Fewer options than Apple’s Music app

I am desperately looking for an app that allows me to quickly and easily and safely move through my very large and diverse (10,000+) music library via CarPlay. I have yet to find an app capable of doing this, and picking Stezza was a wild stab, based on a Cult of Mac review, but I’m afraid I wasted my $2.99.

To boot Stezza does not have all of the sorting/filing the options that Apple‘s built-in music player app does (as basic as they are in that app). Further, there are some. On-intuitive UI features, e.g., navigating to library options.
It’s not clear whom Stezza is geared toward, but I know that I am a bit of an rarity who does not do streaming and has all his (uncompressed) music on his phone. :-). What I’d really like is something like a Pandora for my own library!

Simplicity to Love

Like Apple products, this app shines in its simplicity. Large album artwork and controls that are perfect for driving, exercising etc. The artwork can take a minute to load initially but once it's in the players cache it's like magic. One trick is to go back one song for a song that doesn't load artwork. I can't wait for future updates. Keep up the great work Team this app!

Great for children with special needs!

We have been using this on iPods with our son has autism, and it is a gem for him! Very simple interface, with big buttons, and album art prominently featured, allow him to independently find and play his favorite music, while preventing unfettered access to all of Apple Music. It has been an absolutely godsend!

Great for car

Perfect for using in the car.

My goto player

As Apple Music has become less and less user friendly, I’ve been thru severl music apps and this has become my primary listening app. Simple. Intuitive. Has what I need and have had few gliches, none serious.

Disappointing

I can't believe I paid money for this. The only screen that shows up is the one showing the currently playing song and on it I can only move on to another random song. I can't see all my albums like the picture shown on Stezza 's purchase page. There is a set of 4 tiles squares.... maybe this is supposed to take me to my albums???? It just keeps changing the theme. Too many bugs to be used at all.

Very flawed app

To be honest I really had high hopes for Stezza. After seeing the beautiful interface i thought I’d be hooked. However, when trying to cycle through my music library Stezza was extremely laggy regardless of a songs file type. Often times, Stezza would freeze completely even when only trying to move on to the next track. Definitely would not recommend until this is improved

Don’t waste money and time.

This is one of the worst useless nonsense app. Sound output quality is super mediocre. Don’t even bother to waste time. Better download and install Flacbox that’s gem and awesome app. Everything else is just drop in dustbin quality.

Yea. System is garbage that’s why we are looking for some really excellent player out here and yours is not good enough when it comes to sound output. Yea I wish I could give -1 star.

Easy \ simple \ consistent

Remembers what was playing last and at what point which is more than I can say for other music players.

Can’t create or edit playlist

I downloaded Stezza with the hopes of being able to edit playlists. I can’t find a way to create a playlist, or add or delete tracks from my playlist. I don’t want to delete Stezza and waste my $3. Does anyone know how to edit the playlists?

You can’t select folders to use as libraries

I was under the impression that this was a media player that allowed the user to play music from files on the device, but it is not. I’d like my money back

Great music player for iOS

this app seems pretty good. I like the interface better than CarTunes and iTunes (my two other go-to music players). It's very simple and is logical to figure out. I only have a couple of complaints: There are no time markers showing time elapsed and time remaining -- this would be useful. Also, the buttons taking up space on screen to change the Theme and to show the Menu are redundant. There is no need to frequently change the theme, and the Menu can be accessed by swiping from the left edge. If these issues are addressed in a future update I think it could be a 5-star app.

Not working

Not working. I can see my music. It just won’t play. No troubleshooting FAQ found. So far... a complete bust of an app.

Impossible to use

So creative I couldn’t figure out how to use it. At all.

Trash

Stezza doesn’t work unless you have Apple Music installed.

Love It: Want More!

Hello. I love this app. It's an awesome app. I paid for it and love it 100%. Now, I was hoping you could make some
Improvements or addons. I, a full supporter of this app, would ask for a search and or something to search Stezza for quick references to my music by finding a certain song or ect. I would also ask for other features such as the pop up letter tiles. You know when you press the button and a tile of letters pop up for you to choose the letter that the title of the song begins with. It would be awesome and well appreciated. I would also ask that you add something fun like a mini-metro camera or browser or news feed feature. The news feed feature would be really good. What I mean by news feed feature is like a option to a metro styled news feed for you Facebook or twitter or whatever (Facebook is the best). Please consider these options for this app. I really love the design and the way the animations work. It really cool. It would be cooler if you added such features to this app or add any feature you feel would make it better. Ow, and also, it would be really appreciate if we, the buyers, customers, and supporters of this app could change the black background to white or any other color. It would be awesome. Thanks for what you have done and will continue to do. Thank you so much!

The reviews are real.

Usually when an app has so many glowing reviews I've learned to be wary. Especially if their app has very little to no updates done. So many developers "pad" their positive reviews. In the last 2 yrs I've downloaded many music apps only to be disappointed. Either overly complicated or layout was not driving "friendly." Stezza is the best of both worlds. UI is smooth & simple while also ease of use while driving. For those of us who suffer with "short arm syndrome," will truly appreciate the layout. I can safely operate while driving and don't need to use my reading glasses when wanting to skip songs, etc. At $2.99 Stezza is a steal. The price point is less than other apps I've tried and they don't even come close to the quality of this one. If charged based on quality & ease of use, I would have happily paid more. Also if you check out the version history it is apparent the developer does care about customers by the changes they have made based on consumer suggestions alone. They also give credit to the customer. I've never seen that before. I am no longer in search of a great music player. this app cannot be topped. This is most assuredly a 5 star app.

Nearly perfect music app!

Well, I hate Apple's default app.
When I go to Artists i can only see 4 at a time due to that stupid-nonsense-general artwork. With this app I can see 9 of them.
I've got artist with 30 albums for example - Apple app rolls out all the albums, so when I want to listen to the last one I have to scroll through like 300 songs to get there. Horrible. this app is much better without all the artwork.
Navigation and overall UI is brilliant. Love it!

Only few things to improve:

There is no need for two buttons in the main interface: Menu (3 dots) and Theme changer. Menu can be accessed by sliding to the right and theme can be changed within the menu.

So suddenly you have two buttons that you can assign new functions to.

One could be "Star" symbol - here I could rate the song.
Second could be "Queue" - which now is assigned to album art tap.

Instead of displaying queue by tapping on the album art it could take me to the main music navigation - Artists, Songs, Playlists etc.

And by clicking on the song playing right now it should take me to the song info - song name, album name, time played, total time, album art etc. - here you could take great advantage of your beautiful tile design.

Thanks to developers for their hard work!

So nice ...

... to see the results of developers really thinking through UI and usability issues. So many developers kind of winging it when it comes to how their apps work on the human side. Not this one. Perfect for car, gym, bike or just every day listening. It has replaced the iOS music app in my dock. One important point: As far as I can tell, this isn't a music player per se, only an alternate interface with the iOS Music player. (Double-click the bottom and scroll the task switcher to the left; it still shows Music as the active player. With a couple if minor exceptions - I don't think you can create a playlist from within Stezza , for example - I'm not sure it makes much difference.)

Need app to play music on my dash iphone dock

I was looking for a player to replace the iTunes app without crashing my Jeep. Apple's own player was difficult to navigate while driving. I have an iPhone doc on my car and this should be easier. At first I thought it was terrible but it took a few minutes to give me access to my music. I could only play one song at a time. I dont know if I finally hit the write button or it takes awhile to get apple's music but now working as expected.
