Awful

This was very unhelpful.
I was having troubles with my fish tank and didn't know what to do . I found AquariumAdviceForums and thought my problems would be gone, nope.
First AquariumAdviceForums is confusing as hell I don't even know where to post my question because of the layout. It told me I had to be a higher level owner to post questions.
Secondly, it made my phone glitchy, you would click AquariumAdviceForums and it would freeze your phone. Then you turn your phone off and your home screen is all screwed up as in you can't get back on the phone until you turn it off again.

If you want "aquarium advice" Don't ever come to AquariumAdviceForums. 👎

I can’t upload any photos

This is nice to have, but I got the latest iPhone XR and I can’t upload any pics. I see the attachment options, but only after I submit a response when my keyboard disappears. I can respond, but can’t upload anything else.

Great app, even better community

AquariumAdviceForums itself is pretty good, I am fairly new to AquariumAdviceForums I will say upfront however I have been using the computer version for a while now. I don't quite understand some functions such as your "permissions". For example I am a registered member and when other members post things it does not allow me to reply to them as I "do not have permission". How you get permission is beyond me and at the moment I can only reply to my own posts. For this and a few other reasons I couldn't give AquariumAdviceForums 5 stars HOWEVER, the community on AquariumAdviceForums is no doubt deserving of 5 stars, extremely helpful and happy people and for that reason alone I suggest AquariumAdviceForums to anybody in the aquarium hobby.

Don’t waste your time

I loaded AquariumAdviceForums . I wanted to reply to a post. I got a error message saying you don’t have permission to reply. This is after I registered.

Fish snobs and know it alls.

I went on their and posted a basic question about stocking an aquarium I was belittled for my lack of knowledge of this hobby. The answers where condescending and sarcastic. These people hide behind a keyboard. When I challenged not the content but their tone and attitude. I was reprimanded. When I challenged the moderators reasoning. I was given some kind of negative mark. Being that when I was chastised it was mentioned that the site does not permit anything offensive. I brought up to the moderators an image that pokes fun at Jesus Christ. They said it was just a joke. Being far from religious I let it go. Especially when I found out that the image belonged to one of the moderators who was trying to sanction me.
I stayed off for awhile and then posted a thread on the difference between two fish and I added three pictures which I got from a google search of the fish's name. It was two fish and a woman in a devil costume. It was far from provocative. But those were the top three images that came up. Needless to say I was banned from the site. When I got a private message saying the the picture was offensive and I told them to shove it.

Good start - needs more

The rough outline is pretty good, thanks for a helpful app that can make cbt more accessible to many!

The "therapist" pictures are annoying - can you opt out entirely?

Need to be able to record how you talk(Ed) backlot an automatic thought (other reviews have noted this). I'm hoping an upgrade will add more abilities for note taking.

I haven't yet found how to review and track records of automatic thoughts

Please keep going and enhance this!

So powerful to have this in a smartphone app!

Killer app would be to be able to interview using speech and record as well as use Siri or other technology to convert into categories and then have all the data reviewable - a powerful cbt log to help bring awareness! (Some tracking must be in app already)

Want to be able to sync and access this
Data across my phone iPad web as well as share with others - some tough privacy stuff there I'm sure.

Please keep going! Great start! I'd give it 5 stars if some of these items were there (may revise my review later if I find there are some). Will buy a pro upgrade for more features.

Good application. Fantastic Forum

This is a fantastic forum. The members are a great source for ideas and suggestions, and there are plenty of regular contributors keeping this forum active.

The application itself is good. It could be better. You cannot update your profile within AquariumAdviceForums , which sounds pretty picky, but you'd be surprised how often a little adjustment if you switch out your equipment or aquatic life.

Great Way to Keep Up in The Go

I've been a forum member for years now and I just started using AquariumAdviceForums to manage my posts. It couldn't be more convenient. I see other comments about using AquariumAdviceForums to update profiles, but I don't see AquariumAdviceForums as meant for that. It's a quick way to find and keep up with your posts. I don't think it was ever intended to totally replicate the full interface online. Let's realize it for what it is. And for that, it gets five stars!

Wealth of Information

The site has great people who love answering questions. Lots of planted tank enthusiast (my hobby) from all over the world. AquariumAdviceForums itself just makes using the site so much faster than Safari. It's easy to view pictures, comment in posts and keep up with my subscribed threads. I haven't ventured into the saltwater side much but it's probably even more active than the freshwater.
I use it every day on my old iPod touch 3 and never had a single issue.

Horrible people

The mods are extremely rude. I posted a thread and i didnt get any responses so i made a different thread in a different section. A few minutes later i got a warning message about reposting threads and i nicely told the mod that i didnt know the rules very well and it was an honest mistake. I then received an infraction notice and i replied that i didnt understand why. I then got another infraction notice from the owner. The conversation then got a bit heated. I started being more aggressive and i kept saying that it was an honest mistake. They said i was being rude and that i was breaking the rules. I then got a lifetime ban. I got banned for making an honest mistake. Very rude and ridiculous people.

Good people!!!

I joined the site in June and have been on the past two months, it's a great site! I love it and has been a great help for me :)

Please don't think we are being mean and rude and vicious when we are asking you. We are just as concerned about your fish as you are. Some of us have some stronger opinions and thoughts and personalities than others so that is why.

Do not believe everything that maxcock wrote. I replied to that thread and it got out of hand. The members were trying to be as polite as possible. It was eventually closed because of disagreement. That is just one thread, compared to all the others where several members have been helpful and respectful and tolerant, and have helped tremendously.

Hope to see you on the site soon! :)

Mostly good app!

I believe this system is to rate this particular app, not the particular forum it gives access too.

AquariumAdviceForums has had a few stability issues, but overall is a very convenient means to access that forum. Speaking of which, I find mostly constructive and supportive posts there, but I will allow that a mod or two can get a bi overzealous at times, but overall- very good place for aquarium advice.

Good but a little lack of discipline.

I love AquariumAdviceForums for it's information and the people that know what they are doing. However you will pick up real fast on "know it all's" and people who think it's their way or no way. You will find very nice people but also some very "snappy" people that just makes AquariumAdviceForums unpleasant. Their are also people that are "showoffs" that like to brag and think they are "perfect". There are people who look at every post and will cut out somethings but it is easy to tell that they have favoritism towards certain people. Excluding those kinds of people, overall great app!

Great for accessing the forums

I use aquarium advice all the time to access the forums, and it works almost as well as using a computer. My only complaint is the time it takes to load up some images. I can't seem to tell what makes some take longer, as I think the forum automatically resizes them.

Best Way to Tap Experience

This is the most efficient way that I have found to connect with others who have, in all likelihood, experienced a problem or question like yours before. Keeping aquaria is a hobby and experience best done in consultation and connection with others, and this makes it easy and quick to do so.
