I have had VH1 for a while and thought by now they would have improved it. Watching my reality shows on here is painful sometimes. I have actually rewatched shows on my tv after I had already watched here and realized somehow I missed a whole section of the show. There have been times that I will be watching and for no reason the episode will just start over. Plus most of the time (not all but most) if you leave VH1 then go back in, it jumps back to the beginning of your episode and you have to scroll through to figure out where you left off. The episodes start from new to old but if you are watching episode 3 it automatically goes to episode 2 when you finish instead of going to 4 which makes no sense at all. The commercials are terrible and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat. I understand we have to watch them in order to get the free app but they could at least be normal commercials that you see on TV. Some of these look like my children produced them. I had to sit through 20 seconds of a child swimming and doing flips in a pool with no words, no promoting, nothing. Umm ok. Then they promote stores and events all in FL lol. I’m in NJ and can’t figure out how to change the settings. We get it, Ace Hardware pays a lot to promote with this app! I can’t remove closed caption to save my life which drives me crazy. But you get what you pay for I guess lol thank god for on demand with cable!

Dealing with VH1 takes up so much of your time just to watch one tv show or one episode. I can start off watching a show, cast it to my tv then boom the sound is off but you can hear other parts of the show playing or a commercial playing over it. VH1 will be casting the show and it starts to lag. I’m on the beginning of the show but the sound is on the middle of the show. I click a certain episode then it plays another episode I didn’t select to watch. I have to stop casting, close VH1 , re open VH1 , find my episode, cast it to the tv, then for what, for me to have to do the steps all over again?! This is absolutely frustrating. It should not take you 30 mins to an hour to get VH1 to function just to watch one episode or one show. You’re better off just watching this app straight from your cable Provider because VH1 just isn’t it. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled and I’m have the same issues. Then you would expect the next episodes to continue, nope the current episode that you’re watching will play at least 5 times before VH1 just stops casting. I’m definitely deleting VH1 because it’s not worth the hassle.

first off, i love a lot of this app’s programming. i have no issues with the actual content; my qualms are with this trashy app. if you close VH1 for a half second or even pull down notification center (without closing VH1 ) it starts your show over and makes you watch thousands of garbage ads before maybe giving you the chance to fast forward to where you left off. incredibly inconvenient for people with lives that have to check emails, watch the time, etc. even when we’re watching tv. we get it. you want the ad revenue. (and no, the fact that VH1 is free is not an adequate justification for any of this. your users are paying a lot of money to still subscribe to cable in the age of netflix/hulu. and even if your absurd capitalist explanations “justify” the obscene amount of ads, there’s absolutely no excuse for having such a useless, nonfunctional app when clearly your users are crying out for changes to be made and, again, WE ARE PAYING MONEY TO ACCESS THE CONTENT ON VH1 .) now please give us a functioning app or drop the false pretenses and admit you don’t care about anything but profit

I personally love this app and all of the shows that it airs. I personally don’t always have the time to watch my favorite shows live which is why I downloaded VH1 . I’ve have VH1 for well over 6 Months and honestly no matter how many times there’s an update the problems never seem to get fixed. Often times in the middle of watching a show the sound will cut off and video will just play on its own, when I try to rewind I get hit with a bunch of commercials I don’t feel like watching. Speaking of commercials, VH1 plays too many of them & they all seem to be the same exact commercials that honestly gets so tiring. With this new update, if I were to accidentally lock my phone or interrupt the show in any way the entire thing starts over from the beginning and as I fast forward I have to sit through the same boring commercials. You have to have a lot of patients when dealing with VH1 but truth be told it’s honestly easier to just watch a show live on tv.

I pay for my cable service so I don’t understand why after signing in that there’s like 20 commercials for a 40 minute show. If I get a text or a phone call the show starts all over again and I have to sit through the whole show all over again. Total waste. Other apps that I use on a daily like tlc and lifetime don’t give this trouble. Don’t waste your time with VH1.

I understand that VH1 is ad supported however it is not free of charge because I have to sign in to my cable account that I pay for in order to view your shows. It seems like your response to my first review and to many others is bogus. VH1 isn’t worth the free download. There’s a ridiculous amount of commercials and it doesn’t save the spot. If you receive a phone call or leave out VH1 for any reason the show will restart and you will be forced to sit there and watch it all over again. No one is looking for a nonsense response just fix VH1 . It clearly needs the help based on previous reviews.

This is the main way I watch my shows. But VH1 has major issues for me. While I'm watching a show, sometimes I have to exit out for a moment and once I go back to continue watching, it either starts over from the very beginning or it makes me watch commercials again. And then I have to watch another commercial once the regular break comes up. I'm also trying to watch an episode now and it's telling me "the video is not found or no longer available due to date or rights restrictions". This is a brand new episode that just aired yesterday. None of the other apps that I watch my shows on, have this problem. Please fix this. It's really annoying.

