I've been using Pearltrees for many years.

It performs as advertised if you use it on the PC; if you use it anywhere near its promised capacity on mobile, it's barely usable (the quantity of material I've got is considered to be the cause, I'm at 12% of capacity).

Crashes more often than not; "Premium support" has been promising a fix for almost a year. I was a "power user"...

I thought Pearltrees looked good, but when I went to try it, I couldn't do anything without setting up an account. I absolutely hate this trend toward apps that make you give info about yourself before you can even try Pearltrees to see if you really want it.

So I went back to Pearltrees Store to re read Pearltrees description and reviews. As I often do, I brought up the most critical reviews. That was how I learned that user's this app and profiles are public by default -- and you have to pay $30 yr to keep your info private! And some of the reviewers had only learned this when they were contacted by complete strangers on line.

I think it is outrageous for a developer to insist on your giving them personal information just to try out the product. Moreover, I think it is devious of a developer to make info public by default without clearly saying so.

Tried to type in boxes but text didn’t show up even though curser was moving...has worked years before and seemed like an okay program.

I spent at least an hour transferring images from Pinterest (it took up 30% of my space) and it immediately slowed my iPad way down. Not just Pearltrees was slow (I had to scroll very slowly so it wouldn’t crash immediately, although it still crashed every few minutes), but literally my entire iPad lagged.

Also there needs to be more explanation for the hold/drop functions. Too many times I accidentally sent hundreds of photos somewhere else, including into the Dropbox where I had to replace them all individually which took ages. I couldn’t figure out if there was a way to transfer all the Dropbox stuff back into the collection all at once. Anyway, a tutorial for how to maneuver would be nice.

That said, I really like this service and it seems much more useful to me than Pinterest for my needs. I’m going to check out the website to see if I can use it there, but I’m bummed Pearltrees is such a space hog. I use my Pinterest board almost exclusively on my iPad, so it’s gonna be a real pain having to log onto a desktop to send specific images back to my iPad when I need them.

Developers, please please please fix the crashing problem. I love Pearltrees and am willing to go Premium as soon as it’s fixed.

I liked posting a note to define a branch but wish you could cut and paste instead of entering text from scratch.
Also, when you want to shoot off an email to share the tree cut and paste does not work but manual type in is required :(
Although a pdf can be entered in slideshare and then linked to ideally, removing this step requiring an alt. site would be a plus.
Want to have different images for starting points of pearl branches and locate them at branches deeper into the tree instead of just at the start. A prompt for size of image files would be useful. I know it is in FAQ but not at the task step.
Many I show this app to comment that it is not explained well enough at the front end. FAQ is very helpful but a bit of helpful text in bubbles to help get started would be another plus.
Like the look of branched bookmarks very much.

Love this program, but how about getting the arrow keys on Logi keyboard (iPad6) to work properly with the program!
What happened to the ability to enter text in different colors?

I've had it all of 3 days. Day 1, surprised at the many steps required to install but directions are clear and concise and worked perfectly. Fell in love with app within about an hour. Day 2 installed extension on all my PCs and Macs at home and work ( desktops and iPads). Sent " super highly recommend " to my tweeter followers and iPad peeps. Sat up until midnight Christmas idea shopping and pearling away! Day 3 still in love love love with Pearltrees. I've got branches for everything from PLNs to people ( ie one for my son that goes to everything from toys he wants to educational websites to his school login page etc). I installed it on my partners iPad and if she can use it anyone can!! Take away message..download it, follow install carefully, and start pearling!!!

I’m an educator who’s used this app in earnest since the start of the year. It seems that most every week, I discover useful new websites by exploring the this app of others who’ve added similar bookmarks. This social feature sets this app apart from other bookmarking services. I also like the way you can quickly set a bookmark on the fly, and categorize it later. Finally, I can create private collections for details such as help forum webpages and other minutia that’s difficult to keep track of with traditional bookmarks, and isn’t likely to be of interest to others.

I downloaded Pearltrees about a year ago, but honestly couldn't figure out how I would use it.

My high school went to a 1:1 iPad school over the course of the past year, and my teaching style has shifted to a more group oriented, collaborative style.

I finally figured out to use Pearltrees! My advanced classes are blogging this year and Pearltrees turned out to be the PERFECT place to link all of us together to read and comment on each other's blogs! I curated all of them and gave my students my user name. They requested a connection to me and they are able to follow the group this way.

In my general ed classes, we have teamed up to create and share learning playlists in our content. After creating their playlists, we can all learn from each other in this one place. I will probably use this in my advanced classes the same way.

I highly recommend Pearltrees to other educators. It is great for flipped classroom and a more traditional, but technology rich classroom as well.

Huge impact in my life. Gone are the days of saving URLs in special folders or bookmarking them in a tool bar. With Pearltrees you can store and save anything that ever interests you on the web, and pearl into a visual map where you can easily access it and describe each article/web page.
Its like an infinite cyber extension of your memory.

