Great app with lots of little annoyances

RockMyRun is exactly what I need to increase my running pace, since I am all about running in sync with the beat. I love that you can adjust the BPM to the pace you want, and there is a wide range of music genres to suit almost every taste (especially 80s!!). It was worth it for me pay for the subscription, for how often I use it. BUT - the last app update removed the song names/artists from the playlist and now all you can see is a handful of “featured artists.” Not until you are actually listening to a particular song do you get to see the artist and song title. Why?!?!? This bugs me to no end. I want to know what I am signing up for when I hit play before a long run and I don’t want to have to change stations mid-run because I’m not into it. Relatedly, it would be great if you could jump into a playlist mid-way rather than always start at the beginning. I’ll never hear the songs at the end of some of the longer playlists and I get tired of some of the ones at the beginning. Finally, I continue to see that the artist/title gets out of sync mid-way through many if not all of the stations, telling me that I am listening to a song we haven’t gotten to yet or that was two tracks ago. These are minor annoyances but their improvement would greatly improve my experience!

Removed Song Names and Artists, Limited Skips Disappointed

I’m a group fitness instructor and have used RockMyRun for the past year and a half. So when preparing for class I would look at a new playlist and I would be able to see song names and artists. But now when looking for a good playlist you cannot see the song names just a HANDFUL of artists. Are you kidding me? How can you gauge anything with just a playlist title??? On top of that you are limited to 6 skips per hour. So if you start a playlist and you hit bad songs (not knowing they are going to be in there because you don’t knows what you get even though you are PAYING for a subscription) may the odds be in your favor it’s only a couple with in the hour. Also if you get to the end of a playlist it used to play other songs. I don’t know if it was the next playlist in my list or similar songs or whatever but now it’s a long awkward silence so I highly recommend not to use this for group classes until that gets fixed. RockMyRun WAS good for a while. If RockMyRun was free I would understand but not worth the money now.

Favorite app for getting my groove on

Updating my review: this app is once again my favorite app. I use it almost every day to get movement into my morning. New playlists are always being added, and the variety is enjoyable. The best part is that I can easily select the tempo of my workout by using the beats per minute listed on the front of the playlist.

The previous rating had to do with an odd problem where the playlists were getting mixed up, especially the ones in my Favorites list. The good news is, after several months, the development team corrected the issue and it has been back to awesome ever since!

-previous rating-

I am *extremely* disappointed in the most recent update for iPhone. The reason I started paying for my subscription was because the paid version gave me a full list of artist plus title, in order, for every playlist. Several months back, paying members lost titles and only saw artists; this most recent update now limits the list of artists to 5, even on playlists in my Favorites to which I listen regularly. This is very, very disappointing- I used to regularly recommend RockMyRun to everyone, especially in my Weight Watchers group, but can’t recommend it anymore unless you return to the full title and artists list.

Used to love - not anymore

Like other users have said, a lot has changed and RockMyRun is no longer the great app it used to be. My favorite playlists are gone, there don’t seem to be new lists, it doesn’t show the song list for the playlists so you can’t decide if it’ll be good for you or not (and an entire hour of running to blah music is a sucky way to have to figure it out), it now limits the ability to skip songs that aren’t good for your pace/workout/taste, and the “offline mode” is gone which was super important for me (I run in a lot of areas without cell reception, and have a limited data plan). I even verified offline mode with them before buying my lifetime membership! It was that important to me. I really hope they refund my lifetime membership or figure out how to bring offline mode back... we’ll see.

Great selection of music styles, easy functionality

I’ve been using RockMyRun for about 3 years, and I love it. (See below for my wish list, though.) It’s super-easy to pick a running mix based on artist, genre or beats per minute (or a combination of these). The mixes are well arranged, and it’s a blast to run at 165 BPM to great music. I have a couple minor requests for the developers: bring back the song titles in the lists to help me pick a mix; artist name is not enough. And could we get some deeper tracks on the classic rock mixes? I was around when this music came out, and I’m tired of the greatest hits that have been on heavy FM rotation for 40+ years. Thanks for a great running app, though. It has gotten me in good shape!

Best Workout Music - and my friends agree

I’ve been working out for years - off and on. When I’m on, I used to make custom mixes with specific BPM and intervals to help me get through workouts. I’m not normally a rah rah person - but I’ve got to give RMR kudos. This is a great app.

