Whitelines was perfect, I bought new notebooks because Ibwas obsessed with them. The new update screwed everything, it is almost impossible to scan now. It creates massive pdfs that take too much time to send. Also, interface lags all the time. My time scanning docs went from 15 seconds to 5 minutes each. Can i get the last version back please??

First, I have to caveat that this review is about Whitelines only. The this app paper is an absolute joy, hands down my favorite paper to use. But about Whitelines ...
1. I use the Engineering Pad paper. Anything I write outside of the grid is not captured by Whitelines when you scan it. It's just truncated. This is silly; Whitelines sees the registration marks, so it should be able to capture the page boundaries, not just the limitations of the margins.
2. Whatever GUI kit Whitelines uses, it's horrible. It looks and feels absolutely nothing like an iOS app, at all. Illogical icons, icon placement, lack of options, ... it makes no sense.
3. The paper has preprinted boxes for email, Dropbox, and Evernote. But I can't find any way to configure them to do anything. At all.
4. If you click on "organize...", and don't know what you're doing, you can easily split apart multi page PDF scans, and lose the renamed filename (which is one of the few organization pieces of information you were able to provide).
Great paper. Useless app. The company ought to work with or partner with Rocketbook. I know it's a different philosophy, but at least Rocketbook's app is functional, and able to configure destinations and organize scans semi-intelligently.

Sometimes, when I try to scan the pages it won’t read the 4 little we coded around the page. I’ll be still and have good lighting, nothing will work. I just want Whitelines to have a feature where you manually can take a picture and crop the edges do you don’t rely on the codes all the time— it only works half of the time. If it weren’t for this, I would give the notebook and scanner 5 stars.

I used to love this and use it all the time but now instead of scanning the notebook all Whitelines does it take a picture, which is pretty useless :/. I tried every suggestion mentioned in the reviews and online but nothing helps.

I have been using Whitelines for my school work during 2020 and the last update that rolled out about 2 days ago seems to have completely messed Whitelines up for me. Insanely hard to scan my paper, this app paper, properly and I can no longer email myself a pdf of my work or notes. Without being able to do this anymore, I don’t really see a point in using Whitelines any longer. Two stars since it used to be a great app but unfortunately no longer works properly.

Whitelines was going to get a worse rating, but I finally found the completely unintuitive way to make your stack into a multi page pdf. Therefore, it’s not completely worthless.
Whitelines doesn’t capture my highlights well, which is pretty annoying given how popular mildliners are with a lot of people who use this paper. I tried both pink and gray highlights and they mostly don’t show up.
In drawings I have to be very careful about colors because it frequently will get rid of them and ruin the sketchnote.
In summary? Whitelines saves me absolutely no time or effort, so I might as well keep making regular photos into PDFs myself.

Firstly, I love this app notebooks. They’re absolutely great for taking notes: good quality, nice paper. My issue is simply with the new update to Whitelines .
I was using my notebooks for my hw: scanning it, then uploading directly to google classroom which made things incredibly easy.
However the new update is has screwed up the scanning capabilities of Whitelines. It takes an incredibly long time to recognize my nb page (when before it took mere seconds), and even when it does so, it doesn’t recognize the edges of the paper correctly, and scans it as a photo instead of the cleaned up, white background pages it had before. I can get it to scan like the old way, only after several attempts, and a very long time holding my phone absolutely still, parallel to the page, even though before this update it had no trouble identifying the pager margins correctly and scanning my notes beautifully. The old scanning features were fine!

You have to use the paper from this app, or else it won't take a picture. You CANNOT use regular paper, like the people who gave Whitelines a negative review did!
Whitelines works great and scans my notes perfectly. The only downside (and why Whitelines gets docked a star) is that the paper you have to buy is pretty expensive comparitively.

While I wish there were more features, Whitelines does it's job well. It's so cool to have notes from a notebook available online, and easy to share with others too. Definitely a keeper!

Whitelines is very intuitive and really helps keep things organized. As a student in college, I lose notes in my backpack all the time - Whitelines gives me a place to scan and basically create digital notebooks.

