Doesn’t work

I have two pedals that are compatible with TonePrint, the Hall of Fame 2 and the Flashback 2. I’ve had these pedals for years and loved them, but TonePrint has not been functional since the day I bought them. Any time I have checked in on TonePrint, it has crashed upon loading or selecting a pedal type. The pedals aren’t useless without TonePrint , but it would be really nice to have this as an option to get more out of the pedals, especially since it is a selling point in the marketing materials.

Still beta testing with no manual or customer support

I hate to say anything bad about TC Electronic, because I have nothing but respect for their hardware and think the idea of being able to program your own presets is nothing short of awesome... But, this software falls way short of what I would expect from a company that is in some ways, leaps ahead of the competition as far as innovation goes. So here are my beefs and a few humble suggestions:

1) You should be able to save TonePrints that you create and copy them from one device to another.

I can’t believe they didn’t get this yet, but if you create something on your PC or iPad, there’s no way to copy that this app to your iPhone. If nothing else gets fixed, get this one!

2) On the same line, it would be nice it if you could retrieve the TonePrints from the pedal so you could edit them again or just identify what was in that slot. I’ve already found that I’ll forget what voices are in what slots, once the editor is disconnected.

3) There’s no manual!!! This is maybe my biggest pet peeve. There’s absolutely no frigging manual. To top it off, the customer support at TC Electronic is awful. This could be remedied if they had some good documentation, but right now, there’s nothing.

Technically, there are times when the this app Editor and the pedal don’t sync up when connected by the USB cable, but I’m sure that’s in the manual, somewhere.

New app freezes

When I connect my Flashback II to my iPad Pro or iPhone 8+ using the Apple Camera Interface, TonePrint says to turn the knob to a this app slot to sync, and then freezes. All software is the most recent.

ALSO: I have tried registering this product and filing a support request through your website. Both times, I got all the way through the process, only to receive a URL NOT FOUND error.

Good pedals, but the software is lacking

TC Electronics really needs to focus on developing their this app app so that it’s functional, or else just abandon the this app concept altogether. Users need an way to transfer TonePrints between laptops, mobile devices, etc. What good is it to edit a this app on the laptop but then not be able to copy it to my mobile device so that I have access to it while performing? We need to be able to tweak TonePrints in the library, not just those we make ourselves. The whole template idea could work if it were implemented better; too hit and miss when trying to find just the right template. They also need to fix their customer support. I’ve tried creating a MusicTribe account 4 times now with no success, and I’m a software engineer!

This killed my HOF pedal

I’ve used this app for over three years with my HOF reverb pedal. I had my pedal plugged in safely to a center negative 9v, in and output jacks plugged in correctly, selected a new reverb tone and hit ‘beam to pedal’ my pedal flashed green and then it died. The manufacturer’s app killed it’s own pedal. As much as I’ve loved this pedal not sure I’m confident enough to go this route again and get a replacement HOF. I’ve got an adorable little paperweight now. Thanks this app!

This app doesn’t work

I can’t overstate how disappointed I am in TonePrint. It plain doesn’t work. It causes my Hall of Fame two pedal to shut down and restart multiple times,It doesn’t store tone prints in my petal, even though it is connected via the USB to lightning adapter, And beaming doesn’t seem to work either. I love the sounds that are available within TonePrint but truthfully TonePrint itself is kind of garbage.

Won’t even open now

Before it was pretty decent, it took many moons to load but once it was loaded it worked well. Now that it’s been updated it’s been trying to open for a good 20-25 minutes with no success. Kind of annoying because their pedals are great and they put a lot of time into making patches with incredible musicians to have a piece of software which makes it useless. It’s a shame I really hope it gets fixed soon because I loved using it

Favorites have disappeared. Not cool.

Please don’t update your app with new features. Update it to make the existing features work! I have 6 this app pedals and when I painstakingly went through all of the great artist TonePrints over a period of several years, I marked them as favorites. Idk, maybe dozens that I don’t remember. Yes, I can use the knobs on the pedals to get close to the sounds that I am used to gigging with, but is that what you want for your company. Our pedals sound close to what you’re looking for. Please fix this.

TC Electronics. Decent Pedals / Horrible Software

Last app was #1 on my worst app list. Now its #2 as it made room for this latest app by this app. Not only does TonePrint crash upon loading but the Mac High Sierra app also crashes on opening. I am blown away that a company this large and immersed in the pedal world can have such amazingly awful software. Bad software can only mean one thing... Bad Pedals. Look for a swift decline in sales guys. If it doesn’t work, simply don't offer it as a product. Fix your bugs, luckily TonePrint is free, my time however is NOT. 3 strikes and youuuurrr44 OUT!

