BEST TEAVEL APP WITH MAPS

I am writing this review from my hotel room in Venice and have been traveling throughout Europe. I cannot explain how invaluable SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner has been to me thus far. I paid for the premium version and it was well worth it. I have had cell data turned off my entire trip but SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner has helped me navigate the complicated streets of several cities despite having my data turned off (I don't know how- but it is not using data). It is amazing, i planned my entire month long trip using SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner . When I had questions, I emailed the developers and received prompt responses. It has been the best purchase that I have ever made from SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner Store. I highly recommend it!!

Good app concept, but untrustworthy

I really want to like SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner but I find that I can’t trust it with my trip plans. After landing in the UK from the USA, SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner moved all my events one day ahead. Maybe this is a time-zone issue but a world travel app should handle things better. After moving them all back manually, the map filtering still filters based on the wrong dates so my itinerary view is not in sync with the map view. My trip companion who is sharing my data on her iPad still sees the dates wrongly also even after I’ve manually corrected them on my iPad.

Another thing that is quite terrible is that there doesn’t appear to be a way to put the same item in the trip on multiple days with different time settings. For example, if you want to put the airport in for your arrival and departure, editing the time will change it on both days.

The searching seems quite bad also. Many times SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner can’t find what I am looking for, but if I zoom in on the map, suddenly the item is there and I can click on it to add to the trip.

On the positive side, SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner has neat workflow, allowing itineraries to be built up with nice visualization on the map. It also makes it easy to discover nearby items of interest.

If SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner could be bullet-proof in handling trip data, this would be an amazing app and would be a big part of my tip planning. As it is, I don’t feel that I can trust it.

Useful but not

Just started using SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner and I like how easy it is to plan your itinerary out. Even share it. The biggest problem I have is being able to use my choice of navigation. I’d like to be able to use Google Maps or Apple maps for directions but it forces you to use their GPS solution, which then requires an additional purchase to get turn by turn directions!

Update: User error. Sygic actually uses Apple’s way of doing their settings so it wasn’t apparent to the user. Support is correct and you can change the default navigation app. Home Screen/Springboard > Settings > Sygic Travel. Amazing. The only issue I have is SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner should walk you through an initial setup to get these things sorted out. With this fixed definitely an app I could recommend to others. Transferring my itinerary back to this now. Thank you!

What happened?!

How did this go from one of my favorite itinerary planners to one of the my least favorite designs overnight. It used to be SO user friendly and super convenient. The UX completely changed, and I wish I could say for the better. The search feature is so bad now and it’s not that I don’t like change... I just don’t like what this update did. Made it much much more difficult to plan a trip ( what I originally got SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner for when it was still tripomatic). As someone who paid for premium membership, I’m disappointed

Best I've found, but not great.

I tried TripIt, but I couldn't figure anything out. Google Trips was pretty good for finding info, but I couldn't share or get maps. I like Sygic's map feature with the little pictures to click on (but some pictures don't match the place). I'm able to share my trip with family, and that is great. I also like the mode of transportation option.
However, if you are looking for a specific place and don't have the EXACT name that Sygic has it listed, it's difficult to find. I wish it was linked to a search engine that could help decider what I meant.
For instance, I could not find Hotel Moderno on the Puerta del Sol in Madrid even when I put in street address. (Lots of others popped up from different places). I finally found it when I clicked on "accommodations" and it was listed as just "Moderno"
Or looking for the Ratoncito Perez museum, I looked up Ratoncito Perez, but couldn't find it until I put the official name Casa Museo del Ratón Pérez.
I paid the fee for premium, but the info isn't stellar, just ok. So I'm not getting rid of my Google Trips app just yet.
I still think the sale price for SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner was worth it, I do like the map and sharing feature.

It Changed.

This used to be my go-to app as I travel internationally quite often. I downloaded this a few years ago when the interface was simpler - a major highlight was that you could browse different a ton of activities on the right hand of the screen. You could even sort these by category (ie tours, free things to do, markets) and there was a much larger database of things to do. It seems like they completely swapped this out for the more condensed list of most popular sights. The offline maps are great, when they work...I'm trying to find a replacement for this - I am paid user but unfortunately haven’t found a comparable substitute. I’m heading back to Paris in a few days and all of the sights and activities I saved on the previous version are GONE.

Best Travel Guide App available.

I've recently traveled to Europe (Paris, Madrid, Barcelona and Bordeaux) and planned my trip with ease, all thanks to Sygic Travel. The amount of places presented by SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner and top sights to see or best tours to were really helpful in our decision making. I wish we would travel more so I could invest in the premier features. But, I just might make the purchase because I would like to support the awesome teams that put this together.

