I would most likely rate this as a 4 or 5 star app except that you cannot get any help from Everyman.

I have written 4 times by way of their website as once directly to their support address.

No response to any questions. As it is I feel that a 2 star rating is being generous.

This is an application for which the main purpose is to sell “books” of .PGN files - - to be purchased at the rate fo $16 apiece.

It’s useless for trying to replay and study your OWN games.

So it’s worth every penny you pay for it - - - which is NOTHING.

A large selection of ok books in a poor app design. In dire need of serious updates. Board display takes most of the screen and pale blue font for the text!

It’s close to being a 5 stars but it’s very difficult to navigate through lines. Would be nice if rather than saying (see chapter Ad1) and you having to exit the chapter you are in and find that chapter, that you could just click on the (see chapt ad1) and it took you there.

Also mine crashes a lot.

I own Martin Lokander's 'The Open Games with Black'.
I can open it in Chess Viewer on my ipad pro, but not on my ipad mini. I did try 'Restore Purchases', but no luck.

iIt also no longer recognizes the pgn files in my library.

Miserable app, NOT recommended.

This is one of the worst chess apps. I will be deleting it soon.

1. Cant see info on game as I scroll database
2. Horrible interface for navigating variations. Look at forward chess how they do it
3. Pgn doesn’t capture annotations properly
4. All books are too expensive

Best part of ChessViewer is the ability to choose PGN variations via UI. I haven’t seen this in similar apps!

However there are a number of bugs that make this had to use. There’s a reproducible crash when loading PGN that have multiple variations and the scroll view zooms in and dismisses the navigation bar sometimes when tapping in the board.

Pgn files don’t have the option to open in chess viewer anymore

A couple simple things:

-There aren’t enough choices for customizing the board (and none for customizing the pieces). I personally don’t like any of the choices available.

-In the _Move By Move_ books that have questions and answers, it would be much better to have the answers hidden by a fold in the page until we choose to reveal them.

Otherwise, ChessViewer functions fine and I love having the e-books available for download.

I loaded in some PNGs and started going. Really easy to use.

Got to the end of one of the lines in the PNG and wanted to play out a few more moves. However, I can’t find a way to do this. If it were possible to play on beyond lines in the PNG, and then click back to the PNG when done that would be amazing, and definitely 5 stars.

It drives me nuts that the ranks and files aren’t labeled. I get maybe this isn’t needed for more advanced players but isn’t the idea to use this to learn?

As I indicated in my title, this pgn viewer for the price (free ) is the best out there. Sure it can use a little bit of improvements and hopefully the developer has time for that. It does just about everything I expect it to.

I've tried many of the various chess book apps, and this is the one that I utilize the most.

The books are great, and they keeps improving the Chess app!!!

Of the chess e readers I like it best on the limited screen on the phone.

Gotham Chess got me using this for his course and it is great!

Only one improvement I could hope for: stronger engine and more control over its configuration.

I used ChessViewer to prepare my repertoire for my first tournament. It worked great and I got incredible positions out of the opening! 5 stars!

Sometimes crashes when too many pgns downloaded, otherwise great. Maybe add variation compatibility

I literally use my iPad for pgn viewing instead of my pc because I can’t find an app for pc that’s as good as this one.

Hi, I just finished buying some books but they don't appear in my list. They are listed as owned and i tried the two "check for book covers" and download book covers options and they dont do anything. I closed the app and restarted my phone already, so i'm at a loss especially since the app confirms that i own the books.
