Great cameras and app!

I purchased 5 of these cameras back in 2015 when I open my dog business. I wasn’t expecting a high quality experience, I just needed it to check that the dogs were behaving and not causing any destruction in their rooms. Basically, to make sure everybody was safe, breathing and the rooms were still in one piece. They were inexpensive enough, which is what I needed when I first built my business and my plan was to then upgrade to higher quality cameras with a hard drive for storage when a successful business was established. These cameras have seen thousands of dogs in the past 5 years and I have no intention of upgrading them to a different brand. I’ve watched the dogs sleeping, listened to them snoring with the audio and given them a firm “NO” through the microphone if they were doing something they shouldn’t have been. 2 of the cameras no longer pan and tilt due to me dropping them on the cement floor, but they still do everything else I need them to, and no issues with connectivity or viewing on my devices. I have not checked into the cloud storage but that’s what I’m going to be doing today and why I finally decided to write a review after all this times since I’m seeing a lot of negative reviews when I came to MIPC Store to update MIPC .

Sound and Bluetooth Devices

I have had problems with the sound working properly and getting Bluetooth devices to connect since MIPC was last updated. I primarily use the camera as a baby monitor and in order for the sound to work I have to close out the camera I am viewing, go back to the main screen, select the camera I want to view again and try turning the sound back on (after multiple attempts of pushing the sound button) and hope that it works that time. I have also tried connecting two different Bluetooth devices and it doesn’t connect on either one of them. I did not have a problem with the sound or connecting Bluetooth devices prior to the last update.

I love these cameras, have been using them for 2.5 years now and just purchased my third camera. Every now and then in the past MIPC would crash but other than that I haven’t had any problems. I thought one of the cameras was going out because it wouldn’t record anymore. However, it was actually the SD card that needed to be replaced. The picture is very clear and the cameras are extremely affordable!

Please fix the sound, Bluetooth connection problem and that awfully massive “iCloud storage ad and I will be a happy customer. I will change my review from a 1 to a 5 at that time. Please don’t suggest that I update my app or cameras as they are both updated to the most recent versions. Thanks!

Problem since new update

Unfortunately this great camera is being totally messed up by a very poorly made app. The apps functions aren’t even the issue either as when MIPC is actually working, the function of MIPC work just fine for me and have for about 4 years now. However where my issue lies is with the constant reliability of it actually logging me in and turning on properly. It’s really just been a problem more so in this last year and I know for a face it is not my network but I’m fact the apps server itself. After the most recent update I have had the most issues down to the point where all 3 of my cameras are useless at the moment and I use them for my business as I am a dog trainer and use them for sanctioned separation practice. I’ve used these cameras for years to assist both puppies and adult dogs to get over separation anxiety to live happier more comfortable lives. Unfortunately I am unable to continue using these since just yesterday where I wasn’t having issues all month and week. Literally after updating yesterday, I’ve regretted it because I now currently can’t use any of my 3 cameras. Please fix your server and create a new update to correct ASAP! Otherwise I will need to change to a new company and I will leave my review at 1 *
If bugs are fixed, I will absolutely update my review to something positive.

I Agree

This product and app are great when they work, and the video quality is a dream for the price! I’ve had the same problems reported by other users including frequent crashing and needing reboot. We also use as a baby monitor, and our place is small and baby’s room is right next to ours so we’re comfortable relaying in other resources to support our monitoring of him... like our own eyes and ears! We’ve also noticed it’s more sensitive to our cat and the mobile in baby’s room than it is to baby actually moving around at night. I

Most recently, there has been a diagnostic run almost every time I open MIPC , with an accompanying message saying this could take up to 2 minutes and don’t do anything else on your phone until it completes... 😲 I’m not clear in what the diagnostic is actually doing, as the language in the prompts isn’t clear or intuitive (maybe better translation is needed), and if it’s every once in a while, that’s fine, but when it’s not optional and I just want to look at my baby, it’s pretty frustrating. I’ve seen the developer response to contact support, but I just want to point out that ain’t nobody got time for a run-around game with app support on one of a hundred apps. The feedback is pretty clear in this case.

