Not quite useful
Have been looking for an alternative to the classic “Bookman Pro” which did *exactly* what I needed and nothing more. There are three important features that this one lacks. The thing is, Comics aren’t the only thing I want to read, I store books and manuals, and good luck finding them in this app out of some 1000 document images of the first page, many of which don’t have pictorial front covers. So the first lack is a list by document name. Second thing is organization- there’s more than one way to achieve this, Bookman had multiple bookshelves, so I could have one designed to select by pictorial front cover, and another shelf where I could pick from a list of document titles sorted alphabetically. And lastly, Bookman had an integrated browser you could use to download PDF files directly from the web. Or if not that, if at least there was an online import of some kind where I could use Safari to find a document and download it via some import ability directly into this app. Maybe it has all these features and I just can’t find them, the reader part of this program is fine, but selection, organization, and web integration seems weak.
Definitely the best comic book reader out there not only is it free, it also has no ads The only problem I have is that you can’t change the page layout to read from right to left for manga other than that it’s great
Free, works easily, needs global zoom options
Great free app. Easy to load comics, it works! Needs global zoom settings for portrait and landscape modes. It resets manual punch and pull zoom with each page turn. Needs to offer zoom setting to fill screen horizontally in landscape so I can just scroll up and down and then turn the page, like viewers on windows. Edit: thx for the response, never thought to look there. Kudos for your attention to my concern. Is there a way I could contact you further to discuss feature ideas?
Simple and easy, but I wish a tiny bit more functional
Great app that does what it says, but I wish we could rename files. I downloaded a ton and the names are kinda jumbled so o can’t read any of the tiles before clicking on them. It also messed up the sorting making reading in order a pain. I could fix it myself if I could edit the file names. I also kinda wish I could tap the sides to swipe pages like in iBooks. Other than that, no complaints or notes.
Works, but needs improvement
Edit: my previous complaint was addressed, but I ran into an even bigger problem. It could not display many of my cbz and cbr files correctly. After the cover, it would jump immediately to a page in the middle of the book, getting back to the early pages much later. Other reader apps on both iOS and Mac have no problems with the same files. Deleted this and got Chunky instead, which displayed those files correctly.
This app works great
It is a great app. I just wish there was a way to edit the metadata of a comic in the app. It is annoying to have to retransfer the file just to change a little bit of metadata. It is still hands down the best free comic book reader on iPhone.
Just one thing…
Fast, minimalist, responsive, no ads. Pretty good app in general, but it’s missing persistent zoom between page changes. Kinda annoying to have to manually zoom in every time.
Clean and simple. If you don't want the extra frills this is the reader app for you. Easily drop in your favorite book/comic from Dropbox and enjoy. Thanks for a great reader with a clean interface!
Just missing persistent zoom, and I am shore it will be updated for iPhone X soon overall love it no adds for a free app nice!
I used to have an incredible app called “Bookman” that I used before iOS 11 removed 32 bit compatibility. I’ve basically been stuck without a good enough comic book reader for my drug of choice, this is not as customizable as Bookman but it get the job done and helps with my withdrawal.
New update ruined it.
For whatever reason I cannot swap back to the library. I can’t swipe or tap back. I have to force close, then I have a small window of opportunity before I can get back to the library. I have an iPad Pro iOS 12.1. I’ll probably end up abandoning this app if the next “update” doesn’t address this mess up.
Great app but wish there was a way to change reading direction to right to left/top to bottom
I love it! No ads, easy file name changes, reordering of my issues, simple import and export. Perfect.
Awesome! Add more information for new users
This is a great comic book reader. However, you should add more details on how to open comics in the app. If you have comics in your iCloud then just select this application when to open it in it. 9/10!
It does exactly what it's supposed to, though it has some flaws.
It provides the essentials and supports popular comic book formats perfectly well. The app itself does not have ads, which means you can read in peace, not have your screen cluttered, and keep your cell data usage in check. This app is not perfect. As of iOS 9.1, you will have to exit and re-enter the app to get it to load comics correctly. The app also does not support LZMA compression for cbz files as far as I've tested.