I was happy to see this app paper in the bookstore at the University of Minnesota. I was attending a conference and happened to see it on the shelf. I purchased a few and have faithfully used them. It makes my writing look clean and the faint lines do not distract. My pages look beautiful and professional on Whitelines .

I use this app for my physics notes and now I can take them anywhere and know they will always be where i left them, in Whitelines !
No more losing bits of paper when I take my notes with me.
Highly recommend

Great! Unfortunately, I didn’t know you shouldn’t cover up the squares, so I had already covered one up with the page number. Luckily, Whitelines will capture any two squares, so after a little fiddling around, I was able to capture my pages.

It’s so great especially for those who love taking notes. I wish white lines would come out to where you can just buy the individual paper instead of in notebooks though!

I love the way Whitelines digitally stores your notes after taking a picture of them. Whitelines gives your notes some touch ups by blurring out the white lines and straightening your words.

this app takes writing to a whole new level. Not only does it let you write amazing notes but with Whitelines it lets you carry those notes with you on your phone by simply capturing a picture. I recently purchased 12 notebooks for summer school! Highly recommend to anyone who likes being creative with their notes! 📝 👍

I always hated the way regular notebook paper looks. The blue and red lines just never looked right to me. So when I found this app I fell in love with the product. Whitelines really helps me save my notes and study for school. Before I would just save my notebook and journals and it took up a lot of space but with Whitelines I can throw away the clutter and still keep the notes handy.

i love Whitelines so much. it makes it so much easier to stay organized, especially if you lead a busy life like i do! Whitelines itself is super user-friendly and easy to use, and i’ve never had any problems with bugs or the software not functioning correctly. the this app brand paper is beautifully made, really high-quality stuff. i love this product and i hope to use it more and more!

this app products are so ingenious!! This is perfect for anyone who wants to move toward digital note keeping but still prefers to hand write and illustrate their notes. As an avid class note taking doodler I am beyond impressed with the subdued color of the paper, the less distracting white lines, the quality of the notebooks, and the ease of scanning, uploading and saving my notes. I would absolutely recommend these products and app to anyone regardless of age, education or profession. ☺️👍🏾👍🏾

This notebook brand is absolutely my go to when I copy and revise my notes. The soft lines help me focus when I’m studying and the ability to have my notes accessible on my phone is so incredibly helpful. Whitelines is super easy to use and the scans are great quality. I love being able to study anytime and send my notes to classmates who need help! I highly recommend this app to anyone looking for a notebook with good quality and a user friendly app to scan their notes!!

Love the notebooks and this apps ability to digitize notes. Three points to improve:
1) Direct/Auto sync to OneNote is a critical addition required. Each page should be exported as a new page in a OneNote Notebook.
2) Stacking feature should export as multi-page pdf. (Currently exports as multiple single page pdf documents)
3) Notebook purchasing options are limited in US, hoping that improves.

Currently in the process of trying to make little cards and what not and so far it’s been treating me well! I’m new to the whole technological aspect with drawing so going from physical drawing to having a digital copy makes the transition really easy and enjoyable. :)
Hello! Despite following the instructions about how to scan pages, the app doesn't scan pages automatically. I must do a manual shot every time. Have I overlooked something? Regards Kjell Martinsen

Whitelines App will capture your note automatically when it detects the full page (including all four corner codes), with the logo at the bottom of the page.
The Whitelines App will capture your notes automatically when it detects all four corner codes on your Whitelines Paper and adjust the image to make it useful to you.

This update of the app is a step in our efforts to create a digital/analog interface for note-taking that will help you grow, learn the things you want to know, pass exams, and collaborate creatively.

Or, if you use other than Whitelines Paper tap the button to scan the note manually.
Before scanning, choose between “Auto” or “Manual” to tell Whitelines App to remove the background automatically or to edit the image yourself.
When using Whitelines Paper the app removes the background, so all that remains is your writing or drawing over a white background.
