Has potential

Dawnbeat definitely has potential. However anytime I try to import any sample from AudioShare it crashes. Seems there are memory issues that need to be ironed out. iPhone 13pro

It looks perfect but keeps crashing

For what i can tell it looks like an amazing music app...but it keeps crashing when i try to add sounds...crashing every time i try to add a sound from audioshare...crashing most times ( sometimes it works) while adding sounds from either my folder or the included sound libraries...i wish this can be fixed...i really think i could enjoy Dawnbeat...its exactly what i was looking for...but as it is ...its useless...
Can you help me?
Thanks

Has potential

Encountered problem. Under movie composer, crashes each time I click Render. Can’t find mention of this function in Help.

IT KEEPS CRASHING!!!

everytime i select a project it just closes Dawnbeat entire and i can’t use it anymore.
please fix it this has soo much potential

Cool but buggy

Dawnbeat has potential to be the greatest amongst the competition. Big fan of the auv3 support; Adding some of those external fx really take my beats to the next level. Sliding across a pad for stutters/note repeat is really cool too.

However, Dawnbeat crashes every time i try to import from AudioShare. Thats where i store all my samples so its unusable for me until this is fixed. I am on the latest iOS and app version

Enjoyable sampler,sequencer, and effects

Only gripe here is it can’t run as an AUV3 in AUM. I like that it does support using other AUV3 apps internal but would love to be able to use it as an AUV3 itself. I also really like the GUI its very beautiful!

Fun so far, can add option to change to mono?

Would really like to have my kicks and subs in mono… pleeeaasee? Then it’s a 5 star app

Ts amazing

I love it. It’s an actually good functioning daw and free! Only thing I don’t like is if a sample starts playing you can’t stop it it plays until it’s over unless I change jt to only play when I hold it. If you could have a button to stop all audio that would make dis 5 stars. That’s my only complaint but is enough for -1 star. Overall tho amazing app

Small Addition

Can we get 2 more groups?

2ND Update - consistent improvements.

Apple won’t let me update my original review but I had to write a new review to talk about how great this app is. It started off with promise and consistent updates make Dawnbeat a sampler you can’t ignore. Bit by bit it’s been enticing me to step away from the Marsupial king and do more in DB. The only thing that’s bothering me right now (and maybe I’m just missing something) is there doesn’t seem to be an easy way to copy a sequence from one page to the next. The only way I can see to do it is go in to a sequence, select all, edit copy, go to a new sequence, edit past. It would be helpful if there was a sequence manager like the pad manager. Otherwise Dawnbeat is so much fun and I get interesting grooves going instantly with it.

To developer: I know we can copy a sequence by dragging it. This seems to only work when copying a sequence to the same page. If I want to copy one for 16 to 32 and try to drag the sequence, it just freezes on the screen and often crashes the program.

Holy Wow.

Talk about nailing it right out of the box… So: I happen to be a pretty serious about another marsupial-named sampler auv3 app that’s very popular (and for good reason. It’s changed my workflow for the better.)

I saw this app kind of randomly but once I saw who the developer was, I was intrigued: VectorQ is one of my GOAT graphic design apps. Right away the workflow is pretty well organized, the effects are great, and the design is fantastic… maybe even a bit better than the eucalyptus-driven cousin if I dare say so, especially on my iPhone 13.

The coup de grace though is INTERNAL AUV3 support - that is a massive gamechanger!

Will definitely be playing a lot more with this and putting it through its paces to see what it’s made of. Definitely impressed so far, expect this to only get better.

Warning, long rave review ahead

I can say that Dawnbeat and koala are the two best sampling apps on iOS. I have at least 10 different sampling apps, and these two are the tops out of all of them. I’m not going to compare this to koala as they are both different, but they both have awesome features that make both of them must haves. I played with this for about 10 minutes before I just ended up purchasing it because it’s so deep. From the sequencer, the AUV3 instruments that you can pull right in to sample, the effects, and the plethora of samples that come with Dawnbeat, makes it a no-brainer. The only issue I have and this isn’t really an issue is that the memorizer function. I wish it had an undo button. I like how you can set how many samples you want to memorize but if it just had a quick undo or at least a way to delete a few samples in it, that would be awesome. I know once you transfer what you’ve played in the memorizer to the sequencer you can dive right in and edit from there, so it isn’t a dealbreaker but for some of us lazy people, it would be nice to be able to quickly delete or undo the some of your samples played in the memorizer. However, the memorizer is an amazing feature and it’s cool that it even has it so honestly, that’s my only complaint and it’s not even a complaint.
Oh- one more thing-if you don’t save your project, you will lose all of the samples you’ve loaded on each pad. That is one actual complaint. sometimes I load up everything and then I have to quickly close Dawnbeat and I forget to save and there goes a half hour of loading samples onto the pads.

