daughter about 3 weeks ago. I have been waiting for it to be released for ages. But, we lose connection with TandemMobi multiple times a week. Since we use it to dose, we have to uninstall and reinstall in order to bolus when this happens. The graph is constantly going away. In order to reinstall we have put pump on a charger, enter serial number, etc. it’s a process-not terrible if you only do it here and there. But, we have done it twice in three days. I am not giving up hope, but worried about the pump and app.
On a side note, I miss the ability to look up pump history besides on the Home Screen. I also miss the calculator feature for the carb count.
If TandemMobi was reliable, I would love it. TandemMobi just isn’t reliable for us. Hoping that changes soon.

fix your bad software

least customizable notification settings in the world, does not allow user autonomy over something that is CONSTANTLY ATTACHED TO THEM. there NEEDS to be a way to silence certain notifications. WHY is there no way to even put control IQ alerts on vibrate only at best???? control IQ alerts are also annoying and redudant given that it runs off of the user's CGM.... which gives them notifications but far, far far far less annoying because you can customize them. unlike the tandem mobi. additionally, there NEEDS. TO. BE. an easy to access place to see what phone update is compatible with TandemMobi if you're going to tell us during training that we can't update our phone unless TandemMobi is up to date, or else WE WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO OUR INSULIN PUMP. the user needs to know!!!!!!!!!! i haven't updated my phone since i got this pump. biggest mistake of my life.

Tandem Server & App Issues

Using the tandem web app to get important user information (such as total daily units of insulin) is somewhere between difficult to impossible. Even though the pump was designed to work with an iPhone, in order to connect to the Internet and get information about pump usage, you have to clear out all cookies and web information every time you login. This is true whether I’m using Safari, Google, or Google Chrome. My doctors office even has this problem. The Moby app itself does not provide any information about daily insulin usage. Also, the tandem web app does not provide any easy way to print all pump, glucose, and insulin Information out in a single or combined report. You have to click through multiple tabs and print multiple reports out to get what should be one simple information report.

Please fix all the bugs.

Background refresh is on and TandemMobi is never swiped away on the phone but every time I go onto it, the CGM data has to reload as if I've just opened it. And because it's not working properly, it spams me with notifications every 1-3 minutes when I have a high/low. On top of that, the "control IQ has predicted you will drop" notification activates after my sugar is already low. I'll be 68 and finally the notification will trigger. And the "control IQ has increased your basal but sugar is still high" notification is useless. There's nothing else to do but wait for the insulin to kick in. The alert fatigue this is creating is insane. The animation to swipe the notifications away within TandemMobi also gets stuck so it's choppy.

Needs some work

There are a couple of issues that prevent me from wanting to use the Tandem mobi pump and they are both software issues. First of all the pump software doesn’t get its CGM data from apple health and relies instead on a direct connection with CGM. This equates to lots of alerts where the pump loses connection. For example if the CGM is on the right side of your body and the pump is on the left. This is beyond inconvenient. Secondly the pump has imposter syndrome and thinks it is a CGM device by giving you alerts if your BG goes over a certain level. These alerts are baked into the software and cannot be turned off. So if you go high at night it becomes a sleep deprivation device because you can’t turn off the alert and it repeats every 30 mins. I use my CGM for BG alerts. I don’t need a second device that does the same thing especially when it can’t be configured.

Has one major bug, but amazing otherwise.

I have been using TandemMobi for a few months. I love the tandem system. It does a amazing job of keeping me in range and stopping lows and highs compared to the Omnipod 5 that I was previously on. I am super grateful for TandemMobi , however almost every day it will “lose connection” and all my previous data points on the graph will disappear. I called tech support and they had me uninstall, reinstall, and reconnect my pump to my phone. I don’t lose any iob or any previous data and it fixes the issue for a day or two then the problem occurs again. Not the end of the world but it would be nice to not have to do this every couple of days.

Needs work

The pump and app need more controls for experienced users, and consideration for real life use. Often times the pump is vibrating an informational reminder at 2am when it is really unnecessary. Unimportant alerts or reminders should be allowed to be muted during certain hours to avoid disturbing sleep. Currently have alerts and alarms that have been waking me up such as telling me to reconnect CGM. I don’t have an active session but am actively checking blood sugar- there is no way to stop this alarm from going off every 5 minutes… annoying. Also have an alarm telling me to charge every 20 minutes when the current charge will last 24 hours. Unnecessarily urgent and annoying.

Good app, but needs more history data

I like the Mobi a lot. Just switched from the T-slim. Love the phone controls. But, I hate that I have to go to Tandem Source on the website to see my total daily insulin use. On the T-Slim I was able to see that directly on the pump. Please fix that and soon! It would be amazing to have the total daily insulin available on the main screen and then when you tap it, it brings you to the breakdown of basal/bolus and the option to see how much you used over a period of days. That helps with deciding how much insulin to load at each cartridge change.

Need timers

This has a few very basic shortcomings, mainly the lack of timers.
I exercise daily and change my profile to lower my basal and corrections. There needs to be functionality added to set a timer for a profile change as I am prone to leave that on for hours, only to realize it when I enter a correction and the amount is clearly too low.
The fact of the profile change is also very subtly displayed on the Home Screen; a different colored bar across the top would be a more apt alert.
In addition, the algorithm on exercising needs work as it over delivers insulin during it.
Lastly the graph is not very helpful. It has a huge range and you can’t zoom in nor see the detail unless you’re on a computer. I’m often in range and want to see what my BG is when there are changes, but the “in range” part of the graph is less than 25% of the graph.

