I love the whole this app idea but it’s just horrible execution. Their comment system is messed up bad. Let me give you a little insight into what I experience everyday. I’ll write a comment and post it, except it will glitch out and only I can see it then I’ll delete it but then it won’t go away but it’s like it’s not really there because only I can see it, or and this happens every single day I try to post a comment it posts then once I exist out of the post and go back in it won’t save my comment! All the time every single day multiple times a day my comments glitch out, this has been happening for awhile and they haven’t done a single thing about it. Not to mention I’m a paying user and they started sliding in promoted posts. Do yourself a favor and get Reddit or something.

9GAG became very visually unappealing. As I’m reading through I notice most and best reviews addressing actual issues are still rating 5 stars. How is that going to improve 9GAG? Scrolling and viewing posts is different it seems we’re taking steps back because now you can’t scroll left and right, any sort of settings regarding your profile are not working. Why do I need to wait 6 days to change my profile picture yet you don’t have a problem selecting a random one for me before the 6 days is up? Everything is so SLOW and SLUGGISH, it seems SLOWER, less user friendly, you end up in 9GAG STORE about 15 times while using 9GAG for 5 minutes because the ads and ad placement is just atrocious. Comments do not always post, the whole comment section of posts became worse and once again visually unappealing. Everything seems out of order and it’s so hard to view your notifications and know what is new and what is old. Is this 2008? It seems we went back 10 years.

After spending about a year on this app, I realized that this app admin (located in china) will seal posts from anywhere and everyone and regurgitate is as their own original content. This fits with the normal operating procedure for the country in general. What happens is you end up seeing the same exact posts each day. Sometimes you’ll see identical posts with different titles. Sometimes gifs will have less pixels because they’ve been copied and pasted. Avoid 9GAG at all cost. It’s literally one of the most dishonest apps to exist. They will steal you original content and use it over and over until it drives people mad. 9GAG generates its own likes to appear popular and it’s own echo chamber of comments.

I wouldn’t be surprised if 20 this app employees in china get paid to steal memes and generate random comments all day.

Also, 9GAG is incredible racist. And I’m not being dramatic about that. The Chinese bots or admins often generate extremely racist posts. 9GAG is the single worst social media app to exist.

I recently got back on this app and the people on 9GAG are for the most part full of hate. I get the difference between humor like Chris Rock, Louis CK, Bill Burr, I can go and and on with more comedians that tackle social humor, what is being posted on 9GAG is not that, it’s just sick and pure hatred in comment section and there is no avoiding post that just come from pure hatred. It is racism and hated against Black people, Muslims, Jews, immigrants, Asians and gays, and I think I missed a few more groups of people that they target. I’m going to uninstalling 9GAG and I think Apple needs to take a look at this app, I don’t like canceling but 9GAG really needs to have moderation because at its current state it feels like you joined some hate group sharing memes.

Been using 9GAG for years. Great app, but progressively, advertisements have become more and more of an issue. Prompting me to download the same application from 9GAG Store. Repeatedly. Will return to 9GAG after being redirected to an app on 9GAG Store, just to be redirected again, and again, and again. It’s becoming so persistent that I can no longer browse 9GAG . It redirects me randomly into an endless loop. I’m starting to get the idea it’s to push their “pro” membership onto whoever is sick of being drowned in advertisements. Seriously guys, fix this. Ads are not a problem when it comes to scrolling past them or just looking at a banner stretched across the bottom of the screen. But if I can’t opt out of being redirected to the AppStore every 10-15 seconds (literally) it makes your app absolutely unusable.

I understand a free app needs ad service to remain free; however, it’s beginning to affect how 9GAG works. There are ads posted after every three posts and always an add at the bottom of the screen, which again, is completely fine. What I cannot stand is ads will also take over the screen randomly as you’re using it and will happen within 2-5 min of using 9GAG . On multiple occasions, however, i was forced to close 9GAG and reopen it as the ads could not be clicked out of. I’ve been using 9GAG for years but I seriously think I’m done after seeing how ad service has more priority than the actual users. Way to go this app, you sold out in the hopes people will pick up your overpriced “Pro” version while leaving the free users to use a broken app that essentially is a way for you to solely receive ad revenue. Fix your mess and go back to being the hub for a wonderful community.