Camera is awesome - App is to be desired

We use our cameras as baby monitors, they have all the functions you could need or want and they work pretty great especially for the price. My issue is with MIPC , it is always saying the cameras are not connected, or it freezes... it seems to get worse as time goes on. We use them for 3 different bedrooms with children ages 3yo, 2yo, 1yo and there is always an issue. It is extremely frustrating. I am now needing to look into an entirely different system because they are so unreliable. I have used this for 3 years and had intermittent issues but now, within the last week nothing seems to work to correct whatever issue is occurring. MIPC always shuts down and I won’t know during the night and have no eyes or ears on the kids rooms because MIPC has shut down. Then I can’t open MIPC at all so I need to manually go upstairs to check the kids. In the beginning I had nothing but good things to say about the system but now it has become so unreliable I am just so disappointed. I don’t want to get a new system but at this point I don’t see a choice. Love the fact I have access to multiple cameras, I love the features of the cameras, but MIPC uggggggghhhhh driving me insane.

Good camera wish the app was better

We struggled to get MIPC connected to our wifi initially but my husband managed to successfully get it all worked out eventually. Now we have MIPC on three different devices to monitor our baby’s room but I’ve noticed that notifications aren’t reliable. Sometimes they come in all at once, back to back and sometimes I will go retrieve my baby from her crib and have zero notifications for going into the room and talking to her and picking her up. I have resorted to using my 6+ year old Samsung monitor - it never fails to notify me when she cries or even whimpers. Our wifi is excellent at home, so I don’t understand why the camera will just black out on the monitoring end from time to time. When this happens I have to close out MIPC and re open it to connect to the camera again. There is a delay in the image and the sound never works on our devices. I have adjusted the setting for this but it doesn’t work. I get that this is a very affordable camera and I appreciate that, but it is nearly useless for baby monitoring purposes since the notifications are unreliable and the camera will randomly not connect from time to time until you exit and re enter MIPC . Wish MIPC would get updated and work better.

Ok when it’s working

With the new update you completely did away with the ability to select all/delete all. It took me 15 minutes to delete two days worth of recordings doing it one at a time which is completely unnecessary. Instead of changing things that don’t need fixing please concentrate on the fact that I can’t turn down motion completely or even turn recording off when it’s not needed and then be able to easily turn it back on and the recording resume. Instead I have to do a factory reset each and every time. The inability to no longer be able to select all videos and delete all at once or delete as many as I want all at once and the issues with having to do a factory reset between uses every single time will most likely have me purchasing something different and more user friendly in the near future.

Perfect camera but need better sound notification for iphone

The camera has everything you’d want in a security camera.
Good quality images, motion sensor, speakers, loud alarm, recording on low fee cloud server etc.
It’s ALMOST perfect — it’s just missing one thing. When the motion sensor detects motion and their app sends a notification to my phone to alert me, all I can hear is the same soft buzz and notification sound that other app notifications have. If they could simply add a feature where you can change that alert tone to a louder alarm sound, I’d be completely satisfied. In case something happens at night while I’m sleeping, I’d need a much louder alert sound than they have now!
If they changed that one feature, I could completely get rid of my old security system, which costs far more to maintain. Other than that, I am completely satisfied with the product, and could see myself using it as a long term security solution.

Potentially great app

Maybe MIPC was not good before but as of now it pretty much does the job. I was hesitant in the beginning but it works! Video quality is great! Yes, there are some features needs to be improved in MIPC , but all basic features work perfectly! Just make sure to read the instructions! Especially when it comes importing the videos from the card! You can't just insert the card and read the content. You need to have their software. Through that software you import. One thing must be improved and that is "motion detection". Not sure if that's software or hardware issue, but it has some glitches. Please keep improving MIPC ! I already recommended to my friends.

Also, I'm bit concerned about privacy issues. Please improve the security of your server. There's no word about how secure is your server. Anyone with the password can login and watch! How secure is your service? Do you use 128 or 256 or any other encryption?

doesn’t record consistently

Update: Note i have motion and sound detection on! So it human detection. We’ve had several instances where people were at the front door for extended periods of time or heard very loud bang at our door and yet the camera did not record anything at the time or even after. It seems to record randomly rather than with movement or sound, regardless of settings. It’s pointless for us to pay for the cloud when it never records the vital things we need! However if you just want to be able to look in at what’s going on and see things live, it’s great. we have had no problems viewing live with MIPC.
For example i just went outside. Stood there for quite awhile moving around. Prepared a wet food dish for the cat. Called the cat. Came nsode. Looked out window a minute later and cat was outside eating. I wanted to see where she came from (her bed on the porch, for example? or from around the corner). There is no video. the last video stopped 10 minutes before I had gone outside. It did not record me hanging out right in front of the camera nor the cat arriving! What a waste! Total fail for security.

