Beware of the fine print!

I booked a provider to mount a tv 5 days in advance. As your booking it, it tells you that you won’t be charged for the job till it’s completed. Well the “fine” print that no one reads states that this app is going to charge you right then and there. Then refund you just to make sure you have the funds. That means the money comes out of your bank account then and there, but like any refund takes sometime to get it back into your account. Which to me does not make any sense because technically then someone can have the funds available the day of booking but not actually have the funds available the day of the job! So therefore charging the customer and refunding them is completely pointless! Granted I hope people have the common sense to cancel the job if they can’t afford to pay for it, but my point is that I felt violated by this app and they’re very miss leading. I do not recommend this company. In my opinion they don’t look out for the customers best interest. They can’t be upfront with the customer which to me is very shady! I’ll stick to Angie’s list!

Providers Beware....Takl will charge you if the customer lies.

Had a bit of a slow start with this app. Finally got enough jobs to have a rating. Got about 20 jobs in and all 5 stars. Got to one lady’s job and she paid for me to be there 3 hrs. I got there and started the job. After I had been there a couple of hrs I went to take pics and noticed Takl had dumped the pics I had taken and gone back to the navigate screen. The job started at 9:00 and I was there before that. I had to start it in Takl again at 11:00 and left at 12:00 to head to another customers place. In that 3 hr time the lady went to get hardware taking one of the brackets with her as a reference. She returned with hardware that wouldn’t fit through the holes in the bracket. She also changed her mind on where holes were to be drilled after drilling began. Before I left she was gonna have me come back after she had gotten the proper hardware. I left my personal hardware kit that had a couple of what she needed there so she could get the right studs. After I finished with my next client I contacted her to set a time to come back through Takl .(she had asked me before I left to come back for cash instead and I declined saying that could get me deactivated and she would need to set it up through Takl ) She then informed me that her and her boyfriend had gotten the hardware and finished the job themselves. She then contacted this app the next day complaining that I had drilled in the wrong spot and left before the job was done. this app deactivated me and charged me 50$ for this lady’s inability to properly plan or find hardware that could fit before the job was started.

Worst experience EVER

I hired a mover more than a week ago, I signed up, added all my banking info and got confirmation for my move.

Today is is Friday afternoon, I am moving tomorrow morning, about 20 minutes ago I get a notification “Your helper” has canceled and can’t make it.

Can you imagine the stress I am under right now, so much work to organize the move, the new landlord, the times, the expense and everything in between to get a message hours before which simply says “canceled”. I am beyond furious and the reason I’m leaving this review for this app is because I can’t find anywhere to leave a review about this mover once it was canceled, and also, this app should have something in place which automatically affects someone’s ranking or review for doing this. This mover still has a 5 star rating and I cannot explain the difficulty he has left me in by doing this to me... I can’t find the right words to even explain how I’m feeling right now, but I will NEVER use Takl again for anything even if my life depended on it, I just feel like screaming and am left completely helpless on a Friday afternoon...moving tomorrow morning without movers...you should be ashamed of yourself !!!

Cheat and lie about providers, and so much more.

I’ve used Takl for a very long time. I would say my success rate is about 80%. But when they’re bad, they’re really bad, and the company takes their side every time.

This last time I had 11 windows to be cleaned in a one story house. The girl was there 3.5 hours, complaining, and did a poor job. She also left all the windows unlocked, and screens up, down or in the middle. Her way to clean the outside was to lean out from inside. Then a boy friend with a black eye shows up and they start fighting. I finally told her to leave, I had other things to do. When I explained to this app, they wanted more pictures for a $25 credit on a $100 job. Then they paid her and did not allow me to provide a rating. Just so you know, any provider with 5 stars, and no numbers next to that, could have started that day. Yeah, they start them all at 5 stars without knowing a thing. Also, if you have a no show, you are not allowed to leave a rating or review. Lots of much better apps out there. Don’t use this.

