Really motivating!

Really great app for getting motivated to work out. Lots of different exercises count and you get points and can level up like a real life video game. I’m learning lots of new exercises I have never done before. Joining a challenge with a friend or colleagues is super motivating. Only complaint is that some features of the website not available on Fitocracy , like checking leaders in your group challenge.

Best fitness tracking app

Best app I could find for free that did most everything I wanted. I wanted to be able to input workouts prior to doing them, and track each set I did. It’s easy to use during your workouts, and has a very large repertoire of exercises. It appears to have been desired and marketed more towards females (all pictures of exercise demonstrations is one woman) which initially didn’t appeal to me, but that’s really not important if the demonstration picture is a male or female. Best fitness tracking app. And the fact that you can go back and just click “repeat workout” and then change the reps/weights set by set really allows you to know how to push yourself harder each workout. Fitocracy has 5 stars from me. I downloaded about 9 other apps before this one and by far this one wins!

Rotten

Yes, this helps to get you to do the workouts, so that’s a plus. But there are MANY problems. If you repeat a workout, you are not allowed to skip an exercise.
If you want to add something in the middle of a workout, you lose everything you already entered.
Last night I was not allowed to do more that 30 reps in a set of leg lifts.
The time zone is not mine- I did a workout and entered it before midnight, yet it marked me down as doing it the next day, so my points didn’t get added to a challenge that ended that day.
Bug problems on Fitocracy . Have to shut it down when a workout is complete in order to do anything else on Fitocracy .
Can’t do some things on Fitocracy - only on the website.
Points are strange. 17 points for a single 15-pound squat, yet 5 points for 3 minutes of high-resistance bicycling?!? Who came up with that?
And no chart to see what exercises earn what points. That would be very helpful. And the points don’t seem to adjust based on your age or weight.
Very clunky and user-unfriendly.
I would change apps in a heartbeat, but my friends are already here and in the middle of some challenges, and we don’t want to bother with finding a better app right now. This does do the job of getting us to workout, but it really stinks.

Great app fallen in disrepair

Fitocracy used to be my favorite way to record all activity because it had the widest repository of exercises and it was easy to use. Over the past year or two Fitocracy has evidently not been maintained at all. Features that used to work beautifull no longer work, such as the list of “recently recorded” exercises (mine has not updated in over a year). Even basic elements have stopped working, like when you try to a Finish a workout, the loading screen never ends. You have to kill Fitocracy and then usually delete at least one duplicate entry. There also is no longer any way to suggest new exercises. This is to say nothing of the social elements, which are a ghost town as Fitocracy has gone downhill. Really a shame.

How is this app still such a mess?

I got into Fito years ago, not long after they first started. I left the site after they released a major update to production that was completely unusable, demonstrating that they weren’t serious about their QA testing. Having just started lifting recently, I thought I’d come back and see what it’s like now. What do I find? Searching for exercises, I can’t see what I type into the search bar. When I complete a workout, the screen that I assume is supposed to show me my score doesn’t show me anything. And when I go to view the workout, it shows up on the day before I added it to. Stupid bugs that show this team is clearly still not serious about testing their updates prior to release. I’m done.

Way too buggy

please update Fitocracy more. It crashes, it’s occasionally difficult to use and buggy, I can’t see what I write in the search bar, lots of exercises don’t have video or even an image. There’s a lot of issues and the last update was 4 months ago, oh sorry, A year AGO.

I’d love more consistent updates. But it does have a wonderful community. Earning points to level up is a great way to get yourself motivated and I’ve been using it for years and years. We just want a better app.

I wrote this over six months ago, zero updates have been made. It’s not broken but it is deeply flawed and the fact that no one cares to update it means I don’t care to keep using it. It’s been fun!

Used to be the best fitness app, now unsupported.

Fitocracy used to be awesome, but it’s unsupported now. Or at least not updated in last year—despite Fitocracy maker still collecting money for accounts. And repeated bugs are unaddressed for months. Sad, this was the best fitness app too! Still works, but finishing workouts freezes, searches don’t show what you’re typing, database is old and dated, and other function issues. Still has live community but it’s dwindling. Computer interface still works, but it’s getting frustrating and might be time to find a new fitness app—sadly I never thought I’d say that for Fitocracy!

Stuck on robot calculating points

I’m stuck on the robot like everyone else and can’t start Fitocracy but rating 5 stars because it looks great and I’ve heard great things once it works.

