Guitar : Play & Learn Chords Reviews

I just gave Guitar the two stars because I downloaded it and saw the subscription and being a musician singer/ songwriter I don’t really want to pay that much. I will definitely not know some of the basics on Theory and maybe a few others. I’m like a Lot of very famous bands. A lot of them can’t read music or even write it. They know basic chords and scales and what all the notes are. They call it, “Playing by Ear.” I do read music but it’s hard for me to just look at a song and just start playing it, I would have to take a bit to read the notes. I would just play the roar notes or chords. I just wanted to know if you Have to pay to use Guitar ? Can I start free and if I like it and it clicks then I can subscribe? If there is a free part , is it the bare basic and is it any good. I have also been charged for large subs I never wanted on apps and games. The games are Free and one I played didn’t even have in app purchases. But I was then subscribed to the “ premium.” Where I get rhins I didn’t really want or ask for. I had to turn off the payments on my iPad and open it up to pay and then close it. So, if I can use it for free and Get a Subscription if I like it, I give it a try. Thank you.

I had brief knowledge of the this app before Guitar and after I can comfortably call myself a well rounded player, it gives you all the tools you need to succeed with tutorials on everything from classic songs to blues tutorials and working around the frets. The videos make it super simple to learn the songs and you can even play along at 50x speed which was a brilliant edition.... I’ve been a premium member for 3 years and I can personally say it’s well worth it !!!!!

Pretty good way to learn songs of varying degrees of difficulty. It breaks each song down into sections for easier learning, you get the song, video and tabs.

You should be able to print out the tabs, but you can’t which is a real problem if you want to follow along using the tabs. You can’t even read them on an IPhone because they are too small.

They also don’t add very many new songs very quickly. I’ve been a monthly member for quite awhile now, I’ve made several song requests and not one of them have been added and they’re all populate songs by famous artists.

You also can’t take advantage of the yearly membership specials without being on a computer. Kind of doesn’t make sense considering this is an iPhone app? I’ve asked specific questions regarding the membership specials and never had one email responded to? Guess they’d rather me be a monthly member, makes sense considering it’s more money for them in 12 months. I’d like to upgrade to premiere member for a year, but not without a special and not without the ability of doing it on my phone?

Wonder if they read these? If they do maybe they’ll make some needed changes? Doubt it.

I’m giving it 3 stars... The idea they have here is really good, kinda like ‘this app hero’ but geared towards teaching instead of a game.. Shows the notes light up over the strings as the teacher plays. But the interface needs some tweaking... We as this app players are used to reading TAB, but their fretboard is laid out the opposite direction... there should be an option to have the fretboard exactly like TAB... that’s my first complaint.. My second complaint is they number the fretboard with a mirrored number next to it... it makes it way more difficult to quickly read. They do this so they can flip the neck for lefthanders but they should just have one set of numbers per right hand and one set per left hand... Fix it Coach! Let’s do this and you’ll be a 5 star app

It’s misleading to say this app tab is included. You cannot print which renders the tab pretty much useless. I’m not busting out the iPad every time I go to play and even if I did would have to stop to scroll through the tab which is ANNOYING! We pay a good price to be here. Let the people print the the tab!!! Worried people are going to get a month subscription and print all the tabs for every song? Firstly, who cares, not the core value of your offering. But if this is the concern, put a limit - print up to 3 tabs a month. Just a thought.

[4] don’t show the “about lesson” Home Screen for each song by default. It just increases clicks to get get to the main content. Make it secondary for people who care to read it.
[5] add a metronome that can be accessed immediately inside any lesson in upper right corner (defaulted to the bpm of the song active) that can be adjusted down or up as desired.

My card was accidentally charged for the ONE YEAR subscription for Guitar. I’ve sent over 4 emails to CoachGuitar explaining my situation and requesting a refund, as the application has been removed from my device already and I’ve never even launched Guitar .

They’ve been giving me the run around, telling me to ask Apple for a refund. I’ve already spoken to Apple at length regarding this issue, and it is not a Apple problem. My card was used to pay for the subscription directly through CoachGuitar, not through Apple. For some reason they don’t see this as a legitimate reason and keep referring me to ask Apple for a refund.

Save yourself the trouble. And please don’t contribute to Guitar or their developers who seem to only want your money and couldn’t give less care towards customer service.

First off I would like to say this is a very good app for learning this app. That said it is not easy it is geared mostly toward fingerpicking and is very difficult songs to play. In my opinion it is not geared toward beginners at all. They need to have more songs for picking , with a pick. Not everybody wants to learn how to finger pick right away. Guitar description should be way more clear on that before you pay money to subscribe.

