No way to cancel after the trial period. Also I emailed the developer and no response. Better hope you like it.

App always gives me an error when I try to add items to my garden by searching or by wishlist. Doesn’t work like it should.
It needs work

by Josiah13245
It doesn’t help much if your new to gardens. I can’t click the month and it doesn’t just give me a list of what I should be doing now and ideas for garden layout
The add I saw shows a zone map, you chose your state and the month. To see what’s best to plant. Down loaded and installed. Had to agree to seven day trial to even get in😡. But can’t find what I’m looking for, and the only reason I downloaded GrowIt 😩😒😝😣😖

GrowIt isn’t even close to what was advertised. It would be fun (but not very helpful) at the very beginning of the season. I’m cancelling and deleting. This should be free.
Read their privacy policy. Typical CCP stuff. I would not use GrowIt . The Chinese are always spying on you so keep away from obvious entry points line this and TikTok. Use your heads people!

Facebook Ad misleading
2024-02-25
by Kthomas6352
The Facebook ad shows the ability to plan out raised beds and what you’ll put in them / how many plants for each bed, etc. That doesn’t seem to be anywhere on GrowIt ! The ad is very misleading!
This app is just “ok”

by Superchef36
It doesn’t include specific types of plants and the update took away the plant identification thing, which is a feature I loved.
I currently growing plants you say are not suitable for growing now!!? I would like to add them but it won’t let me! Hate GrowIt .. lol
I wanted to learn what grows easily inside but the trailer was more intuitive looking than the real app. I was looking for seeds to grows with young kids age 4 and 6.
A bit too basic for my needs

The catalog of plants could be larger. There’s a section about hydroponic growing yet there’s nothing really listed information-wise about how to grow hydroponic plants. Just ideas of what can be grown. Would be nice to have more detailed care information to go along with my hydroponic herbs and veggies. Also, this is not really suited for container gardening long-term. The watering schedules will not be accurate if you grow herbs or peppers and tomatoes and let’s say, a 5 gallon bucket on your patio.
Very limited plant options

by Little Mama Lina
I was excited to try GrowIt- especially to layout my garden beds for each season. But I was only able to create one plant bed (?)- I need to have at least 4 different ones. It would also be helpful if you could create garden bed layout for each season, and have them at the ready, so to speak. I also was not able to find several of the plants I needed to add to my garden beds (for example dwarf Siberian kale). I understand it would be hard to have all vegetables/plants available, but perhaps there can be a way to add a plant to your library if it’s not in there? And then be able to add that into your garden bed plan.
Odd design

by Natkinator
There is a lot to like, such as the visual design, plant identifier and diagnostic tool.
However, it’s very strange that GrowIt lets the user add the same vegetable to the “growing” list multiple times, and simultaneously be in the “planning” list. That’s just bad UX.
Also, if it knows my zone, it should straightforwardly advise me if and when to plant a vegetable. It clearly could be trying harder to make one a successful gardener.
Disappointed

Although a good garden program, disliked their subscription tactics. Signed up for the 7 day trial expecting to have access to everything to try out but they slam you with an additional subscription fee to see additional resources. Looking for another program that puts it up there for one fee and no additional costs.
I really like some things about GrowIt but it would be better if you could do bulk watering or a way to organic your plants by what needs watering next, fertilizing, etc. not easy to have to go into each plant to check on everything and update each one when you water. Maybe a list of plants you can check off as watered or fertilized.
Could be better

by Lu7368854
It seems like a good app, has a lot of info about the plants but it’s very limited unless you pay for it. I fine it mostly annoying that you can’t add more than four plants to your “planning to grow” list unless you pay. It doesn’t cost an outrageous amount but for me at least the free part should be expanded.
HardTo find

It too hard to find what you’re looking for. I was looking for how to tell if something is ripe. I saw it once and can’t find it again
Really want to love this

by Piontkowski Triplets
I downloaded GrowIt with the hopes I could transfer my hand written garden journal but, not all varieties are listed and there doesn’t appear to be a way add them. I also tried to input my raised garden beds but you can literally one have one, not multiple?
We have a small hobby farm and I would love to be able to add different varieties along with the vendor and create multiple raised garden beds. We currently have 5 beds that are 2x8 and 5 beds that are 4x8 plus an orchard that’s 96x48. If we could truly customize our gardens it would be more beneficial. I could track date planted, how long it took to germinate, results and any other notes of what worked and didn’t work.
For now I will have to stick to my journal.
Harvesting times
2024-03-14
by RSRumery1
I’m noticing that on a lot of common plants you do have harvest times. Can I enter this data manually during the “add” stage so it can be auto tracked for me?
I really want to like GrowIt because it does have some good information. But for the cost it should have much more…. Such as…. More varieties, diseases of you plants and how to identify, zone planting that is more accurate (if you open the section but forget to hit a specific plant the information is not accurate. Also a lot of the planting suggestions are different from my other three apps I have. There are really nice features included in GrowIt like plant identification by picture and information on specifics for the plants but it is not always accurate. I really like the concept of GrowIt and I think if they fix a few issues it would be worth the price, but I’m keeping the free version until it’s fixed.
Could be a great app, but…

