I was hoping to be able to listen to all my favorite MPR and NPR shows on my phone without having to livestream the radio with spotty internet service. But the constant interruptions of “This program is supported by...” mini commercials is very aggravating. They come on in the middle of a sentence sometimes! These are IN ADDITION to the regular program breaks for sponsorship, which I understand is needed. But adding even MORE interruptions makes this just about un-listenable. Please fix this. I’ll be deleting MPRNews.

Nobody at MPR is listening. As mentioned by many previous reviewers, navigation is horrible. On top of that, stories are often repeated in the list. There is no way changes to MPRNews are tested before release. MPR’s reputation for quality programming is not at all reflected in MPRNews. Somebody dropped the ball.

I wrote MPR about this and while I received a nice response, received no solution. Every time you move between WiFi networks you are forced to listen to a 15 second commercial on this non-commercial station. I’ve missed news and weather alerts and parts of great stories. Really not a good situation. I suggested regular — in between story — sponsorship slots, but this has not happened. I really dislike MPRNews .

I read NPR News daily and always via MPRNews . Or at least I used to. The new app is jerky, too sensitive, and returns to the top after reading each story. I also don’t like that when scrolling it’s just a continuous loop of stories. I’ve been reading much less MPR news specifically because of the horrible changes to MPRNews . I have to question my longstanding sustaining member commitment.

MPR is continuing to interrupt its programming, often in the middle of a sentence, cutting off key information from their stories with additional “commercials”, in addition to the “commercials”. First there is no need for the additional ones, second if you do it for some reason I need to insert these, do so between stories.

The new format does not allow you to advance to the next story without first returning to the “main” screen, requires too much scrolling, and opens stories when you’re just trying to scroll (like if you tap just wrong you open a story instead of advancing the scroll...So. Frustrating.). Also, the left/right arrows at the bottom of every story don’t usually go left or right (back/forth?) - why are they even there? Maybe make them appear only if they lead somewhere.
Bottom line, I think MPRNews ’s previous format was WAY better and easier to navigate.

Why, oh why am I taken back to the top of the list of articles after I finish reading a story? When I am done reading a story I should be brought back to where I was in the list. After starting at the top multiple times I get frustrated and close your app.

Main page text chops off letters on both sides on iPhone se(1). No landscape option, but I shouldn’t have to resort to that anyway.
As others have said, a lot of scrolling. No way to jump back to top of list.

The update does not improve how you can read news stories. The text now does not even entirely fit on my screen. When you finish an article and go back to the main news page, it goes right back to the top of the feed, then you have to scroll down to here you left off....scroll, scroll, scroll. This is really disappointing. Not sure if I will keep reading on this.

A recent update with a design change makes it possible to see more about a story before going into it, but that text is small. Vertical scroll from swiping is jerky, jagged, anything but smooth on my phone.

MPRNews cuts out of the live broadcast on average 4-5 times per hour. It’s incredibly frustrating when you’re in the middle of an important news story and the host or guest is cut off for an advertisement. For that reason I’m no longer a sustaining member of MPR.

MPR News content is fantastic, but this new app is not improved. Most of the time I open, the screen is blank and I need to navigate to home to refresh MPRNews to see any articles. Lightly scrolling down often results in accidentally opening an article. You cannot navigate from one article to the next. Weather has very little info.
by Giaoser
Only upside to MPRNews is the content. Scrolling through stories is a pain, opening unwanted stories over 80% of the time.
Large blank spaces on either side of stories that cause you to have to again attempt to navigate BACK to where you intend.
Who did they hire to make MPRNews?? Ugh.
by DMGilsdorf
I dislike the newest update which stacks all the stories. This creates a frustrating scrolling experience as you inadvertently click and open a story while scrolling. At least add a scroll column or bar

I looks nice when you startup on my 2017 iPad. But it cant rotate landscape and there is no way to use darkmode. Pease fix these 2 things and I would give this 5 stars.

Great app, does what it is supposed to, BUT the touch sensitivity required to open a story is WAAAAAY too low; just trying to “scroll” will inadvertently cause stories to open. A quick developer tweak would fix the problem... any help with that MPR? Thanks!!

Wow! I just realized the MPR app got a major update! Seems to run a lot smoother and the appearance of it makes it easier to navigate and looks crisper! Can’t wait to play around with it more!

I love using this to read news stories from my trusted news source for years... MPR!
I really like the push notifications, I can get alerts during my busy day to stay in the know.

The Minnesota public radio app just got a whole lot better! It’s SO much easier to navigate, the content is clear and easy to find, and I really like how it all looks. Thank you for the upgrade, MPR!

Hey MPR, Boo hoo. I read your app on a tablet and like to view it in landscape mode. This update takes that away. boo, boo, boo. What were you thinking? was this just you guys being lazy?
boo, boo boo.

Crashes when trying to open app on original iPad mini, does not rotate to landscape view on new iPad!
by Refereemn77
Basically, the latest update just displays mobile friendly web pages. It's really a step backward in usability. Very disappointed.
by Spigo Extortion
Reads like a line sheet and opens everything when trying to scroll. Lame

Just upgraded and the new app won’t display in landscape mode on iPad. Please address.
by EBAthor
Please bring back the landscape mode. With a keyboard on my iPad I can no longer use MPRNews .
by JIlliekat
Since the update, I cannot view MPRNews horizontally on my iPad, as this is my preferred way to view apps. Please fix this.