Lacking

I was truly hoping for a better app with Mobi after years with TSLIM. Unfortunately, that’s not been my experience with app often losing its BT connection without Dexcom for no reason, even while Dexcom app stays connected!
TandemMobi should also for more customer preferences like timed exercise and longer dual wave boluses. And it makes no sense that TandemMobi shows start date of CGMs, it’s useless since all that matters is know date & time of expiration! I know we can find this hidden in Tandem source, but why make it more difficult than needed to find this??
I wish companies (especially medical DME Cos) would listen more to their consumers’ needs when developing products and apps for better user experiences!
Love the pump, hate TandemMobi and the charger!

Limitations

Control IQ is a great feature. I mostly like the algorithm, save for a couple limitations: 1) you can’t set a target value using control IQ. 2) You can’t set a value for insulin duration (I use an insulin whose duration is 3 rather than 5 hours).
An annoying feature with the pump itself: When you set an action, such as deliver bolus or stop/start delivery, it asks multiple times of your intentions. I say once is enough, twice perhaps. How about an option that allows you to pick the number of caution signals? Often I’ll forget the third and final question, then my action gets cancelled. Is that a pump or app feature, I can’t tell.
TandemMobi now works on the iphone 17, I’m told; however when I bought mine, it wasn’t working so I had to return the phone. Now, unfortunately, I can’t get another one for awhile due to high demand, low supply.

Good app, but an update would be nice

I’ve been using the Tandem Mobi for a week now and I’m loving it! TandemMobi itself has done exactly what it’s supposed to do. However, like many reviews here, there is a connection problem e.g., TandemMobi will lose connection to my Dexcom G6 occasionally. It’s not the end of the world because I also get BG readings on my Dexcom app, but whenever the Mobi app loses connection then I lose the amazing Control IQ. It would be great to see this concern addressed in a new firmware update.

Another hope I have is that Tandem will make the Mobi app compatible for the Apple Watch so that I don’t have to always look at my phone to bolus. Having the option to use either my watch or phone would be a real plus to me.

Our first pump

My son is a type one diabetic and in elementary school. This is a great pump for a kid on the run, and the controlIQ is amazing, he’s had the best control since he was diagnosed. Unfortunately, because his independence is still emerging, he is not always aware of his battery running low, or the reservoir running low. I mentioned to our trainer that it would be wonderful to have an app similar to the Dexcom Follow app so I could know what’s going on. He also ignores some of the warnings, some of it is a school issue because he can’t take his phone out to clear the warning. But it would be nice for different sounds or vibrations for different warnings.

As far as the pump itself, we love it but if I could change anything about it, I would have a port to recharge the pump too. We like the qi charging but sometimes it is an inconvenience to take off and charge.

Potential Pump for Blind diabetics

There has never been an insulin pump that Blind diabetics can use. This has strong possibility since there is no screen and an iPhone app typically is accessible for the voiceover screen reader. I’m asking for Blind diabetics, can you please follow apples developer accessibility guidelines? Can you please look up the documentation and look it over? I am a retired computer programmer having worked in Azure and programming micros services and I would be more than happy to help test TandemMobi . Please! Follow Apple developer accessibility guidelines. BTW it is baffling to me that one of the leading causes of blindness in America is diabetic retinopathy and all the insulin pump manufactures have never accommodated this market. can you please provide me a contact number or a contact form that will actually get sent to your developers or a project manager guiding your development teams? Thanks so much!

Want more flexibility with alerts when insulin is stopped

Mostly TandemMobi is great. I find it mostly intuitive to use and it does what I need it to do in order to easily control my blood sugar.

However, my biggest complaint is the alarm that goes off when insulin is stopped. There doesn’t seem to be any way to change that alert to anything other than going off every 15 minutes. I would like to be able to set how long I want the pump to wait before alerting me, because there are situations in which I would like to keep the pump disconnected from my body for longer periods of time, like a long shower, swimming, or intimacy, and I don’t want to be interrupted every 15 minutes (or more often if I haven’t acknowledged the alert) during those times. Can you please add the feature for us to be able to customize the timing of those alerts?

I love my Mobi

I’m 70 years old and a type 1 diabetic. The Mobi is the first insulin pump I have ever used and I am extremely happy with it. I wish I had gone on the pump many years ago now.
I don’t miss the 4 shots a day I used to take. The Mobi controls my diabetes near perfectly. I am always in the 90%or higher control range.
I would have given it 5 stars rating but I have had the same issue that many of your reviewers have complained about. You lose the CGM graph totally or partially many times. I’ve talked to your technical people several times concerning this issue and they had no answer. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the software which fixes it for a day or so then it happens again. Other than this glitch the Mobi operates magnificently.

Great app for daily use

Recently switched over from Tandem t:slim to the mobi. Online training was excellent and walked me step by step on how to move over from one pump to another without issues, including CGM session. As I primarily used the mobile app on the t:slim, learning the differences between the two was very easy.

On a day to day basis it allows me to fully manage treatment on the phone app. Did end up programming the quick bolus in case my phone is not available/lost/broken.

The only information missing, while not critical in daily management, is more robust historical data on total daily dose and average usage data. I can get most of this online in tandem reports but it would be nice to have this info in TandemMobi itself.