It crashes constantly as you are trying to scroll down through the list of plants. Very annoying.
So far so goood

Would be nice to multi select when looking up veggies, like onions I would like to multi select 4 varieties and not have to do each one individually. Same with lettuce and peppers. Most people don’t grow just one variety and being able to multi select would be Geary. But thus far, nice app.
Good but one suggestion

I found GrowIt mid way into the season. I wish there was a way to change the date for harvest. I remember what day I planted my plants and want to make sure I harvest them at a good time. I know the date they give isn’t sure fire but it’ll help me keep an eye on around what time to harvest. Now I play the guessing game on how many days I got left. Other than that it’s a great app

I love the layout and function, I just wish I could change the location manually so I could still plan even when I'm in a location with different weather from where I live.
GrowIt is great and very informative and extremely helpful definitely a must have
Great App!

by ADonnan86
As a beginner I really love and appreciate GrowIt and the information it provides. There are some things I would change; for instance I go to water and it says I don’t have to for the day, then refreshes late in the evening and all my plants need watering, or it doesn’t refresh at all and I don’t water and the next day it says I didn’t water any of my plants.
I also dislike that it’s “set” to my location, but the weather on my app never matches the actual weather.
I love the garden planner so I can be careful to not plant certain plants together, and I love the diagnosis feature. It’s a wonderful app that I highly recommend!
Good with room for improvement

Lots of good information for a given veggie at your fingertips in an easy and readable format. Lots of good tips and videos. The Growing and Reminder options need some enhancement and fixes. I’ve had to add and delete the same veggies Im growing a couple of times because they either show twice in the reminders or disappear from the reminders, which makes it hard to keep proper track of my veggies, and defeats the purpose of that feature. Also, there doesn’t seem to be an option to switch a veggie status from say “seedling” to “vegetative” without having to delete the whole thing and add it again, which is a problem because by then I have forgotten the exact date I first started growing the veggie, which is important. Some veggies do not have the same complete information as the rest (e.g. brandywine tomato vs beefsteak).

This will be my second year using GrowIt to help with my garden. It has really helped my keep track and has many useful tips.
This is the first year I’ve had a vegetable garden so I refer to GrowIt almost everyday for information. The only thing I wish was better is the weather, it’s always at least 10 degrees less than the actual temperature. I think that makes a difference in the watering schedule. At first I followed the reminders but found my plants were wilting. Other than that I like GrowIt .
New garden planner feature, but limited

I am currently using GrowIt and competitor app Planter, and I am trying to decide which one I will keep, because I like features of both. The new garden planner feature in GrowIt is very helpful, but limited to only one garden. Would it be possible to be develop that feature to include multiple garden with the ability to name those gardens?
I love this app! There is nothing better out there.

I love GrowIt! There’s nothing better out there. I’m still trying to figure out some parts through, like the planting section, do I plant seeds at that time or established sprouts? I’m just not sure.

love it!! Would be nice to have the photos stored for each plant to see progress. Also It would be easier to see the data for each plant on front page versus clicking the edit button to see each plant
So far, I’m loving it!

I had always hoped to find an app like this that makes not only the planning of my garden easy, but also remembering to water, etc. I love that it can diagnose problems and has TONS of information to help you be successful in growing. It even tells you how many plants you can plant per square foot and if it’s next to companion plants or not. I docked a star for a couple of things, and maybe I just haven’t found them yet, but where there is a reminder to water, you can’t manually add rainfall. That would be a nice add and especially if you could track how much rain the plants got. Another thing, and again, I just may not have found it yet, I wish there was a way to track plant maintenance like fertilizer or even pesticides used and for what. The final thing is being able to manually enter when they sprout so that it keeps track of that as well. Ultimately, GrowIt offers so much and what you get for the price seems very fair, but I do think it needs a few tweaks. I would definitely recommend GrowIt, but developers, if you’re listening, think you could add a few more little options? Please? 🥰
Update: I didn’t continue far enough after taking a photo to find the days until harvest. If you use this from planting to harvest, this is a great app. Lots of info. The only complaint is that it doesn’t have info for several of the things I’ve planted, but it seems to have the basics.
Great for beginners. Thank you developers for the answer!!
——————
I saw an add on social media that insinuated that you could take a picture of a fruit and it would tell you how many days until it is ripe. I thought, interesting, how can an app do that. I downloaded and started the free trial. I’m thankful for the trial because I don’t see anything in GrowIt that tells you time until ripe. Nice try, but I won’t need the other info in GrowIt . I can research pretty easily without paying a fee. I will say though, for a beginner gardener, there is some useful info all in one place. I just wish they wouldn’t give people false hope of functionality that is probably not even possible, let alone a function of GrowIt .

This really helps first time/new vegetable gardeners. It even detects if you have had rain, so it lets you know when to water/ when not to water, when to fertilize, harvest, disease/ insects, and gives hints on how to care without insecticides.
GrowIt has changed the way I garden! It’s an excellent organizational tool to keep track of when you plant and when to water and when to reap the harvest. There is a section that also tells you all about the plant that you plant. I have learned many new thing since using GrowIt :)
