Money Monitor Pro Reviews

I’ve been using MoneyMonitorPro for years, and I’ve always loved it. They recently updated (v 4.0) it to give it a “fresh coat of paint.” I prefer the charm of the previous color scheme and logos that are now removed and replaced with a white background and many different colors. Unfortunately, my custom category for nights to the theater has been affected by the new logo changes; what used to be a pair of tickets is now an airplane. Also, the layout for the “Home Page” has changed, so that will take getting used to. I personally liked having the “Budgets” icon on the middle left, and the “Bills” icon in the middle. Maybe give us the ability to customize the layout of our Home Page? Furthermore, I am most disappointed in the changes to how the “Accounts” section is displayed. This is update now labels the transaction by the “Payer” rather than the “Category” or “Budget” option. I am disappointed in this change because I personally use the “Note” box to indicate what and to whom the transaction was made, and now many of my transactions’ headings are “Unknown.” Maybe an update to choose what labels are displayed as the headings? Additionally, I miss the ability to mark the transaction as “Cleared” or not directly from the list. Now, I have to go into each transaction to make this change. Please just revert to the old design and style!

I have been using MoneyMonitorPro for years and have enjoyed it for the most part. However, the customer support for any issues I have had has been bad. They take forever to respond and don't give helpful information when they do. I recently asked why the ads kept popping up constantly even after I Xed out because I paid for the full version of MoneyMonitorPro a long time ago. Their response was to click the X in the corner and it should stop. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Um - that's the point. I've done that several times. Today I was balancing my checkbook like I always do and suddenly it said I had no transactions left. Excuse me? I paid for this a long time ago and am now having paid features removed from me, a long time user, to force me to pay a subscription? I've emailed them, but I know it will be a while before I get a reply. This is frustrating and not acceptable.

MoneyMonitorPro is great.. A request though.. In Transactions that comes under Transfer plz show the account from which transfer is made. Right now in transaction details we can only see the word transfer & not the name of the account from/to which transfer is done. For eg. If we enter a transaction of transfer from cash account to bank account of 2k lets say.. Now when I open by Bank account & see the transaction there. It shows date, & in in transaction details the word “Transfer” & then the amount & balance. Instead of just the word transfer, it should show either “Transfer from Cash” or just Cash. This way it will be more simple to know the transfer details otherwise we have click through each transaction to see from/to which account transfer has been done.. I hope the developer will address this issue soon

I have used many expense tracking apps, and this one has interesting functionality but if you travel across time zones, the budget feature becomes unusable so you won’t be able to compare your actuals versus budgeted directly on MoneyMonitorPro , you’ll have to download expenses to a spreadsheet and do the budget vs actuals there. Very annoying and partially defeating the purpose of having an expense tracking app on your phone. The bug adds monthly budgets and double counts expenses for the month ends where you are in a different time zone. I have paid for an annual subscription for this but I am looking for another app because this bug is getting very annoying, and it has been around for SO long, I really thought it would be fixed by now. Please fix the time zone bug!!!!!

Love MoneyMonitorPro because it allows me to keeps track of my budgets for spending and saving accounts. It’s also a great trackers for paying bills on specific days you’d schedule for reminders. My only feedback is that with this recent update I am not a fan of the auto-population of the long list of category types being expanded on every added entry or scrolling through the list of options because the font is larger now. Other than that this is an extremely powerful resource to keep track of your spending, savings, and bills! I did enjoy the simplicity of the previous app layout, before this recent update but all the important features are still available.

This would be perfect except when you export the data in CSV etc., it isn’t just a raw list of transactions with date, category, and amount on every row, that you could then use. It has the category totals on a row after a variable number of rows depending on how many individual transactions there were. And the category name only appears on one row, apart from its transactions. So you can’t use a sumif function to get just a list of category sums, without all of the other individual amounts cluttering them up, to then do other analyses with. You can’t use the individual amounts or the category totals for any automated analysis, like vlookup, index/match, or anything, because of the variable number of rows without any category names being on the row. So you can’t use this for a spreadsheet that shows your cost of living over months and years, or anything really useful beyond just one month. This could have been so useful, with so little effort.