I have been using Guitar for a while now. I prefer this over a lot of the other apps out there for learning sections of songs I have been having difficulty with. The loop and slowdown function is very useful for that.

The reason I am giving Guitar three stars is due to the fact that it is extremely difficult to play an entire song at one time. The full screen tablature view is too zoomed in, which would be alright if there was an auto scrolling function. The ability to print out tablature would also help.

I’ve learned lots of songs using Guitar, and the lessons are decent. But when i am trying to learn a song, an ad pops up every other video, which in itself is inconvenient. but when i am on one video and i tap on another when an ad pops up, it won’t switch to the video i tapped on. So i have to watch 2 ads and wait for loading in between everything, so i loose 2 minutes trying to do that. Combine that with every single video i need to watch. Guess i’ll get another this app app so i can learn it without wasting a lot of my time

I have been using Guitar for about 3 weeks. It’s been a great tool to learn from being a beginner. I have had issues however with the following. 1: my finished lessons got erased making me go back through, re load Guitar and the due all the lessons over again 2: after being charged for a year subscription the content has been locked and trying to charge me again only after 3 weeks of use. 3: emailed customer support and no response. I give it a 5 for the platform and a minus 3 for the issues.

Always wanted to play some instrument, but never actually got to do it. I even tried to play on some old this app but in the end was really confused. Guitar is so much better to learn it, I just wish I had it before. Great for people who don't like to focus on theory and want to go straight to the point.

Thank you for the bug fix updates, it does work more smooth now.

Well, I have never expected to fall in love in app! Music is a very important part of my life, so I can’t live a day without listening to music or playing my this app. It’s a very handy and well-designed application, that helps to play songs of different genres and tune the instrument. There are a lot of functions, so thank you so much for the opportunity to develop my skills in playing the this app!

I used to be able to go on whatever lesson I wanted but now if I click on anything, the whole app crashes. I’ve tried to delete and reinstall Guitar , and it didn’t work. I tried to reset my phone, and it still didn’t work. I even made a whole new account, and it doesn’t work. I’ve checked for updates but guess what, it’s up to date. I’m really disappointed and I used to be able to use the website on my computer for lessons but now all it asks is to sign up for a “free trial” and then it’s over priced. Does anyone else have this problem?

I was looking for an app to help me learn this app and learn some new songs. When I stumbled upon this during my search, I was amazed at how underrated it is. It gave me a step by step guide on my favorite songs and minutes later I was playing the into to Shallow! I highly recommend this if your looking for tutorials on your favorite this app songs!

I liked Guitar before they forced a monthly subscription to get new music. I have a busy life and go through spurts of this app practice. I enjoyed being able to purchase only the songs I wanted and having access to them permanently. I can still access my purchased lessons, but cannot add new ones without a sub. Unfortunately, that means I will not be adding any additional lessons. The subscription is just not worth it for me. In the end, they are losing money from me. I bought many lessons prior to this change. I cannot recommend.

This is very useful and cool application. I have a this app at home and I did not play on it. It was to diffucult to learns play this app alone without teacher. And I did not have interest and enthusiasm. But with this application I started to play this app every day. It become very interesting and easy. There is very understandable lessons and I like this new teaching method in this application. It is very interesting and practical. Thank you for this application

It is very good application for beginning this app players. There is very easy and pretty interface. This application is very easy to understand and work with it. It is the best application for self-thought this app players. I’m playing this app for long time and I ended music school and this application is not useless for me. I find there is many interesting lessons and things. But for beginners it is the best application

Bought the premium pass back in Feb/March and by June it wouldn’t let me continue on to the next skill level. I sent customer service an email they reset it but it didn’t work. Sent several more emails and now they just keep telling me they can’t find my membership. So I send another email with the membership info in it and they still can’t get it to work. I just want my refund for all the months that it hasn’t worked. I really enjoyed the parts that worked, however it wasn’t worth $119 for those couple of months. NOT HAPPY!

It a good training app for beginners or even those who has already started once playing this app. Learning process is supplied with video lessons. Every step is carefully explained and everything becomes clear. There is a huge number of music tracks of different genres thats why everyone is able to find what he prefers more.

I've got my dad's this app at home, but I never wanted to learn how to play it but thanks to Guitar I learned several songs without any boring theory. And what I love most they sound professionaly, like I have been playing this app for many years! I've been using Guitar for several months for now and I can say I really like it.

As a beginner, I tried apps like yousician, fender, and either their categories were not as broad as coach this app or I didn’t understand the tabs system. Keep in mind I no nothing of how to understand/read chords and coach this app was perfect. Has a video and even a closer video of what is being played. I love it and do not regret paying for it
