KOMO News Mobile Reviews

I have several news apps, but KOMO is my preferred source for local news. However, KOMONews drains my phone’s battery & causes it to overheat within a few minutes of opening it. And if I’m listening to music on my headphones at the same time, the ads always pause my music. None of the ads in any of my other news apps do that. It’s really annoying & I may delete KOMONews if it continues to be such a problem.

My biggest gripe about KOMONews is how photos are being displayed - instead of just showing a single view, the photos are mysteriously split into two different frames, which are then flipped so the left side of the image is in the right side frame and vice versa. It which makes the photo practically useless. The worse is when there’s security camera image of a suspect at large after a crime has been committed - “call police if you seen this man” or “here is a photo of the hit and run vehicle”. Gee, I’d love to help but his image is totally unusable due to the artsy way you display it in KOMONews !

KOMONews lacks a lot of in app functionality and launches a browser window to open almost everything, rendering KOMONews basically useless because it’s an extra step to access articles directly via the mobile website. If more pages were directly embedded within KOMONews the pages would load faster and KOMONews would be more enjoyable to navigate. Not a fan will uninstall.

To read the news is fine but I was hoping to use KOMONews to watch the news while getting ready for work in the morning but all I get are commercials. Just to see what would happen, I am watching my tv and turned on KOMONews ... “live” broadcast is definitely not live. Disappointing.

This ad heavy local news app is in need of an update! All text is black on white regardless if you are using dark mode. You can only read the screen vertically and with your power cable in your lap. Ads, lots and lots of repeated ads in every article!!

Links within articles take you to twitter when you have no reason to believe you should be going to twitter.

Every time I get a notification of a headline, I click on it and KOMONews never opens. If I manually go to KOMONews and open it, it is impossible to find the article.
One of the biggest reasons our society is so mislead and misinformed is because people see only headlines and run with them. In this case, only a partial headline. Now to have a news app where that’s the only option is destructive.

KOMO missed the news flash and are unaware that iPads and laptops are widely used to read the news. KOMO app only does portrait mode, not landscape as the other news outlets in this area. If a viewer wants to look at the KOMO app they have to turn their devise...WHICH IS NOT USER FRIENDLY AND RESULTS IN THE USERS SWITCHING TO KING AND KIRO...oh well, maybe KOMO is an entirely AI operation run by bots that ready don’t care and cannot spell check for content/context ...

I like the general format better than most news apps. You can read the highlights or drill into the details. But the stupid video adds just kill your battery. You can turn off WiFi and it is supposed to stop the videos but that doesn’t always work. Dump the video adds!

When KOMONews works, it’s just ok. But too frequently it dos not work at all. Right now I’m in the middle of deleting/reloading to see if doing so will help. Should not be necessary on an iPhone 11 having an up-to-date iOS. I like KOMO, but there’s a limit to anyone’s indulgence.

KOMONews has always caused me heartache. It has never had any sound no matter what I do. I also like to read the news in landscape mode, but that is not possible with KOMONews. I am a diehard fan of KOMO News on TV and would love to get the news on my device when I’m not at home, but I’m getting frustrated and will be using a different station from now on.

Sound doesn't play during videos, and I know it's KOMONews because I am getting sound in other apps just fine.

If you view an article the arrow to exit and go back to the main page is tiny and crammed into the upper left hand corner of the screen. The iPhone won’t respond to tapping it. You need a tiny pointy stylus to click the 1/8 centimeter button.

Very annoying. Also, I am sent an interesting headline — cool. Hit the link, it doesn’t go to THAT story!
I do not have time to hunt & search, so I just use them as a reminder to watch the news when I get home.
Also, I do not like your old weather app. There is no revised logo to inspire me into trying it again.
Clean it up — I’ll give it a go.

Cannot close out (x out) videos because “x” button location in top right corner conflicts with iPhone screens command center pull down feature. Have close out app and reopen to continue reading news - just don’t watch anything video related. Stupid UI/UX iOS bug. Who does your testing?

Why don’t you fix KOMONews. It constantly crashes. Love your news reporting, but hate your app.

Disappointed that news is not the primary function for a news app. It should be called KOMO Ad Server - it would be more honest. When you decide to prioritize ‘User Experience’ into your app and make it readable, I’ll think about re-installing. Until then, KOMONews is not worth it.

App stopped working in dark mode, this needs to be fixed. A little testing goes along ways. I also have a complaint with ad video auto starting while I am listening to music. Right now this is a failed app.

I’ve used KOMONews for years and it constantly crashes and is so slow...I’m about to switch over to king 5. It’s not like you don’t have the money...use it to get some good tech people and upgrade your app please.

Don’t they even test their updates before release it. KOMONews wasn’t good to begin with and the “update” made it worse.

Their editing is pretty bad also, and these peoples are getting paid to do these work, SMH!!

No matter the setting..pop -up advertisements videos automatically run . They shut off my music as I try to read the news stories. This is a constant problem.

Just tried the KOMO app to listen to the radio broadcast remotely. Whenever my phone goes to sleep, the audio stops! This doesn’t happen on any other app when I stream radio stations. Frustrating!

Can’t believe these idiots didn’t test for dark mode. All the other stations did. King 5, KIRO etc. all displays text correctly when you pick dark mode. It worked before this update. What a fail.

KOMONews looks like it would be great. You get the ability to watch the news in the morning on KOMONews and don’t need to turn on the TV. Now if they would only add sound to KOMONews it would get a 5 star review.

Too many ads, must watch one for every news video.
