This app became very visually unappealing. As I’m reading through I notice most and best reviews addressing actual issues are still rating 5 stars. How is that going to improve this app? Scrolling and viewing posts is different it seems we’re taking steps back because now you can’t scroll left and right, any sort of settings regarding your profile are not working. Why do I need to wait 6 days to change my profile picture yet you don’t have a problem selecting a random one for me before the 6 days is up? Everything is so SLOW and SLUGGISH, it seems SLOWER, less user friendly, you end up in the APP STORE about 15 times while using the app for 5 minutes because the ads and ad placement is just atrocious. Comments do not always post, the whole comment section of posts became worse and once again visually unappealing. Everything seems out of order and it’s so hard to view your notifications and know what is new and what is old. Is this 2008? It seems we went back 10 years.

After spending about a year on 9GAG, I realized that 9GAG admin (located in china) will seal posts from anywhere and everyone and regurgitate is as their own original content. This fits with the normal operating procedure for the country in general. What happens is you end up seeing the same exact posts each day. Sometimes you’ll see identical posts with different titles. Sometimes gifs will have less pixels because they’ve been copied and pasted. Avoid this app at all cost. It’s literally one of the most dishonest apps to exist. They will steal you original content and use it over and over until it drives people mad. The app generates its own likes to appear popular and it’s own echo chamber of comments.

I wouldn’t be surprised if 20 9GAG employees in china get paid to steal memes and generate random comments all day.

Also, this app is incredible racist. And I’m not being dramatic about that. The Chinese bots or admins often generate extremely racist posts. This app is the single worst social media app to exist.

Been using the app for years. Great app, but progressively, advertisements have become more and more of an issue. Prompting me to download the same application from the App Store. Repeatedly. Will return to the app after being redirected to an app on the App Store, just to be redirected again, and again, and again. It’s becoming so persistent that I can no longer browse the app. It redirects me randomly into an endless loop. I’m starting to get the idea it’s to push their “pro” membership onto whoever is sick of being drowned in advertisements. Seriously guys, fix this. Ads are not a problem when it comes to scrolling past them or just looking at a banner stretched across the bottom of the screen. But if I can’t opt out of being redirected to the AppStore every 10-15 seconds (literally) it makes your app absolutely unusable.