One bad review, and you're done

As a provider, I made a good deal of money at first, then a really really spoiled rich woman insisted I hung some pictures crooked in her house....four days after the job was completed. She was so happy when it was done, took pictures, offered me a tip, ( which I had to refuse) said she was in love with it!! Then four days later she sentenced a dozen text messages with pictures of a level she had bought and placed on top of the pictured stating everything I had hung was not level. Looking at the pictures I saw the level was actually reading a horizontal level!! It was perfect...what SHE was looking at were all the bubbles....the vertical and horizontal. She thought they were all supposed to be in the middle. I tried to explain this to her without being to rude to the fact she didn't understand basic physics!! Very frustrating . She wrote a horrible review of me. Now no one will hire me. I saw my review when a friend of mine listed a task she needed help with. First I wasn't notified if the job until about 4o minutes after she listed, after four other providers had already stated they were available. So if they say it's equal, it's not. There are preferred providers who are notified way before others. If they refuse the job it trickles down the line to us peons. Wish we could write reviews of the crazy customers you have to deal with.
I hate this happened because I was enjoying this app and was making good money on the side. One bad review, and you're done.

DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!

I went through this app and booked a provider to have a bunk bed with storage drawers put together for my 8 year old son just one day ago. A man named Joel showed up for the job 30 mins late and when he got here, he opened up the box, scattered all the pieces and hardware all over my son’s room. As he was doing this he dropped one of the boards, when asked if it was broken, he lied and said “no, I just knicked it a little” when he had actually chipped off a huge chunk of the wood right where the bolts and screws went to that particular piece. After taking out all the pieces, he said that he couldn’t put it together by himself after being here for nearly 3 hours and said he’d be back at 10 am the next morning with 2 more people. Instead he went on this app, cancelled the job at 6:30 am with no warning or explanation as to why. Wouldn’t answer his phone or anything. After setting up yet ANOTHER provider the same day the last guy didn’t show, the new guy comes in and said that he had made such a mess of things that there was no way he could put it together. So now we’re just stuck with a mess and no bed for my son. DO NOT USE this app!!!! They have some horrible providers. I am highly upset and disappointed!!!

Ridiculous

I’ve been a very successful ‘provider’ on a different platform for 4 years and wanted to branch out and try some others as well, I got booted off this one on the first day. I accepted a job that had the description ‘I need help moving a couch,’ which I was selected for, but no other information was provided. I also couldnt contact the client bc their system prevents you from doing that until one hour before the job was to begin. So I contact the help chat to get more info, at which point she tells me I need a vehicle for this job which I don’t have. I told her I didn’t see anything in the description about needing a car, to which she replies “it’s the provider’s responsibility to know what to bring.” How the hell am I supposed to know that from that description, and especially when I can’t contact the client beforehand for more details? So I had to cancel the task, which automatically suspends your provider account, at which point you’re prompted to email the company and explain, which I did, and I never received a reply, nor was my account ever turned back on. This was in April of this year, it’s now August, I can’t believe even the most incompetent of companies take 5 months to read and reply to an email. I’ve done almost 2000 jobs successfully on the other platform, with a very high rating, and have never had a problem like this. And Takl also forces you to look at a warning to not accept cash in any form every-single-time-you-open-it, which becomes a lot more annoying than it sounds if you use Takl a lot, and it’s also vaguely condescending as they appear to think you’re an idiot who needs to be reminded of that 35 times a day

Do not become a provider for this Platform

You have been warned!!! do not risk your services for this company... immediately you have to pay $50 in order to become a provider with no guarantee of ever receiving a job. I personally went several weeks without ever receiving a job. Sometimes the jobs they send you could be 70 miles away and then you will have to decide if it’s worth the drive though the pictures are almost always miss leading, So determining that is always difficult. The only line of communication is through text and there is a delay because tackle acts as a middleman to monitor all text so you never get an immediate response if you get one at all. The customer is never banned or kicked from the Platform. However if you arrive to the job and the job is more than what was described for instance, you show up for a one person job that is actually a two person job and have to cancel or have to ask the customer to cancel you will be immediately suspended from the platform with an uncertainty of returning. I do not recommend wasting your time, energy, & money to become a provider there are other platforms that I am sure are a lot better and more Advanced than this one. One last thing I should’ve mentioned if you do become a provider in need help or need to speak to support, give up! they have no way of communicating other than text, you cannot call someone to explain the situation and this app does not trust their providers which was clearly mentioned throughout an issue I had with a customer who was trying to receive more work for less money which is a common situation I have dealt with and have bit my tongue long enough!

