Every time I login it asked for the VIN will not work

I have completed the process and Nissan emailed me and said my car was accepted into the Nissan connect program. However, every time I try to login on NissanConnect it request the Vin number which is a 17 digit number character string having to enter it repeatedly is not that easy.I have done this at least 10 times and every time it says that VIN number is already added. It will not let me access NissanConnect by just logging in. It keeps asking for the VIN number over and over again and giving me the same message that we already entered. So I effectively I’ve never been able to use NissanConnect . In addition, there is no option on the home screen to contact for any kind of support or help. Thirdly whoever designed the low contrast, black background with dark blue text log out and send buttons at the top of the page probably hadn’t had a lot of Design training. It’s almost invisible.

Missing EV Consumption Reports and Spotty Reliability

Ever since the December update, reports about the ev consumption stats have been missing entirely. The heading still has activity and reports, but only leads you to an activity page that is usually blank (when it does work it shows you when you last remotely locked your car, flash your lights, etc through NissanConnect and that’s not useful at all). The bulk of what I was using NissanConnect for was to double check if my car was charging and how much charge it had (which that part of it was down for a week+ recently so current statuses couldn’t be seen) as well as checking my consumption per drive, day, week etc so I could see how much my commutes were costing and seeing how different driving behaviors were affecting my driving. The reports are a very key feature here that needs to be fixed and brought back right away.

May be worse than useless

Let me list the problems:
1. Could not register at the dealership when we purchased the car. Nissan requires paperwork such that the numerous pieces of paper we signed to purchase the car did not satisfy them.
2. It took two weeks once we did get the right piece of paper to activate the service.
3. Although we were supposed to get premium service as a trial till mid-summer only the basic service was activated.
4. Customer service was a lot of things but service was not one of them.
5. After a few months of basic service NissanConnect failed to update. This seemed to cause the car not to be able to charge consistently. The car now will start to charge but then randomly stops. This started at the same time NissanConnect failed to update. NissanConnect is now stuck on a certain date, charge status, and location. I cannot delete the car from the service because I get a communication error. Did I mention customer service in the time of need when charging therefore using the car is problematic is useless!

Bottom line is that this system may cause you far more problems than the lack of convenience, it may cause you charging hassles and with poor tech support you may be left wondering if you can use the car.

Unable to connect to vehicle

As a 30+ year IT professional, NissanConnect is no longer serving any purpose as it no longer connects. Keeps saying vehicle is not in cellular service area. This is in SLC where cell service is excellent. Likely iPhone OS updates not being kept up with on developer side. Customer service was no help. Logging out of app and returning did nothing. Remove app and reinstall did nothing. With winter around the corner, would be nice to use climate control features. NissanConnect worked for just a few weeks after purchase of vehicle but hasn’t now for over a week.

Great car. Terrible app.

One might think that an app dedicated to the charging features of an ev would have easily available features like setting a timer or allowing charging to stop at a certain point or even just manually stopping charging. One would be wrong.
If these features exist, they are somewhere deeply hidden in NissanConnect where I can’t find them after an hour plus of searching. I might just be bad at finding things, because the Nissan website says about the timer:“This feature is operated via the this app EV & Services app.”
Unfortunately the “instructions” stop there, and that feature is not in any obvious spot.
Fortunately I can remotely lock and unlock my doors, control the temperature, and maybe do some other things I have no intention to attempt.
What a poorly created app.

Buggy mess

I can’t even tell you what NissanConnect is like, I can’t get into it. It kept telling me to call Nissan every time I refreshed. I time traveled back to 2010 (felt like 1990) and fiddled with the settings and reset Carwings in my Leaf and spent hours trying to login only to finally found out I needed to enroll to this app on my online account. Once I did that NissanConnect finally gave me a pin and password to enter in to my leaf to login. It finally connected on the Leaf system, however, NissanConnect is another story. Once it shows me that new pin/password, it kicks me back to the login screen and I hit login and it loops me back around…and no matter how many times I login it logs me back out sending me into an infinite loop. So yeah, I can’t even get in to use NissanConnect with my Leaf, which I deem worth of a 1 star review.