I hope the other users saying the devs abandoned it are exaggerating. It seems like it happened all at once so I’m assuming it’s probably just a bug in an update that can be fixed.

I love fito!

When I first downloaded Fitocracy over two years ago I was just looking for something to track my workouts, but I ended up falling in love with the community in there. That is where Fitocracy shines. The people who use it are amazing! I’ve made some great friends through this app. I would recommend Fitocracy to anyone. And I’ll never leave as long as it’s up and running.

I keep coming back

I started using this in high school to track little workouts here and there outside of athletics.

In college I trained for triathlons, was in Army ROTC, and would hit the weights heavy and bulk for spring break, while Fitocracy allowed me to challenge myself in a different way through it all.

After college I turned to the weights as an answer for depression and striving for new workout high scores and PRs on lifts from this app really made me strive for the best me.

A family, new job, child etc got me distracted from fitness, but I’m back. I’m here for good and can’t wait to watch the charts and see my lift numbers approach and surpass where they were previously.

Keep it up this app, I love it

Best workout tracking app ever

This is the only app and site I’ve used for the past 7 years. I would be sad if it ever left. It keeps a great history if everything I do, tracks my PRs and how long it has been since I did certain lifts. The social side is wonderful too. I can post body progress picks without the leud comments Facebook gives.

5-star pending...

Would give a solid 5 stars, however there are many exercises I do that don’t exist in the data base as of yet. I get workout challenges from darebee and some of the workouts I have to modify to track... once I see a larger database of workouts my review will be re-evaluated to 5 stars. I love Fitocracy and am happy with it otherwise. Have recommended the use of Fitocracy to multiple colleagues as well.

Newest version needs serious debugging

I still have an old version and it rarely freezes but I got 4 of my friends to download and join me and their version freezes at the tutorial. If they get past it, it freezes after a workout. The “groups” function works on a web browser but doesn’t work in Fitocracy (says “0” members, and has little functionality). Now we are looking for a different app for workouts... Is anyone still working on Fitocracy? There are a lot of similar reviews here

Great community, very good app & website

The community is where it’s at with Fito! It’s a very good app for tracking as well, but I wish they would update it more seriously.
EDIT: Lowered by a star, I don’t think the people who took over are finding a way to make it profitable enough to implement serious regular updates. Still a good community and app though, but I’m suspicious of its long term future.

Great fitness tracking app

Useful and motivational. The this app user base is full of friendly people offering each other encouragement. Tracking workouts with this app lets you monitor your progress over time and also share with your friends what you've been up to.

Update, 2 yrs later: Still a very useful fitness tracker app.

Abandonded

I liked Fitocracy because it would allow you to group more than two exercises into a group. Sadly it appears to be abandonded. No updates in years. Too many fitness apps out there I suppose.

User Friendly & Goal Oriented

this app has been a wonderful tool in my fitness toolbox. The ability to follow workouts, build custom workouts, and track progress is easy to use. Over the years my personal fitness goals have evolved; this app has helped those goals to fruition the entire time.

Sad to see what it has become

Used to love this app a few years ago before I stopped tracking workouts. Downloaded it again today but had to delete within an hour.

- Fitocracy is too too slow - I’m reminded of the early 128kbps days of the internet

- Wish I could disable FRED. Takes ages to submit workout and calculate point

- clunky interface - had to keep tapping on the screen; added a few past day workouts and suddenly couldn’t find my way out

- can’t see the tracking details anymore (or perhaps it is just the clunky interface)

Sad that I had to delete it because it is the only app where I can log pull-up weights (adds as well as assisted weights as negative)

Fun concept, could use improvement

I'm a bit of a sucker for a Level Up! notification, so I'm a little biased. Fitocracy is good for is keeping tabs on what you've been doing. I've had some trouble searching for new things to do, and being able to sort through exercises I can't do because of a lack of equipment would be nice. All in all I still enjoy it and plan on using it.

Can’t get into app?

I feel like I would love Fitocracy. I’ve deleted it, redownloaded it...I keep coming across the same error. I’m unable to surpass the tutorial, and once I get to the walking example tutorial, I am prompted to hit the thumbs up to “finish”, a purple screen pops up, but then it goes back to the walking workout screen but it’s not the tutorial anymore and I can’t get out of it. None of the buttons but the play button works. I can’t get past this to even create an account.