Great idea but flaky, at least where I live

It’s a great premise and idea but as a provider, Takl & customer base in my area can be super flaky. A job is submitted and in seconds either ‘another provider was already selected’ or the job gets cancelled after its submitted. Advice to individuals contemplating being a provider, chat with this app 1st in Takl and inquire how there usage and coverage is in the city where you are. If they say they ‘are working on their campaigns and promotions in that area’, it very likely you won’t even make back that $35 for your background check fees for A WHILE & is an unreliable service for you. If it’s a city they are well established then I can see this being beneficial for customers and providers alike especially in small cities without a lot of traffic. It would be good for ‘extra $’. I really do like the idea and premise of it but there definitely are some holes to be filled. Also ‘supposedly’ before this app posts the job they take a look at job request but I’ve noticed some really big discrepancies in fair pricing or with jobs fitting descriptions. They say that’s where they counterbidding comes in later but if it’s a job for “now“ with arrival time within an hour, the haggling doesn’t a lot make a lot of sense especially if the counter bidding inly shows after 45 minutes. I recommend if you want to be a provider, do your research. If you want to be a customer, this could be great for many people in various situations. It’s a creative & innovative idea that just needs A LOT of company campaigning and promotions to expand the users nation wide with heavy use in EVERY city especially major metropolitan areas.

Missing several simple, intuitive features

Tried booking a job as a customer with this app. I received 2 providers right away: 1 had many good reviews but showed that he was 426 miles away. I wanted to simply clarify with him that he was closer than that before confirming, but Takl has no message function that allows customers and providers to communicate and ask these types of simple, clarifying questions before committing. The only way to message someone is to first confirm them for the job.

I was also unable to go back and see/edit the details of my job posting after I submitted it but before I confirmed a provider; I had to go to the help portal and IM with a this app representative to get the information. If I wanted to change anything, I would then have to cancel the job and go through the entire submission process again.

this app - please take a cue from other successful service-based customer/provider apps like AirBnB. The above features are very simple and, in the case of the messaging function, can be implemented so that this app doesn’t lose business as a result of customers and providers making their own arrangements outside of Takl .

Great Idea, poor execution

I think Takl is a great idea, and I was really looking forward to trying it out. I have several small jobs Around the house that I need help with, and I was joking this would solve my problems. It’s easy enough to post a job, however that’s where the convenience ended for me. When posting a job, it doesn’t let me pick a range for completion or allow me to keep it as an open job. For example, I need some shutters painted, and I don’t care when it’s done. I’d like to have the option to post that job and leave it up for a week or two to allow potential contractors to sign up for it, but the only option I have is to pick one day and select “flexible” in the time slot. This is such a joke, because it gives me an 8 hour time frame for a single day. I then have to wait to see if someone picks it up, and only when the jobs gets canceled can I then go and repost it. Then I have to go back through and repost pics again instead of just carrying them over.

The payment method seems easy, although it never worked for me. I tried multiple cards and it kept giving me an error and wouldn’t let me add one, so to be honest maybe it’s a good thing no one ever signed up for a job because I’m not sure how I would have paid them. I called customer service about these issues and they basically told me they didn’t have those features and left it at that. I was told someone would email me about the payment issues but no one ever did.

The lack of features wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me. Sure, it’s really annoying that simple basic features can’t be added, but if I were getting things done around the house it would have been worth it. Unfortunately several easy jobs (painting shutters, replacing light fixture, etc) were not done because no provider signed up for them after multiple attempts. I’ll be deleting Takl and hoping for other alternatives soon, hopefully ones that execute this concept better.

