Not good at all

I took free subscription of two months, i found this not greatly helpful, it doesn’t have good collection of Magazines. Also the Magazine uploaded are images of the Hard copy. Which doesn’t fit properly in the mobile screen. Such a pain reading and viewing images.
I canceled the Subscription still I was charged $9.99, upon contacting customer care they told they will not provide the refund even I have not used their service from past two months. If they can’t money with proper content, they making money by cheating people. I had such experiences with other companies, they all provided refund upon checking I was not using their services. When I asked refund they offered me one month Extra subscription, isn’t that the same? #CheatingCompany

Below Updated after Developer Response:
Goodwill would have been Giving the refund, I do not consider giving extra month is useful me, as I don’t read from your App. If you had goodwill, you should have refunded, I saw all over the Internet I see same complaints about this app. I think you should start earning Customers not loosing them..

Disappointed resubscription

Expecting to see high quality magazines for whopping $9.99 per month deal. Very disappointed with what is available on Readly. Still there is no magazine quality improvement especially if you are a US Subscriber and looking for US issues. Very cheap and low grade magazines all over. Such as National Geographic, National Geographic History etc. are not part of the library. there are same name magazines that are published for different countries [US,UK, AUS etc) and it is not clear how these are distinguished on opening page of the this app. Very confusing. Some of your favorite magazines may exist on their library but in different language, not English. News highlights are very poor. I like the page visual of the available magazines, it feels like I am really reading a hard copy magazine. That’s a plus. Unfortunately I will quit soon and go back to Apple News+, which is not my first choice either :(

It’s great for variety, but not that useful

If you’re a voracious reader of magazines, this is a great app and offers you a great bargains vs. newsstand or subscriptions.

However once you get past the initial ooh’s and ah’s and you want to actually use this information, you’ll quickly find it’s not that useful.

You cannot capture any of the information in an article for research or reference elsewhere.

You cannot select text. Not even for copy/pasting into a web browser or a journaling app.

You can’t search for any text in the magazine.

You can’t copy send snippets to OneNote or Evernote.

You cannot even click in URLs within the magazines to open them. When you consider the lack of a search feature, it means you’re in your own if you need to find something you remember reading. There’s really i no wit to get back to it.

It’s really like you’re looking at a picture of the magazine, rather than an electronic version of the magazine.

If you want to read something, or a lot of different “somethings”, it really is a great deal, but as soon as you want to do anything with the information, you’ll find that it’s more frustrating than helpful and will leave you longing for basic modern functionality such as Select, Copy, and Open Link.

Love Readly, but not latest update

Can’t understand these low reviews about lack of content. You have to be kidding me, please tell me where you can find more magazine content. this app provides quality magazines at a great price. When I think about how much I used to pay for all my magazines at Smiths, It was ridiculous, this is amazing value.

My reason for knocking my review down to 4 stars is purely down to latest update, which I do not like at all. It was perfect the way it was and I was able to see a lot more magazines on my iPad Pro. Please give us an option to make tiles smaller to get more on the screen. I tried for ages to do this, but couldn’t find a way.

At last!

I, over the years, have sat in many a Doctor’s waiting rooms, reading the outdated magazines. Needing something to occupy my mind is the only reason I'd torture myself in this manner.

Now thanks to this application I can finally ignore the stack of magazines strewn about the waiting area. I generally prefer to read an article while waiting than carry a novel around with me to read. There's the possibility that I'd lose/forget my book. More than that risk driving my reading preference is the length of time available. I don't want to get involved with a long read when I cannot truly enjoy it.

Now with this application, I can choose from my favorite magazines. I read an article or two and can simply pick up where I left off if I want to.

The available magazines to choose from is amazing. You can find magazines from all genre. Favorite those you like and you have access to current and past issues.

The best reason to have this application is you no longer have to contend with stacks and stacks of your favorite magazines.

Love the app, with minor “issues”

Issues pun unintended. 😀

I love this app, as I’m an avid magazine reader. Also saves me a ton on UK music and game mags I read monthly. That said, they seemed to have changed the default layout showing the current issue and all back issues. I read back issues, and having to scroll to the end of the most recent issue to access the list adds an unnecessary layer (alternate is to search mags, which undermines favoriting). I also wish this app would drop mags that are no longer updated. Even these are small and subjective critiques!