Great finance app. I like how you can quickly look at different reports such as categories, accounts, weekly, monthly, etc. I like writing in the note box what I purchased at the store and I love that the note is visible on the transactions so I don't have to click each one and go to the details just to see the note. My favorite thing about MoneyMonitorPro is at the end of the month I export the category reports to an excel file and I love that each category is separated with all the details and total for each. I've used other apps where they just list all the expenses in one list and the categories are all mixed. MoneyMonitorPro organizes the report very nicely.

One thing that would make MoneyMonitorPro perfect is being able to do category budgets. Right now you can create budgets, but they aren't linked to your categories so you have to add each transaction individually to the created budget which makes it really inconvenient. I don't use the budget feature because of this.

I had been using MoneyMonitorPro more than 3 years now. I was very happy with all the features so far and was excited to see the recent upgrade with more features.
The first thing that disappointed me in this upgrade was that they removed feature to attach bill receipts (images) with payment.
Then I noticed few things like even if I had set a bill to repeat monthly and delete a bill for a specific month, it stopped showing me for future bills too. I was so depend on MoneyMonitorPro and because of not showing my bills in next month, I missed payment.

I would give 5 stars for the previous version but 4 stars for this version. I don’t want to but have to move to some other app.

This is a pretty good app but....I find myself not using it as much as I’d like to even though I paid for it.
The issue for me is that when you input a dollar amount for example, $5.89 or $5.99 it will round it up to the nearest dollar ($6.00) and because of this MoneyMonitorPro then starts to reflect the wrong dollar amounts that you have available in your accounts.
My concern is that using MoneyMonitorPro for budgeting my finances will reflect in me over drawing my account all because MoneyMonitorPro rounds up to the nearest dollar therefore it shows I have more money available than I really do.
Also because of this, it makes it difficult to reconcile your financial accounts each month.

Love MoneyMonitorPro, let's me record and track my expenses, I was used to useing Microsoft money years ago, so I've been looking for a good app that can do almost the same if not better than what I was used to useing, the only thing I don't know how to do is link it to my account so I could balance my account easier.

Update: app is not consistent, doesn’t move bills from one month to another even though you set it on monthly repeat, you change 1 thing and it’s all messed up, doesn’t leave you the part your working on, you have to constantly sign back in and close out the home settings to get back to where you want to work on. Makes it harder to balance your account when it’s not accurate.

I've used Quicken's desktop program for years and now Money Monitor for years instead. Quicken was too hard, and reconciliation never came out right. Money Monitor is not a Quicken substitute, I use it for budgeting purposes and to print my yearly expenditures for tax purposes at the end of the year. It is easy to set up a budget and see where the money goes and how much is left for the month. Budget category amounts can be rolled over to the next month.
The category reports are spot on, and are so helpful with my taxes since I put the expenditures in the tax categories I’ve created.
The only glitch these past 2 years is at the beginning of the year there is a strange budget category additional entry of December 31-Jan. 31 as well as the usual Jan1-Jan31, and an additional entry of Jan 30-31. I reported this a year ago, but it happened again. Had to check all my budget categories and adjust the amounts rolled over to the correct amounts. In the past, Money Monitor developers responded to any query or concern I’ve had and helped me. I’m sure they will fix this problem.
I’ve renewed for another year because the program is just that helpful to me. It’s worth it!

I have been using MoneyMonitorPro for years and it’s the best expense tracking app I’ve found. I really just want a place to track a few of my budget categories (groceries, gas, and mad money), my vacation fund, and extra money I get like tax returns and stimulus checks. I don’t want to link my bank account and sort every transaction I make, or to do a zero-based budget. MoneyMonitorPro does everything I need it to, and I really appreciate the utilitarian design. I upgraded to the paid version after I hit the limit of transactions allowed for the free app, and I have never regretted it. It’s totally worth a try.