Sound is acting weird on otherwise great camera

I have had this camera for over a year and I love it, it was a gift from someone and I have it mounted in my living room.

Recently I noticed a problem with the volume/sound. When I click my camera to view, and click on the “speaker” icon, sometimes the sound will come on very softly, but will quickly fade. Other times, no sound can be heard at all until I go into the “settings” and adjust the sound volumes for the microphone and the camera up to level “100”. Then when I go back to the live stream, the volume will be VERY loud, so I’ll have to turn it down, but when I do, instead of the camera following my clicking the volume button down 2 times, the camera’s volume will continue to go down until it is silent once again.

I checked the Firmware version, and every time I check, it says I have the most up-to-date version, so I don’t know what to do in order to get the volume working correctly again. I love this camera and I can’t find this exact version online anymore. Please help!

Otherwise this is a great camera overall. I have an SD card in it so I get to save about 24 hour’s worth of footage at a time. The clarity is awesome, even at night, and I love that I can talk to my kids through it when I’m not home.

All has been well lately, no complaints besides sometimes losing connection...

2018:
MIPC/camera has good days and bad days.
Most recent update to MIPC has constantly caused crashes. The home screen shows a "still shot" from all 4 cameras from 2 days ago. Won't pull up records. Have to restart to view live constantly. Why'd you mess things up!?
Now on to the most recent camera update... JUNK, why mess up something good? Now the cameras drop wifi constantly and just to get it back working I've got to pull down the cameras to access the reset button on the bottom which is where the brackets connect to hold the camera. Pain in the.... on top of that there is no promise it will connect to wifi even after deleting the camera and starting all over again. I had no issues from my cameras for months until this most recent sabotaged update. I've been a customer over 2 years. Just bought camera #5 two weeks ago and I can't put it where it needs to go cause it keeps losing wifi and not getting it back or won't even let me see the live stream within MIPC .
PLEASE FIX, then leave it alone!
Stop trying to fix what's not broken.
App and cameras were fine until most recent update.

New version of app is awful

We’ve had this brand of camera for years, even bought a new one when our first one stopped working. We’ve had issues with the camera app over time that we’ve been able to tolerate, however this new version with the ad is awful!! The cloud storage ad takes up half the screen on my phone. Even if you click the arrow to hide the ad you still only see the video on the top half of the phone screeen. You used to be able to double tap on the video to get it to zoom quickly, but now you have to click the double arrow icon which then turns the video landscape and hides the add. Point is...the new version has wasted so much space for the cloud ad. The size of the ad takes away more than half of my screen and only makes me so angry that I’m considering buying another brand of camera. You are going to loose customers over the format of the ad on the screen. Consider changing it back to how it was before and consider a small banner add at the bottom of the screen.

CAUTION!! DO NOT USE FOR SAFETY MONITORING!

I purchased these cameras to provide monitoring for my elderly father. I was under the impression these cameras would provide proper alerts and the ability to closely monitor him when I was not able to see him. NOT THE CASE!!!! The camera freezes on several occasions throughout the days! I only receive random alerts. I did an update and from that evening to the next morning, ALL THREE OF THE CAMERAS ARE OFFLINE AND THE SCREENS ARE ALL BLACK! I have reset, uninstalled, reinstalled, and repeated this process several times! Still no solution. I have contacted the company and no response to date. HERE’S MY BIGGEST ISSUE.. MY FATHER FELL AND LAID ON THE FLOOR FOR 20 MINUTES BEFORE HE WAS DISCOVERED AND RECEIVED MEDICAL AID!!! THE CAMERA WAS FROZEN AND NEVER ALERTED OR PICKED UP HIS FALL!!! My suggestion for this Company and MIPC is to indicate this product is not reliable, therefore to not use as a safety monitoring system. GOOD LUCK TRYING TO GET SUPPORT TO REPLY! In reading the other posts, folks who are using this system for safety monitoring should do so with EXTREME CAUTION!! This issue is a huge lawsuit waiting to happen! CAUTION! CAUTION! CAUTION!