Does not update

Just got our 2023 Leaf a month ago, NissanConnect was very slow to respond but if we refreshed it like 5-10 times it would eventually update to tell us how much battery was charged…..very underwhelming. But now it stops working all together, can’t lock/unlock car, still showing last battery charged up time (a week ago) and would not refresh. Called this app support x2, one went through steps of troubleshooting and promised me if I drove around for a few min and restarted my phone everything would work….it didn’t. The second support agent dropped the phone and despite that he took my phone number, never called me back.
A sad sad App that promised plenty but delivers none. This was my first Nissan and it would be the last as well. Terrible.

Unreliable, slow, no data

As others have mentioned NissanConnect is slow to refresh data and unreliable. The remote start works about 50% of the time and there is no way to confirm whether the car did start. Unfortunate for a cold climate where I rely on heating up the car and conditioning the battery before driving in below zero temps.

Also frustrating is that I can no longer see any of my driving data, history and mileage info. Apparently, this can only be done with an overpriced subscription fee. Users should have unrestricted, free access to their driving data.

Good ideas, poorly executed

NissanConnect is ridiculously unreliable. Apparently, according to another reviewer, a recent update lets NissanConnect automatically show current charge level when you open it, but that never happens in my experience. When I open it, it will show me the state of my battery a day or two ago. At least every couple of weeks, I am simply unable to get current data about my vehicle unless I delete and re-download NissanConnect . I would say I’ve had to do that more times for NissanConnect than for all the other apps on my phone combined. I don’t know of any features I would add; I just wish it worked as advertised.

Works sporadically, worst part of my car

The one feature of NissanConnect that I want to use the most is the climate control function. It just doesn’t work reliably when it comes to warming/cooling the car in advance. It’s 15 degrees out, I hit the button to turn the climate control on, I’ve got maybe a 50 percent chance that my car is warm for me when I get to it. It’s extremely frustrating and literally spoils an otherwise nice experience with the car. If I could update or somehow otherwise figure out what’s happening, it would be great, but NissanConnect is an utter disappointment. Copy any other EV app functionality, update/rerelease, please.

Don’t like using the app

NissanConnect has been having connection problems lately. It wouldn’t even work last night when I got home from around 8:30pm. It had an error message pop stating “Unable to reach vehicle, make sure I am in a good cellular reception area & try again. If problem continues call a certain phone number”
I don’t like that when I plug in my car I have to open up NissanConnect in order to start the charging process. It takes longer than just simply plugging it in and it starts immediately.
The only positive thing I like of NissanConnect is seeing the charging status and when it is finished.

could be improved… Here’s how 🥸

I have used NissanConnect for almost two years. It is not great, but it can be useful.

The animations are smooth, the layout is clean 👍🏻

NissanConnect has had real issues connecting to the car, lately that has improved 🙏🏻

I would love to have more car stats available… efficiency, miles per kW, total energy, cool graphs, etc. 🙏🏻

Whenever I sign into NissanConnect old information from the car is displayed by default, this is not helpful. 👎🏻 NissanConnect connects to the car and in a few moments the charge and battery information is updated. Better not to show any stale info while NissanConnect connects to the car, better still show a slick animation of the car rotating or something simple while the battery info loads 🙏🏻

Lastly, I feel that the car pictured in NissanConnect should be the same color as the car in my driveway. I would like to have control of that. After all, the dealership let me choose the color of my actual car, why not the color of the car in NissanConnect ? This is a small thing, but worth doing. 🙏🏻

App Quit recognizing my email address

I had been using NissanConnect successfully for about a month. Tonight it failed to recognize my email when I tried to login (even though I had it set to auto-populate and it worked on my previous attempt to login).

After an hour of futile efforts to fix the problem, I tried deleting NissanConnect and its data from my iphone, and then went to NissanConnect store and reinstalled NissanConnect . This seemed to solve the problem.

this app needs to implement a 24/7 tech support so they don't strand folks because of a bug in NissanConnect .

Not reliable

The ability of NissanConnect to connect to my car is always a hit or miss. Therefore, it is without a high probability that you can change anything on your car. The notification that I failed to set a setting in my car again only happens in frequently. The HVAC only runs for 15 minutes when you turn it on remotely.