I decided to watch a episode of love and hip hop holiday and boy was it a painful experience, it was so painful deleted VH1 , right before I was painfully waiting for the end. First and foremost, the last 10 mins of the episode had so many commercial breaks, the episode would get interrupted, every 1-2 mins after a argument or highlight for a 2-4 min commercial break...it’s like I was at the end of the episode and I couldn’t even reach the end the last 10 mins had more than SIX: 3-5 mins commercial breaks my blood pressure began to boil and boil and not only that at the end of multiple commercials segments the commercial would just freeze and you would have to press play multiple times for it to restart, hoping that it wouldn’t freeze again...it was so painful, my chest started hurting it took me so long to get to the end of the episode, I literally closed the device and deleted VH1 immediately !!! It’s 2018, a app shouldn’t be this bad from a television company

I love VH1 to watch reality shows however the amount of commercials are RIDICULOUS!! I read a previous review where this app responded saying they are ad supported and that’s how they make it possible for their content to be available to use for FREE. Ummm... HELLO!!!! IF I AM PAYING FOR MY CABLE AND I HAVE TO USE MY TV PROVIDER TO SIGN IN. ITS NOT FREE!!!! Not one show on there is “FREE” to watch when We are paying for cable and using that tv provider to sign in. Im PAYING my bill so I’m able watch my shows on my phone, tablet, etc. when I go out or on road trips. There’s no reason why there should be 20 commercials in a 40-60 min show. Once I watch a commercial my show plays 5 mins then boom another commercial! I think all these TV network apps should cut down on the ads or cut them out completely. If we are all paying for cable, we should be allowed to watch our shows without any interruptions.

Let me preface this by saying I hardly ever write reviews but VH1 is TERRIBLE. Constant issues on both my appletv app and my phone app. Takes FOREVER TO LOAD, if it does at all. It does a RANDOM LOG OUT of my cable account. Doesn’t accurately (by any means) hold where you last left off on a show. Forget trying to go back 10 seconds to catch what you missed or forward to skip “previously on” because it will either FREEZE, go straight to a ton of COMMERCIALS or will SKIP so far ahead you don’t even know what’s happening. Commercials constantly more than any other streaming app. If one of my favorite shows wasn’t on this app I would never touch VH1 again. And judging from tons of reviews over the last several years complaining- it’s clear that they have no intention of fixing VH1. I wish I could give it negative stars as it’s miserable trying to watch my favorite show. 😡

Y’all should really think about the people that don’t have a tv provider because honestly I feel like what’s the point of VH1 If you don’t have a tv provider you won’t be able to watch the shows so really it’s no point of using VH1 and that’s where I think y’all made a mistake at I love the shows but really not a big fan of VH1 I feel like VH1 should be thrown away because of the fact that every one doesn’t have a tv provider when I first got VH1 I was able to watch all the apps now it’s saying the shows are locked becuase of a tv provider y’all should really up date VH1 this app disappointed I really thought I had a good app maybe y’all should do what the Fox now app did you don’t need a tv provider and it lets you watch the shows 5 days after it airs on tv also how am I going to sign in to my tv provider if the cable that I have isn’t listed on there

It would be this one. Right in it’s annoying face. Not only are the commercials the most annoying commercials I’ve ever seen (they play for 4 mins every 5 mins of an episode) but sometimes they get stuck in a loop and I have to reset VH1 and then watch the commercials all over again; sometimes only to get stuck in the same loop. At one point I thought I was in hell because an Everybody Loves Raymond commercial would not stop
looping right at the end of an important episode! I now hate Raymond, and the show title is a lie. It took me an hour to watch 30 mins of a show and I finally had to give up throw my phone in a lake (I don’t live near a lake, it was kind of a far drive) then I had to get a new phone, only to write this review. Thank you for trying, but you owe me a new phone. Also maybe like... try again on VH1 . Just like, all the way back to square one.

I downloaded the this app app so I could cast my shows to my chrome cast instead of watching them on my phone from my cable provider’s app. VH1 is a DISASTER. I only watch RuPaul on VH1 and it takes 2 hours for me to watch an hour long episode. VH1 constantly stops working, and when it restarts, it goes all the way back to the beginning of the episode. When you start an episode, you have adds. When you fast forward, you have adds. There are adds every five minutes. Not to mention how much it freezes and glitches. It literally freezes on adds and keeps playing the same one over and over. The most annoying thing of all is that when I click on an episode, it will play a completely different episode than what I clicked on and I don’t know it until I have already sat through 10 minutes of commercials. 😡

I’ve been using VH1 to watch new episodes and rewatch old shows. VH1 sometimes freezes in the middle of the episode. VH1 won’t show where you left off on the home screen you have to into the show you were watching if you close VH1 . My biggest complaint is how many times the same as shows. It’s absolutely ridiculous to have the same movie ad replay 5 times in a row! Yes same ad 5 times! You really need to change this up it is extremely annoying to not only see the same ad at every break during the show but 5 times in a row! Add new material please.