Great cameras. Mia customer service

Love these cameras. Amazing quality images and love that I can use them from anywhere. My only complaint is that my password to login to the account itself (not the cameras) is saying it’s incorrect and I can’t figure out how to reset it (no options) and there are no customer service sections to figure out where to go for help with this. Would be 5 star if that was fixed because I really do love it otherwise.

Update: oct 2021- love this when it works but the server has been down for over a day, no where to contact customer service and camera are literally completely useless without a way to access them. Was going to buy another but considering another brand as a backup because when problems arise you literally cannot locate anyone to help.

You can’t delete clips in bulk >:(

The software is functional but also extremely basic when it comes to deleting recordings, you have to manually select each recording and select delete, so if you have the motion detection on and your cat walks by the camera a 100 times, you have to select each of the 100 clips to delete!! You can’t select all or a group to erase in bulk. I have a million clips saved that I can’t just erase without reformatting or using my pc and I don’t even know if the pc software will allow that because I don’t have time for all of that.

Also, my Camera goes to sleep on its own? I have it on my fireplace mantel with motion detection on and I often find it just looking at the wall behind it ?!? therefore no longer tracking anything. Anywhere I moved it it would end up “parking” at a ceiling or other place where there was no activity which makes it unreliable for security.

Decent when it works

When is the key word in my review title. We have used this camera and app for two years now. Haven’t switch because we don’t have a ton of money, and it was a gift.
The sound quality is really bad when talking into the phone to be heard in the camera. It doesn’t sound like the person at all.
The camera is unreliable. You never know if it is going to be working or not. You could have the best internet connection that is strong and fast but it may or may not still work. You can try unplugging it, but again there is know way of knowing if that is going to work at all.
Oh, if you want to rotate the camera be careful. It way or may not work but when it does suddenly work it will move really fast before stalling. It gives you an opportunity to get a close view of the wall as you struggle to get a view of your baby.

Great for 2 years

I have had this camera for 2 years. Got it for a nanny cam and then it changed to a security camera and a nanny cam. However, the last couple of weeks, MIPC keeps kicking me out. So I can not view this in the live format. It’s SOOOO aggravating!!! I’ve tried it on an old phone and it works just fine on it. Unfortunately, I’m not interested in carrying 2 phones with me all the time.... and that phone is old and doesn’t have service anymore! So I can’t even do that if I wanted too!!
The camera it’s self is still very good tho!! I love the night view and the brilliant day view! It’s zoom is very helpful in watching up close when the baby is sleeping!!
Gave 4 stars because of MIPC issues. Not due to the camera itself.

Auto black and white, even in bright room

I always have issues with this camera. From it flipping upside down on the ceiling without changing it, no color, massive delay. We have 2 other brands and I’ve never had a problem. This cam was fine until all of a sudden the auto setting feature records on dark black and white, no infrared light working so you can’t see ANYTHING and if you switch to day the color comes on but you sure won’t see that at night in a dark room. Doesn’t matter light, no light, inside or outside… auto is b/w. Ever since last update 2 weeks ago… it has sucked majorly. I’m so disappointed. I have cams for our safety and medical issues… I couldn’t retrieve the data to show the doctor an episode… it’s all black and white and the infrared doesn’t work. iPhone 11, latest version. And I pay a monthly fee to store this crap footage?

Needs improvement

Even with new update you still CANNOT delete in bulk. All the controls are backwards. So if you hang it the way it’s was intended to be hung. All control directions are opposite. So if you activate follow motion. It goes in the opposite direction of the person walking in front of the camera then gets stuck in that position. The main screen only shows last thumbnail seen. Which is dumb because you would think you could see all of your cameras in real time. But nope! Gotta click on it to view each one individually. That should be fixed. Face detection option disappeared with new update! You would think after all these years something as simple as common functions would be implemented and/or fixed. But seems like the developers went cheap on hiring professional programmers and quality control for developing MIPC .

