I’m disabled and on a fixed income each month. AARP suggests elderly people play games that require using the mind to solve puzzles to help our minds stay engaged. The games that I play come with ads. One of the many ads was one for a free trial of Facehub.
The download instructions said cancel one day before the subscription expires to prevent paying for a subscription. I wanted to try the face swapping video part of the app and downloaded it to test it. The results were terrible so I deleted the video, deleted the app (all within 15 minutes of testing the app). The next morning I received an email from Apple saying I had been billed $39.00 for a year’s subscription.
I immediately requested a refund from Apple and was denied. I sent a second refund request to Apple explaining that the Facehub app advertising was very misleading and again I was denied a refund. I tried contacting Facehub directly but never received any response.
I reloaded the app since I had paid for a years subscription and now it tells me that to use the App I have to make an in-app purchase of credits to be able to use it! Starting at $9.99 for only twenty credits and running up to $149.99 for 500 credits.
Don’t buy the hype and don’t trust Apple to do the right thing and refund your purchase price if you do buy it!!!
