Blue Ridge Pkwy Travel Planner Reviews

It calls itself a travel planner, and that seems appropriate. It lets you read up about many of the sites along the parkway before you go, or during your trip. But the map is lackluster. Also, BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner is missing one key feature: the parkway itself. BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner displays the parkway as just another street on the map, and BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner treats it no differently from other map features. That is, BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner doesn’t know your milepost, which direction you are traveling, and if you are off the parkway it doesn’t know the nearest point, and provides no way of obtaining directions. In short, BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner provides little more than what you can find in a browser online.

I got BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner and paid extra for the maps, but could not get some of the most important information that I needed without going to the website or using my own map app. Things like CLOSURES (most of the parkway was closed the day we arrived) and how to navigate to the access points from current location should be on BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner . Ended up using my own stuff more and never really needed BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner . Even the closures were wrong on the website, so we thought we could do stuff that ended up being closed when we got there. I was disappointed in the closures, but I was also very disappointed in BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner .

Love BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner for me it would be perfect if directions to parkway access points would include starting points from near by interstates and major state highways As is you need to find the nearest town to the access point and then figure out how to get there from where ever you are. Or am I missing something. Always a possibility. Thanks for all that has been done

Very useful for finding attractions along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Gives directions and details about each point of interest. One suggestion to make even better...add a few pictures of each attraction other than the cover pic. I often visit places based upon how picturesque it is. Thanks

Great asset, can select something and see the location. Hope I can find a way to put more on the map.

I was traveling on the Blue Ridge and wanted to find the best exit to get onto I-81. Impossible to find that information. I was inundated with ads for stores and restaurants. Trying get past these ads to find the map information was a huge time waster. When I could get just the map showing, there was minimal information and no relevant Search bar. The map lacked all labeling you would expect to find on a map. There has to be a better map that shows the Blue Ridge Parkway AND it’s exits and other highways and roads.

Very helpful! Great resource. However I wish there was a way to see full hiking trail maps. You can click on each trail but all that shows up is a preview of the map, no way to zoom in or see the whole thing. Pretty frustrating bug since i bought the offline maps mostly to know where I was while hikingZ

On a recent trip between mile posts 260 and 230 I simultaneously used BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner and the book, Guide to the Blue Ridge Parkway by Logue, Logue and Blouin. If it were not for the book I would have missed several sites, including short walks. The book also went into more detail on the sites that both spoke of. BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner is incomplete therefore I cannot trust it to provide all of the information I need while on the parkway.

One issue - the Favorites screen is missing a scroll bar, so you can only see as much as fits on one screen. It would also be nice to be able to see all favorites marked on the map, like you can do with lodging.

I spent hours marking favorites and planning our trip. Went back the next day and all my favorites were gone. Did it a second time in case it was user error on my part. Exact same thing happened again. Waste of time. Had to make my own notes on paper.

Seriously? How hard is it to make a few simple features work and not quit BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner completely? This has been going on for months and seems to be common theme in all Oh Ranger apps. Weird black hole buttons that kill app or restart phone?? Great concept, crappy tech and seemingly no updates to fix?

Great app! So much good information. There is a lot of thought and time put into BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner.

Has a lot of useful info however developer seems to have lost interest in keeping current and/or expanding on what could be a great app.
If you are planning a trip may be worth a look, but won't be of any use otherwise.

Would definitely be handy for certain features like favoriting, except for that feature doesn’t work for a lot of campgrounds and some roadside attractions. Definitely great for research purposes, but I wouldn’t stake a well planned trip on it unfortunately wholly unreliable.

I am a Blue Ridge Pkwy lover and every time I ride over it I literally what to stop at every overlook. However, I also love waterfalls and as soon as I downloaded BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner I looked into waterfalls and I only saw three listed but I know there are plenty more. I like it but I love to see more info.

Focused on promoting hotels and restaurants, gives little info about navigating the parkway

I got BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner to try to find directions from where I live to various destinations. I found lots of I retesting destinations with various mile points but was never able to get directions to say which MP I was starting at. I found BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner quite unhelpful for planning a trip

Very helpful and love the new App very easy to use and navigate!!!

I came across this map on accident and I’m so glad I found it. I was planning to buy a paper map for my trip, however BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner has an offline downloadable map so I will be able to use BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner map even without WiFi! Very convenient for those who aren’t familiar with the area or unsure where certain hiking trails may be located.

Could be a little more interactive. Mileposts on the road would be nice.

Not user friendly. Can’t plan a route using BlueRidgePkwyTravelPlanner. Favorite button doesn’t work on attractions.

I would love to see my position and mile markers on the map. It’s really confusing with no reference points.

I was looking for a guide to the parkway by mile. It has overviews of different sections but no up to date information. It refers you to websites for various information, about road closures, campgrounds, etc. No maps. Inferior to the print guides to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