OK Camera

I’m currently using the camera as a baby monitor, and I can say the picture quality is amazing! I also love that a simple swipe moves the lens to where you want it to go... The night vision is very high quality as well! Here’s for the not so good things.. I was excited to have 2 way audio, but I’m unable to get it to work.. The pop up on the screen says to hold the button down, but it does not work and my daughter cannot hear me. I also leave it on all night streaming live, but when I wake up in the mornings sometimes it’s been frozen for quite a while or the screen is just black with an error message. Also, as another poster mentioned it would be nice if MIPC sound could run in the background so that you can go to other apps and still be able to hear the live stream of the monitor..

TERRIBLE APP!

I never write a review for apps but this one tops the cake. The camera is great but ” MIPC” is absolutely terrible. It always crashes, takes forever to load, the audio always turns off in its own, the two-way audio is trash. It was working just okay and then after being forced to upgrade to the latest version the live camera feed will not show and keeps saying that the network is unavailable. I’ve disconnect reconnect restarted reboot and whatever. My WiFi is working and says connected. NOTHING seems to fix the issue. It’s like the gave an update for a hardware that doesn’t support the new update. I’ve only had the camera for two months! Now it was a waste of money and a waste of time. Stay away from anything that uses MIPC. THIS IS B.S.! I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED!!

Really like the app

I use the camera and app for a baby monitor. It works great. I love the night vision option and that it will automatically transition depending on the lighting. MIPC itself is a little difficult to use. Not hard to figure out, but it doesn’t flow nicely and isn’t very visually appealing. The functionality is great. I do think videos and pictures should be saved to the phone or tablet rather than a folder within MIPC .
There are some spelling issues within MIPC . When taking a photo, the word “Snapshotting” only has 1 T at the moment. It needs 2. (Sorry, I have been an editor for many years!)
I think a picture-in-picture option would be beneficial so users can access other apps on their phones or tablets but still see camera.

So incredibly frustrating

The camera is great but MIPC that you HAVE to use with it drives me crazy. It crashes all the time, and most of the settings do not work properly. For example, I have it set to alarm me and record when there is “an unusual amount of movement” near the placement of the camera. Well, I guess a car driving by my house is an unusual amount of movement, as I am getting alerts 10-15 times per minute. However, when someone came right onto my porch to deliver a package, I didn’t get any notification. I paid for icloud storage so it would record when there is a motion alert, and yet it doesn’t record. I am constantly getting a notification that there is an update, but when I click, no update. Do yourself a favor and buy a different camera that uses different software.

Good when it works

This is a great camera and app when it works. MIPC crashes constantly - closing down randomly or freezing. The camera pops offline at least once a day requiring a reboot. Unfortunately, the reboot makes a loud noise at the camera - not great when your baby is sleeping. We've used the camera on 6 phones and two separate wifi setups with the same issues.

We bought an audio monitor as the camera app is completely unreliable. It is a good secondary option to look in to see what the baby is doing and nice to be able to pull it up from anywhere. For the price, the video is great, particularly the night vision. Just wish the programming was stable.

Good Camera, Bad App

Got this camera for our dogs. It replaced the YI Home camera that I had before.
Video quality is good but really miss the camera motion tracking on the Yi Home. This one you need to move manually.
My biggest complaint is MIPC . Very poorly written and even the grammar is poor. My number one complaint is the motion detection. Very counter intuitive. It won’t work unless you set a schedule and turn it on. You can’t just turn it on and have it work. Need to set a time period. Also after I was having issues I turned off the motion detection. But even after that my phone was blowing up with alerts even after it was turned off. Very annoying. Nothing was recording either. Deleted camera/app and trying again. If I still have problems, I’ll be retuning it. Don’t like the fact that support is via email or overseas phone calls too.

Lots of issues

I recently purchase two of these cameras to watch over my dogs. I was able to properly add one camera to MIPC but now it won’t let me add the second one and gives me a “your mobile phone must be connected to WiFi” which it is... additionally I have had issue where the camera I have added randomly goes offline and when I tried to restart it it actually completely froze my phone and couldn’t do anything. If y’all were to actually take the time to make MIPC better it would probably be the best camera for its price.

Update: I somehow managed to get the camera added but now both of my cameras are having issues staying online. There is no issue with my WiFi yet they both end up offline at one point or the other. And reconfiguring them are a real pain. Really need to work on MIPC .