More like flag football than Takl

The first few jobs I requested went pretty well. It was all downhill from there. I wound up getting my jobs cancelled because this app blocked them from even getting to the contractor because they didn’t have anyone specializing in the particular job, or they wouldn’t accept liability for the job. My initial disappointment pertained to a job involving drilling into a ceramic floor tile, which couldn’t be done because this app was concerned about cracking my tiles. They weren’t too worried about hanging a pull-up bar in my 9ft. ceiling, which could severely injure me if it fell, but couldn’t accept the liability of cracking one of my floor tiles. The second job involved repairing my lawn sprinkler plumbing (splicing one break), but they don’t have any irrigation specialists that can do the job. I would recommend Angie’s List or another home service app, this app seems to be somewhat limited in the amount of jobs they can perform or are willing to supply an expert or “specialist” to do jobs. They would be my 3rd choice. If you can’t find anyone on an “Angie’s List” type of app, use this app.

Great app until recently...

As a provider, I’ve made plenty of extra cash using Takl and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who needs to make extra money and doesn’t mind working for it. HOWEVER, I have 2 complaints now. First, Takl keeps switching me out of provider mode. I was hoping the new update would fix this but it has only gotten worse. Now when it does it it tries to request a chore? I open Takl because it says that there’s a new job available and I’m suddenly halfway through requesting to have a tv mounted (or whatever random chore Takl decides I need done). Second, I recently had an issue where a customer completely ghosted me when I got to her house, after dealing with customer service for half an hour they told me to cancel the chore and I could get a “Dry Run Fee” to cover my time and gas. After a few days of not hearing back I emailed them again. It has now been about 2 weeks with no response and no “Dry Run Fee”. If both of these issues can be addressed I will absolutely switch my rating to 5 stars.

Disappointing resolution

I have to admit that initially, I was very happy with the service I received through Takl. However, on the last job request, a young lady came to clean my house and brought her 15 year old daughter. Her daughter did most of the work and she didn’t do a very good job at all. I paid $200 to have my house clean and when they left, the floors were still dirty. They had not been thoroughly swept or mopped. Bathroom toilets, floors and mirrors weren’t cleaned. The one bed that I asked her to make, wasn’t made. The cabinets weren’t wiped down, as stated part of the service. The stairs weren’t swept or vacuumed. When I filed a dispute, the company only wanted to issue a $50 refund, but then decided to give me a $75 refund. I paid $140 to have a 15 year do a poor job cleaning my home and this app didn’t think it was a good idea to refund my money or send someone else out to clean my house. I have a 5000 sq foot home and they were there less than 2 hours which makes it clear that they didn’t effectively clean my house.

Good with some suggestions

As a provider I’m overall pleased with Takl . It’s fairly intuitive to use and lays things out in a simple manner. A few suggestions I have for the developers that would make it much more enjoyable to use:
-Allow providers to see star ratings for specific chores they performed. How will we know what to do better or differently if we cannot see feedback?
-Don’t require location services to be set to “Always On”. By setting a specific location point with an xx-mile radius for chores would be incredibly beneficial. Since everything for this app is so phone dependent, having to worry about battery drain due to location settings adds an unnecessary level of stress. I would be THRILLED if this was implemented in a future update.
-I’m curious why I have to rate a customer at the end of each chore. I cannot see these ratings prior to accepting a chore so what use do they have?
-Please implement a notification to update to the provider if a customer does not accept you for a chore. Having to constantly check back and pull down to refresh gets pretty annoying, especially if you’re in the middle of something else.