I’ve loved MoneyMonitorPro for a long time the new update really through me off. The reports section had been messed up for me. But it turns out that it was just a setting change. They responded fairly fast through the contact support in MoneyMonitorPro . I’m pleased this is a great app. Especially for those who mostly handle cash. You can customize this very well with some nice reports.

Still a great app. Stopped using it for awhile because I lost track of my income. But I’m using it again. And my god. MoneyMonitorPro is great for cash users. Really helps you stay organized and plan your finances well.

I have downloaded countless apps that are similar and this one by far has all the features I have wanted. Aside from having the ability to automatically sync your accounts live, you have complete functionality to a full check register virtually. I like the easy interface, the customization, the way you can split transactions, make your own categories, backup to Dropbox and iCloud & more! 100% worth every penny. Believe me when I say I have tried them all and I’m very picky before I settle with one app. I used Home Budget before, and I loved it, but this one is just like it but on steroids! Thanks to the developers!

I needed an app that would let me manually input my income. As someone whose income comes mainly from tips, I had trouble with most of the mainstream apps that connect solely to your bank account. They often do not let you input manually any cash income so, what’s the point of using them if they aren’t an all encompassing, accurate view of your finances? MoneyMonitorPro lets you do it all yourself on a simplified interface for just a few bucks. The visual charts are awesome and make it easy for someone who is visually inclined to stay on top of things. This has been the best tool for fully tracking my finances. I love it. The new update is pleasing and I appreciate the bolder text. Thank you for creating a truly useful app.

I'd looked for a good app for tracking balances for a long time and been very frustrated with the apps that either wanted me to hand over my bank info to guess what I'm spending money on or wanted me to divide money into "envelopes" then try not to use all the money in the envelope. MoneyMonitorPro lets me be in control of how things are documented. Appreciate the updates with color and absolutely happy to pay a small yearly fee since they are continuously updating MoneyMonitorPro . I've been using it for 12 years now and it's very helpful especially for self employed people like me with variable cash flow.

I use this mainly to keep up with all my side jobs and expenses. The latest update kinda of muddied things up by adding features, which will be useful I guess, but all the last entries have an Unknown category now. So, unless I go back and change each entry manually, they won’t be updated. I wish there was a search option when choosing an account. Currently one must scroll through the list to the account desired. Not a problem unless the list is as long as mine is! Would be helpful to be able to start typing the name and have it show up.
Overall, MoneyMonitorPro is very intuitive and easy to use. A lifesaver!

I've had Money Monitor Pro for many years on my cell phones through the years. I greatly appreciate the improvements each update. I now use the iPad version and love it as this is my detailed money tracking app. It keeps me on top of bills due, up coming bills and my balances for all of my accounts. I would recommend it to everyone. No need to waste time testing other apps. I've done it and like this one. One thing really surprised me is when I had a problem with MoneyMonitorPro in the earlier years, I got a quick response from the owner who helped me. The issue was resolved in the next update. The reports are great. I recommend getting this one.

My wife and I have been using MoneyMonitorPro to organize our finances for quite a while. We have used other localized apps--I don't like the idea of a web-based service for finances. MoneyMonitorPro has helped me to see 'where the money goes' and to understand our spending habits. The reports are very well laid out. I like that you can see every piece of information you put into MoneyMonitorPro in a report form--really gives you a grasp on the details. You do have to manually add your vendors--which is best. I like to add a 'cash' & 'check' payee; this allows a little more fluidity in how you operate your cash budget. Transferring between accounts is also very helpful-though there is not a report for that. All in all, we love it and will continue to use in our budgeting.

I don’t remember if I paid anything for MoneyMonitorPro or not; if I didn’t I should have and if I did it was worth it! I switched to MoneyMonitorPro about 5 years ago after another financial app I used for many years stopped being supported. Once I made the adjustment to this one I was completely happy with the functionality and the additional features it offers. I use it to keep track of my checking account, multiple savings accounts, retirement accounts and annuities. It is easy to enter transactions, view reports, search, and even schedule routine/recurring transactions. I would be lost without MoneyMonitorPro!!!