Dawnbeat has a lot of features, and it is so deep that only a few hours into playing it on my iPad and my iPhone I have found so many interesting features that I can’t believe are in an app at this price point. Dawnbeat could be five times the price and still completely worth it. I own hundreds of iOS audio apps, and I’ve been beta testing iOS audio apps since 2010 -I still get shocked when great apps, like these are released with such a good price. It’s so wonderful to know that a developer cares about music and helping other artists make music instead of putting out an overpriced subscription money grab.
Thank you for this wonderful app and at this price point. In my opinion, it is a gift. Between Dawnbeat and koala, I have not used my SP303, SP404, Korg volca sampler, or Korg ES 1 sampler in months. All I can say is download Dawnbeat and I guarantee you will play with it for about an 15 minutes and then you will end up buying it.

Such a fun app!

I cam to Dawnbeat via the same developer’s WaveBox audio editing app and his excellent Vector Q video/stills vector app.

This is another great app from a developer who keeps improving and maintaining his apps. So much fun to play with. Recommended!

Great App

Got to appreciate the work and effort of this developer. Nice app and interface of this fun beat maker. Consistent effort to update and improve very commendable.

Beeeeuuuutifullll

I adore Dawnbeat. AUM support. The work flow is in a really good place, hope they continue to develop. I find it really creative to play with,I keep thinking of crayons, not perfect, but fun as heck

Yo! We Got One Here!

Look. I have an amazing recording studio, yet I spend more of my time creating with the iPad. I have sold multitudes of millions as a writer/producer with Universal Music. 30 plus years in the game! I can tell you technology has changed the game for the better and worse in the music industry! This beautiful little gem is not getting the it’s just due! Yeah, we all have Koala, and others… but it’s something about Dawnbeat. As long as the dev doesn’t get disenchanted with how many are using it, and constantly does things in here, the other apps aren’t, Dawnbeat will be at the top of what it does momentarily. Trust me. Kudos to the devs or dev! Can’t wait to see what’s next in the updates! 100% 🔥🔥🔥

Support this

I immediately paid, not because what’s here is already perfect. But so the developer can continue to improve upon it. So everyone asking for features. I hope you paid…

Dawnbeat is 5☆! ~ screen rotation needs a little tweak

Luis, ma dude! It’s fascinating how your mind works. I’m not sure how much of a small developer you are, but I’ve downloaded and paid for upgrades on most of your apps. Sometimes small developers come up with the coolest, creative app ideas.

With that said? I have a small request

Wou it for you to release an update where it is possible for this app users to use Dawnbeat while the device USB-C charging port, it’s facing upwards? Sometimes devices need to be charged or some uses have the preference of using wired headphones, so that would be very convenient.

Best,

Wow. Love this app

I downloaded on a whim because it looks like other pad apps but this is Much different. It is really a useful musical instrument. So many features. This actually passed Koala as my fave iOS sampling app. Very cool. It was feee but after playing with it for 15 min I instantly bought it to get full features. Also love that it’s a one time purchase instead of a subscription. Had to support this!!!

Wholly Moley what an awesome update!

This sampler app was already 5 stars from me but unbeknownst to me, you had updated it a couple days ago and added MORE FEATURES like BRIIKS (which seems to be another app) that allows quick chopping, time stretching, and effects manipulation of samples into the this app. Wow I had no clue this was added until now and have spent good amount of time messing around with samples. You are one talented app dev Luis!

Standing on its own

We all know it’s kinda hard to part with our beloved sampler that shall not be named because it’s Dawnbeats time to shine.

Dev made interesting choices right out of the gates and I’m have quite a bit of fun using it. I dig the aesthetic although I can see why it’s not for everybody. This is worth the price of admission and if the developer adds the usual suspects to the mix as well it could shape up to be quite the Sampler

Super solid, only missing a couple of things

First off, Dawnbeat is quite a bit better than you might think at first glance. The workflow for laying down a track from scratch is super fluid/seamless.

The only items I’ve noticed to be missing would be:

integration with AudioShare. Unless I’m missing something with my workflow on iOS, this is borderline mandatory. How else are you supposed to be able to preview sounds and upload into Dawnbeat ? Uploading from the files searcher doesn’t give you a way to listen to sounds before adding which is a huge flaw, AudioShare fills this void.

Second item would be integration with AUV instruments. The integration with AUV3 fx that already exists is a very nice pick up compared to say Koala, so this is already headed in the right direction!

I just bought Dawnbeat 10 mins ago, still learning and discovering but it looks to be a winner for sure