So far no so good

I’m having the same technical problem as the person who’s trying to register as a provider.
I signed up last night as a customer, chose a provider, gave my CC info, paid, and I realize it was set for the wrong date. POSSIBLY my error, but I’m 99% sure that I submitted the right date anyway.
I’m told by chat help that it Can’t truly cancel without reaching the provider. I’m told he’s going to show up unless I reach him. But guess what? NO WAY TO REACH HIM. I’m instructed to sign out and refresh to resign in, click this and click that. I signed in/out. Still no prompts to connect w provider.
So I’m expecting him at 10:22 - and he’s not shown up anyway. Probably still going to be charged. Had another job for him too. I’m reluctant to request another job as I’m afraid I’ll be charged even if I don’t find the right guy. I really wanted the original I chose.
Great concept - but too many tech glitches

Confusing Pay and Rating Page

I would give five stars because I really enjoyed my experience with Takl . I had a great experience setting up my account. Creating a chore and getting a provider out we’re a breeze. Mark came out and did an unbelievably wonderful job mowing my lawn! BUT I am still somewhat unfamiliar with Takl , so unfortunately, when it came time to pay I missed the part where I could rate the service and leave a tip!!! It let me continue to pay the base amount without rating the service or ensuring I wanted to leave no tip!!! I get that this was user error, but there should be a check built-in to Takl to ensure that you are okay paying without leaving any amount of tip! There should be a check built-in to Takl to question if you don’t want to leave any rating at all for your service! After I “chatted” with tech support, I was able to have their finance department add on a tip after the fact which is good because Mark deserved it and did a wonderful job with the lawn. But I cannot give him the five stars he deserves which I’m sure would help him on Takl in the future. App developers, please read customer reviews and address these issues!!!

Great app, terrific service, EASY

I do not write reviews typically, but this was literally life-changing today.
We had eight people in my house from out of town for a week and they left today. Typically I call my housekeeper and she comes to organize the house. Unfortunately she is out with health issues.
It’s a very first world problem, but I had a lot of work to catch up on myself at the office and did not have time to clean up, do the floors, vacuum the rugs, make four beds, wash all the sheets, etc.
I googled app for housekeeping and this was what popped up.
Within three minutes, yes three minutes, I had booked the service for someone to come and clean my house. She was there an hour and 15 minutes later. It was outstanding really quick to get someone to come help, and the level of cleaning was fantastic.
I have had the same housekeeper for six years and my floors have never sparkled like they did today.
The lovely woman that came in clean my house was here for four hours with my au pair and daughter she worked around them and did not complain or slow down.
In the last six months I have downloaded many apps that offer services that come right to you, this was the easiest to use, most organized and detailed app I’ve ever seen. It’s like an iPhone- pretty, clean, organized AND anyone can use it. I’m sure my parents could too!
I cannot wait to use Takl again, and try out all the other services that they offer.

Signed- A hard working, single mom that sincerely appreciates services like this!!!!

Moving a 200 pound rock table!

Faced with the task of moving a 200 pound rock table from the back of my SUV and into my house, what could I do? It took 3 people to load it into the car from the store. I called moving companies and none would do this simple task without charging a minimum of 2 hours labor plus other fees. Moving an object this heavy was just too much an imposition on friends. Then I remembered seeing the this app ads and thought this was the perfect job. I downloaded Takl , followed the simple instructions for describing my task (included a few pictures) and submitted the job. Instantly, I had 5 people responding and I selected one based on their proximity to me and their bio. It turned out just great for us and we are sold on this app. The job was completed for much less than the cost of a moving company.

Great new app!

This is a great new app that I took a chance on. Yes, I kept seeing the commercials & I decided to give this app a try. I’m so glad I did! I’ll be honest, I’m not the most tech savvy person out there & once I downloaded Takl I had questions. I went on their chat room & every question was answered for me. I requested a job to get done & within minutes had the person who was going to do it locked in. I could even see his picture, his profile and after picking Scott I was able to text him directly to leave information since I wouldn’t be home when he was here doing the outside work. I included “before” pictures on my job request & he sent me “after” pictures. I was notified when he was on his way, when he got to my home & when the job was complete. Perfect! I waited until I got home, loved his work & hit complete & just like that Scott gets paid & I'm a very satisfied customer. I will definitely be using this app again. Thank you.