I actually like 9GAG . It has funny memes and videos and also cool down to earth people who you may find a connection with. I have been on it for years and lately have being slowly moving away from this app. Unfortunately all of that funny good memes and videos are downplayed by the fact that everybody complains and race baits every single time they can. Example: Witcher came out and for those who haven’t seen it, was great. After not being on 9GAG for a while due to all the negativity, I picked it back up again. First thing I see is literally a post about if black people didn’t see a black person in the Witcher they would complain about diversity vs An Asian person not giving 2 looks back. I immediately deleted 9GAG . Unfortunately, the this app I knew and loved is gone now.

I've been using this app for as long as I can remember but recently the devs made a change to make the Ads very sensitive to touch. Even when I'm trying to scroll, most of times it ends up taking it as a tap and opening the ad in my browser. This not only irritating, but it is taking me away from 9GAG and I don't end up coming back most of time. Do you really want to take a customer away from a website and not even earn from the ad since I never intended to even interact with the site. We all know your client is going to invalidate the session if I don't even interact with their website!

I’ve had 9GAG for so many years now, doesn’t get very many crashes and I just scroll past the ads, however this new video ad even though I scroll past it as soon as I see the yellow ad icon, it pauses the music from my iPhone. In order to hear the video ad, this is incredibly annoying and takes away from my enjoyment of 9GAG as I frequently have to exit 9GAG go in my music and un pause it. Please fix! Other apps just automatically mute the video and I can still listen to my music uninterrupted , this just pauses my music and doesn’t play the sound on the ad anyways ( which is the only good thing otherwise it’d be worse.)

I browse this app everyday since 2013 and I’ve never complained about 9GAG but right now it is terrible! I’ve had no choice but to say something about it because I’m tired of being spammed with ads! I scroll 2 times and suddenly I’m in the apple store because an add sent me there and I do not browse this app with the intention of downloading games for my phone! I had no other choice but to pay for this app pro to get rid of the ads! Before the last update 9GAG was not like this! I thought the updates were supposed to improve 9GAG not ruin it!

I’ve been using 9GAG for years now and the new update just came out and it fixed a lot of problems I had before. 9GAG is now a lot easier to use one handedly if you’ve got a huge phone. It looks gorgeous with the new update and it’s easy to navigate again.

My only problem is although it looks amazing, it’s tries to mimic reddit a little bit and you can tell what notifications are new and which are old, basically first world problems that kinda waste time and hurt the eyes trying to find the good stuff.

Ah yes, this app, the beautiful app created to help pass the time. Whether you are bored at home, in a waiting room, or needing to pass the time for whatever other reason - this app is your companion. I've been a user for too many years to count (somewhere between 6-9 years) and I have enjoyed the ease of 9GAG , the dank memes, but most of all the community. Since 9GAG has asked me to rate them and I've been putting it off for some time now, I figure why not. These days the memes are more scarce than they once were and it seems like a lot of content gets through to the hot page that is questionable considering many of us have seen it for the millionth time. With enough time I'm sure I'll see it all but thankfully this app still is able to offer me some new things I haven't seen. Often I find myself cracking up at the comments more than the posts themselves but then again, I'm still entertained! And that is the point of 9GAG . I'm giving this four stars because 9GAG could be better. Mainly, I think the developers should find a way to stop recycled memes (as well as bs Twitter/IG screenshots) to find their way to the hot page as it is one of the biggest complaints that I see in the community and definitely one of my biggest complaints as well. Get past that and I think 9GAG could come back to its former glory. Until then I'll just keep trotting along and making my way to the comment sections to have a good laugh.

I think they fixed my previous issues: After some time after exiting 9GAG , it’ll send you back to the top of the posts, which requires a lot of annoying scrolling to get back to your previous position. Needs to separate new posts from old ones you’ve already seen instead of mixing them after time passes and new posts go up. Really interesting and funny community though.

Would be good to add posts to a list for watching later such as when you’re unable to use audio on a post and dont want to add it to your likes

I’ve been using this app for almost 2 whole years and it’s been a pleasant experience. The entire community is one to behold, and the the post are all relevant to today’s world. If your looking to blow off some steam or maybe kill some time, definitely download 9GAG. It’s a free download.

The one issue that most of the community is displeased with is the ads running rapid throughout the scrolling menus. But they are taking care of it one day at a time. You won’t find a better app to make your days feel worth spent than this one.