There is no way to control the amount of charging of the battery to 80%, which is what Nissan recommends. To set a charging timer, you have to do that from inside the car and cannot do it with NissanConnect. NissanConnect only let you start charging.

Compared to the fast connection to my Tesla and ability to control various settings, NissanConnect needs significant improvements.

Not the future we were promised.

The idea of a “always connected” car and partner app sounds like a good idea, but NissanConnect is not it. It’s slow, confusing to use, and often fails to do the basics, like give a quick update on the status of the battery.

You can only have six quick access buttons, all of which are portly described and not reliable enough to trust. If you want to see the status of the battery you have to manually refresh. Every fourth or fifth refresh it will actually update, showing no error for the previous four attempts.

You can’t have separate accounts for family members, instead you must have one Nissan account and share the password. Not the best from a security perspective.

It’s a small thing, but indicative of the care and effort that went into NissanConnect . The loading spinner has an arrow to let you know it’s working. As it passes the 12 o’clock position the top of the spinner is cutoff. ಠ_ಠ. How NissanConnect passed any quality assurance test is beyond me.

Missing important charging features

There are some nice features in NissanConnect such as controlling temperature and getting the car ready for driving on a cold day. Remote locking and unlocking is also a plus.

Unfortunately, both the Leaf and NissanConnect are missing a way to stop charging at 80% battery capacity or a button to simply stop charging. Charging can be started but not stopped. Given the small size of a Leaf battery, this feature is important to prolong the longevity of the battery.

Is NissanConnect worth purchasing on a subscription basis without these features? I’m not sure.

Dead in the Water

App says, “The email address provided is already in our system. Please provide another address.” It was entered correctly. I am the only one on the planet with this address as far as I know. I have had this address since the mid 2,000’s. I have never encountered this before. I have never had any association of any kind with Nissan before. I have never driven a Nissan vehicle before, let alone owned one. NissanConnect is dead in the water before it even got started.

UPDATE: Turns out, the dealer had registered my email address but neglected to tell me or provide the password. It took a good 30-40 minutes on the phone with customer service to straighten it out, and it wasn’t easy. In the end, I was finally able to reset a password and get signed in. I recommend doing this on a PC, not a mobile device if anyone else encounters this.

So far, NissanConnect is interesting, but there is a learning curve. I’ve had the car less than a week, and NissanConnect has been useful to monitor charging at home. At first, it would fail to update on reopening. Had to sign out and sign back in to make that happen. But now the reload button is doing the job.

The app is competent but not great

The biggest complaint is that NissanConnect is very slow to update, whether attempting to get your current state of charge, turning on climate controls, etc. at least a recent update changed NissanConnect so opening it will automatically refresh its status, which was a good move.

Sadly, you cannot select the color of the Leaf in NissanConnect to match your own. Why not?

I wish that I could also set up charge schedules from NissanConnect . For instance, if I have a charge schedule for 7pm-10pm every day, but want to add more charge outside of those hours, I could either go into the car and disable the timer, or hit “start charging” on NissanConnect , but I can’t set a timer within NissanConnect . I should be able to select a charge time or percentage from within NissanConnect . The widget controls and Apple Watch controls are essentially useless - they take multiple times longer to update and often don’t work.

Slow communication with the car

NissanConnect is pretty limited in what it does, the most useful to me being setting the cabin temperature in winter and checking charging status at work so I don’t hog one of the only two level 2 chargers at work all day. I like to take my 2023 Leaf SV+ off the charger as it nears 100%. But NissanConnect is very slow to update the status of the battery. I guess Nissan is polling the car through its cellular connection or a satellite connection, because I can’t log the car into the WiFi network at work. So maybe those methods are time consuming but it takes about five minutes to update the battery status, which is very annoying. It seems like there’s room for improvement in efficiency.

Regrettably, it has stopped working

NissanConnect has worked for me for a couple of years for my 2020 Leaf. It was perfect. Now it has stopped working and will not show state of charge or anything else. However, it will still allow me to start charging and start climate control. It’s too bad that it doesn’t work properly because it was pretty good. I guess it has been abandoned as they move to newer models.

Update: looks like they sort of fixed it.
