Subscription doesn’t work in this app

I purchase a 1 year subscription and I cannot access it. Each new issue AirSpaceMagazine says that I have to purchase it. AirSpaceMagazine is a rip off and should be removed from AirSpaceMagazine Store.

Authentication Problems

It appears that the same developer produced AirSpaceMagazine for National Geographic, Smithsonian, and Air & Space magazines. They all failed on my iPad with the latest revisions reporting an “Authentication Failure”. Thinking something was likely to fail, I kept my old app version of Smithsonian Magazine after the latest update. When it failed, I was able to restore to the previous version, which is working fine. I was not able to restore to previous versions of the Nat Geo and Air & Space. I have not called all these magazines but I did call Nat Geo. They said it worked fine on their iPad and that someone would get back to me. That was a couple of weeks ago and no one has called. I would rate this version a 1 but previous versions a 3 (mostly because while the content was presented nicely, user verification has always been very poor).

Not allowing download of subscription

I am seeing the same issue as noted by others. I have 2 December issues showing and only a buy/subscribe option for the current issue (cannot download). I did call their support number and got a poor response. "Our app sometimes has issues with iOS 8". Delete AirSpaceMagazine and reinstall. This means I have to download any issues I want on my iPad again. The person on the line did make a comment that I maybe want to try again on February 6. He wouldn't say if there was a new app being worked on or if there might be some server upgrade that will fix the issues. Personally, I think there is nothing happening, but he wanted to say something.

Fortunately, I have the current issue in paper so can at least read that one.

can't delete and get to Internet browser and my other apps

Smithsonian institution please make AirSpaceMagazine in general to be delectable and I love everything you do but please make it delectable every time I get in your app I need to turn my iPad off and it's gone thank goodness please make that a future update at first I got mad because I thought I was stuck but then I gave up and turned it off and then I got to be able to get to my other apps if I couldn't I would be a very mad but it didn't further people please keep this in mine and my experience in AirSpaceMagazine was good but I have a member ship so it may work differently I don't know sorry this was so long thank you smithsonian😀!

reinstall to fix problems downloading latest

I had the same problem as the 1-star reviews. I have a current subscription but could not download the latest issue. I contacted support and was told there is a problem that required deleting and reinstalling AirSpaceMagazine . Inconvenient, but that fixed it.

Cannot login but able to see issues

As other subscribers have pointed out, there is no way to login and see the free digital issues (with the printed subscription) using AirSpaceMagazine. But, every time a new issue is released, I receive an email from the magazine saying that a new issue is available to see just by clicking on the link provided. I have tried it and, without even login in (maybe because I am using the link inside their email), I am able to see on line or download not only the current issue but the older ones. So, there is a way around it, but it is a pity that AirSpaceMagazine does not provide an easier way than having to wait for an email with a link to have access to the digital version.

A&S no longer free to print subscribers

I was just told that past issues on the iPad will not be accessible. This makes it perfectly clear that Smithsonian A&S has zero concern for its subscribers. Since I had them on my iPad where they could easily be accessed, I had discarded all of the past print issues. Now, without any warning or rationale, they have made it impossible for me to read my PAID FOR back issues. This is completely unacceptable and will most assuredly make me seriously rethink my continued my own and my gift recipient's Smithsonian AND Smithsonian A&S memberships.

Too bad that the greedy money-grubbing bean counters have been allowed to destroy a previously wonderful institution.

Great APP

I love AirSpaceMagazine. The colors of the photos Is brilliant, I love the way the photographs are placed next to the text. Unlike some of the other reviewers I much prefer the landscape mode for this particular application.

Doesn't work

App does not download issues, even when signed in with active subscription the new issues takes several weeks to download. And if you log-out, it does not recognize your username/email. When you request a new password, AirSpaceMagazine does not recognize the new password so one cannot login. Tried four times now. No ability to contact customer service. I travel so the print edition does nothing for me. Considering canceling.
Update on 16 October: still cannot login and no response from customer service.

Junk - do not use

I started to experience the same issues as the previous post after I installed the latest version. Trying to use AirSpaceMagazine got so bad I rest the iPad in an effort to eliminate possible bugs. After the reset I now lost the ability to login to my account completely and lost all previous issues I had left to read. Went from bad to worse. I confirmed account credentials by logging in online, all is fine. So much for being a charter member from the beginning. This needs to be fixed.

Digital Delivery Cancelled?

I have been a subscriber to Air & Space Magazine for at least 26 years. I receive the print copy as usual but have stopped receiving the Digital Delivery version through AirSpaceMagazine. Are you eliminating that option so that fans of the magazine have to subscribe twice? Please say that that is not the case as I think it's quite unfair. Many have stated that they are experiencing the same thing in their reviews.

I prefer the new interface

The old interface tended to turn pages when I only wanted to scroll horizontally on a specific page. This update provides more positive control moving around and between pages.

News stand not an app.

I can't imagine this thrilling anyone but print subscribers, but it does what it's designed to do. Registration was simple and quick. Access to only your issues, not all back issues.

No zoom

For some reason a&s disabled the ability to pinch zoom on pictures. This really stinks as one of the main reason I subscribe is the beautiful photos. As this ability is native to the iOS platform it must have been a conscious decision to disable it. Dumb.

Please fix the app

I've also been a print subscriber since the very first issue. AirSpaceMagazine used to work fairly well, but there is no longer a way to sign in. Selecting App Support here takes one to a nonexistent web page. Maybe this is a metaphor for the current state of the US space program.

Lets go vertical

I like having the iPad option, but it is annoying that it only works horizontally (landscape) and not vertically (portrait) mode. It isn't natural that way to read. Please change this locked-in setting!

Worthless app

App no longer recognizes one's account. I tried creating a new account, but it doesn't recognize that, either. Even before when I could login, I was not able to download the electronic version until after sending Air & Space an email. Now, I can't even login. I'm using iOS 9.

Doesn't work

App just doesn't work. Can't log in. Changed my password 4 times and still get "auth failure." Good thing I get the print edition so at least I can read the articles and look at the pictures :-)
Why are they wasting the money advertising an app that they don't even check if it works?

Worse App ever

I cannot understand why Air & Space has such a lousy app and cannot get it fixed. It no longer recognizes log in even after changing at least 4 times. It will not allow me to access my subscription until at least several weeks after being released digitally (actually end up reading hard copy due to app not working). It is impossible to get ahold of customer service and they never respond. Cannot understand how they let such a lousy app out and refuse to fix it!