Finally finally finally I have found an app that is better than doing it myself. The mixes are very well done, and the ability to filter on BPM, music type, genre, and workout rally does help you find just the right mix. I did the free subscription and then I paid for the service, because you know what, it’s great. And if something is great and you want to say so, you should say so with your wallet. I’ve voted. It was money very well spent (though honestly, it was pretty inexpensive).

Oh, and p.s., I’ve recommended this to a couple of friends, and they all agree it is the best music app they’ve found.

Not worth it

This has got to be one of the most disappointing and frustrating apps I’ve ever used. There’s always been small issues and bugs, which I never really minded because I really enjoyed the playlists and being able to adjust the tempo. However, this latest update has ruined RockMyRun for me. At first I just had issues with the station I selected not playing the correct set of songs, which was incredibly annoying to figure out. But today I opened RockMyRun to find that almost all of my favorite stations gone! Those playlists I loved so much, and that kept me coming back, just disappeared. They don’t appear in search and I can’t find them anywhere. There was no notice, no acknowledgement that they were deleting stations, they were just gone. Now, I don’t know if I’ll keep using RockMyRun , I’ve just had it with all of these issues. I would definitely recommend looking for another app rather than put up with this.

Great... when it works

I love RockMyRun in theory and overall it has a decent user interface. However, I have yet to get through a workout without RockMyRun failing- music cuts out all the time but it shows it as playing, it’s slow to respond and freezes, etc. Very frustrating to be well into a run and have the music suddenly cut out and lose my rhythm because I’m fussing with RockMyRun . It’s not a network or headphone issue either- this happens to me in multiple locations, different headphones, both on and off WiFi networks. Really wish I hadn’t accidentally purchased the upgrade account (I picked up my phone and apparently my finger hit the pop up ad) because it’s actually worse now than before on the free version, but I can’t figure out how to get a refund.

Motivating!

I love to work out with RockMyRun! The music is so motivating and helps me look forward to my workouts. I love that there is an option where you can adjust the tempo as well to help with my running cadence.
I really want to upgrade to that next level, it’s not too expensive and I believe it would be worth the cost, however, as of right now there’s not an option of only using RockMyRun with a fitness watch. I bought my Apple Watch so that I could be free of my phone when I run. I really wish there was a way to use RockMyRun solely on my watch. I’d gladly pay for that option then. It is a great workout app!

Update Needed!

I love RockMyRun! The music is amazing! However, THERE NEEDS TO BE AN UPDATE! Over half the time when I pick one is my favorite stations it plays the wrong music. This is extremely frustrating! I had no problems for the first few months after buying the membership and I’ve tried everything I can think of to fix this problem. Please provide a patch or update to address this problem. There is no easy way to contact the developers so this was the only way I could communicate this problem. Please bring the awesomeness of RockMyRun back!

Visual commercials ruined this app

Basically the new visual commercials ruined RockMyRun for me. I used to love RockMyRun and use it every single time I ran. Good song mixes that keep me motivated. The ads were kind of annoying but it was fine bc I wasn’t paying for premium. But now these visual ads will play legitimately every 5 seconds. If I push any button on the screen (play, pause, back literally anything) the ad will play. Even if it played legit one second ago. And almost every time the ad plays it causes RockMyRun to freeze so I have to exit RockMyRun to get back to the music. So it’s virtually pointless to use if you’re running unless you want to constantly be on your phone closing and opening RockMyRun constantly while attempting to run.

Gone way down hill

I have relied on RockMyRun for teaching group fitness classes, but now that skips are limited and a full artist/song playlist is not available to view, I can no longer satisfactorily screen the playlists. The playlist length has also disappeared.
Additionally, I’ve noticed that RockMyRun frequently calls up the wrong playlists. For example, I have a few “go-to” favorites that I use as default now that I can’t screen for new playlists. I’m familiar enough with the favorites to know the tracks they start with, so it’s obvious when RockMyRun plays something other than what I’m expecting.
In addition to paying for RockMyRun, I have been promoting it to other trainers and my fitness club members, but I can no longer recommend Rock My Run until these bugs are fixed and features return.

Infested

RockMyRun apparently has a bug issue. I love the music when it is working like it is supposed to but I’ve had issues with it playing the wrong playlists and not listing the songs on the playlist. It freezes when running some but comes back within 30 seconds. It’s aggravating but a year subscription doesn’t cost very much. Ashley has corrected my issues quickly when I emailed support but I probably will not renew if the bugs continue for the next 10 months of my year subscription.