Great update but

Guys, thanks a lot for doing a great job bringing TonePrint to life again. This time I have to complain about one little detail, it's that TonePrint needs the Camera Connection Kit from Apple to connect the pedal to TonePrint , this is like a step back from what we want, make our own presets and beam them to our pedals without cables. Please consider the idea of make it work without buying new cables from Apple. Thanks a lot!

Good idea overall, but "blank slots" bug...

TonePrint itself is pretty good, though overall it feels unfinished. Like they got all tech-psyched, then lost interest in actually supporting it. Classic blunder.

Minus TWO stars for the following:

Latest rev (Nov 2020, now) has a bug that blanks-out any previously loaded slot on my Flashback 2 when I USB it to my iPad Pro.

Otherwise, the this app app has worked bug-free for my Flashback 2, Hypergravity (both mini & full), and Sentry.

But other reviewers can't be making this stuff up about their crashes. Hmm. No idea.

My biggest complaint: no way to tell which toneprints and are loaded on your stomp. I read on musictribe support from a customer service rep: this is actually a *feature* to somehow "protect" their famous this app supplying endorsers.

You're simply blocked from viewing the settings you load onto your box.

Apparently Behringer/tc care more about their endorsers than you, the paying customer. Unacceptable.

2290 algorithm misses MASH mapping

There is no MASH mapping for 2290 algorithms though it says it should have a “hold” kind of an effect. The same happened with the MacOS app as well. There I can see that there is nothing mapped to the MASH switch.

Much better UI

The UI is far better than before. I dig it.
As for the editing on mobile thing, you need a camera connector kit for your phone which is a bit annoying. I'd much rather be able to beam edits like any normal this app.

TonePrint did crash on boot up multiple times when I was using it in an area where web access was restricted (school wifi). It works fine at home though.

Amazing update

TonePrint is actually functional now! Well done guys. Keep this kind of stuff coming, don’t stop!

Swipe to go back would be a welcomed feature.

Would also be cool to create a this app from TonePrint and be able to beam it, without having to connect it.

Work fine; iPhone SE and TC BH250 head

This works fine with my phone and amp. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries to load the this app; but it eventually works. Such a great idea; being able to try different (bass) pedals that I would not normally try. I have a feeling that TC tried this as an experiment, and the Plethora idea is great. this app overall a winner for me.

TC ELECTRONICS has done it AGAIN!

You do have to hold your phone close up against the pickups, like flat against them. But it IS like magic. And it’s nice to have a switch that sets the guitar pedal to a setting which works for you and your guitar. Forget all the hate and download! you won’t regret it!

Works great

Im not sure what ios the other reviewer had but mine is working as described, i have the corona chorus mini, i didn't really care for the pedal but thought i would give the tone print a shot, glad i did, its super cool and beams from my phone to my pedal through my guitar pickups, the library is huge, i like the walking on the moon chorus and the original scf chorus flanger totally sounds like eric johnson

So far, so much fun!!!

I have had my pedal for about six months & only now am I getting into the this app feature. It’s amazing how much more you can pull out of this pedal with the this app. I’m hooked. I’ll be getting more TC pedals with this feature for sure. It’s a shame about the bad reviews TonePrint has received. Don’t let them scare you away from trying as it did me at first. I’m truly blown away that my iPhoneX can shoot information through My Seymour Duncan all the way to the last pedal in my signal chain & unlock dormant features.

Incredible!

Get TonePrint! I really don’t know why there are all these terrible reviews. worked like magic for me very impressed. Super simple and easy, tons of free sounds.

Totally reworked app crashes (not anymore!)

Hi TCE!
I was excited about the new version, but it crashes after loading for a while. Even deleting and reinstalling did not work. It moves to the background when crashing, but crashes again when selecting it. I'm on a 7 plus with iOS 11.4.
So I guess this is more of a bug alert than a review. Hopefully, you'll have it worked out soon!

5 hours after writing this, I tested it on my iPad (same iOS version),and it opened just fine. Tested again on iPhone and it loaded and opened! A database snafu? Cloud clutter?

What’s all the hub bub, bub?

These pedals are great and I haven’t had all the issues the people below have had with TonePrint. Enjoy it and try it and then you tell me who’s the a@&&($ here?
