Basically works. Needs notifications.

I first installed MicrosoftLync2010 today. Easy to set up and I logged in fine. My Lync contacts were all there and I was able to message a few of my coworkers.

However the connection either drops when I switch to another app, or I've had especially bad luck with my network connection. I have all notification types enabled but so far only a badge icon seems to appear and that only after I opened MicrosoftLync2010 and read the new message. Around the same time I got the "missed conversation" email.

App does work with iOS 8.

UPDATE: If you're having issues with MicrosoftLync2010 force closing after you upgraded your firmware to iOS 8, all you have to do is delete MicrosoftLync2010 and reinstall it.

This worked for me and I have an iPhone 6 with 8.0.2.

MicrosoftLync2010 did work well prior to the release of iOS 8. Once you update your phone's OS, MicrosoftLync2010 won't even open. The developers for MicrosoftLync2010 haven't issued an update to their app since April 2013, so I doubt they still support MicrosoftLync2010/will be releasing an update to make this compatible with iOS 8.

Really annoying notification bug

MicrosoftLync2010 would be great if not for the extremely annoying bugs around notifications. The first IM I receive is fine. But any after will notify again for both the old and new. Even if I cleared the conversation or picked it up on the PC. As I get more IMs the notifications multiply until eventually a dozen or more come at once for a single IM. This happened for the previous version too and I was hoping it would be fixed.

Also iPhone 5 and retina support, I mean come on! I would love to go to the 2013 app but who knows when my company will upgrade....

Needs some bug fixes

1. When i receive an IM, i am notified in the banner but it doesn't stay in the banner list that i pull down to see more of the IM and open MicrosoftLync2010 to reply.

1b. When i go to MicrosoftLync2010 to search for the IM, it doesn't appear there at all. It's like it never even happened.

2. Provide iPhone 5 support. Need MicrosoftLync2010 to fit the screen height because typing in MicrosoftLync2010 has me missing the spacebar since the keyboard isn't in it's normal place at the bottom of the screen.

Not very functional

If you are depending on this as a reliable means of communication, I would not! It not very efficient and there does not seem to be a way to configure notifications to let you know you hav a new message. Much more development needed to make this worthwhile. It would seem you hav to have MicrosoftLync2010 open in order to know you have a message and your desktop version needs to be closed in order to receive on your phone.

Works good but...

I like MicrosoftLync2010, as it is supported by my organization, but its not optimized for the bigger iphone 5. If they could at least stretch MicrosoftLync2010 so that it uses all of the screen, itd be perfect. But instead it thinks im using the old iphone and thus shows less screen area. I often mistype a lot of words as a result. Where the keyboard should show up at the very bottom of the screen, its moved up a bit. Id use lync 2013, but my company doesnt yet support it. 3 stars

Helps me be mobile and still available

Great way to keep connected with my enterprise team. Nice UI, good use of iPad layout.

Issue: when I'm mobile, desktop users complain that messages to me fail although I get about 50% of them. Makes me not totally trust being mobile.

Idea: Integrate with corporate digital phone system (cisco, etc) so I have true VoiP when traveling internationally.

Full screen support for iPhone 5 & bugs

For a company with >$25B a year in operating income is it really that much for us to ask? The iphone 5 came out more than a year ago. Yes I'd love to use Lync 2013 but we're an office 365 and hosted lync customer and our provider still hasn't updated to Lync 2013 plus... every screen on my Lync 2010 iphone app says in yellow 'can't connect to exchange web server. You can try again later' and I do but the error never goes away. So lame and frustrating. We're now switching to ring central and have given up on lync for voice.

Kinda works . Mostly crap .

Well , I appreciate that MS has a lync app for iphone , but don't expect it to be good enough for business .

Most of the time I receive notifications of a message but it's not in the Lync app. I have missed countless messages .
So "sorry I was on mobile, can you resend" becomes the norm.

Most of the time I get an annoying server error but it's still "working".

If you are logged into pc and mobile app... Well .. Good luck to you.

If you need something stable , try google hangouts . Otherwise you can waste time chasing messages from people.

Lync is going crazy!

I've had MicrosoftLync2010 for a while and for some reason it's freaking out lately. Even when I'm signed out on my phone, I'll get ALL the messages I would get on my computer popping up on my phone. Also, not only do they come through when they shouldn't, they come through double for each ping! It's awful! My phone starts blowing up w all these messages and then I go to clear them from lync app and it shows me I have to log in! Bizarre-please provide an update that addresses this!

Works fine for me.

MicrosoftLync2010 is simple, and while I would like more functionality I haven't had any issues using it with my company. It would be nice if they bundled Lync 2010 compatibility into 2013 and kept it up to date. Those of use who's companies only support 2010 are stuck on this old version.

I guess you don't care…

For the love of God, could we please get some iPhone 5 support and update the graphics for retina display?! Retina has been out for almost three years now. Did you task a nine year old with the job of coding this pos? Maybe some executive's kid? It's hard to believe you guys released another update and it's the same crappy thing. At least with the desktop version you guys bundle the same crappy thing with a new UI

By

C'mon

I get it that you guys do not want to play well with Apple... but I have an iPhone and an iPad. So do all of my users in my company. I can view conference video on these devices with ALL of your competitor’s products. I am sorry that I moved my company off of Web-Ex and onto Lync... In an effort to push out Apple, you might just push out your software customers who do play well with Apple. Also, how long has iPhone 5 been out? Food for thought.

Awesome but needs improvement

Overall I like the idea of using Lync on iPhone but it need to be able to send notifications and designed to fit iPhone 6

By

Works!

Simple and it works! Not sure why there's such a low rating. You just have to get necessary information from your company to connect.

By

I hope the notifications are fixed

I really want to use 2013 version but my company uses this version. Hopefully this update fixes the notifications issue

By

Love it! Only able to use this version

It keeps prompting me to upgrade but this is ONLY one that works on Iphone so will not. Please do not remove this version. Works great

By

Works Great!

No problems with my iPhone 5. I may be missing something here, but it works great and I'm not expecting much more. I just want it to do the job, and it does.

When is the next update?

Lync 2013 looks nice, but not all organizations are running 2013 servers. This version has not been updated since last year and does not sync conversations with the server. If you don't tap the notification when a message comes in, you're SOL with that conversation. You have to annoy the sender and start a new conversation to respond. C'mon Microsoft.

By

Poor support

Many organizations still use Lync Server 2010 and will not upgrade to 2013 for some time. Therefore, Microsoft should consider maintaining support for this version of Lync (as the 2013 client version does not support Lync Server 2010). MicrosoftLync2010 absolutely needs the notification and synchronization bugs fixed. Also, compatibility for the iPhone 6/6+ screen size would be appreciated.