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT

First impressions last forever. Use of Takl was easy enough, though it took almost 15 minutes for it to find worker choices to do the job requested (pick up and deliver a fridge). And then I was only given 1 choice to choose from... some choice, right?

I requested 9am... then the worker I “chose” never showed up. We had some text correspondence, he said he was on his way and then he went radio silent on me. Didn’t even have the decency to text or respond to my messages.

I am a very busy person, have a ton of stuff going on and every minute is valuable... him not showing and keeping me waiting for 1.5 hours put my entire day in disarray and is completely unacceptable.

I sent messages to two different support centers on Takl ... not sure why there are two, but this is very confusing. One person got back with me within 5-7 minutes... the other support center took half a day.

After I explained what had happened, they offered a 10% discount... they had the opportunity to truly make it right and 10% off your next job is not making it right. 10% is a slap in the face. They might as well said “you and your time is not important to us”.

They have now lost a client that would inevitably provide a ton of work as I assist multiple local big personalities and am hiring workers 3-4 times a week. You only have 1 chance to make a good first impressions. And most people today, don’t have time to give second chances.

Angry provider

I started using Takl to try and make more money. I would only accept jobs I knew I could complete for sure and had the experience to do a good job. I saw a lot of “custom jobs” that were basically listed on this app already but customers didn’t want to pay what this app was charging. From a provider standpoint this app already takes out 30 percent of the job fee and adds a 9% service fee. So both the customers and the providers are ripped off.

Now on to the customer service. I made a mistake with the flexible time selection and chose an hour before I could actually be there. After a 20 minute chat and them scolding me for making a simple mistake, they finally agreed to contact the customer. They need to be ALOT more understanding especially when going to a job is basically a blind date through Takl. I will never use Takl to find a job again. They need to give up the whole “we own our customers “ mindset. They are making a fortune off of everyone involved in this app. A this app provider is “self employed” but can’t communicate with customers? Come on.

Buggy App, Expensive BG check and Lack of Customers

Takl crashes when I tap on notifications, forcing Takl out of “provider mode.” I have to go into the settings and turn it back on to look at new jobs. I’ve received several error messages when itcrashes.

Most of the jobs are not in my area and aren’t worth a 2+ hour round trip. After four days of using Takl , I’ve seen a couple of jobs that are in my area but they have vague descriptions or would barely pay for the gas after taxes. The $50 background check (which doesn’t cost that much to begin with) was a complete waste of money. I haven’t done a single job for this app. The interface is hokey and “cartooney” but I wouldn’t think anything of it, except for the other things I mentioned.

That said, I gave it two stars just because the concept is more flexible than other similar apps/services. Having customers post photos is a good idea. Needs tons of work.

Pretty Good!

I was somewhat skeptical at the beginning but it’s turned into a pretty positive experience since then. Patience and persistence is needed to gain your start with this app as you are competing with many others for the same job. But once you’ve been selected and successfully completed your first task, the opportunities to make money become much easier and more frequent. Having a professional looking profile pic and well-written bio have seemed to help me a great deal too. The only reason I’m not rating Takl the full 5 stars is mostly a technical one. On more than one occasion Takl has unknowingly switched from the “provider” mode, which is needed to receive job notifications, to the “customer” mode, which you would want if you were looking to hire someone to complete a task. So pretty good experience overall...just a few technical kinks to work out. 😬

I am a takl provider

I like using this app because I can earn money doing thing I like to do and things I’m good at doing. I have had a few issues using Takl but I think that this is the way of the future. I urge the customers to use care when choosing a provider. Also when they show up try to engage the provider to determine if they are comfortable with the chore. Ask if they have done that type of work before. You have the ultimate choice in refusing a provider you think may be less than qualified to perform the task. The customer service with this app is very responsive. Please rate your provider honesty as the ratings are the best way to weed out those providers that will do anything for a buck, even if they have no skills or ability to complete the task to your satisfaction