Cons: The only cons are not in Pearltrees itself, but with the program design. It would be better if you could "sticky note" the web page you are saving, so that you can write up a few things that you want to remember from the pearl: summary of info, why you saved it, etc.
The last con has to do with accesibility, often times i pearl so much that its hard to remember where i placed the pearl, and with so many limbs on my pearl tree it takes a few minutes to find it, so if they could develop a simple way where you can see a "pearl history," which allowed for easy access into your last pearled items, that would make the experience much better.

It makes information clean and neat and beautiful. It also helps you find connections you did not think of by showing you what is related. As a writer I can create a pearl tree on a subject and find what I am missing by what it shows me in related pearls. For instance my girl is an artist but I have no art links appearing, I need to add art pearls to her pearl. Or jewelry pearls because she wore amazing jewelry. It combines mind mapping with favorites. It is more than storage. It is a tool. A really genius tool and the more people add the better and more refined it will be. I am so excited to have found this little app! For students I think it would be a tremendous research resource.

this app is a well designed way to organize all the data I come across daily that fits into the various projects I have going at any one time. It's fast, it's intuitive (yes, really!), and it has a social sharing function that at first I didn't think I'd need or want.

I mean, how often do colleagues come into my office and start rummaging through my paper files? And I'd be embarrassed to have them looking at how random and disorganized the bookmarks are on my computer!

But this app has looked into my brain at how I gather data around areas of highest neural density and metaphorically called those"pearl trees."

When I am out in the oceanic depths of the internet "pearl diving," my treasures get immediately hung on a "Pearl Tree" of my own labeling.

Later, when working on a project, all my "pearls of wisdom" are waiting in one named place for me.

What is also great is that I can access the this app of others, but I leave that for you to discover on your own; after all, life must have a bit of poetry and mystery!

This is a fun and easy way to organize any of your notes. Usually when I find an app that can organize my notes it is really dull and boring to go back to, which makes me never use it. this app app changed the game, I can actually use a note taking app now that it is so simple and creative. My favorite part is that you can set each pearl a different picture, this also changes the picture of the background. If I had to add one thing to this application it would be the ability to add more photos in a single pearl. Right now you can only add one photo, but I'll have a 5 page packet on the same material. I rather not make a pearl per page. Please add this to the next update that would help so much! Other than that I love it so far!

The bad reviewers are giving low ratings for dumb reason. Like not wanting everyone seeing your to do list... I though it was about finding and bookmarking things. You want a private to do list there are apps for that as we. Another person gave it a poor rating and review because he didn't get the gold in a game he was promised by downloading the FREE app. That's the game developers fault. Not pearl trees.

I think Pearltrees is fantastic and it's free. It's a great way to keep and organize the sites you like by starting your own trees or finding and joining others already filled with things you like. As other people add pearls you have more content to view without doing anything more than opening Pearltrees . It's a cool looking way to organize your sites of interest.

I use this app primarily for my elementary school students. I've tried a number of other visual bookmarking tools (Evernote, educlipper, Symbaloo, and others). Evernote is hands down my favorite app, but you can't use the web version on the iPad and I can't download apps on the student iPads. I didn't like the educlipper interface, web or mobile (I'm not a fan of Pinterest) and it kept crashing on me. Symbaloo prioritizes smaller tile sizes, so the names of the bookmarks are short and you can't screenshot the site or file.

this app shows the clipped site, is easy to use in both web and mobile versions. It is similar to Evernote, except that it can be cured mobile devices without Pearltrees . I can also share the pages without my students needing to sign up or sin in. This will be my go-to bookmarking app for school.

I am super OCD about leaving myself little reminders about absolutely everything from my errands and grocery shopping list to my movie collection and project ideas. I have a habit of taking a screen shot or pic as a quick reference and then using several apps to keep everything organized but Pearltrees has replaced them all without losing the user-friendliness and simplicity. Now I can not only find the info I am looking for but can search through it all without having to know what I am looking for first. I AM IN LOVE! Thank you so much to all the developers for creating an app that has multiple ways add/organize any kind of info while keeping the layout simple! I have tried hundreds of organization apps over the years and this one beats them all by a long shot! And the selling point right away was that I could navigate through and use Pearltrees as soon as I downloaded it!! I use it every single day and it has saved me a whole lot of time and energy!!! : )

Love this app! I’ve been a member since 2012 and use the premium. It’s great to organize bookmarks, files, photos and more! The design is very easy to organize, and a fantastic organizer!

Finally couldn’t stand the Promoted Pins and Picked for you Pins any longer! My feed was a MESS! Please please PLEASE don’t do that to us this app!! Transferring all my pins over was time consuming but simple-wish there was a better way to do this (maybe there is?🤷‍♀️). Anyhoo, if it wasn’t for the constant annoyance to upgrade every time I log in I’d give this 5 stars. If I used it more I’d definitely pay to upgrade. It’s not that expensive and I still might. I love it!
