Photo Sketch Reviews

Things have gotten off to a very bad start .... I'm hoping I can get PhotoSketch going by rebooting my iPad. I started with a single photo and in the process of enhancing it when PhotoSketch said I could unlock some features by paying 99 cents. So I did but the features didn't get unlocked. 😩 Worse yet, after force quitting and restarting PhotoSketch , a number of the controls are now locked and I can no longer open a new image to enhance. Net: unless rebooting iOS gets PhotoSketch going with my purchased enhancements, I will delete it and chalk it up as a bad experience.

I liked what PhotoSketch did. I paid for it. PhotoSketch stopped working. I’ve turned the phone on and off. Tried multiple times to get it to work. So far no luck.

Now I’m seeing in reviews from as long as two years ago that other people experience the same problem I’ve been seeing - that the top row f buttons, including the button for importing photos, is frozen and won’t work. And this is the punishment a person gets for paying for the non-ad version? How is it possible that this has been a problem for years and nothing has been done about it?!?!

I bought this a long time ago and have been enjoying this but after the most recent upgrade or iOS upgrade, I am not able to import and save photos from/to the phone. All the icons on the top of the screen (import/save/setting)stopped responding and not working any more. If I go back to the version with all the annoying ads, all functions start working again. I don’t know whose fault it is (apple or developer) but it really stinks. Because I have been enjoying PhotoSketch, I wanted to give a 5star rating but I can only give 1 star until this problem has been resolved.

I upgraded and when I tried to add a new photo to filter it wouldn’t allow me to. I had to delete and re-download PhotoSketch to upload a new picture and when I restored my purchase to stop seeing an ad every time I wanted to save something, it did the same thing. I could no longer start on a new photo. It’d be ridiculous if you’re expected to pay $.99 for every use but even if that’s the case, there doesn’t appear to be any way to do that without deleting and downloading PhotoSketch again.

I liked the simplicity of PhotoSketch - wish it still worked. Today, I saw it seemed to be updated, it worked once - then none of the buttons across the top of the screen want to work anymore. I think the author is trying to fix it - so I gave him a 2nd star.

I see updates - but none address its’ failure to work. I deleted PhotoSketch , re-downloaded it, unlocked PhotoSketch , it will load one image and then that button (the camera one) freezes and refuses to work. So that plus clearing the image area needs addressing.

Been using this for years now, across multiple devices. It’s good at what it does... but has some frustrating quirks. First, if you pay to upgrade, it immediately LOSES the ability to save. I have to uninstall and then reinstall every time I use one of the “paid” filters. Secondly, I periodically get notifications that “new filters are available” and then somehow the update has no new filters. I seriously think they are just bot notifications that have no actual updates attached. At the end of the day, it’s still a useful app, but it doesn’t seem to be maintained or updated at all by the developer.

I have been using this for a while and it has always worked fine. Decided to update to pro, paid for the update, and now I can no longer import photos... Would love some help on this one. Would happily improve my rating once this works again

I really like this, even though it seems kinda useless. The designs of my pictures are great and all, but I’m not gonna do this for every picture on my phone! This is a very cool I can pretend like I actually have a talent! Anyways I would only do this to my VERY FAVORITE pictures. Other than that it’s useless and takes up some space so you might want to delete it every now and then and redownload it. But as the title of this review says, nicely done!

Truly a fantastic app... but when I paid for the ad-free version it no longer worked. Top button bar became unresponsive (as others here have pointed out). Had to uninstall and reinstall as the free version with the ads and get a refund. Still happily using PhotoSketch , but would love to get that glitch fixed!

This is an excellent app! I have used the free version for some tome with no issues. I finally tired of the adds and upgraded to the paid version this morning. Now it freezes the top row buttons. The rest of PhotoSketch seems to work, but you can only do so much with the one default image. It is a5-star app, but the bug needs to get fixed. I docked it one star for that issue.

PhotoSketch is easy to use and looks like an old sketch. The drawback is trying to print the image. It appears there is a limit to how long one can use it without doing a review. I have had this since Monday, 3 days, so I was surprised to not be able to print the image from PhotoSketch .

This is a very nice app to easily alter photos into sketches and send them back to your photo album. The trial period is long enough to convince you that PhotoSketch is worth keeping and deserves a positive review. If you always wished you could sketch faces or scenery but didn’t have that artistic flare, give yourself a break, try PhotoSketch and release the artist inside of you.

The portraits shown as an example are easy and I’m not in the least bit interested in. However, I added a forest picture with cropped photos from a different app and PhotoSketch filled out all the fine details from the textures of every tree person and animal. I will down load it to my art app and I have a foundation to start my project of erasing adding colors then project it on my canvas and air brush. I can print it for masking and I’ll have saved a weeks time probably more for fine detail. Now there’s all kinds of apps. What is amazing about this one is that I don’t have to take a semester or 2 to figure out how to use it. It’s straight forward. Photos are photos illustrations are illustrations and art is art. If you know the difference this is a great tool. Thank you Photo Sketch.

Figured I would try PhotoSketch in a crunch for designs needed for celebrations.

So far so good. I really don’t like giving reviews when I first start to use an app because you don’t get the full effect until you try something and PhotoSketch doesn’t work. Have only been using PhotoSketch for less than 30 minutes.

Easy to use and what a dramatic effect for photo’s especially for someone who cannot draw this is unbelievable way to get a sketch drawn of your favorite photo’s ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I know people pay hundreds of dollars to get a sketch of a photo and have it matted and framed with a small 4x6 of the photo in the bottom and now anyone can make this a DYI project to make gifts or just frame your precious memories in a whole new way !

Great application but app no longer works with the latest update (Ver. 4.7). I should note that it did work until I purchased it to remove ads. App opens but won’t respond to any touch controls. Essentially, it froze. Tried restarting iPad (10.5” iPad Pro) and then deleted and re-installed app with no success. I’m confident this will be fixed with the next update.
Awarded 5 stars because it was really a fine application when it worked.

Thought I should write a review, since I LOVE PhotoSketch and saw some complaints.
I use the colored sketches to make Graphic Novels of our vacations and excursions with our Autistic son. He loves being a Superhero in his own comic book!! There is no trouble saving if you know how to click the square with the upward arrow. You do have to look for additional options not provided on the first screen. And you do have the option to disable the notifications, like any app. In fact, you have to request the notifications on your first use to get them

I normally do not do app reviews, but this one is worth the effort, in my opinion. I like PhotoSketch and the fact that it is more like a hand drawn picture than any I have found. There is plenty of "free" to use which allows you to get to know the program and learn to use it without having to upgrade. The only problem I have thus far is that when I scroll through the 22 styles to decide which one I want to use, I have to scroll back through all 22 to get back to number one and that is time consuming. There probably is a way to get back quicker, but I haven't figured it out yet.

PhotoSketch worked fine, even with the highly annoying banner ads continuously popping up in the free version. As soon as I decided to get rid of the ads and purchase the full version it no longer worked. I can no longer upload any photos from my phone or take any photos with it. Clearly a flaw that they have not bothered to fix since I saw the same complaint from over a year ago. Don’t give them any of your money!