LOVE this app.....HATE VH1 . I have a pretty tight schedule so to have the convenience of watching my fav shows while at the gym or on lunch break is amazing; if and when VH1 wants to work. While in the middle of the show sound goes out or the sound doesn’t match what’s on the screen Like my other fellow this app app users have previously stated, if you watch the show and something interrupts the show it either freezes or has to start over. It’s honestly annoying as hell and they need to fix it. These clearly are easy fixes so why haven’t these issues been fixed yet? I’ve been using VH1 for years but something has got to change or I’m done watching this app shows. Stop advertising VH1 if you aren’t going to commit to keeping up with maintenance.

VH1 truly deserves a one star for the fact that it has the show I want. I only downloaded VH1 to catch up on Love and Hip Hop but oh my... VH1 is consistently glitching.
It’s always buffering (and I know it’s not my WiFi connection), when you leave VH1 open in the background it continues to glitch, it only recommends every other episode on the season that I’m trying to watch. Whenever I need to rewind I can’t because it will play commercials. I have an Apple TV and I can’t stream it on there because it’s constantly glitching on my tv which never happens with any other app. I can’t get through one minute of my show without a five minute pause every two seconds. This is annoying.
VH1 needs a ton of fixing!

One hour long program I had about 5 breaks it feels. I get that it's same breaks I would have live on TV but those commercials aren't each 100 seconds or more long. I've never felt like I spent more time watching commercials than I did the show. Could be that it's the SAME 3 or 4 ones over and over but it's too much. I use app to watch lots of shows on lots of networks but never felt like it was as much as with VH1. Maybe toward the middle/end of show lower the ads clearly I've sat through them already. You guys need to work something out, especially since I'm logged in with my cable provider that should limit the commercials when compared to someone watching the free episodes. OVER COMMERCIAL THOSE GUYS.

App says I do not have this app in my tv package. Support blames my cable provider and doesn’t actually attempt to figure out the issue. This channel doesn’t even have decent programming except for one or two shows and they make it REAL DIFFICULT to watch that. Save your time and find torrents to download.

Edit: after receiving a much belated canned response...the same response they send to everyone. It makes me feel like they aren’t acknowledging the issue, which is the first thing one should always do. Having worked in customer support for 15 years, I would never advise my trainees to respond with canned messages. I expect VH1 to not censor this review in any way. Others may make a better informed decision about using this product because of my candor.

Run, do not walk, away from this terrible garbage app. VH1 developers should be fired, and the people working for this app should be forced to sit and watch their own content through VH1 .

To watch one episode of a show that I pay for through my cable provider, I sat through, not even joking, 20 minutes of repeating commercials before I even reached the show’s halfway point. VH1 restarts constantly, plays the same low budget commercials over and over, freezes up, and sometimes just won’t work at all.

Wake up, this app. Stop commenting on these posts and reviews, and DO SOMETHING. These reviews all include the same complaints, and go back for YEARS. It is absolutely clear that no one working here cares about their viewers’ experience.

Downloaded VH1 and was immediately disappointed when I attempted to view a this app program. First of all I saw a screenshot that looks like it was from the middle of the show and then I got a blank white screen with sound from the show. I thought it may be a glitch so I closed VH1 and retried loading again. I tried this same “fix” and nothing happened. Same thing happened when I restarted my phone. Have no idea what’s going on with VH1. Clearly other apps are able to stream shows without such problems why is it so difficult to VH1 to work? This is beyond frustrating especially since after a long day all I want to do is relax and catch up on some of the great shows VHI has to offer.

I actually appreciate that there is finally a this app app as I watch much of the content. However I stay very very confused at the lack of quality in VH1 . Even the basics, like video playback. Most interruptions will result in the video starting over. It can be laggy and buffer. Most recently I’ve come across two problems:
1) when I sign in with one service provider, I’m stuck and can not sign into another (I switched cable providers and no am no longer able to access locked videos)
2) for certain shows, when I click the “full episodes” button, it doesn’t work at all and stays on the home screen
Sometimes I can get around these things by deleting and reinstalling VH1 but is shouldn’t have to come to that

The developers need to step their game up. When you use screen mirroring to Apple TV it gets really glitchy especially regarding commercials. Hangs are common, and you have to restart VH1 during each commercial break. And to make it more annoying, they have the volume low for shows so when commercials come on they are super LOUD. And there’s these other commercials that are low budget and some are basically web banners. What’s up with that?

Even when I’m not mirroring to my Apple TV the commercials would repeat 3 times in a row in some instances. Very simple testing would have exposed such a basic glitch. 3 stars until the team at this app gets their game right. Big company with novice level app. Sad!