Enjoyed the free trial but...

Decided to spring for the paid membership and this week RockMyRun started acting up. None of the songs on the playlist match what’s actually playing. Some of the playlists I had saved for go to workouts have different songs and when I try to search for a new mix, I can’t always see the track list just a summary screen so not sure if this has been a bit of a bait and switch now that I’m paying for the service. When I check developer support in RockMyRun Store it takes me to a general page and I don’t see anywhere in the actual app to reach out to anyone about these issues which looking back I should have checked for first.

Please read before purchasing anything from rockmyrun

Don’t purchase anything from RockMyRun as the integrity of the people behind it is horrible. I purchased a lifetime access “rockstar” pass in Canada for over a hundred dollars and as of the the first of the new year it stopped working. I’ve emailed support many times asking what’s going on and I was told that RockMyRun only works in the United States which wasn’t the case when I purchased. I was never notified that this was going to take place (they didn’t notify anyone from what I can tell) and they refuse to discuss getting me a refund for the pass I purchased. I’m pretty sure “lifetime” access means as long as RockMyRun is in existence but I guess what that word means to them is different to what it means to me. Please be very wary of giving RockMyRun any of your money.

I use Rock My Run every week with my soccer group

This is the perfect app if you are looking to play music during any type of workout. I have tried many different music apps only to find that I often have to skip songs once I select a radio station or playlist. With Rock My Run I have never felt the need to skip songs because the music for my preferred genres is QUALITY. People from my soccer group are always asking what app I’m using and what playlist I’m playing because they notice the music is good.

Used to be 5 stars...

This used to be my go to app for working out. But since the last update it removed the option to see song titles. Why?? I want to know what songs are in a playlist before starting my workout. As another reviewer had stated this causes a lot of searching for other stations while trying to work out which is really annoying.

My other issue is the search function. It simply does not work. When I search for anything I get no results. My home page also does not update with the latest stations. Under the “latest” section is the same stations from three years ago.

I have gone back to fit radio, at least until I can see song names again.

Better than your own music

I never review apps but RockMyRun is so awesome that I have to. The playlists they’ve made are so good, and they are like mashups, one running into another. Not in a bad way, but more like the awesome way they are in clubs (at least back when I used to go!) Every kind of music. Real artists, not the fake singers like other places have. Plus you can set the music to gps or your heart rate. All for $5 a month. Very, very worth it!!!!

Worst running experience ever

I have been a runner for over 8 years. I sincerely enjoy running with a cadence to keep me going. I have used RockMyRun PaceDJ for a long time. It uses your own music library and therefore when internet options are slow or weak you still never miss a beat. Rock My Run requires internet connection to play and so there are places that I run that I loose connection and I get no beat at all. That makes for the WORST running experience ever! Worse yet, since updating my phone to the iPhone XR RockMyRun won’t work at all. Even when I’m connected to WiFi it says there is no internet connection. I paid for a years subscription and I’d like my money back or make it actually work!!

Disappointed with update

I’ve used RockMyRun off and on for yearssss. I took a hiatus from running after an injury and just started again. I, of course, downloaded RockMyRun as it has been my go to in the past. I was deeply disappointed with all the changes. I am not able to download my playlists which is a must for me living where one bar of service is what you get only if you leave your phone in the window. They took away the entire listing of songs and now there’s just a list of some artists you might hear if you make it through that play list. I can’t even comment on anything else because I wasn’t able to listen to any thing.

A gamechanger for those who struggle to keep momentum!

I’ve never been much of a runner, but I’ve been challenging myself to go farther and harder; RockMyRun has been instrumental (no pun intended) in reaching my goals!
I began with the free trial, and fell completely in love. The mashups are fantastic, the selection of music is incredibly varied and everything is expertly mixed. I love the way one song leads into the next, never lingering too long in one spot. The variety is perfect and frequent change ups keep me going even when I’d like to quit. My free trial is up, but even the little voiceover ad that comes on isn’t bad at all. You get nonstop music for a solid 15 minutes and then maybe 10 seconds of info on the subscriptions. I’d say paying is definitely worth it for the perks and added user bonuses, but the free version is fantastic as well. Five stars all around!