Honest to God, ever since I started using 9GAG I completely stopped having sex. This was an issue as I caught Chlamydia a few times and my main issue was there was nothing that could quite compare to sex itself. This is when this app just stepped into my life and it was small at first; I'd browse it next to my partner then I started realizing this app doesn't nag at me or tell me that "I'm leaving because you don't listen to me" or that "I'm bored because you make it boring". I choose the category, I get instant gratification from that and that satisfies my need for sex. So I went to the doctor recently though, and to this app's credit, I'm Chlamydia free!!

You either like this site or you don’t. Those who do have created a community that is surprisingly warmly supportive but also divisive to outsiders and lurkers. 9GAG is nicely made and useful for passing the time. my only complaint is recently I keep getting logged out randomly but I believe that to be a glitch that will be addressed soon. All in all if your looking for an eclectic and varied group this is that and more. Happy travels and be safe out there. -LM

The new update has literally made things hard for me (not sarcasm :D) I see the same post maybe 3 times in a scroll. I see posts with 200 upvotes in hot. The posts are like scrambled, they are not in the order they were in the older version. Everything seems like a chaos and it’s really annoying. When I play a video and finish watching it, scroll down, another video comes, the cover is the same as the last one i saw, and when i play it, IT IS THE SAME VIDEO. But when i click on the title to go in, its the one meant to be. When im scrolling the posts keep jumping up and down all of a sudden, changing positions. The new update almost had me crying. Please please fix it cause i cant live without this app 💙

I’ve been asking about the benefits of getting Pro + (and how to buy it) quite a lot. Using the “Ask” button or the one that says Feedback. Three times I have ask.. and there’s CERO response on this regards. Why aren’t you paying any attention to those questions? Do you guys even check every once in a while that or those buttons are just there for decoration? Come on guys....

And one more thing; sometimes, when scrolling, you get the sound of videos of posts you already passed.. of video you left behind. English is not my native language, I apologize if I’m not making this point properly clear. Thanks.

Hey this app, i would like to say that i use 9GAG everyday on my phone and find it hilarious. All the anime posts could be done away with but never the less the community is vast and so too are the interests so i just deal with it. 9GAG is excellent and keep up the good work. Also, ignore all these reviews bashing you about the ads. Honestly yes they are annoying, like they would be anywhere but honestly i dont even notice them, im a simple man, i see an app and i simply keep scrolling, it really is not a big deal so dont let the negative reviews due to them get to you, thats quite unfair of the users to bash you over something so minuscule. Keep up the great work!

I’ve been using 9GAG for YEARS. In my opinion, it is one of the best apps for memes, some-what valid news, and just all-around fantastic posts from people around the globe. You will go to the comments section of whatever is on the Hot page and you will definitely see various comments in different languages. You have people from all over the world communicating and sharing what is happening in their country or just posting hilarious memes. I would recommend it to anyone over 13 years of age. 10/10

Linda listen, a person can have their opinion and say it.
9GAG however spreads so much hate towards certain races, displays videos of people literally dying, and people bash on America nonstop. Thanks for making people feel like trash no matter who they are or where they’re from.

This is supposed to be a funny app full of memes I can look at at the end of the day to laugh and all I do is get depressed because some person somewhere feels the need to share stuff they hate so they can complain instead of sharing something that makes them laugh. This wasn’t an app meant to attack a certain group, individual, or country. It’s meant to help individuals enjoy their day with some humor.
I’m getting real tired of it.

Definitely loving the new update after they fixed the annoying scrolling bug however there are still issues that need to be addressed but I will only discuss two that I didn’t find highlighted in other reviews.

1. Video playback freezes when using the scrub bar and sometimes I get just audio when scrubbing while the video remains frozen.

2. What adds to that frustration is the fact that you need sniper aim with your finger on the scrub bar otherwise you just end up enabling the side menu (right swipe) or a different feed (left swipe) when fast forwarding or rewinding a video. Would be cool if there was an option to disable the swipe gestures all together because I find myself accidentally enabling them sometimes when scrolling the feed.

Maybe when the swiping is disabled there could instead be two buttons on each side to activate them or the easier fix is maybe enabling it only when a user swipes closer to the bezel only and not anywhere on 9GAG .

Not sure if devs see our devices along with our reviews but just in case, I’m on an iPhone X with the latest software and I get the video freezing issue on both WiFi and LTE. And yes I have tried countless times reinstalling 9GAG and deleting any pertinent history of 9GAG off my phone as well as 9GAG ’s cache in the settings menu before I do a reinstall.