Keep up the great work - Roberto

Paid app now - edited

Great when it was free/ad-supporterd. The change to paid-for-EVERYTHING is too drastic. Why not continue to provide certain basic features in the free version, and provide premium options to unlock other premium features? Hardly usable now - they are forcing everyone to the “premium” option. Please don’t insult your users with “we are making more awesome feature” or “making the change in order to make it better “. Most of us were happy as it was.
- edited: understood better the need to charge but still believe this could have been segmented better. Thanks.

Used to be fabulous

I loved SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner and referred it non-stop to my traveling friends. I was also happy to upgrade - money well spent. I tried numerous itinerary planning apps and Sygic beat them all hands down.

Unfortunately Sygic has now moved to being primarily a map application with frustratingly difficult itinerary planning. I have to plan my itinerary on their "legacy" website on my computer and then I can see it on my phone. It is extremely difficult to do any detailed planning on my phone now. The previous app version also exceeded the computer version with its ease and custom-ability.

Changing from the #1 trip planning app niche into trying to compete with all the other huge map developers was a bad decision.

Used it in Vancouver and Victoria BC

Great app with details and pics which links to the Navigator Sygic app. Or just use Google Maps. I gave it a 4 because It could use work with places to eat nearby. But overall it is awesome and I have shared it with friends! I didn't need to use the Itinerary due to the spontaneity of our trip which was wonderful! I click on the next place I want to see and if I like it I go based on our preference! So many wonderful things I want to say but I will definitely use it all the time in the future!!!👍🏼

Best Travel App!

I came across SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner while I was planning my honeymoon trip to NYC. This was the best app to plan each day of our trip and keep track of everything we did and saw. It was so helpful to be able to see how far each landmark/sight was from the others so we could get the most out of our trip. Would highly recommend SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner for planning and using during any trip.

Was a great app, new version is rough to use

They had an awesome app and have made it almost unusable with the new version unless you have a one or two day trip. You can now just see one day at a time and it is painful to add a city to multiple days. You were able to select multiple days in the past in one screen, but now you have to select a day, then it auto closes, then you have to reopen to add another day. I used this for all my multi-week trips in the past and at this point SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner is just too painful to use. So frustrating that they ruined such an awesome app :(

So helpful!

This was fantastic to have on our trip to Japan! I love the multiple functions--scheduling what to do on which days, the suggested sites, that you can save links and also add your own notes. Being able to see all your saves on a map is GREAT for planning outings so you can focus on which area to tackle. I referred to it every day several times while we were on the road.

Helps you find sights and plan

I travel on my own in Europe. I use Sygic Travel as my primary tool for planning on what to see and what day to plan to see things. Example: a week in Rome you want to see The Vatican, Coliseum, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. These places are at opposite sides of the city. There are also great lesser known sights near each one that Sygic Travel shows you. Don’t plan your trip without it.

Great

In the last year two of my other travel apps have closed due to Covid. Question-If you closed and you shut down your servers would SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner on my phone still work. The other travel apps I had stopped working and I lost years of travel data. Let’s hope that does not happen——but?

Great planning tool!

This makes it so easy to find places to see, it lets you pick bubbles on the map and dig into reviews and other valuable information right there. Then adding an item to your itinerary is simple and you can start managing the days on the trip so you aren't doing too much or too little.

App premium

Great app especially putting a trip together on a computer but a total disappointment when coming to SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner on an iPhone XS Max. Even when I’m in hotspots takes forever to go from one screen to the other and majority of the time it kicks me straight out. Doing a lot of travel to Europe the first couple times I used SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner was slow but ok but my last trip to Cologne it was non functional period.

The maps need some extra features

I love SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner , but one of the most frustrating issues is that walking routes as similar to driving routes. Instead of taking a direct path, the map is directing me to go 2 or more blocks out of the way, doubling back, etc.

It would be great if there was a way to adjust the route points.

Other than that, it’s the best app for building your itinerary.

No integration with CityMapper or GoogleMap

Been a premium user since 2016. Been happy on most part. Would like integration with CityMapper for public transportation routing so that I don’t need to exit SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner and then to type in location in CityMapper. The Visitacity free map already can do that.

Disappointed in latest version

I’m in the midst of planning an extended trip to Italy and was so delighted with SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner (I did purchase SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner ). And then my iPad crashed and needed to be replaced.

I expected that when I reinstalled SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner all would be well. Unfortunately, it isn’t. As advertised, they in fact did rebuild it from the ground up but they didn’t add many of the previous very helpful features.

I’m now using my phone which I thankfully did not update or my desktop computer. The web-based Sygic has a feature to revert to the previous version.

I can only hope that the next version will be released soon and will incorporate many previous features. I anxiously await being able to give SygicTravelMapsTripPlanner 5 stars again.
