More location-specific forecasting

You get weather specific to a more precise area. WU might give you a general forecast of rain and thunderstorms, which might be true somewhere in your forecast area, yet miss the mark for where you wish to sail. That’s weather in Florida! SailFlow forecast the thunderstorms about 3-4 hours later for my vicinity of interest and was on the money. So SailFlow is more helpful when you need a window of just 1-2 hours. If SailFlow said thunderstorms or too-strong wind conditions were imminent for my vicinity/time of interest, I wouldn’t bother to try sailing that day.

Even this new sailor gets it

So, I have exactly a 2 day adult beginner sail class under my belt. I now need to schedule a check off ride but with winds above 5mph and below 16 mph. I find SailFlow and in completely accurate, understandable graphics it tells me current and forecasted windspeeds exactly where I need to test. The big day is tomorrow! I know this because I used SailFlow and reserved the slot. I will use it in the future to plan my sailing days. Great job app programmers!

Great and useful, accurate app.

SailFlow is great! It gives nice, accurate information by using local buoys and other sources.
The only issue I see is that SailFlow takes a bit to get used too, as the overlay is just a bit confusing.
I would also love to see apple watch support. Often when I’m sailing or coaching I want to be able to see the information SailFlow displays without needing to take my phone out on the water or out of a boat compartment. It would be nice to have an apple watch app that just shows wind speeds from buoy info, and maybe the wind maps and such.

Testing the Forecasts for Accuracy; Graphics C-

SailFlow came highly recommended as I have Ben using another well known app for years with amazing easy to understand radar, wind flow patterns, real Earth Satellite imaging and more. The problem with SailFlow that has, bar none, outstanding graphics is that forecasting accuracy lacks as they do not use local weather stations.

Just wondering why someone hasn’t come along that will give us the best of all features.
As it is, I will probably use the one feature if SailFlow, and its most important: forecasting. I’ll make frequent comparisons to SailFlow the amazing and intuitive graphics.

Issues with wind?

I work out on a remote island and the this app app is the go-to for me and my colleagues with regards to planning around the wind. It is by far the most accurate site we’ve found and it’s saved us time and money countless times. The attribute of being able to look ahead in 3 hour increments over the course of several days is also great for planning transportation. Thank you!!

SailFlow is great

What I like best about this app is that I can look out over the next ten days and make plans to go boating based on the predicted wind, sun, and temperatures. Things change but it still helps a lot

Also if the wind isn’t right on a given day I can just stay home and not waste time going out on the water only to find out the conditions are not to my liking

Free version okay, don’t pay for upgrade!

Clunky and buggy but still has a wide range of stations and data beyond just wind speeds. However, none of the cool sounding features promised with the paid subscription actually work.

Support is responsive and polite but unable to fix the issues. After the standard wipe and reinstall dance they’ve got nothing. Not clear what the money is for, but it doesn’t really get you anything the free version doesn’t already have.

Edit: Free and broken is better than paying and broken but I don’t see how the dev response here has anything to do with the problems...

Very helpful app

SailFlow makes sailing so much more enjoyable. Knowing when the optimal sailing conditions will be you can make informed decisions on whether it not to sail and when. As we all have experienced, heading out only to find little to no wind on a given day is frustrating. SailFlow eliminates that for this sailor as I know when to head to the boat and when to stay home.

Great app

They update enough to keep app working well. SailFlow gives precise and unique info for guys like me that race sailboats where wind, waves and weather in general matter. Seeing all history, current and forecast weather is important for both safety and more so to be able to anticipate changes that give me an edge in competition! Thanks guys and gals.

Perfect

SailFlow is the best I feel it has everything I need. The developers were nice enough to make it so low adds were the norm on SailFlow . Also it is not completely paywalled so most of the stuff you need is there all in all the best weather app for sailing and in general ever.

Help plan

Without the help of this app we would have to go back to using noaa. We feel very comfortable with this forecast. We have been able to leave the dock knowing that we can beat the weather, we used to think long and hard in the past. You have made our travels much more comfortable.