Returning customer

I absolutely love this magazine subscription. I used a 3 month for the price of 1 and although I do not read every single day due to my 10 hr a day job it’s nice to know that when I want to read I have a huge choice of magazines and hours ahead to read. I do not really care that most of the magazines are from over seas in fact I love it plus where else will you receive a huge magazine subscription like this for what you would pay for one magazine in the supermarket. I’m not a spokes person but honestly I back it up any day.

Double billing customers!!

I am so disappointed in this app! Absolutely loved Readly , and had every intention of keeping it.. I have had it for a year. For the past four months they started billing me twice on the same card each month. I have emailed numerous times sending screenshots of my bank statements showing the double billing error. I didn’t want to cancel, only wanted them to stop double billing me and to refund me the amount over billed. They sent me back a very short email saying they had only charged me once a month and have a nice day. I re-sent the screenshots and emailed three more times and have never received another reply. I’m left to conclude this company is intentionally scamming its customers or why would I be ignored? If you are considering getting Readly DO NOT!

Can't be beat, PERIOD!

I have tried all of the magazine subscription readers and this one is the finest out there. It has an amazing selection of magazines, it allows you to have different profiles for other readers in your family (shared iPad), and if you want to read but don't have your ipad you can log into your account on a web browser on your computer! You can download magazines to read when your traveling and not sure about having data. Finally someone gets what I've been looking for!!

Someone Finally Got This Right

After trying several buffet-style digital magazine services over the past few years, I had just about given up on anyone pulling it off.

Zinio - terrible interface, priced per magazine.
Texture - few titles of interest.
Magzter - scam.

Finally, this app comes along and hits a home run - great titles, great interface, great price!

this app's offerings are mostly high-quality British mags, superior in every way to today's American mags, which are 90% ads and 10% unsubstantive filler "content".

this app's interface is very intuitive, but most importantly, it gets out of the way and lets you enjoy the magazines... but I do recommend the largest tablet you can get - I used my this app subscription as an excuse to spring for a new iPad Pro 12.9", and the entire experience is glorious.

Great up but with issues

Overall I like Readly , but wished it had more American magazines. Now I read mostly British magazines. I also have couple issues. One is if I want to read downloaded magazines in airplane mode. Readly just doesn’t open, stating that I need to be online. That totally unsat! What’s the purpose of downloading magazines when one cannot read them! Two; the old versions of the Readly used to show that the magazine is already downloaded just by looking at the magazine cover. In the new version, one has to select the magazine. I hope they fix both issues, then it would be a great app. Thanks

Some annoyances with latest update

First, your latest update turned off auto downloads of favorite magazines. So now as I’m reenabling that on about 90 magazines, it’s redownloading the latest issue of all my favorites even though I’ve already read and deleted them. A bit of a pain.

Second, I don’t need another app with useless notifications. In this case, “Yay...” and then listing recently downloaded magazines.

I'm a subscriber because I generally like your app and use it. I don’t need “excitement” prompts cluttering notifications. Please keep notifications to important things and leave users to generate their own excitement.

Great app, some bugs though

Love Readly, but I seem to be having some trouble with user profiles. First, looks like all users had their gender switched. Second, if I tap any profile name, it says "Sorry! Something went wrong. Please try again. Thanks". Well, I restarted and tried again, but no luck.

I was able to get out of this by going to settings > general > show user profiles on startup. After selecting a different profile I could use the left side menu profile selector again.

To me this seems like a bug: downloads made from one user profile show up in the downloads section of another user profile. That's inconvenient when sharing an iPad with two users. Bug or feature?

Finally: I miss the colored icons in the user profiles, it just looked more cheerful. :)

International transaction fee

They charged me an extra $0.30 for an international transaction fee, on top of the $9.99.
The purchase was made in the US with an American card. I contacted my bank and PayPal, both of them said this app is the issue and has to resolve it.
this app can’t figure out what issue is and has been wasting my time for two weeks.
They are not willing to process a refund for the subscription but they are willing to lose a customer. Good luck!

Response to the developer:
Doesn’t matter how many screenshots I sent you, you guys still have the courage to say it isn’t your fault when it clearly is. I contacted PayPal myself and my bank, I have screenshots of both responses stating this app is, again, the issue. On top of that you can’t give a refund for the month I had issues with, but can offer 1 free month. Apparently I wasn’t clear enough; I will not be using your app anymore. You lost a customer (and many others, looking at all the reviews).

