Was told all 5 chargers had hardware issue. Drove 10 miles when I only had 13 left to another Francis energy station. Same thing “permission failure” I’m currently at a hotel waiting on my car to drop charge from a light post in a small town that took 45 minutes just to get an Uber. But don’t worry it’s Friday night and someone will get back to me in one business day. These chargers never work. Ever. Dangerous bc I’m in a seedy motel with my 10 year old due to this.

Their chargers never work. Their app never works. Their website doesn’t work. Suddenly the password I use is incorrect somehow, and no matter how many times I do the “Forgot Password” option to change it, whether through FrancisEnergy or website, I never get an email to do so. Nothing in my spam folder or anywhere. They also never responded to any of my emails for customer support regarding their chargers not working.
If you have similar issues with this company, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General of Oklahoma. Action will be taken if they receive enough complaints.

I never take the time to review apps but the horribleness of this entire experience inspired me to leave a review. Look Francis energy… you are a crappy small charge station business. Nobody knows or cares who you are. So why in gods holy name would you create an experience asking me for my life story to create an account with you just so I can charge my vehicle. You don’t need to know my family history in order to accept a credit card payment. My third cousin once removed is now receiving junk mail from you due to the extensive background check you perform in order to start charging. I have a secret clearance for the US military that was easier to achieve than beginning the charge process at your station. Thank you for stealing a significant portion of my life that I’ll never get back from the account creation process.

Our payment kept getting rejected at an EV charging station from this company and the station forced us to download FrancisEnergy . FrancisEnergy asked for way too much information to get started along the lines of email and personal information. This is a one off charger we will never see again. Each time I entered the information the charger would time out, say failed to charge, and then ask to restart. I would have to force close FrancisEnergy and start over. FrancisEnergy should not be needed in the first place. I finally got FrancisEnergy to start the charger and then the application crashed. I was worried the charger would stop, but it didn’t. FrancisEnergy is 100% unnecessary and I have no confidence the application requested card details or personal details are secure and will not be sold.
In short, frustrating application experience just to charge a car that made it take almost a half hour just to get started.

Francis Energy created a new app and abandoned the old one without informing its customers or transferring user accounts or refunding the funds that were left behind on the account. I had to find out myself about this recently. The customer service mentioned that they abandoned all their old users and will share the information but will let the Level 2 support know to refund the amount. Not sure how much customer money was swindled this way. Back in Oct 2022, none of their chargers worked and I had tried at least 3 different locations spending several hours talking to customer service. Finally, after failing all remote places found a different vendor with just 1% charge left. Had to reduce the speed on turnpike to 45 mph (below legal limit) to save energy and turn off the heater. I will never trust them again for pushing us to this situation. Imagine we had a 2 year old in the car and it was late night.

FrancisEnergy will not open without crashing on iOS 17.3.1

FrancisEnergy made me sign up three times, and the customer support person tonight was very pretty unhelpful and sounded like he had too much to drink today. Is this even a real
Company?

Your burning tax payer dollars to install the chargers. At least get FrancisEnergy running so people can use it and increase your revenue stream. This is who I don’t like govt sponsored projects like this.

FrancisEnergy is slow to load any charger and the few near me have been coming soon for far too long. We don’t need more networks we need more chargers
by Themichealgreen
The worst ev charging app I’ve experienced.
1. The sign up process takes too long.
2. The UI/UX looks like it came from the iPhone 3G
3. When I started charging, FrancisEnergy crashes immediately. The charge worked but I could get FrancisEnergy to reopen until the charge was finished. This is unacceptable in my opinion.
Charging experiences like this give EV adoption a harder time. Charging needs to be easy, nice looking, and convenient. This experience was none of the above.

It’s bad enough to have to sign up for 500 different apps to charge my car while road tripping but I can live with that. But Francis Energy’s invasion of my privacy is a bridge too far. There’s no conceivable reason they need my plate number to put electricity in my car. App deleted!

Thanks for having the stations but please put them on a major charging network. It's silly to have to download an app and give you my address just to charge for 45 minutes while passing through the area.

This is the worst setup I’ve ever seen. Their stations won’t accept payment so you have to use this horrible app. FrancisEnergy asks for so much information upfront and you have to constantly renter your credit card info. Who came up with this? What software company made this trash?
by OMG_REVIEW
The credit card reader on the charging station failed to authorize my card, but the same card works on file in FrancisEnergy ? How does that work? Oh I get it, you are forcing people to sign up for your app so you have all their personal info.
Also why do you need to know my car’s license plate? You literally cannot use FrancisEnergy without providing this data. That has nothing to do with EV charging and I am reporting you to Apple.

Chargers never work!!

Was so excited when Francis started putting chargers across Oklahoma. Initially you had to use the EV Gateway app. Then they transitioned to “Francis EV Charging” which was better. Until a few weeks ago when I couldn’t pay by app, couldn’t pay by credit card or RFID and no one would answer the phone on a rainy night. Today I had to use one of their chargers and it still wouldn’t work but someone would at least answer the phone. They acted like I never had an account with them and had me set up a new account. I lost my wallet balance in the old app I guess. Anyway tonight I see that there is a new different app called “Francis Energy”. There is no excuse for them to not update the previous app to say it had been discontinued instead of just abandoning it. Really frustrated. Will update this review in the future if my experience with their chargers improve.

When you find the charger was Francis Energy, your first enrollment is a bit slow. Would have enjoyed auto fill, especially for credit card. It was cold, windy, snowy Oklahoma night trying to k get just enough charge to make it the last 15 miles. Half the time at charger was spent getting the enrollment done. But, it did work - and I was able to start the charge from app after I unplugged replugged (station timed out after initial connection while trying to get going.

Information took 5 minutes to input and prompts were clear and information was probably the least intrusive I’ve had to fill out on an app in last 5 years.

Its a little janky about some things but it basically works and they have a decent network of locations.

Please make an app for the new chevy EV’s that works with the in dash system.

Many people recommended through plugshare to download FrancisEnergy in order to use the Francis chargers. Come to find out, it’s not mandatory. There is a guest option. But I’m so glad I did. As soon as I pulled up to the charger and opened my app it was already connecting to the charger. As soon as I connected the charger I was able to jump back in my car to stay warm and control the charging session.
