I have completed the process and Nissan emailed me and said my car was accepted into the Nissan connect program. However, every time I try to login on the app it request the Vin number which is a 17 digit number character string having to enter it repeatedly is not that easy.I have done this at least 10 times and every time it says that VIN number is already added. It will not let me access the app by just logging in. It keeps asking for the VIN number over and over again and giving me the same message that we already entered. So I effectively I’ve never been able to use the app. In addition, there is no option on the home screen to contact for any kind of support or help. Thirdly whoever designed the low contrast, black background with dark blue text log out and send buttons at the top of the page probably hadn’t had a lot of Design training. It’s almost invisible.

Ever since the December update, reports about the ev consumption stats have been missing entirely. The heading still has activity and reports, but only leads you to an activity page that is usually blank (when it does work it shows you when you last remotely locked your car, flash your lights, etc through the app and that’s not useful at all). The bulk of what I was using the app for was to double check if my car was charging and how much charge it had (which that part of it was down for a week+ recently so current statuses couldn’t be seen) as well as checking my consumption per drive, day, week etc so I could see how much my commutes were costing and seeing how different driving behaviors were affecting my driving. The reports are a very key feature here that needs to be fixed and brought back right away.

Let me list the problems:
1. Could not register at the dealership when we purchased the car. Nissan requires paperwork such that the numerous pieces of paper we signed to purchase the car did not satisfy them.
2. It took two weeks once we did get the right piece of paper to activate the service.
3. Although we were supposed to get premium service as a trial till mid-summer only the basic service was activated.
4. Customer service was a lot of things but service was not one of them.
5. After a few months of basic service the app failed to update. This seemed to cause the car not to be able to charge consistently. The car now will start to charge but then randomly stops. This started at the same time the app failed to update. The app is now stuck on a certain date, charge status, and location. I cannot delete the car from the service because I get a communication error. Did I mention customer service in the time of need when charging therefore using the car is problematic is useless!
Bottom line is that this system may cause you far more problems than the lack of convenience, it may cause you charging hassles and with poor tech support you may be left wondering if you can use the car.