No leftist woke views pushed on you like Apple News App

this app is a huge improvement over the biased Apple News app. They force Election 2020 and Social Justice headings at the top of the news feed. They are filled with leftist woke garbage. Not the slightest bit balanced. And you can’t delete them. Apple will not let you control Readly that you are paying for.

Thank you this app for just letting us read magazines in peace.

Terrible app, terrible customer service

I signed up for a free trial in January, used it for 10 minutes, cancelled my subscription, and deleted Readly . To my surprise 2 months later I get charged a $10 subscription fee, now with any other app I have had a subscription issue with they refund it, no issue. But this app responded saying essentially “sorry, we know you don’t use our app any more, but we are keeping your money, and you still have access for a month.” So be extremely careful when deciding to give them any money, or just avoid a bad app and money taken and find an alternative.

Saves me money and easy to use

Has many magazines I read monthly that would cost me a small fortune if I purchased individually. That alone is worth it, yet Readly is also very easy to use.

Tried a trial of Apple News Plus and reading magazines there is a nightmare. Came back to this app.

Though it skews towards the UK, they have great music mags so it works out just fine.

Quit working

I have to revise my rating and comment about the this app app not working.
Readly quit working for me and I sent emails to this app US. I got a response from them asking for details. They informed me they were working on the problem. The recent update resolved my problem and Readly is now working.
I was very pleased with their response

The Graveyard of Dead Magazines

It's a nice app, and if the magazines you're interested in are included, that's great. Sadly, the magazine industry has been decimated by online content. So you'll find issues of magazines that stopped publishing years ago. Some of that content is still timely, but if you're looking for things like reviews of computers or photo equipment, you may be disappointed. Newspapers are mostly British tabloids.

Great Magazine APP - Large selection!

I got Readly for FREE for a year because I have AT&T as my cell phone provider. It’s a lot easier to read on my iPad Air 2 than it is on my iPhone 7 (not the PLUS). It has a great selection of magazines, but there are a lot more UK than US, which is why I gave the four stars instead of five. It’s GREAT that they have Rolling Stone!! It would be even better if they had PEOPLE!!!!

Readly

Previously I was subscribed to this app, its really a very good application and has a lot of interesting magazines. How can I subscribe now using my apple account?!? I have written this complain previously but uptodate I can’t get my subscription even with my Facebook account...why this app Team?!? If I say that I don’t have an account when I fill my information this app answers that I have had one. I’m sure that one day I’ll be reading your magz!!!

Best app ever.

this app is amazing.
I used to spend $10 per magazine at Walmart. It was a treat to get one. because I couldn’t justify spending that much for a magazine all the time. I had other things to buy. I mostly read firearm magazines. But they have Almost everything even for kids.

Now I can read as many as I want and even all the back issues. Everything is HD, I can bookmark pages, mark favorite issues and take screen shots of products I want to purchase or articles to share
Best thing is I no longer have stacks of magazines at home taking up room everywhere.

Love Readly. Highly recommend it.

It Never crashed and no bugs yet.

Worth every moment!

Without a doubt, and finally, an app for readers covering enough genres to keep us happily reading to fulfillment.
I love the ability to keep current with magazine articles, while at the same time having the opportunity to read through previously cataloged issues.

Connectivity and Customer Service

I like Readly in general, but there are some problems. When you get a new iPad, your account will not follow you. I have contacted customer service 5 times with no response. Very frustrating.

By

I used to like the way I was billed

I liked being billed monthly, and automatically. I got this service for my mom. She is older, and doesn't understand how to pay for the service. I take care of it for her. I liked it when I didn't have to remember to log on and pay. I wish there was a setting for auto pay like my other magazine service. How hard would it be to bring that back?

Best mag reader out there

I have been a subscriber for years to two rival magazine readers. Then I tried this app, amazing software, elegant in design and use added to an extensive list of titles from around the world with titles the competition cannot match. Never going back.

By

Worthy replacement for Texture

If you miss Texture and the look/feel of “real” magazines it provided, this app is close to an ideal replacement. While it doesn’t offer Condé Nast or former Time, Inc. titles (with the exception of Fortune), the selection of magazines is definitely wide enough to justify a subscription.

By

This app does not work and I get charged anyway

Readly gets offered, we sign up for it and we get charged. Then it tells us it’s not available in my country but it keeps charging us for it. Nice scam.

By

Latest update was a mess...

But was fixed fast. It’s really good to see that developer is following comments from reviews.
Great app again, definitely worth subscribing.

I feel this is awesome...

The way you flip the page and you see the back of the previous page. Excellent user design.