Best for me

Great graphics, simple and straight forward. Great wind graphics and easy visual forecast. Love the small visual forecast out for several days. You can see with a glance what the winds will be for your local sailing location. I use it every time I go sailing and always before to plan the right day on the water.

Accurate “Real Time” Weather Conditions

Found SailFlow while watching a regatta in our area…just took a peek and have been hooked since! We’re live aboard cruisers spending the summer in the Northeast. It works really well for us in planning our trips!

Useful point forecasts/observations for wind, etc

Neat app. The pay version is probably cooler. It’s among 3-4 sources I compare before choosing where to launch the I-14. I appreciate the hourly, point forecasts for wind. I also enjoy the perspective and ease of zooming in and out, and navigating (heh) around the map. Seems as accurate as anything so far.

Benefits of Sailnet

One comprehensive source of weather data essential to a sailing/boating enthusiast. Nothing is missing, considering the variances expected in weather forecasting. The data is not always accurate, but that is weather forecasting for you.

Great app, but several stations are no longer on the app

I love SailFlow. As a sailing instructor in Oak Harbor, I regularly use SailFlow to get a detailed forecast of the harbor and use it to plan the lessons for the day. However, the stations near the Oak Harbor Yacht Club and the harbor are no longer on SailFlow . SailFlow is still great, but I might need to find another forecasting app to plan my lessons with

Love the free app.!

I like SailFlow in order to check the weather forecast and wind conditions and forecast for the area in which I’ll be sailing. It’s user friendly and, among the best features in the free version, to me, is the live wind feature.

Won't open in my iOS 9

First, after not using it for 6 months, it disappeared as an app from my phone. When I downloaded it from the cloud again, it only opens for 2 seconds, then disappears, reverting to the home screen. This happens each time I try to open it even after shutting the phone down and restarting. Deleted it and redownloaded-same thing.
I don't want iOS 10 or 11 because I've got some old apps. It says it's supposed to work with 9 or higher.

Rookie

Been using SailFlow randomly to verify what other apps say about weather conditions. Also use it for posting wind meter readings.
Now I’m using the radar more than others. Im not sure why but it’s functional when other apps are not.

Top app for Sailing, gents

Their Free data is good, but this app’s Exclusive Pro data from their own private network of hundreds of incredibly well-located weather stations is worth 10X more per year than the cost of Pro membership. Go all in and get PRO, or I’ll smoke you on the race course ;)

Love this FREE app

I use SailFlow all the time with no problems. We used it to travel the ICW Atlantic this fall and it was our guide to our travel plans each day. Only reason I am giving it 4 stars is that on my iPhone (iPhone 6s) it displays the map and locations making it easy to use. When my husband loads SailFlow on his iPhone 8 we cannot get the map to appear, even though we compared all our settings to ensure we were the same. He has the latest iOS loaded so not sure if it is an issue with the iPhone 8?
Would highly recommend this easy to use app and hope to get it working on the iPhone 8 with a Street / Wind map like it does on my iPhone 6s.

SailFlow VS Climate Change

I rely heavily on SF in my sailing decision making. Unfortunately, however, it is becoming less reliable. I look to it for trends and timing mostly because direction and strength are seldom close especially when significant changes are anticipated. Climate change is steadily altering our weather patterns and the timing and frequency of this app’s updates need to be reconsidered. Thanks for your many years of service.

Essential for sailors

Simply the best weather for boating app available. Really good at forecasting conditions for very specific locations. Worth paying a bit extra for the “plus”version, as it is slightly but consistently more accurate than the free forecast.

Rely on this app

I use SailFlow all the time but in the last month it hasn’t been showing the radar anymore. It also crashes randomly. I love SailFlow and rely on it and would love to see it fixed!

SailFlow

Love SailFlow. Used it every day on a trip to the Bahamas. Quick and easy to see the prevailing wind flow, speeds and patterns. There may be a short cut, but the only draw back is switching from day to day by scrolling through each time frame.

SailFlow

Recently began to use this app after using Underground Weather for a couple of years. Very user friendly and gives updated wind and tide information wherever you are sailing which is very useful. I will stay with this app.
