Awesome app UPDATE: ads ruin it

UPDATE: even though I paid for MacHashNews , the developer has snuck in ads as “special content.” Delete.

Great content, and the ads are not intrusive. Still, I use MacHashNews so much I couldn't help but pay the $1.99 to remove the ads; the developers deserve the money for their quality product.

Update: MacHashNews remains the best and most user-friendly source of Apple news available, even after more than a year of use. Get it!!

Latest update = adware

Avoid downloading this latest update.

I thought I would be receiving a faster more streamlined experience per the update description but all it is, is an addition of dozens of intrusive ads on each article page. Some scroll onto the page from the side; the rest are in an endless scroll with some even in double columns through the article preview. Crazy.

Gone are the days of having a single ad, minimally intrusive on the bottom of the page, which I was glad to load to give some much deserved ad revenue, but this is absolutely excessive.

Glassware why in the world are there EIGHTEEN ads now per article? I’m asking for you to please fix this once great app and remove most of the ad loaders. I hate to see such a good app get trashed like this in a single update.

Thank you.

Pay to remove ads and see even more ads

I’ve been using MacHashNews for a while and that’s why I was willing to pay for it to remove ads. Well, joke’s on me because now they put more ads in the list of articles. There’s no way to turn it off for users who paid to remove ads. In addition, they call the new ads “special content”. Beyond scammy behavior. I’ve emailed them and haven’t heard back. Awful and deceptive experience.

7.2 Makes Getting to the ARTICLE more difficult

In the new MacHash 7.2, the > to bypass the article preview gas been moved to the bottom of the preview and changed to a button.

Now, if you already KNOW you want to read the article, you must scroll to the bottom of the preview and press the button to get where you wanted to go in the first place.

Putting the > at the top right and the READ button at the bottom left requires more conscious interaction.

Background app process

I reported this before. The battery information on my iPhone 13 Pro Max shows a 6 hour and 17 minute of background activity. There are no background app refresh options for me to toggle off. I understand that it may be an anomaly but the issue persists.

New version is a big step back ...

The newest version has all kinds of ads for paid premium subscriptions. On top of that the ability to quickly swipe through the articles appears to be gone. This was one of the best features of MacHashNews . You use to be able to but now MacHashNews takes you to a web version of the article. In order to view the next article you have to exit the browser and then go back to the list of articles and then select the next article you want to view. The user experience is much more cumbersome than it used to be unfortunately.

Great but UX is veeeeery bad and poor and add auto removed ads from websites

I hope you check all problems and solve the ux problems and scrolling fixing is very speedy and not smoothly and must improve ui to be the best and improve speed MacHashNews and browsing and i hope you care about auto adblocking from websites removed all ads now to many apps add this future and i hope you to, one of them the “Brave browser” app auto removing ads, and improve fast loading- Bringing technology news from Tech news app to machash app, only tech news (android, ios, windows, gaming) , so we can get tech news in just one app, not two. If you are working on these features I would like to purchase the premium option and give you 5 stars ⭐️ from you and would like to add new features to improve MacHashNews . Honestly, I liked the application, but it has some problems that I hope to solve so that the experience is better

Nice app but could have better content control

A MacHash developer reached out about a previous post where I pointed out the horrific ads. He was accurate that the ads are not MacHash ads but instead ads from the content short I was looking at.

He was right. On the home page for MacHash the ads are sensible and unobtrusive. But when I go into the content for certain providers is when I get the full screen, in your face, horrendous ads.

So I’m changing the rating. I like MacHash, I have used it for some time. But if it is just going to aggregate the sites page then they should expose options to block ads or use the iOS built in ad blockers. If they gave you some control over these then I would raise it to 5 stars. Because of I view these sights in the browser I have that option and from the look of it they are just showing the sites page in their container.

Needs push notifications and widget

My only 2 feature requests that would make this 5-star l is if MacHashNews offered (customizable) push notifications support for sites as well as (at least one) app screen app widget tile.

Latest update “flaw”

With the latest update, when emailing a link to a news item, the email form no longer fills out the “subject”. Big pain.

MacHash’s Quick response is appreciated! All’s well now✌️

Great news, slightly annoying ads

Good news, various sources. The ads can get overbearing… but also a very inexpensive option for no ads.

Mac Hash

Mac Hash is a unique Apple News application. It is more of a news aggregator where users can read articles from various Apple News sources instead of just one. The sources that can be added to your news feed are comprehensive and range from the most well known and trustoworthy such as Mac Life, Mac World, 9 to 5 Mac to less well known niche sites. It is easy to customize your feed to add or subtract the sources you want to read from. Articles can also be shared with others as well. MacHashNews allows users options to tweak background colors so you can choose between a light and night mode dark visual template to better aid your reading.

Enjoy!

I’m really enjoying MacHashNews. It’s easy to get up to date with all the news once it’s all consolidated since there are so many suppliers of news. However, I’m a bit confused and wondering how come iPhoneHacks isn’t listed on here. That’s usually my go-to for news and I would love to see it brought to MacHashNews. Other than that, keep up the good work!

Great news, poor update.

Updates aren't always better. The latest update has given photos almost half the screen, and thereby fewer articles now show at once.

Rely on this app and recommend it highly.

This collects everything you need/want to know about Apple from news to reviews to predictions.

#AlwaysThere

Have had MacHashNews since almost the first day I bought my iPhone 3G way back in 2008, which probably isn’t true. Probably around ‘09 more like.
Great source for aggregation of Apple-related news/rumors. ALWAYS SOMETHING TO READ! Love MacHashNews!

Apple News Always

Keeping up on all things Apple has never been easier. Slick interface, good sources, keep up the great app work.

Thank god for the filter

Never before today have I been so thankful that the settings allow me to filter the Trump-aligned horse manure being pushed (for some reason) with my Apple news from one particular source.

Worst tech news app ever

MacHashNews consistently does not open ANY of the articles featured. Whenever I click on something I’m interested in the screen either goes to a white screen that that says “loading” or just a white screen AND NOTHING HAPPENS! At first I just thought it was a temporary glitch but nothing has changed over several months. I have the Drippler app which works every time. Because I have an iPhone I would love to get specific apple news, but not from this apparently.

Started crashing … (UPDATED)

App used to work GREAT. Now it crashes after a few seconds. Not sure what’s going on, but the developer needs to fix it. EDIT: The developer responded and fixed it!!!
