Developers: PLEASE FIX COLUMN WIDTHS. With every update, the problem gets worse. Unable to view more than two columns of a worksheet on an iPhone 13 6.1” because ticker description column width is inflexible. Only way to view more columns is by holding the phone in landscape mode, which is a ghetto solution. MAKE COLUMN WIDTHS FLEXIBLE, not dependent on index tickers. It’s like basic Excel…
Terrible Update for IPad
2024-02-03
by Icarus Kid
This update for IPad was terrible. They completely redid the interface and look and everything I had saved was gone. I would never have downloaded the “new” look had I known. I can not replicate the screen I had- even after calling the mobile help line- and the user interface is not intuitive. I agree with other reviews that the “Today” screen is useless. I am extremely annoyed with this product and the way the new look was rolled out...
Latest version a big downgrade
2024-05-23
by Pruv1
- “Portfolios” lags to the point of being unusable, takes 2 mins plus to load if loads at all - otherwise just keeps spinning. - where did the refresh buttons go on multiple views including Portfolios??? - in Research inexplicably you deleted the stock symbol of the company next to the reports - now have to open the pdf to find out what company the headline is referring to - terrible!
Overall this latest update made BloombergProfessional materially worse - can we go back to the old one? If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, please!!!!
Re-Order in Securities
2024-07-02
by Rrubin34
There should be the ability to re-order and prioritize what information comes up on equity securities.
The idea that ESG, as a large block, should come before a company’s financials is odd and that should be up to the user, not Bloomberg. Different users care about different things, and prioritization should be up to the user.
Push alerts are also terrible! “Larry Summers says…” comes up more than anything (although we are now getting a lot of Bill Gross says…”). I don’t care what those guys are saying as a push alert. Most don’t. And yet I can’t seem to get a push alert on the type of information that I would prefer, which is quick hit information that is data driven. Killing the Larry Summers says and going more toward data driven information alerts would be better for the users.
Terrible change in latest update with shocking lack of thought on the part of developers
2024-05-06
by LI Dubai
Previously I could scroll down the list of recently viewed securities, view a chart and come back to the list, click on the next security, view the chart and so on and so forth.
Now it after I view the chart and click back, it brings me to the top of the list and then I have press and extra key to see “more securities” scroll all the way down tens of securities to select the next one. It slows the process down 3 times and obviously makes it more tedious.
How can you be so THOUGHTLESS with your changes??? YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO MAKE IT EASIER AND MORE EFFICIENT
Lousy app and lousy support
2024-07-02
by Another Foodie
I’ve had a ticket open through the terminal for a full month. The tech team just now asked me for information that is already in the ticket. They haven’t looked at their bad data on their quote line for over a month. They have atrocious customer support and almost non-existent documentation. They make zero version control visible to the user. Don’t waste your money on the terminal, and BloombergProfessional is very, very poor. If Bloomberg were not a quasi-monopoly, nobody would use it.
Moving backwards

I use Bloomberg’s app at home on my iPad for work. Recently every update adds enhancements that aren’t useful and get the way. The “Today” screen/feature is useless.
On top of that my security monitors become more and more unstable with each update.
If Bloomberg keeps moving in this direction, I’m going have to fire up my clunky laptop.
Newest Version Shows Continual Movement Away From Understanding Users
2024-04-27
by Jgreenert
For casual monitoring of messages and markets, it’s an acceptable add-on to the terminal, but when attempting to do more, BloombergProfessional falls short. While there are some useful enhancements with the latest release (better access to monitors, security page) it has removed some good functionality (linking market pages to home screen, IB notification on home screen, news layout on tablet, organization of news, consolidated home screen of market, message & news) and made some naive blunders (5 year Treasury as benchmark for the bond market, Today / home screen). Terminal mode on tablet is clunky and Apple keyboard overlays many key areas, especially when messaging. In 3 hours of use today, I experienced the one crash & a completely blank screen. Developer appears to be shifting focus to phone users over tablet. Talking with one sales coverage today, he would be ditching BloombergProfessional in favor of Surface and the full version. Essentially, despite its ease of access vs the full version on a laptop/Surface, there are too many short comings to BloombergProfessional when attempting to do real work. I have passed along usage comments to my Bloomberg coverage & app feedback.
Could be way better

Why they haven't added a yas or other pricing page for corporate bonds is beyond me and would greatly improve functionality. Also why no trace? These can't be that difficult
As other users have noted the "updates" are all pretty useless. They continually improve things on the margin like notes - does anyone use notes? IB notifications now stack on the lock screen but there's no way to see beyond the last one received
How do I delete securities from my worksheet? I see there is an edit button on the top right but the security list doesn’t show up as an option. Also, when I add the securities I need they show up at the bottom of the worksheet with so much space in between.
Bad updates

Overall solid for checking news, but really need to reinstate the sort/filter function for research reports. Made no sense to take that out. Otherwise, would’ve been a 4-5 star review.
Getting there

BloombergProfessional is great for some things (IB and news in particular) but has inexplicable feature gaps. It’d be great if it could support EMSX, provide more fixed income functions, and generally continue to move in the direction of making more of the terminal accessible on the go.
Good for quick things, but weak for credit investors

by Nate5238
Good app for IB, news on the go and basic market level tracking. Unless I’m missing something, I’ve found no credit oriented screens with functionally like on the terminal (CAST, YAS, HOAS, QR, QMGR, x credit CF) to name a few.
When can I log in Bloomberg terminal using IOS version Bloomberg app?
2024-01-06
by GLuo
One thing that often let me feel disappointed is to sync BUnit when I need work remote. I would like to have the way Interactivebrokers verify the authentication through IPhone fingerprints.
I’ve mentioned this idea a few times to our Bloomberg account rep, BloombergProfessional needs to have the Most Active function which is a valuable tool on the desktop program to see what stocks are moving within indices, stock screens, etc.
It’s ok

While it’s not as user friendly as the terminal, it’s better than not having access when out of the office.
Solid app, solid developer responsiveness

Not complete terminal functionality, but large availability of useful functions.
I miss EQS and other functions

For bloomberg go be a mobile first company they need to include not only security and monitors but all functions from the terminal as well
B-Unit feature
2024-02-12
by Mr.trif
Please add the B-Unit feature. That way we won’t have to carry the bbg fingerprint scanner with us all the time!!!
The most recent UX update is very counterintuitive. A large chunk of space on both side. Big waste of my screen space.
Perfect on M1 MacBook Air

by Mloomis00
This is a great option for Bloomberg Profesional on a M1 MacBook Air since there is no native install. Any chance you will approve this for a native download as post 11.3? Thanks again!
BBG on the go

I can use IB and MSG without having to log in on the computer!
News with alerts are great so I can see article titles on the locked screen, my preferred setting for all news apps, so I can click on the ones I want to read.
Latest markets info is there, securities I search on the terminal show up as recent ones on BloombergProfessional and my favorites are saved.
It’s great when I’m on the road, running around between meetings (okay, sometimes during meetings) and on evenings/weekends without cutting into my free time like it would otherwise. So glad my teammate showed me how to use it!
Great for Research and Preset Monitors

by Luvs2Splooge
Can update research notes, access street research and also navigate through other offerings much easier than past versions. Doesn’t have all the functions of the terminal, but pretty great for monitoring names while traveling, accessing news and saving down documents to IPad or IPhone that allow you to read them offline. Thanks BBG developer team!

For a mobile version of Bloomberg professional it’s more then suitable for the phone
Excellent APP if you haven’t leveraged it for new communication feature in past 6 months you should do so. A lot of great new feature available