Not worth the trouble

I wish I could give a good rating but I have owned the cameras and used MIPC for 2+ years. The older version constantly kept crashing and I would have a hard time even getting the cameras to load. Sometimes I would sit there for 20 minutes waiting for it to load with no success. And the newer version is just as bad, if not worse. When signing in and picking which camera to look at the sound doesn’t work loud enough so I have to close it and reopen it. And the I tap the sound to turn it on but it takes almost 10 tries to get it to turn on. In the middle of the night I wake up and the camera has turned off and i have to run a diagnostic on it just to get it to work for about 30 minutes and right back to the same problem.
Honestly, I have had more trouble with it than it’s worth. I think I will be buying another brand.

Highly recommended

Lots of times people forget to compliment when something actually works well. I’m guilty of that now, hence this review! :) We’ve had MIPC for 2 years this month and have never once had an issue with it. We use it intermittently to check on our dogs and home when we’re away. Views are clear, and all our needs are covered (visibility of the image, day / night adjustments, sound — which isn’t the best, but that’s not what this camera is for — get an Echo Show or something if that’s what you’re looking for). Thank you to the developers for continually updating MIPC ; without it, our camera would be useless.

Everything worked fine with my camera up until a week or so ago with the new upgrade it Records duplicate videos everything is duplicated when I wake up in the morning I got more videos then I need. It’s a whole different operation and it’s confusion

This Camera was purchased a few yrs ago to monitor my son in his bedroom but we never installed it until now. Once we installed and downloaded the software a picture popped up on the screen of a person kitchen. At first we thought it was like a prop screen but as we moved it we saw the whole house. I started screaming through the speaker hoping someone responds but nothing. I waited about 15 mins. checked again and saw a woman walking around her kitchen!. I explained to the lady what was going on and we both disconnected it IMMEDIATELY! How can this have happened? So if I was watching her house who was watching mine? This is a NO for me and I'm mad bc we can't even return this!! BE CAREFUL, YOU NEVER KNOW WHO ELSE IS WATCHING! And if the lady who I spoke to through the camera is reading this, I apologize this has happened but just know I'm not a creep and I have morals! You DO NOT have to worry about me reinstalling it!!!

I did an update from the app when it was requested BUT THE CAMERAS ARE OFFLINE AND THE SCREENS ARE ALL BLACK! I have reset, uninstalled, reinstalled, and repeated this process several times! Still no solution. I have contacted the company and no response to date.

Ugh this is such a horrible app. It hasn't been working all day and since you can't speak to a person who knows when it will work again. Please fix your app problems!!!!!

The app won't let me log in at all. All day I've been trying and it claims there's an issue with my network. No customer support to reach out to. The website for app support won't even load. It's such a horrible app.

We bought the security cameras from Amazon. I don't know if the problem we are having is the app or equipment. If someone would get with me. When we review the camera it's not recording right. I can't send feedback.

Ever since the last update of MIPC, there have been problems. I can no longer view a full day of recording when using the app on my PC - both from sd card and cloud box. I can only view a portion of the day - usually clips end between 11 am - 1pm. I can still see the full day of recordings from the phone app. However, it will not allow me to download the full video clip, just a couple of minutes. Useless when I have to save specific clips.

I just added a new camera, can I use my existing cloud storage account or do I need to buy a storage account for each camera? How can I tie my new camera to existing storage account? Thanks!

I love the camera, works great and the images are clear and vibrant even at night. Sound works great and no issues what so ever. I fully recommend the camera for home defense, baby monitoring, dog camera. Not sure what others are experiencing as i have had not one issue. Had the camera so far for one month.

This camera works fine i just have an abusive stalking baby's dad who is highly skilled with technology and im scared that he can hack my cameras and watch everything we do in our home and it scares me that other people may be able to do the same please help me relieve this fear and tell me this can not be done cause everywhere on the internet it says any camera has a live feed can be hacked and it scares me but i need a real time camera to watch my baby while i do things around the house and in my garden

I bought this so we could keep an eye on my elderly father in his last days. His wife wanted to look in on him when care givers were in the home etc. First off, the two way sound has never worked. Just loud scratching, squealing noises unless you press record and even then it doesnt two way hardly at all. No separation for account users. If im home with dad and I set the motion alarm so I can check on him it also rings his wifes phone who is at work! She has to shut off notifications every time, and its frustr would not use this cam or app program if I was needing security. This one always drops vvoff line, the sound doesnt work. The profiles mesh . ,
