Some of the texts found on the website aren’t on SparkNotes at all, and SparkNotes is glitchy and doesn’t let me do anything. Don’t use SparkNotes , just use the website.

Honestly, using the website is free. I downloaded this on my iPad, which sits sideways as I type, and SparkNotes doesn’t even rotate. Between paying and not being easy to use with my iPad, the website is easily much better.

I love the website, it’s so easy to use and helps me study and catch up on missed reading. However SparkNotes is much harder to use. I got it to read summaries of a book I’m reading in school, but I had to pay for a trial in order to use it. I could not open a chapter unless I signed up for a trial. If I didn’t, the chapter summary would simply not open. I understand that a free trial would be necessary for the creators, but I couldn’t use it once.

Long story short, I deleted SparkNotes and went to the website. I don’t recommend SparkNotes, but the website is much better.

I’ve been a long time yearly subscriber to this app for $4.99 a year. However, I just noticed today that I am no longer able to access my previously purchased titles in SparkNotes . I contacted customer support with an email, and they promptly replied and gave me a bogus answer saying that maybe I used a different email address when making my purchases. Well, that’s not the case. They are simply ripping people off and should be ashamed of themselves! SparkNotes is useless, worthless, and a scam. Avoid it at all costs! By the way, I promptly canceled my yearly subscription before I began composing this review. Get your ethics together, this app! Quick ripping people off! And how about refunding me the $4.99 you taken from me and for which you have provided no content or access. That’s what a real business would do.

This is an awesome website for studying and final exams, so i thought i’d go ahead and download SparkNotes . To my surprise i had to pay to do anything on SparkNotes . It’s not fair to make me pay for SparkNotes but then let others use the website for free and have unlimited boundaries. SparkNotes is supposed to have upgrades from the website and be easier to use but i’m this case it’s not. I wouldn’t recommend downloading this unless you are willing to pay (being a student i don’t really want to pay for something like this). Stick with the website.

I only got SparkNotes for the translation from the original text to more readable modern text, I signed up to pay every month just for this feature, I opened SparkNotes only to find that the no fear literature feature I’m looking for is not included. SparkNotes is very disappointing, why does it not include the translation when the free online website does! The only reason I even wanted to get SparkNotes was because the website wasn’t working, and now I have no way of reading my book! 😠

I use spark notes almost every day that I need to read a book at school. I normally would use the website. Since I used it a lot I decided to download SparkNotes , but I only found an app that u need to pay for. U get the same benefits as the website, so why would I pay for SparkNotes when I can use the website. Website>App

The other day I was talking to my guidance counselor about my summer reading and the best way to review for the quiz on the book that my school requires us to take. she suggested this and i downloaded it here to my phone to use it here and it tells me i need a subscription. i don't have any money that isn't already used towards other school supplies. this is ridiculous.

Hi,

I need SparkNotes to turn because I can’t turn my iPad with my heads .

I got a disability And I can’t use my hands to turn my iPad.

It frustrating when I buy a new app and it doesn’t rotate on my iPad.

Can you please please SparkNotes iPad rotate please .

I got this assuming it had everything the website had. I’m happy paying $5/a year. Don’t see why they couldn’t offer the works of philosophy that are available on the website.

SparkNotes would get a 5 star rating if I could only purchase a subscription. It’s priced fairly, and I don’t mind paying for the convenience of having the info condensed into an app.

Could you fix this issue please? 5 star rating after this bug is fixed.

I downloaded SparkNotes and paid for it so that i could access the No Fear Literature that it has on the website, but it’s not on SparkNotes ?? It was kind of disappointing because that’s what i really wanted to use SparkNotes for :(

SparkNotes is a FANTASTIC App for lazy unappreciated snobby students who take education for granted and fail to take advantage of the the English literature stories and become knowledgeable while helping them with passing the subject!!
Seriously!!! How is $5 a year expensive!!! So sad the gum chewed by the very students who commented so negativity on SparkNotes as being expensive and not affordable is much more expensive than the price of this well put together app. Yet paying $5/year for an educational app a pinch got them?!!! I mean seriously?!!!$5. How is that expensive? So sad and pathetic. Only if they could fathom the hard work and dedication of what it takes to design an app and the time it with all the valuable content it took to make it!!!
So sad. :-(

SparkNotes is a fabulous and informative educational value pack for all students and none students alike. Helping them catch up on the English literature while enjoying to tap into the English lit, becoming a learned educated person. Trust me try it. It won't hurt or bite you!

SparkNotes saved me hours!!! I just read what would’ve been 70 pages in 5 minutes! This is a must have and it will not let you down! Saved my grades!

I passed every essay/tests in English without reading the books, i just we not on spark notes on the day before and bam, Idk why people are but hurt that SparkNotes cost 5 dollars a year, 1 dollar a moth, 5 dollars for a year i spend more 3x more than that in a day. 5 dollars is really not that much

So many one star reviews because SparkNotes requires a subscription. It is $5/year, and it is much more convenient and easier to use than the website on a phone. If you don’t want to pay the incredibly low subscription price, fine, use the website for free; but that doesn’t justify giving SparkNotes a one star review. I love SparkNotes and subscribe to it every year.

This is an amazing app that I wish I had when I was in HS and College. Instead if I wanted cliff notes I had to go to a book store and purchase actually cliff notes. Yes SparkNotes costs money. Boo hoo. Don’t want to pay? The developer is generous enough to offer the information on their website for free. Want the convience SparkNotes provides? It’s going to cost a little. Think about all the $$ you waste on useless stuff every year compared to a service that will help make you less stupid than you are. Worth it IMO.

This is a great app for people who love reading, and especially for those who’d like some help diving into literary classics.

$4.99 a year (about the cost of an ebook) seems to me a small price for what you get in SparkNotes. Over 500 titles with contexts, overviews, character descriptions, plot summaries and analyses, questions...

If you’ve been intimidated with long novels like War and Peace, Moby Dick, or perhaps had trouble following the style of an author like Faulkner, this app could be the answer for you. It was for me. Thanks, this app! 👍👍😊

Literally nothing about SparkNotes justifies it being subscription-based, especially considering that all the information is available for free on the site. SparkNotes is actually decent but I'm giving it 1 star on principle because of the money-grabbing.

While I think it’s silly to charge for SparkNotes but allow for free on the web, I’m willing to pay. But SparkNotes won’t let me and says “no products available”. SparkNotes Store entry doesn’t even list any in-app purchase options.

Weird.

SparkNotes is great except for that it is made for an iPhone 4/4s. On my iPhone 5, a top and bottom strip on my screen are not used due to the size difference between the iPhone 4/4s and the iPhone 5. In addition, every time you switch apps, it scrolls all the way back to the top of the section you were reading. I could be in the middle of a page, switch apps and then switch back only to find myself back at the top if that page. Please fix. This is a good app to use at school where there is no wifi and horrible cell service.

Also the adds are VERY VERY distracting.
