BreakingNews itself is ok. But, the purpose of breaking news is defeated if multiple alerts from different news sources about the same news story keeps pinging the phone. Identifying that the multiple alerts are for the same news story and delivering only the first alert to the user will greatly improve the experience. Also, I haven’t gotten a single non-US alert although I have checked yes to RT, Chinese, Indian and other news sources.

This used to be my go-to app for news. Now you get a headline with a specific news source listed. You select to see the storey, you then have to click on another button to actually see the storey, and then you often get a google search webpage displays news headlines none of which are the storey you wanted to see in the first place.
I’ve reported the problem to BreakingNews Support. They couldn’t be bothered to respond.
I’m off to find a replacement.

Had this last year, and was so impressed on all the breaking news alerts I was getting. I’ve got family scattered across the world, and this was perfect keeping a watch on them, as well as our ever changing world. Seems like since the new year, I’ve been flooded with nothing but sports, crap. Sorry, but I’m not interested in Manchester’s football/soccer team. It’s an all day stream of who got traded. Who got signed. What team they’re now with, etc. this has turned into an ESPN app. I haven’t changed my news settings. In fact, I’ve got sports stations turned off. I was getting a good mix of world of events, but not anymore. Deleted.

I've used BreakingNews for years and recommended it to many people, and in the last month it's gone from feeding all the notifications to my phone like usual, to only showing the most recent notification. This isn't useful anymore. Another review says you now need "premium" but the only in-app purchase is ad-free? How do I get my notifications back?

I like the option where I can turn on/off news sources, but would be better if I could have the option of turning on/off types of news, such as being able to turn off celebrity news stories, etc. I also continue to receive stories from sources I did not select.

I can only see an ad banner when I open BreakingNews for news. This used to be great. Terrible timing for BreakingNews to lose functionality given a pandemic and Super Tuesday.
Update: this bug was fixed super fast! Thanks!

BreakingNews is the perfect source for news from all outlets. MUCH better than that Smart news crap that claims to give you both sides of the story on TV, and then just feed you left wing propaganda.

Really don’t need to see the same story from different sources 7+ times. Why not list the story once and provide the ability to see other sources?
by Curt10122
It provides live news, and the articles, as well as how recent the article is. Highly recommend

You select the news delivery outlets you want to see, easy way to stay on top of news

I think this is the best breaking news app available. Be sure and go to the settings page so you can customize the news how you want to see it. Amazing app I use every day.

Very well balanced ing many English language news sources. I've enjoyed using BreakingNews for the last 3 years, and love the new radio feature which gives you audio as an option as well. Highly recommend!

I love this news app! The quick news alerts are great, the ability to select which sources I want news from is great too! In fact, whenever North Korea shoots off a missile I know about it before anyone else, which lead a co-worker to ask how I knew so fast every time North Korea launched a missile. I told him about BreakingNews and he insisted I help him download it to his phone. I just wish I could get the capabilities of BreakingNews in my chrome web browser on my laptop.

Let’s you see headlines of every major event from any major publication. There’s no bias when you can see news from every major source

The Breaking News app does exactly what it says it will do. It’s worth it to remove ads and support the developer. This is the only news app you’ll need with a FAIR and BALANCED sampling of all the news organizations/news publications out there.

Breaking News is the ‘go to’ site for anyone who wants to stay current no matter where in the world events happen. From politics to sports to earthquakes and everything in between. Night or day Breaking News has it covered.

The newscast radio is good to offer the latest audiable news. The problem is that it stops after each channel finishes broadcasting. It'll better if the broadcast can go on automatically one by one.

BreakingNews is even better now that I found out how to turn off “news” alerts from sources I don’t care to hear from (ESPN, NFL, Sky Soorts etc.)! The “Newscast Radio” option allows you to hear updates from various sources, rather than reading them. Long-press on a headline allows you to easily share it as well!

Nice! Just headlines from news sources I choose myself. Unlike other breaking news apps I’ve tried, it doesn't take over my system or overwhelm me with ads. It does have a reasonable ad at the bottom, but the rest of the page is all business. I’m a news junky and just love BreakingNews. Class!

I love the simplicity of BreakingNews , all while streamlining breaking news to a user. I frankly rely on BreakingNews for my news. Today’s saturated news environment is daunting, with all the various apps and news media outlets out there, but BreakingNews is the fix — it relieves my anxiety! The functionality and easy layout is superb. As Di Vinci said, simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. That adage aptly describes BreakingNews .

I have used BreakingNews for several years, but I won’t be bothering anymore. As of a month or so ago, you now have to pay if you want more than one news alert show up in your Notification Center or on your lock screen. This may sound like a stupid complaint to some, but the whole purpose of BreakingNews used to be that you had multiple news outlets posting alerts as notifications, so if you wanted to go in and read more of the story you could. Now it’s just another news aggregator.

I used BreakingNews for breaking news for quite a while, but all of the sudden I started getting a lot of weird alerts that made no sense. I think they were referring to soccer, but since I am not a fan I’m not sure. I finally had on a couple of straight news outlets turned on and it didn’t matter. I finally got sick of it and deleted it.

This is a great app to get breaking news stories but the major drawback for BreakingNews is you get like 100 notifications back to back for the same story they need to fix so it only one notification for the same story unless something changes or else would be a 5 star

What happened ?.... the English readers most likely are not looking for Asian scripts. Please correct....
Edit: ... my bad. Didn’t realize I had the Asian feed selected. Changed my rating to 4. Way down the list.
by Secret1964
The developer promptly responded to this. The options are there. I just hadn’t figured it out as was on a different screen. Kudos!!!
- Wish there was easier and more options to forward the news items - messaging apps

Fast and dependable. Rates up there with AP when it comes to speed and accuracy.

I like BreakingNews. Simple and lets you know the news fast and has link to the article. An app that does it’s job with no fuss. -Thanks.

Very simple presentation, with relevant stories from multiple outlets. No fancy graphics and no detectable bias to get in the way. Superior to Google, Apple, Flipboard, etc.
